The 26 Best Zara Items for Spring, According to a Fashion Editor

    [ad_1]

Relatively speaking, there are few things we love more than a new season and a fresh Zara drop to go along with it. Zara has been uploading trendy and new spring items on what seems like a daily basis, and we’ve been paying close attention. In fact, it’s one of the only things getting us through these final frigid days of winter. (Give us all the saturated colors and retro florals!)

If you’re one of those people who look at Zara and think, “But I want everything!” you’ve come to the right place. We want everything too, but we’re also fashion editors with a keen eye for the best of what Zara has to offer. So keen, in fact, that we were able to narrow it down to just a handful of favorites for the purpose of this very covetable roundup. Scroll to shop our curated picks before they ultimately sell out.

Don’t Sleep on Strawberry-Scented Perfumes—10 Our Picky Editors Love Most

    [ad_1]

Fruity fragrances often fall into distinct categories of perfume that suggest they only be worn when in the presence of warm weather. This could largely be attributed to that fact that many of the popular fragrances we’ve all gotten our hands on at one time or another, have featured fruity notes that are layered against powdery florals, musky ambers, and milk to add some warmth and dimension.

Being more attracted to fresh, green florals myself, I’ve always found a certain fascination with what we tend to associate with distinctly fruity notes (especially strawberry). Leave it to Who What Wear’s highly selective beauty editors to identify 10 of the top strawberry-scented fragrances you’ll want to try before they soar off the shelves. Hungry for more? Keep reading to find out which ones we can’t get enough of.

  • Sorry, But These 9 Spring Staples Don’t Do It for Me Anymore—9 That Do

Sorry, But These 9 Spring Staples Don’t Do It for Me Anymore—9 That Do

    [ad_1]

I’ll be honest: Spring isn’t historically my favorite season to dress for. Here in NYC, the weather oscillates from cold to hot and back again in the span of a day. Layering is a much trickier art than it looks, and most of the quintessential spring style staples that reemerge every March don’t exactly do it for me.

I think we can all agree that the past two spring seasons have not exactly felt “normal,” so the staples I used to wear between the months of March and June could definitely use an update. I took a look at my closet and will be removing nine outdated spring staples, in particular, because they no longer feel like the freshest options. Items like utility jumpsuits and milkmaid tops that I hoarded for years are getting the boot, and now I have my eye on a few 2023 updates that will make all my spring outfits feel truer to my current style.

With that, keep reading to see which spring staples I’ll be relying on over the course of the next few months and which older ones I’m retiring.

9 Major Shoe Trends That Will Be Everywhere This Spring

The spring/summer 2023 runway shows have given us a fresh set of collections and upcoming trends to digest. In our spring/summer 2023 fashion trend report, we discussed some of the most noteworthy things to have your eye on for the upcoming season. Among them, you’ll find sweet, pretty things and all things sheer. Of course, there were also some fresh, unexpected trends we’re betting on big, including the return of skinny pants and intentionally imperfect pieces.

The shoe space showed a similar balance. In part, we saw fall/winter 2022 trends such as Mary Janes and ballet flats tweaked for the new season—meaning you can rest assured that those buys will last long beyond the spring. On the other side of the spectrum, hyper-new styles like the reimagined pumps at Loewe and the inventive, high-concept heels at Dries Van Noten will redefine how people accessorize in 2023. Ahead are the eight biggest spring 2023 shoe trends to commit to memory.

Not that you needed reminding, but the 2023 Oscars are this Sunday. I’m waiting with bated breath to see what everyone will wear—oh, and I guess to see who will win the statues, too. But back to fashion. So many excellent runway looks are simply begging to grace the red carpet, so I decided to round up some of my favorites below.

  • Florence Pugh Wore the Opposite of Travel Shoes to the Train Station in Paris

Florence Pugh Wore the Opposite of Travel Shoes to the Train Station in Paris

    [ad_1]

Florence Pugh appears to have a favorite category of shoes right now, and it’s Valentino’s towering platforms. She’s not alone in this, as the brand’s Tan-Go heels have been very popular among celebrities since their release. Pugh has worn some sort of Valentino platform shoes to nearly every red carpet event that she’s attended recently, and now she’s wearing them to a less expected place: the train station.

