Of the many different types of trends there are to buy, the ones I always gravitate toward, without fail, are color trends. They’re just so easy and accessible, and in the winter, you can start wearing fresh spring color trends regardless of how frigid it still is. Celebrities that are clued into fashion clearly agree, as I’ve already spotted multiple instances of them wearing the coming season’s color trends as far back as December.
You may be used to seeing all pretty pastel colors all the time for spring, but this year the color trends are all over the map, and not all of them scream “spring”. But that’s what makes them cool. I don’t know about you but I love an all-red look in the middle of May. With that, scroll on to see which colors stylish celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Ashley Graham, and Kate Middleton are wearing and shop pieces in these trendy colors for your own closet.
If you’re the kind of person who fawns over any celebrity who is “just like us,” then we need to talk about Aubrey Plaza. I binged The White Lotusin just about a week and am now obsessed with every actor that graced the screen, Plaza being one of my favorites.
It turns out she’s just as effortlessly cool in real life, and her style reflects that. She wore $30 sneakers to commute in New York City—she’s just like us. After seeing her waltz around in these sneakers, I couldn’t help but notice that they were giving major slip-on vibes. I have a prediction that the next Y2K trend that Gen Z will be all over is slip-on sneakers. I plan on ordering a pair for myself that will be anywhere between Plaza’s $30 pair and a fresh Golden Goose number, so below, find 20 styles I’m considering.
Plaza proves that style has no required entry price point.
Make a statement with this green pair.
Gen Z is already all over Vans.
Proof that major designers are backing this trend.
These are exactly what I had in mind when I was searching for slip-on sneakers.
The lug sole is so good.
These are very high on the list of my favorites.
Velcro is right up my alley.
The shearling won me over here.
Just the right amount of platform.
How pretty are these?
Flower power.
Everything about this retro vibe has won me over.
Golden Goose always delivers in the slip-on category.
If you’re on your way to becoming a rich aunt, you need these.
I love a new spin on a classic style.
A hint of pink has never steered me wrong.
Now these are stunning.
Green makes the classic Vans even cooler.
The woven detail makes these perfect for summer.
I’ve had these on my wish list for too long. The time is now.
I’m all about a sporty vibe.
The scallop detail is worth taking a closer look at.
Everyone needs a pair of New Balances.
While we’re on the topic of revamped dad sneakers.
Cool people still wear Converse.
The kind of sneakers that will make people ask, “Where did you get those?”
Move over, balletcore. There’s a new trend in town with a decked-out motorcycle and a Diesel skirt set so mini Paris Hilton’s Y2K outfits would do a double take. Introducing the biker baddie: an in-your-face trending aesthetic that relies on faded leather jackets, oversize sporty shades, and distressed combat boots. It’s not just us feeling the moto trend, either. A handful of our editors’ favorite designers and retailers have begun to experiment with the grungy, chic look.
The biker trend dominated this past winter thanks to the rise of aviator jackets and distressed denim, but frankly, it shows no stops of slowing down as we head into the spring. Heavier coats and boots can be switched out for embellished flats and strappy see-through tops, proving that moto goes way beyond the cold months.
Across the spring/summer 2023 collections was one jewelry trend we didn’t see coming but is already a huge deal: oversize studs. Designers including Saint Laurent and Rokh finished off several looks in their collections with similarly bold, sculptural earrings and it immediately piqued our interest since it hasn’t been for a while that any earring style dominated more than our tried-and-true hoops. Now, spring 2023 stands to change that.
We couldn’t discuss this trend, though, without a mention of the viral Bottega Veneta pair that has already swept the internet. Last fall, the brand debuted their Drop Earrings, an exaggerated bulb-shape, and promptly soared to the top of every fashion person and A-list celebrity’s shopping list. Fast-forward to today and designers high and low are sending out similarly oversize studs that tell us the style is sure to be major. Here, we’re charting the oversize earring trend from the runways to celebrities and highlighting the best options to shop now (hint—many are just as cool as they are affordable).
No matter the season, you can usually find me in a pair of sneakers, whether I’m wearing them with a puffer jacket and wide-leg jeans in the winter or a floaty midi dress come summer. The Who What Wear editors share my love of the comfortable footwear, and are hot on the sneaker beat, whether it’s covering the sneakers Parisians prefer to how celebs like Kate Middleton, Olivia Wilde, and Emily Ratajkowski (whose sneakers are now 40% off).
When it comes to preferred brands, I have to admit that I’m quite a creature of habit when it comes to sneakers. I keep repurchasing the same Vans Authentic Sneakers ($50) and Superga Cotu Sneakers ($65) after they get too beat up to look presentable. I’m also a big fan of Reebok, which is currently having a 40% off sitewide sale 3/1-3/15 with code FAMILY. But variety is the spice of life, right? I’ve committed to buying myself a shiny new pair of sneakers to boost my mood. Below, I’ve rounded up the coolest sneakers that have just arrived from Nike, Reebok, Fila, and Adidas. Some are new spins on old favorites, while others are fresh styles that are destined to become cult favorites.
