Polène bags are stand-alone sculptural masterpieces, but once on the arm of the wearer, they become instantly reflective of taste and character. Started by three siblings, the French fashion house sources its leather from Spain and Italy, and production takes place in the Spanish town of Ubrique. Such inimitable, sleek shapes at an under-$500 price point are rare, so it’s no surprise fashion savants quickly recognized the brand as a street style staple. With some of the most popular silhouettes named after numbers (the Nine, pictured above, is a wavy pouch with flexible draping on the sides, and the Ten is a half-moon saddle bag with a long adjustable strap), it seems like there’s a purse made for every aesthetic and vibe.
According to Polène’s site, there are five best-selling bags that we’ve outlined below, which range in price from $210 to $500. Of course, there are special editions of each, from croc-nubuck treatments to canvas and even all-over shearling. They also come in different sizes, with minis and adorable micros in the mix.
As you’ll see from the outfit inspiration we’ve curated ahead, pairing any sophisticated and minimal Polène bag with wardrobe basics, casual denim ensembles, or night-out looks is easy. As you scroll, you can see some of our favorite ways to wear the top five Polène bags on the market and shop our favorite iterations of each one.
As a fashion editor, there is something so fun and satisfying about seeing a trend start to percolate and then, over the course of some seasons, really start to take hold. Such is the case with the growing mesh-flats trend. For some time, The Row was the leader in the space with its highly coveted Mesh Sock Flats. The cool, minimal flats have been spotted on many in the fashion crowd.
One of the many perks of the see-through style becoming more and more popular is that a lot more options are available at every price point. Another is that mesh flats go great with everything from dresses to jeans. Keep scrolling to see 33 of the most stylish mesh flats to shop now in a variety of styles (embellished, slingback, mules, and more), plus some outfit inspiration on how to wear them. I highly recommend that you act quickly when you spot a pair you love since these styles have been selling out fast.
I’m an unapologetic lover of HGTV. (Yes, you may DM me if you have suggestions.) In one episode I watched recently, the husband-and-wife duo were discussing landscaping for a craftsman-style house they were renovating in the South, flower boxes in particular. It turns out there are three key types of plants to know about when it comes to flower boxes: thrillers, fillers, and spillers. Thrillers are the hero flowers of the season that are the main event, fillers are the low-key shrubs that fill in the gaps, and spillers are the ones that hang down over the edge and add dimensions and, most importantly, create a little drama.
As I hunted through Nordstrom’s current markdowns to share the best of the sale, my HGTV-riddled brain started filtering them into corresponding buckets. You’re just going to have to trust me. Here they are, and they’re all on sale and very deserving of your attention.
Everyone loves Nordstrom, but perhaps none more than the fashion set in New York City. With the end of the year rapidly approaching (seriously, can we slow things down a bit?), there’s no better time to hit up our favorite retailer.
Here, I rounded up seven winter trends that editors, influencers, and It girls of NYC are all into currently and seven that they might pass on. With floor-sweeping coats, knee-length skirts, sporty sunglasses, and quietly cool sneakers, you’ll find something to freshen up your outfits. If you’re looking for some newer pieces to add to your cold-weather wardrobe, keep scrolling for some inspiration straight from the most stylish inhabitants of the Big Apple.
Because of my job, I pretty much have the sale schedules of every retailer memorized. In other words, I’ve known about Nordstrom’s current sale for a long time—pretty much all year—and have been mentally, emotionally, and physically preparing for it ever since. Think I’m kidding? I won’t bore you with the receipts, but trust me, I’ve never been more ready to dig up the best finds from Nordstrom’s 30,000-plus women’s sale items than I am today. You should see my workstation. It includes three screens, four liquids, and the *perfect* playlist for peak concentration.
Enough about the preparation though. You and I both know that what you’re really here for is a list of irresistible fashion items that would’ve cost you infinitely more just a short while ago. I’ve got that handled too. Scroll down for 23 items that even someone who’s meticulously scrolled through every sale in 2023 is incapable of resisting. They’re that good.
Now that we’re deep into December and have been wearing knitwear for at least a month now, it’s become clear what the emerging sweater trends are. Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber certainly agree on one in particular. That trend is Fair Isle sweaters. Jenner wore the classic après-ski style earlier this week in Aspen, and Bieber wore it upon her return to Los Angeles. Both of them wore Fair Isle sweaters by Khaite, who can largely be credited (along with Celine) for the returning popularity of the style this season.
