The time is here! Spooky season has officially begun, and the following are a few events that The Atlanta Voice picked out for Atlantans to enjoy during the spooky holiday season.

    1.     Bites, Booze, and Boos: Where to Eat, Drink, and Celebrate Halloween in Atlanta:

    –       Halloween isn’t just about candy and costumes; it is also a time to feast, toast, and make deliciously frightful memories. This October, Atlanta restaurants are making every effort to impress with glamorous Gatsby soirées, eerie pop-ups, rooftop masquerades, cooking classes, and arcade adventures that offer more treats than tricks.

    ·      Buckhead: It’s masks on, lights low, and music high at Gypsy Kitchen on Friday, Oct. 31, from 8-11 p.m. The Buckhead rooftop transforms into a sultry masquerade, complete with velvet-draped corners, city skyline views, and a DJ fueling the night. Guests should dress to impress for a chance to win Best Mask and stay for an evening of enchantment, escape, and revelry under the stars. Reservations are available online.

    ·      Step into the Roaring ’20s this Halloween at Gatsby at The Southern Gentleman on Friday, Oct. 31. From 7-10 p.m., guests are invited to don their most dazzling Gatsby-inspired attire—think pearls, fringe, feathers, tuxedos, and masks—for a night of dinner and drinks. Prizes await those with the best themed costumes. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made via OpenTable.

    ·      The Blind Pig Parlour Bar invites guests to plunge into the shadows at The Wicked Pig: Haunted Harbour (pictured below), an immersive Halloween pop-up open Wednesday through Sunday through Nov. 2. The Buckhead speakeasy submerges guests into a world of shipwrecked glamour and phosphorescent frights, complete with eerie undersea décor, flickering portholes, and siren songs. The Wicked Pig menu boasts spine-chilling cocktails, such as the Red Blood Moon margarita, pumpkin-spice espresso martini, and Zombie Pig, as well as themed bites, including mummy dogs, spooky deviled eggs, and caramel apple pies. Reservations are recommended through OpenTable, and walk-ins are welcome at the bar on a first-come, first-served basis.

    ·      Westside: Your 3rd Spot is turning Halloween into a full-blown celebration with Halloweek plus a third anniversary party, running from Friday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 2. The arcade-meets-lounge transforms into a Tiki-Hallow playground with 100+ games, themed cocktails, and the haunting Treehouse of Terror photo booth.

    ·      Dunwoody: For those who prefer their thrills in the kitchen, Vino Venue is hosting a Pumpkin Fright Fest cooking and wine pairing class on Friday, Oct. 31.

  • Chef Scott Conant’s The Americano to Reopen with Refreshed and Rooted Menu

The Intercontinental Buckhead shines a little brighter as Buckhead’s first Italian steakhouse, The Americano, reopens with a revamped menu that takes a more inspired, rooted, and soulful approach to celebrity chef Scott Conant’s cuisine.

After the restaurant was forced to shut down due to a kitchen fire in March 2025, Conant and the team at The Americano took the incident as an opportunity to press reset. The Americano blends bold and contemporary well, with sophisticated gold wire light fixtures, modern art, and a sleek design that creates an elevated atmosphere. From rich pastas to hearty steaks and savory fish, The Americano leads with flair and quality. But Conant said he knew it was time for a refresh when it came to the menu. With help from their partners, LT Hospitality, they were able to rise from the ashes and emerge renewed.

“I think you could make a case that it may have been the best thing that ever happened, truly,” Conant said. “I think we took that opportunity and morphed it into something that we’re evolving into, and everyone is embracing. From ownership to the GM of the hotel to the marketing team, to the entire front-of-house team, as well as the back-of-house team, it’s something that we’re really excited about.”

The two-time James Beard Award-winning chef is known for his passion for Italian cuisine, but he said he isn’t beholden to one region or technique. When curating the menu, Conant knew he wanted the dishes served to guests and locals to deeply reflect his nearly 40-year culinary career.

“I wanted to do something that’s personal and heartfelt and something that makes sense for my style of food rather than a steakhouse.”

The relaunched menu merges the new with the old, emphasizing local produce and taking dishes such as the focaccia ripiena and turning it into a focaccia barese with heirloom tomatoes, broccoli rabe presto, and garden herbs served in a cast-iron skillet. Chilli-spiced shrimp and tuna crudo are new additions, and caesar salads are out in favor of a fresh and comforting fagiolini salad with warm lentils, purple potatoes, “sweet grass” cheese, and truffle vinaigrette.

Southern influences come into play throughout the menu, but especially with dishes such as the frito misto, which adds green tomatoes and pickled okra to the deep-fried seafood appetizer;  the Georgia peach crostata, an addictive tart with vanilla gelato drizzled with aged balsamic; and the iberico pork chop topped with molasses and a balsamic glaze.

The menu also features dishes such as the foie gras triangoli with a marsala reduction, Conant’s popular gnocchi al pomodoro with his signature sauce, and a fennel-spiced coastal grouper with smoked potato puree. The bar program still boasts creative drinks such as the newly added la pomodoro cocktail, a mix of limoncello, citrus vodka, rosemary, Roma tomato, and lemon with a basil garnish.

“I want to make sure the guests are happier when they leave out the door.”

The Americano is now open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Raising Cane’s continues Georgia expansion, city of Snellville’s next

Raising Cane’s continues Georgia expansion, city of Snellville’s next

Raising Cane’s, the popular fast-food chain known for its crispy chicken tender meals, is opening a new location on Scenic Highway in Snellville on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Located at 1416 Scenic Hwy N., the doors of the new restaurant will open at 10 a.m., but the grand opening celebrations start earlier with giveaways, surprise guests and a DJ.

“We’re expanding here in Gwinnett County, and Snellville is just one of the communities that’s continuing to grow. With the partnership that we’ve had between Dacula and Buford, we thought it was a great opportunity to continue to expand that throughout the county,” said Jeremy Sheffield, the regional vice president of restaurants for Raising Cane’s. “We’re here for a great relationship with our community, and we know that the people of Snellville value great quality food. We thought that it would be a perfect fit for our next location here in the Peach State.”

The grand opening will feature various giveaways, the first being a drawing where 20 customers aged 13 and older who show up to the restaurant between 7-9 a.m. can win free Cane’s for a year. To show their appreciation for teachers, the first 50 teachers who show their school identification beginning at 4 p.m. will win a free swag bag. The first 100 dine-in customers who purchase a combo will win a commemorative beanie and a free box combo gift card they can cash in during a return visit.

The team will also present a check to Exceptional Futures, a nonprofit organization empowering programs for adults with special needs while supporting parents in their journey of caregiving.

It’ll mark the fifth Georgia location for the chain which operates on the slogan of “One Love.” The menu is a simple combo of what it does best: chicken tenders with a combo of fries, toast, coleslaw, and its Cane’s sauce. The simplicity of the menu and its marketing has drawn a loyal group of customers, especially in Georgia. One example of that loyalty is seen from the line of cars that snake the roads of its Athens location during game days and on a regular weekend.

As for opening a location in the heart of Atlanta? Sheffield said those waiting for the chain to open a restaurant within the city limits will be awarded as they’re currently looking at two sites in Midtown and Buckhead. The Georgia expansion continues with locations planned for McDonough, Conyers and Duluth.

With a new location comes a new community of customers, and Sheffield said first-timers can expect quality food delivered with speed and emphasized by a great culture.

“We have a great culture here, and I think the connection that our crew members have with our customers is second to none. We’re just excited to be here in Snellville.”

The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight on Sundays-Thursdays and 10-1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