Who What Wear editors check Zara on the regular—like, multiple times a day—so upon waking up to the first snow of the season in NYC, we were delighted to see its latest drop of pretty new swimsuits ready to shop.
This season’s offering includes hues mostly found in nature—moody blues and greens and desert-inspired browns and oranges. There are also a few splashes of pink and purple, which go perfectly with the new style of printed tulle designs. From asymmetrical shoulders to subtle embellishments and fun fabrics, it’s clear that Zara is prepared to make a big splash for spring break beachgoers and summer poolside sunbathers.
Ahead, check out 10 of the newest swimsuits from Zara that we predict will sell out quickly. And don’t forget to browse the brand’s fun, affordable accessories, including sunglasses, hats, and beach-friendly jewelry.
Here at Who What Wear, we focus a lot of our energy on the biggest trends of the season, and while we’ll never stop covering the heavy hitters, there are several micro-trends worthy of honorary mentions. These aren’t making major style moves yet, but we firmly believe that it’s only a matter of time until they graduate from micro to macro or, in other words, from niche to mainstream.
After hours of studying the runways and, of course, online shopping (all in the name of research!), we’re sharing the micro-trends on our radar at the moment. We’ve spotted these pieces on the feeds of the most influential women we know and stocked at several key retailers, which tells me that each is on the brink of becoming huge. Keep reading for fashion’s most exciting micro-trends of spring 2023, from the silver jeans we raced to order after seeing the recent runways at New York Fashion Week to the cheap but impactful red tights that have all our editors in a tizzy.
Most Wantedis a weekly series in which one editor, staffer, or influencer shares their top 30 must-haves or current wish-list items.
Even in my best attempt to enjoy the long weekend away from work, I found myself wandering into Nordstrom to do a little market research. While I walked away empty-handed, there are a few pieces I regret leaving behind (including this insane Staud dress). What can I say? I’m excited for spring to begin. The turn of the season always signals better weather, outfit freedom, and a fresh batch of styles I’ve been waiting to test out. But as a selectively trendy dresser, I’m always after the pieces that fit easily into my personal style. Currently, I’m testing the waters by pairing a sequined top with relaxed jeans, a rosette choker with a staple slip dress, and metallic footwear with a classic suit set. It’s always a goal of mine to find a balance between wardrobe staples and playful seasonal trends, and I think the following Nordstrom items accomplish just that. Keep scrolling to shop the arrivals I’m most excited about.
We’re all beyond over the idea that beauty equals pain. Right? As a result, when it comes to fashion—footwear specifically—the style pendulum continues to shift toward shoes that are stylish and comfortable. You’ve likely noticed or currently partake in this change yourself, embracing the pain-free life with flatform sandals and forward sneakers.
But there’s a catch when it comes to the latter specifically. While it’s brilliant in theory to bop around in cool trainers as opposed to stilettos, there’s one seemingly comfy on-trend sneaker silhouette that may be the worst for your feet, causing long-term painful effects. And we went straight to the expert—Gotham Footcare founder Miguel Cunha—to weigh in further.
When chatting about footwear styles that should actually be avoided, he called out sock sneakers. “While they may feel comfortable snugging the top of your foot, they’re not advisable shoes because they provide no support to the top and outside of your foot, which can easily lead to an ankle sprain,” he explained. Woof.
But hope is not lost—there are still plenty of other sneaker styles out there that offer more stability and support. On that note, we’re showcasing some visual inspiration and a range of these picks below. And if you’re still all about sock sneakers and want to risk it, just be very, very careful.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve officially reached my limits with winter. Don’t get me wrong, I love all my cozy winter staples, and I’ve been living for all the trends coming out of F/W 23 collections. But the fatigue is palpable, and I know I’m not the only one experiencing it. This time of year marks when we all collectively begin to count the days until the official start of spring. For many, it’s a time of renewal and a chance to reset everything, including how you dress.
While shedding a few layers is always exciting, there can be some trepidation about the shift into a new season. One can feel the added pressure to splurge on new clothing or to don recent trends when emerging back out outside. But in this economy, dropping an entire check on new clothing is exactly reasonable. So, what’s an alternative to making your wardrobe feel fresh without spending a fortune on new clothing? The solution is jewelry.
Accessories have always been the easiest way to freshen up any staples in your closet. There’s no shortage of accessories you can add to the mix to make your wardrobe feel current (e.g., hats and bags), but my favorite is jewelry. Without fail, adding a trend-forward ornament can make even the most basic staples shine. So, to make the transition into the new season easy (and affordable), I’ve identified the 7 biggest jewelry trends on the spring/summer 2023 runways and shopped them out. These trends are sure to make any wardrobe feel shiny and new.