Multicolored Fair Isle knitwear actually dates back to the early 19th century on an island near Scotland, when it was made for fisherman’s sweaters. Today, brands from low to high-end embrace the design each winter, but it’s become especially ubiquitous this season. One place I’ve come across multiple excellent examples of the trend is J.Crew, where its Fair Isle sweaters keep selling out. (Trust me—I’m on J.Crew.com a lot.) Scroll on to shop those along with Jenner’s and Bieber’s Khaite crew-neck and cardigan.
Sweater weather is something I spend half of the year looking forward to and the other half embracing. But what about the humble cardigan? I have a theory: Winter comes and goes, but cardigans don’t have a particular season. Excluding the sartorial necessities of extremely hot or cold days, a cardigan is a versatile piece you should always have on hand. I always have one draped over my office chair and never forget to stow one in my carry-on with a water bottle and a good book—they have that much staying power, regardless of color, material, or style.
One of my favorite types is the collared cardigan, a versatile and timeless iteration that comes in a number of styles, from zip-up and button-down to fitted and loose. Some of my most coveted collared cardigans have pointed collars, while others have dainty Peter Pan collars. Suffice to say: The options are endless. To help you narrow down your options, I curated a list of my favorites.
I knew Zara moved fast when it came to trends, but I never knew it moved this fast. After scrolling through the Spanish fashion brand’s latest arrivals, opening what could possibly have amounted to 100 tabs in my browser, I noticed something. The selection wasn’t touching on trends from this year, but rather, the retailer’s virtual shelves were already fully stocked with all of the trends we’ve been predicting to make it big next year. Apparently, the next 10 days don’t matter. At Zara, it’s already 2024.
In the same manner that we do, clearly Zara’s design team has been busy studying the chicest moments from the runways and scouring the social feeds of fashion’s best trend predictors to get ahead on the trends that are to come post–New Year’s Eve. And while I’m all for living in the moment, in this case, I’m not mad about the head start I can now get on my 2024 wardrobe at a price that’s hard to beat. Scroll down to get to grips with next year’s biggest trends, all of which are currently in stock and ready to shop at Zara.
I know I can’t be the only person here who wants, when they get dressed, to look expensive. We’ve been taught it basically all our lives, but instead of that word, people said “nice” or “sophisticated.” To me, all of the above mean the same thing, except mine implies an extra oomph—or, perhaps, an extra dollar sign. Of course, the trick is to reach this ultimate goal without having to actually spend a lot of money. A $2000 bag will make you look rich; that’s a given. But if you can find a $50 one that gives the same impression, that’s when you’ve really won.
After 28 years, I’ve learned a thing or two about gaming the system to get the vibe I want for a price I can afford, which is what brought me to spend the last, I don’t know, four hours scrolling through Nordstrom’s latest arrivals in search of pieces that would appear to set me back thousands but all cost under $200. Scroll down to shop the 34 pieces I unearthed along the way.
With a new year in play, it’s only natural that one thinks about resetting and as a fashion editor my mind obviously goes to my wardrobe first. Freshening up my wardrobe not only comes with a much-needed clean out but also probes me to reflect on the trends I’m ready to toss and forecast those I’m looking to try out.
Trends are ever changing and in a world plagued by consumerism and quick, easy purchasing, I’ve found it an important introspection to make sure I’m abiding by at least a one-in, one-out policy with my closet.
Living a fast-paced, city lifestyle and realizing that investing in my clothing is of utmost importance, I found that the A-list clothes I’m looking forward to adding all hinge on practicality. And in return, the ones I’m losing are those that don’t offer that same functionality. A few I’m tossing include micro mini bags, impractical stilettos, and Y2k baby tees, and in return, I’m adding medium-sized shoppers, sensible sling backs, and athletic jerseys.
Below, I’ve detailed all the exciting trends I’m looking forward to bringing in this year as well as an accompanying shopping list in case you’re looking for a refresh too.
If there’s one item that will never go out of style, it’s a black dress. Whether you’re going for the classic LBD, a flowy midi, or something in between, there is no shortage of options to choose from. And if you’re over playing it safe and want to actually make a statement with your wardrobe choices, get out your notebook because fashion school is officially in session.