The shoes, which add nearly five inches of height, may look amazing and cool but they’re not exactly a practical choice for a travel day. Pugh’s outfit for a train trip out of Paris consisted of an oversized leather jacket, white tank top, baggy trousers, and yes, the massively high Valentino platforms.

There’s no denying that Pugh’s outfit is great for travel. The shoes, not so much. I personally can’t fathom wearing platform shoes for a travel day, but Pugh has shown that she’s game to wear controversial items to the airport, so why not the train station?

Scroll to shop Pugh’s “travel” shoes and a few other pairs that make a bit more sense for the train station (or airport).

  • I Have Vacation on My Mind—These 33 Warm-Weather Items Have My Attention

I Have Vacation on My Mind—These 33 Warm-Weather Items Have My Attention

    [ad_1]

I’ll admit it. I travel more than the average person for sure. Since the start of the year, I’ve been spending one week in NYC and another week adventuring somewhere outside the city. First, it was Breckenridge, Colorado, for a ski trip, then New Orleans, then Houston. The trip I have on the horizon that I am most excited about is a trip with my friends to Miami. To me, what really makes a vacation is warm weather, so as you can imagine, I have been just itching to get to Nikki Beach Miami and have several piña coladas while dancing around in the sun with my friends.

Another thing that I love about Miami is how fashionable of a city it is. It’s the perfect place to wear something a little out of the ordinary, a little bit bolder, and a little more fun. If you’re in the mood to wear something sparkly or something colorful, by all means, go for it. In Miami, that’s encouraged. Vacation is always the time I tend to have the most fun with my wardrobe. After all, we’re here for a good time, not a long time. I happen to be going on this upcoming trip with some of my most stylish friends, so you know I have to make sure the bar is set high for my looks.

Keep scrolling to see which warm-weather items I’m eyeing—not only for my upcoming trip but also for the rest of spring and summer.

Most Wanted is a weekly series in which one Who What Wear team member or friend of the brand will share the top 30 fashion and beauty finds on their current wish list.

What is it about the arrival of spring—and even the mere thought of it—that gets my heart beating a little bit faster? Now that we’ve hit that trans-season time period where even the slightest glimmer of warmer weather to come has me fully pivoting to spring mode, I’m going full steam ahead, starting with my favorite spring fashion finds. I won’t even so much as look at another one of my coats until next October. That’s how allergic I feel to winter’s lasting grip on my wardrobe.

Alas, where the weather lags behind my mood, shopping is one area where I can live out my warm-weather delusions as much as my heart desires, and my favorite retailers are answering my prayers here. From Net-a-Porter to Zara, spring’s new arrivals are already flooding the internet. One thing about me? I’m going to make sure I’ve seen everything before I make any purchases, so believe me when I say that I’ve done the legwork and looked at hundreds, if not thousands, of new arrivals so you don’t have to. Full Circle: These 5 “Outdated” Trends Have Officially Made a Comeback

    [ad_1]

Despite the fashion cycle moving at a rapid speed, there are still a few trends I did expect to see on my 2023 bingo card. Honestly, I should’ve got rid of any expectations once low-rise jeans made their way back with the Y2K resurgence. After that, the door to what’s trending seems to have remained wide open. As a fashion editor, I’ve been constantly on my toes waiting for what’s next because this year, everything is fair game. Don’t be alarmed, because I took note of the dated trends that designers have brought back and the modern-day iterations come with stylish updates that might have been missing last time.

Not only did I collect runway evidence for each trend, but I also pulled looks from the fashion set to prove they are more wearable than your first assumption. Because I, too, had many thoughts when I heard peplum tops were spotted at fashion week. Shouldn’t they have stayed in 2010? But once I saw Brandon Maxwell’s sleek iteration of the style and our fellow WWW editor Eliza Huber wearing the nostalgic look, I was on board.

Ahead, discover what’s old is new again. See the five “outdated” trends that have made a comeback into today’s fashion scene. And as always, you can shop editor-approved finds for each.