During what I would call my rookie season—my first season as an editor—of New York Fashion Week back in the fall, I attended the Black in Fashion Council showroom preview held in Downtown Manhattan at Spring Studios. I was obviously bursting with excitement to just be attending fashion week in the first place, but to get to go to this preview in particular meant a lot to me. As a young Black girl, I was always hungry for all things glamour and fashion and spent my time dreaming about what it would be like to become an editor, so walking into a fashion-week preview that was so unapologetically Black did more for me than I had imagined it would. What really stood out to me was my conversation with designer Kwame Adusei. Both of us have African roots (he is from Ghana, and I am a first-generation American with a father from Malawi), so we immediately bonded over our love for fashion and African culture. While Kwame walked me through his collection, he told me, “The truth is we can wear anything and be fly because we are Black. It’s just in us.” His comment made me start to think about how Blackness translates to style and swag.
When I think of the Black fashion editors, publicists, and influencers who I follow and work with and who inspire me, they all have it. It’s not something that you can exactly put your finger on, and it’s not something that is a one-size-fits-all type of energy. It’s a certain je ne sais quoi in style, confidence, strength, and beauty that radiates from them, and it’s how they have figured out how to have such strong personal style. Before Black History Month comes to an end, I had to tap some of my favorite Black fashion experts to learn about the brands hanging in their highly curated closets. These eight Black fashion experts who are all based in New York City spilled on the brands they connect with and are loving at the moment.
Their answers not only put me on to new designers that I cannot wait to try for myself, but they also highlighted so many Black fashion designers that you, after reading this, will be obsessed with, too, if you aren’t already. Keep scrolling to read my conversations with some of the most stylish Black fashion people, learn about my own favorites, and even shop the brands we can’t get enough of.
Handbag trends may come and go, but investing in a designer handbag is always a smart choice. Sure, they may come with a steep price tag, but they also promise years—even decades!—of wear due to their exceptional craftsmanship and quality. Plus, Dior’s classic designs outlast any buzzy seasonal bag trend, guaranteeing much more bang for your buck than any micro mini bag or cloud clutch.
While there are plenty of heritage bag brands to choose from, today’s most fashionable can’t seem to get enough of Dior. From the classic Saddle Bag to newer designs like the Book Tote or Bobby Bag, it’s impossible not to find yourself amongst a sea of Dior logos and the brand’s signature Cannage stitching outside of any runway show or event.
Ahead, check out the best Dior bags that are totally worth the splurge, and shop the latest colorways and sizes that are guaranteed to stand the test of time.
If there’s one thing that fashion editors and stylists do best, it’s put together a really good outfit, one full of unexpected touches that, whilst easy to put together, pack a lot of punch sartorially. Whether it’s the middle of a brutal NYC winter or the hottest day of the year, whenever I walk into a press event or even the Who What Wear offices, I know my fellow fashion people will be dressed in something worth copying. And it all comes down to styling.
Though many are prone to keeping their best styling secrets close to their chests, all it takes is one scroll through Instagram to visualize the hacks they use to take a look from good to great on a consistent basis, and oftentimes, they’re far simpler than they look. From throwing a cool belt on top of an otherwise shapeless dress or coat to layering a tissue-thin turtleneck underneath a crew-neck sweater or button-down shirt for added dimension, the easiest and chicest looks are just a few creative tweaks to your dressing routine away. Well, that and perhaps one good shopping trip and some deep dives into your own wardrobe. Don’t worry, I’ve handled that first part below.
Scroll down for 14 styling hacks that are sure to get you that effortless look that fashion editors are known for.
Fashion month might be a regularly scheduled biannual event, but the timing never fails to surprise me. It creeps up on me slowly and all at once, and before I know it, I’m in the thick of it. So you can imagine my surprise when I realized that London Fashion Week had already come and gone. And with it came a strikingly cohesive message from the designers who showcased their collections there. Their designs represented the fact that a new era for Britain has arrived.
Last season, London Fashion Week attendees were left in a state of shock upon the realization that the queen had passed just days before the events. Celebrations were halted, and runway shows continued on paying homage to the queen. After many “changing of the guards” later, we’ve reached the first fashion week hosted by London since.
A show that truly marks the change that has happened in London since last fashion week was none other than Burberry. The announcement of Daniel Lee’s departure from Bottega Veneta and arrival at Burberry left everyone waiting to see what he would do. His work sent a clear message. The designs mirrored traditional British emblems but with an update—think head-to-toe plaid, oversize fur hats that resemble those of the queen’s guard, and traditional tailoring paired with graphic T-shirts.