One of our favorite things to do is take inspo from our favorite fashion people on Instagram. If we see an outfit we like, we save it and try to recreate it ourselves, oftentimes with a fun spin. And lately, we’ve been seeing lots of black dresses with fun shoe choices. There are loads of shoes to wear with black dresses, but a select few styles are worn by the fashion people setting the trends.
From this year’s hottest shoe style ballet flats to tried and true loafers, knee-high boots, and more, wearing a black dress does not have to be boring. In fact, you can still set yourself apart from the sea of normalcy and repetition. From statement-making ensembles to everyday outfits, finding the perfect shoes to wear with black dresses is all too easy with a little help from us. Below, take a look at the shoes to wear with black dresses, including some of the best shoppable shoe options and some cute dresses, too.
I’m somehow always astounded to find how many items I add to my cart when shopping at Nordstrom, but the retailer stocks an endless surplus of season-appropriate staples at a wide range of price points. In other words, I can’t help myself. That means that if I’m looking to invest in a wear-everywhere designer boot that lasts me years, I’ll probably also land upon a perfectly suitable work dress for under $100 at the same time. And just like that, the shopping bug bites.
This winter, I’m seeking holiday-festive clothing and shoes that evoke high-octane glamour (think: crystal embellishments and feather trims). At the same time, I could use another pair of knee-high boots in a rich color like burgundy, just to add a little contrast to my neutral palette. As ballet flats and loafers are also notably popular this year, I was sure to search for the best possible iterations of the footwear and provide you with options. No matter your sense of style, there’s something here for you.
Ahead, shop my 31 top picks for shoes, dresses, and tops at Nordstrom, including everything from a luxe, off-the-shoulder sweater dress from Topshop with a twisted neckline that rings in at $102 to paillette-sequin mules for $85 that I can’t wait to style with tights and a little black dress.
Let’s just get right down to it—Nordstrom has one of the most epic shoe departments around. Period. There’s always something to suit a variety of styles and budgets. Now that we’re heading deeper into October, my attention has been shifting toward shopping for boots as the temperatures are starting to dip. I also love a flats moment—whether that’s of-the-moment ballet flats or chic loafers (my favorite)—so I’ve been sorting through various flats as well.
Below, you’ll uncover an edit of the Nordstrom boots and flats I loved the most while spending the afternoon scrolling through the Nordy shoe section. You’ll notice everything from chunky Chelsea boots to knee-high styles to gorgeous flats that can be dressed up or down. Keep scrolling for more.
When it comes to the holidays, there’s no one I trust more than Linda Fargo, Bergdorf Goodman’s SVP and Fashion Director, not to mention the master of all things festive. Simply put, everything that goes in and out of the iconic New York City mainstay goes through her, especially during the holidays, when the 200,000+ square-foot building transforms into a winter wonderland of luxury, excess, and glamour. Because of that, you can safely bet that she’s well versed in the year’s most-wanted items and trends for the season of presents and parties, from dresses and jewelry to shoes and handbags.
With December fully under way, I called on Fargo following the store’s 2023 holiday-window unveiling (which she fabulously hosted alongside Martha Stewart wearing the sparkliest gown I’ve ever seen and a matching silver Moncler puffer) to find out which holiday-dressing trends she’s backing for the joyous time ahead. And as always, she didn’t disappoint. Scroll down to get the inside scoop from the “eyes of Bergdorf Goodman” herself.
New year, new you. With 2024 approaching fast, it’s time to take stock of your closet and decide what new you’re ready to embrace and the old worth leaving behind. While the latest Spring/Summer fashion week back in September gave us a glimpse of what the biggest trends of 2024 would be, it’s important to evaluate them through a lens not just of what is popular, but of what is actually worthy of making room for in your closet.
Embracing a new trend requires spending your hard earned money, so it’s best to avoid anything too fleeting. Cherry-pick trends based on what’s best suited to your personal style and before you make a purchase, think about the cost per wear. The more you’re inclined to put a piece on in the morning, the better the value (is this girl math?).
While we’ll always support leaning into a micro-trend if it’s something you can envision wearing all the time, we’d also be remiss if we didn’t call out a few of the small tweaks that you could make to ensure your purchase isn’t one that ends up sitting in the back of a drawer or gathering dust in the corners of your closet. Ahead you’ll find five swaps that will help steer your 2024 purchases into timeless territory. Before the new year arrives, do a little closet clean-out in preparation for the new items you’ll soon get to call your own.

