I Failed at No-Buy January Thanks to These Elegant J.Crew New Arrivals

    [ad_1]

Another year, another failed promise to myself to be more fiscally responsible with one browse through J.Crew. While I’m not an impulse shopper by any means, it feels like something takes over me when I enter the store (in person or online) and, quite embarrassingly, I have a fashion blackout.

I’ve written about my love for J.Crew several times in the past, with each story growing increasingly more fanatical. This time is no different. While I pledged that 2024 would be the year that I actually stuck to No-Buy January—a movement to reduce consumption and curb unnecessary spending—I just had to pick up a few things from the retailer. From an adorable top I’m wearing to my birthday to the vintage-inspired Lady jacket that screams office-core, these J.Crew finds made my wallet upset but my heart for the brand grow 10 times fonder.

Shop my cart full of chic jackets, can’t-miss knits, and classic denim below.

  • I’m a Fashion Editor Living in L.A.—This Weekend Getaway Is My Best-Kept Secret

I’m a Fashion Editor Living in L.A.—This Weekend Getaway Is My Best-Kept Secret

    [ad_1]

Los Olivos lies in the Santa Ynez Valley in California, just outside of Santa Barbara. The town is known for having some of the best food and wine in the state, which I can strongly vouch for. The trip only takes about three hours from Los Angeles, and the drive is breathtaking, as you can see in the above photo through the window of our Audi Q8 e-Tron. For those of you who speak electric car, I was able to get from L.A. to Los Olivos in just one charge—it’s that easy.

I most recently visited right before Christmas during a rainy weekend in December. The gloomy weather created such a cozy atmosphere that made the town feel like something out of a movie. Everything was decorated for the holiday season, and the people were extremely friendly. Due to the small nature of the town, you will never feel stressed that you aren’t seeing enough, because there isn’t that much to see… in a good way. There, you can relax and detach, which is exactly why I love going. Below, I have mapped out my favorite place to stay, where I like to eat, and a few more activities that should fill up one perfect weekend getaway in this adorable destination.

We’re a few weeks into 2024, and while I missed the New Year opportunity to clean out my closet, this weekend is going to be the time that I make it happen. As I’ve started to think about what I should keep and what I should toss, I’ve realized that I’m still stumped by a few items. So I decided it was time to call on some friends.

Their answers might just astound you. Below, find the four trends they’ve left behind in 2023.

  • We Already Know 5 Major Leggings Trends That Will Be Huge in 2024

We Already Know 5 Major Leggings Trends That Will Be Huge in 2024

    [ad_1]

Are they leggings? Are they pants? The lines continue to get blurred. We’re seeing this play out in terms of how leggings are styled, as well as the designs themselves. On the F/W 23 runway, Miu Miu endorsed wearing leggings in place of pants, styling them with crewneck sweaters, hoodies, and tailored outerwear. The looks have permeated the fashion space and continue to shape how we see the style set wear leggings for everyday looks far beyond the gym.

As I mentioned, leggings are also crossing into the pant sphere more and more. High Sport’s kick flare pants are one of the most viral pieces amongst fashion insiders in recent memory and have created huge demand for the soft legging-pants. Brands include Ferragamo and Theory showed leggings with tailored finishes in their S/S 24 runway collections. Capri-length leggings, too, are dominating and we’re seeing them worn in dressy ways, styled with leather tops in Phillip Lim’s S/S 24 collection and with heels on the street style scene. Ahead, more on the 5 leggings trends set to dominate in 2024.

Florence Pugh Just Wore a Polarizing Y2K Boot Trend With a Miniskirt in Paris

    [ad_1]

The style set has descended upon Paris for Couture Week. Valentino ambassador Florence Pugh is no doubt gearing up to attend the brand’s show on Wednesday, January 24. (Elie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier, Viktor&Rolf, and Zuhair Murad are also on the schedule that day.)

Photographed pre-show in Paris, Pugh wore a casual outfit consisting of a zip-up sweatshirt, miniskirt, oversize Valentino sunglasses, and peep-toe boots. It was her choice of shoes that immediately piqued my interest. Peep-toe boots had their heyday in the early 2000s and 2010s, but they haven’t been quite as popular lately. Did Florence Pugh just convince me to try them again? Yes, yes, she did. Scroll down to see how she styled them in the French capital and shop pairs for yourself.

There’s just something about European style that we Americans can’t get enough of. I recently did just that and figured I’d share my findings with you here.

I always admire how women in cold climates manage to keep warm and stay chic at the same time—something I’m always looking to emulate especially in January. • There Are So Many Designer Finds On Sale At Saks & Nordstrom—30 I Can't Not Buy

There Are So Many Designer Finds On Sale At Saks & Nordstrom—30 I Can't Not Buy

    [ad_1]

Most Wanted is a weekly series in which one editor, staffer, or influencer shares their top 30 must-haves or current wish-list items.

This week, I discovered something very dangerous—designer items on sale. After tons of digging, I concluded that at least for now, Nordstrom and Saks have the best assortment of discounted designer items including brands you rarely see on sale. Some examples include Valentino boots, Proenza runway pieces, and the Ferragamo bag everyone wants right now. Curating a wish list of must-have items within this category was a no-brainer. The hard part was narrowing down my selects to just 30.

Alas, I was able to make a tight edit of the best designer pieces currently on sale at both Nordstrom and Saks. If you see something you love (which you will) I suggest you act fast because these pieces do not tend to stay in stock for long. Happy shopping and good luck!