Florence Pugh Just Wore a Thong-Exposing Sheer Skirt to Paris Fashion Week

    [ad_1]

Florence Pugh’s newest outfit combines two of the biggest trends right now: maxi lengths and sheer fabrics. Attending the Valentino F/W 23 show during Paris Fashion Week, she wore a basic cropped sweatshirt with a sequined statement “naked” skirt that exposed a simple white thong underneath.

Along with the underwear-as-pants trend, sheer skirts are one of those controversial, risqué trends that celebrities are not afraid of wearing in public. (For the rest of us mere mortals, hints of sheer paneling might be a tad easier to pull off.) Scroll down to see Florence Pugh’s new outfit from the Valentino show in Paris.

  • And Now, the Latest It Sneakers Everyone in Fashion Is Losing It Over

And Now, the Latest It Sneakers Everyone in Fashion Is Losing It Over

    [ad_1]

Confession: I’ve never been much of a sneakerhead. I like to think of myself as more of a casual sneaker wearer—I like the pairs in my collection as much as any other shoes I own, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that they define my personal style. I certainly didn’t think I was the type to be subscribing to an email list for exclusive drops or setting an alarm to be the first to shop them. But lo and behold, that’s exactly what I found myself doing when one pair, in particular, came into view: the New Balance 550 sneakers.

The heritage sneaker brand teamed up with NYC-based streetwear boutique Aimé Leon Dore to bring back the 550s, a late ’80s basketball shoe style. The drop also featured a curated selection of items such as satin bomber jackets and baseball hats, but it’s the sneakers that have gone on to earn It status. I constantly see them pop up in the feeds of fashion’s most in-the-know people, who’ve taken to styling the retro kicks with cool basics like crisp shirting and relaxed denim.

While it has earned a lot of buzz simply because of its hyper-exclusive nature (the limited run sold out within minutes, prompting shoppers to obtain a pair through resale sites like StockX), the style also happens to hit on a big sneaker theme we’ve been seeing in fashion this year, namely basketball-inspired silhouettes, primary color palettes, and an overall retro feel.

One thing’s clear: They’ve soared to the top of everyone’s wish list, this editor included. Ahead, take a look at some standout styling moments and shop all the colors the must-have sneakers come in.

  • I Used to Work In Nordstrom’s Shoe Department—Here Are 23 I’m Eyeing For Spring

I Used to Work In Nordstrom’s Shoe Department—Here Are 23 I’m Eyeing For Spring

    [ad_1]

Before I became an editor, I held a few fashion-related jobs while studying in NYC. Editorial intern at Who What Wear was one of them, but a shoe associate at Nordstrom was another more time-demanding service. I spent my entire day going through new shipments, helping out customers, and of course—perusing the sale racks for myself. While my days in sales may be over, I still use what I learned from that job in my current role. I think about what specific shoe styles work for different occasions, notice what’s on trend for the current season, and take a closer look at the products to see what’s actually worth spending on. (I was working on commission, so the last thing I wanted was a return.) And as an editor, the last thing I want is for readers to be unhappy with a purchase.

While I wish I could virtually sit with each reader and act as an associate, I did the next best thing. I spent hours sifting through the hundreds of pages on Nordstrom’s site to find the best shoes to shop for spring. As someone who used to organize the shipments, I understand the sheer volume of shoes available can be a tad bit overwhelming. But to make it a little easier, keep scrolling to see the selection I put together below.

Tracing the Entire Fashion History of Spring’s Prettiest Trend: Rosettes

    [ad_1]

Rosettes: don’t call it a comeback, they’ve been here for years. The trend has been surging lately but it’s nothing new—in fact, I have photographic evidence that fabric florals have been around since at least 1864. How’s that for longevity? If you’re spending money on the trend, it’s comforting to know that it will always come back in style even with fashion’s notoriously unforgiving ebbs and flows.

When Zendaya stepped onto the red carpet at this year’s SAG Awards in a pink Valentino dress festooned with 190 roses, it solidified the trend’s 2023 dominance. What further proof could you possibly need? Scroll down to trace the trend’s evolution over the last 159 years.