The 2023 update on the traditional British wardrobe sounds exactly like what I would like to be wearing this upcoming fall and winter. One thing that LFW designers had this season was fun. Below, find the seven trends they showcased that are guaranteed to take over next fall.
As odd as it might feel to think about swimwear in February, their season in the sun will be here in no time. And since there’s nothing worse than finding out when it’s already too late to order your first bikini of the summer that a beautiful day is coming, I always find it beneficial to get ahead of the problem by stocking up on suits when they first drop rather than waiting until the last minute.
With that in mind, I sprung to action upon discovering a heap of new swimwear on H&M, Mango, and Topshop this week. From runway-inspired floret-embellished maillots at Mango to stringy bikinis in bright colors and neutral shades at H&M, there are already plenty of swimsuit styles to choose from at a price that makes securing a variety of options for the impending warm weather entirely feasible.
Before everyone else gets to work on their 2023 swimwear collections and buys up all the best colors and styles, shop the brand-new offerings at Topshop, Mango, and H&M below.

Every job requires a unique skill set; for those of us who work in fashion, it can be boiled down to needing to have strong intuition. You have to be able to predict what’s next—whether that’s trends to come, up-and-coming designers, or the next style icon. In some ways, prophesizing in fashion mirrors what astrology is all about. We’re looking out into the universe to find answers for what’s next, what’s happening, and even self-realization.
And while some may not necessarily think that astrology and fashion are interlinked, that’s far from the truth. Even if you’re not the type of person who has your entire birth chart memorized (guilty as charged), there are benefits to accumulating some knowledge. It can not only give you more profound clues about who you are, but it can also help you craft an approach to personal style. While I’ll admit you can’t learn everything overnight (I’m still learning, too), as a self-professed expert in astrology and fashion, I can give you a great start.
In that vein, I’ve researched the best spring/summer 2023 fashion trends for each zodiac sign (based on optimal colors, personality, and life approaches). Whether you know your entire chart down or are new to this whole astrology thing, I’ve got you covered. Consider this your style horoscope for the coming season (just be sure to check for your rising, venus, and sun sign).
While some designer labels boast one (okay, maybe two) iconic fragrances, Tom Ford arguably has at least five times that number. Black Orchid, Fucking Fabulous, Oud Wood, Tobacco Wood… The brand has debuted one timeless and covetable fragrance after another, each welcomed with a steeper and steeper upward slope of appreciation.
As beauty editors, we’ve always held a special appreciation for the fashion designer’s well-versed selection of collectible beauty items, but the appreciation doesn’t stop at Ford’s cult-loved bronzers or lash-extending mascaras. Tom Ford perfumes are some of the most highly sought-after and beloved fragrances in the industry, and if you own one (or more), you likely already know the enchanting spell they cast on those around you. If you wear one of Tom Ford’s bewitching scents, you will get compliments, and you will get questions—it just comes with the territory.
There’s no such thing as one “best” perfume. We’re all unique human beings with entirely different tastes and preferences when it comes to scent. But we’d be remiss not to pay our respects to the most popular, fastest-selling perfumes from House Ford. Below, we’re sharing the 10 best Tom Ford perfumes to try in the order in which they appear on the brand’s best-sellers page. Looking for your new fragrance infatuation? Keep scrolling—you’ve come to the right place.
Flared denim has risen—both literally and figuratively. It’s no coincidence that many of our favorite new releases from denim brands are both flared and cropped. A throwback Jane Birkin–esque style, cropped flare jeans come with a variety of benefits, showing off your shoes with ease among them. Beloved by stylish It girls such as Alexa Chung and Jeanne Damas and fully embraced by street style stars, this denim trend has officially hit the mainstream, proof that it’s going to be around for a while. In fact, we’d even call it a classic at this point.
To see how to pull off cropped flare jeans successfully (don’t worry—it’s easy), keep scrolling for our tips, outfit inspiration, and the best styles on the market to shop.

Wimbledon isn’t until July, but tennis great Serena Williams was spotted in London wearing a tennis skirt during the city’s recent fashion week. Williams, who may or may not be retired from the sport, wore Moncler to the brand’s presentation, complete with a varsity-inspired sweatshirt and sporty tennis-style skirt.
While the Moncler look is currently only available to the GOAT, we were delighted to spot a similar black tennis skirt with stripes at H&M for just $25 plus a few new designs from Venus Williams’s athleisure brand, Eleven. Plus, tennis skirts now come in a variety of vibrant colors, so we’re eager to branch out from our traditional tennis whites and explore a slightly less preppy look.
So why wait until spring to sport this trend? We’ve pulled 15 cute tennis skirts to shop now and wear all season long, both on and off the courts. Trust us, you’re going to ace this look.