  • I Always See Hard-to-Find It Items on Mytheresa—30 I'm Losing It Over

I Always See Hard-to-Find It Items on Mytheresa—30 I'm Losing It Over

    [ad_1]

Let me fill you in on my worst-kept secret:  Mytheresa is the best place on the internet to shop for designer It items. You have to act fast in many cases, but I’m often amazed at how many new It items it has in stock at any given time. And if you really want to score the very best stuff before it sells out, take my advice and check the new-arrivals section daily. (Yes, there are hundreds of new and restocked items each and every day.) Another way to get the goods is to add items to your Mytheresa wish list. That way, you’ll get an email as soon as something comes back in stock.

I spent all morning scouring the Mytheresa stock (not a bad day at work, I must say) and found a slew of It items that many fashion people would love to get their hands on. I apologize in advance if something sells out before you get to it, but you know what to do—hit that wish-list button.

Trust Us—These 6 Gen Z–Approved Trends Will Be Everywhere in 2024

    [ad_1]

As time goes on, it becomes more and more apparent than Gen Z seemingly controls the trend cycle. Where we go, others (and TikTok!) will follow, complete with of-the-moment accessories and micro-trends that come and go faster than your brain can comprehend them.

As an editor whose job it is to be on the lookout for the next, biggest It item or movement, I have to admit at times, it feels like Gen Z is not taken seriously in the fashion conversation. Sure, our love for -core-ified aesthetics and “ugly” styles may raise a few eyebrows here and there, but the fact remains that Gen Z is growing up to be one of the largest demographics as it pertains to purchasing power and style decisions. So sit down and buckle up.

I asked six Gen Z tastemakers and editors what trends they’re most excited about in the upcoming year. Whether it’s the comeback of Tumblr-esque dressing or subtle runway-inspired details that have been on the rise for a minute now, read below to discover the Gen Z–approved 2024 trends you should hop on before everyone else.

I'm Sad Too, But These 6 Shoe Trends Aren't Making the Cut in 2024

    [ad_1]

There comes a time in almost every fashion item’s lifespan when the hype around it starts to wane. That doesn’t in any way, shape, or form mean that said praise will never return, but it does probably signify the need to store those afflicted pieces away for a while to make room for their replacements. Nowhere are trends cycling as quickly and significantly right now than footwear, a space where, in 2024, new buzzy colors, shapes, and specific shoe styles dethrone their formerly on-top foes on a near-daily basis.

As sad as it can be to wave goodbye to the shoes in your collection that accompanied you on many a 10,000-step walk, subway-stair climb, and worldly vacation, it has to be done. But don’t worry—2024’s footwear offering is nothing to scoff at. Once you see the six “in” styles below, I’m sure any residual sorrow will quickly be replaced with feelings of elation.

5 Colors to Tap Into If You Want to Look Richer in 2024

I’m what you might call a bona fide neutral lover. Although I am mesmerized by bold colors on the runway, sometimes I find it hard to pull off in real life, especially in a city like New York, where black is the everyday go-to. But this spring 2024 season, I spotted quite a few color trends that I can pull off to make myself feel pulled together and super-rich at the same time.

Thankfully, for the minimalist lover in me, some of my favorite hues (and silhouettes!) are already trending on the runway. From charcoal gray power suits at Ferragamo to the perfect shade of navy at Miu Miu to the mood-boosting Barbie pinks at Prada, today’s color trends are instant hits in my book. • I Just Got Back From Miami—These 3 Pieces Were the MVPs of the Trip

I Just Got Back From Miami—These 3 Pieces Were the MVPs of the Trip

    [ad_1]

As a Libra, I take my birthday pretty seriously. You would think I would start to grow out of it, but if I’m being honest, every year, it gets a little more over-the-top than the year before. This year, I was planning a trip to Miami with some friends to ring in my 25th because who doesn’t want to spend their birthday at the beach? We planned the perfect itinerary: booking a cabana at the SLS South Beach pool party, which ended up being the highlight of the trip; shopping in the design district; dining at Soho Beach House; and, of course, visiting some clubs and lounges along the way.

We were staying at the W South Beach, which ended up being perfect. The room was so big I started referring to it as our apartment, and we had a balcony looking out at the water, which ended up being our communal “glass of champagne before dinner” spot. Of course, we had to stay one night at the 1 Hotel South Beach, which happens to be one of my favorite 1 Hotel locations of all time. With our itinerary finished, the next thing to focus on was outfits, my favorite part. After digging on Fwrd, Revolve, Shopbop, and Nordstrom, I landed on a few outfits that were just begging to be worn in Miami on a girl’s trip/birthday weekend.

Keep scrolling to see the looks I landed on and all of the other chic items I brought along with me on my last trip to Miami.

5 Outdated Eyewear Trends I'm Saying Goodbye to—Plus Their 2024 Swaps

    [ad_1]

Anyone who loves fashion knows what wearing the right pair of sunglasses can do for your personal style and confidence. I almost never leave my apartment without sunglasses sliding down the bridge of my nose as a way of not only hiding from my neighbors but also completing my outfit. I have a special rack just for sunglasses right at my door so I never leave without them. They’re that powerful.

Nothing is worse, though, than looking back at old photos and seeing myself in sunglass trends that should’ve been left in the dust. I’ve already done a sunglass purge to start the year, and I’m quick to return a style that I’ve ordered only to discover that it doesn’t pass the IRL test. To help you avoid any mistakes, I’ve worked with my team of fabulous fashion editors on a list of the sunglass trends that simply aren’t worth my time in 2024. Get your donation bin ready.