It’s official: We’ve reached the point of the year when we watch the clock count down to the final moments of 2023. While some might be solely focused on what the future holds for them in the coming year, it’s not a bad idea to take a moment to reminisce. Sure, it’s more exciting to think about opening a new chapter in our lives—whether that looks like plans to travel more, adopt new trends, get back into a workout routine, or update your beauty regime. Being able to look back can also help us navigate how we want to move forward into the future, even if what we’re mulling over is something as “frivolous” as the fashion trends that defined the year. After all, there’s no better time capsule for what has happened in the culture than the trends that have found their way into our closets!
Our clothing can tell us everything we need to know about how things have changed over time; therefore, taking a moment to take stock is a worthwhile use of time in the last moments of the year. Of course, there are many things one can look back to as indicators of what happened this year (e.g., celebrity style, television shows, viral runway looks), but none in our minds quite encapsulate time like accessories. Hear us out. Not every trend can translate from the runway to our real lives, but bags? That’s a different story.
Although the influence of this accessory may seem small compared to the larger ready-to-wear trends, that’s far from the truth. On a grander scale, handbags have always acted as an entry point into the luxury space for many who might not always be able to access it otherwise. Plus, the shapes, sizes, and specs of trending bags speak to larger cultural sentiments of the time. It’s not a stretch to say that popular handbags carry more weight to them than one might think. To prove that point, we dug through the archives of spring/summer 2023 and fall/winter 2023 runway collections to identify the biggest handbag trends of the year. To ensure each trend carries the influence we claim, we cross-referenced them with street style imagery from Instagram to ensure that each of the seven trends listed is popular. Rest assured, you’ll see everyone carrying these bag trends for the rest of the winter.
Despite the fact that most of our editors are based in New York or L.A., we spent a lot of time writing about French, British, and Scandinavian fashion. When our photo editor shares the street style images from London, Paris, and Copenhagen Fashion Weeks, I’m quick to save a plethora of images to my Pinterest boards. While we’ve covered the fashion set plenty, I thought I would round up the standout French, Scandinavian, and British brands everyone “in the know” is wearing to help those looking to add new brands to their radar.
The list of brands includes quintessential Parisian brands like Sézane and Rouje to more minimalist and refined labels like By Malene Birger and Me+Em. If you want to be in the know, keep scrolling. The European brands below are not ones you want to miss out on.
If you’re simultaneously obsessed with the latest micro-trends and too intimidated to test them out, you’ve come to the right place. This is Ways to Wear, a monthly series where editor Eliza Huber offers a dose of outfit inspiration focused on current trends that feel intriguing yet overwhelming at the same time. Consider it your guide to actually wearing the coolest items of the moment, no matter how puzzling they might appear at first.
Even the chicest outfits can fall flat sometimes if they’re missing a certain level of oomf. Everything about them can be perfect, from the fit to the color combinations and so on, but without that finishing touch that ties it all together, the sartorial spark will never light. And right now, the easiest and most cost-effective way to fire up your outfits is with hosiery. Yes, I said hosiery, and no, I don’t mean pantyhose.
From red and burgundy tights to knee-high sheer socks, the world of hosiery is one full of possibilities. And of all the leg décor that’s trending among fashion people this year, the style making the most significant impact by far is fishnets. Once considered tacky and more than a touch costumey, in recent seasons, the latticed tights have received a dressed-up makeover, with brands such as Gucci, Tory Burch, and Victoria Beckham pairing them with elegant dresses and separates, adding a touch of intrigue to every combination. They balance out any outfit, ensuring that no ensemble ever risks being called boring.
The promotional tour in NYC this week for the new film Anyone But You was a Sydney Sweeney fashion show, start to finish. She and stylist Molly Dickson came up with more than a dozen incredible looks for Sweeney’s press appearances, but it’s her legging outfit to fly from NYC to LAX yesterday that has my attention at the moment.
I always like to see how celebrities style leggings years after they became “trendy”. Sweeney, for one, opted to pair her black leggings for the flight with a designer It item: Prada’s cropped puffer. Prada and Miu Miu puffer jackets are as covetable as puffer jackets get, and if I were to spend over $2k on a puffer, I’d definitely choose one of these. Sweeney completed the trendy travel outfit with a pair of white crew socks and white sneakers.
Scroll on to shop Sweeney’s exact cropped Prada puffer along with a few similar styles (including some that are easier on the wallet).
