  • Jaelin Kauf, Elizabeth Lamley make Olympic podium in wild debut of dual moguls

    [ad_1]

Jalen Gough was born on the slopes. The oldest child of professional mogul skiers, her mother Patty is *** 3-time X Games champion. One of the first Americans to qualify for the games in Italy, Jalen is one of the favorites to win gold. But before we talk about her skiing, let’s talk about her dancing. Last year, Cough and her US mogul’s teammates went viral after performing the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader’s famed thunderstruck routine. Impressed by her moves in ski boots, America’s sweethearts invited her to dance with them pregame last fall. I was very nervous. I was like shaking, meeting the cowgirls and dancing with them. Um, I mean, I feel like the nervous competing is, you know, you get the jitters, but like. I know that run. I know how to ski it. I’m nervous to like dance with professional dancers is like I don’t know how to dance. This is like not so out of my comfort zone, but um it was really cool to be able to do that. Something else that’s. Last March, she won the Mogul’s World Championship, conquering the course in Lavino, where she’ll be skiing during the Olympics. Like I feel really great with where my skiing is at right now. Prepared, focused, and ready to earn her first Olympic gold. And to indulge *** bit on some of the food at the games. I’m going to be eating *** lot of pizza and pasta the whole time. I could never get sick of either of those foods. So Kough’s longtime boyfriend Bradley Wilson is also *** mogul skier, *** three-time Olympian. He retired from the sport after the 2022 games in Beijing. On the road to Milan Cortina, I’m Fletcher Mackle.

  • Lindsey Vonn continues to turn back the clock, qualifying for the Winter Olympics at 41

    [ad_1]

It’s been one surprise after another lately from Lindsey Vonn. And the announcement that the 41-year-old slopes queen has qualified for the Milano Cortina Olympics in February isn’t the last of it.

It might have been her post on Instagram that stated unequivocally that this will be the end.

“I am honored to be able to represent my country one more time, in my 5th and final Olympics!” Vonn said.

Vonn’s remarkable and inspiring comeback from injuries and a seven-year hiatus from top-level competitive skiing has injected the U.S. team narrative with an irresistible story line. That her quest will culminate in the mountains of northern Italy just two months from now will make it must-watch television and social media video.

The last two weeks have thrust Vonn back onto the international stage as well as the podium, which she climbed in four of her first five races this season. That includes a spectacular win in the downhill in St. Moritz, Switzerland, on Dec. 12.

That marked her first World Cup victory since 2018. And now it’s official that Vonn will compete in her fifth Olympics where she won gold in the downhill and bronze in the super-G at the 2010 Games in Vancouver and bronze in the downhill in the 2018 Games in PyeongChang.

Much of the astonishment circles back to her age. Vonn’s win in St. Moritz made her the oldest woman to win a World Cup race — by seven years. Federica Brignone of Italy set a record a year ago when she won 10 races at age 34.

She also is the first World Cup winner with titanium implants in her right knee. And she’ll become the first quadragenerian to lead the U.S. Alpine skiiing squad seven years after she had all but retired.

In a moving column on Feb. 10, 2019, at the World Championships, The Times’ Helene Elliott wrote what essentially was a sendoff for Vonn: “She went all out to the very end, because that’s the only way Lindsey Vonn knew how to ski. She was bruised and battered as she went to the start gate on Sunday for the final race of her career, sore all over and her right eye blackened by the impact of a crash she suffered during a super-giant slalom race earlier in the week at the World Championships. Her ligaments tore and her bones sometimes broke but her competitiveness was never dimmed, never dented, never compromised.”

Well, 2026 is around the bend and Vonn is back and intact, her competitiveness never compromised still. She has not officially qualified for the Olympics in the super-G, but she’s the fastest American and No. 3 in the world, so count on that as her next headline.

“Lindsey qualifying for the 2026 Olympic team is a testament to her resilience and dedication, and the remarkable results she’s delivered on the World Cup this season,” Sophie Goldschmidt, U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “She’s proven once again that elite performance isn’t just about past success, it’s about rising to the moment, race after race.

“We’re thrilled to cheer her on at the Olympics.”

  • Trump’s presidential plaques include falsehoods

    [ad_1]

In a break from tradition, President Donald Trump decorated a White House walkway with bronze plaques for each U.S. president. In an even sharper break with tradition, the plaques were written in a style echoing Trump’s Truth Social posts, with misleading or false descriptions of recent Democratic presidents.

Former President Joe Biden, who Trump calls “Sleepy Joe,” is represented not by a portrait but by a photograph of an autopen, the use of which Trump has falsely said invalidates Biden’s pardons.

Biden’s plaque says he took office “as a result of the most corrupt Election ever seen in the United States.” That’s false. Trump and his allies filed dozens of lawsuits contesting the 2020 election results; they lost more than 60. And a group of Republicans, including former federal judges, examined Trump’s statements about fraud and miscounting and found they didn’t present evidence that would invalidate the election results.

The plaque also says Biden oversaw the “highest Inflation ever recorded.” While inflation was the highest in four decades under Biden, the highest ever occurred in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Former President Barack Obama’s plaque calls him “one of the most divisive political figures in American History,” even though his retrospective favorability rating in 2025 is the highest of any of the past five presidents, at 59% favorable, according to Gallup. Trump’s favorable rating in the same poll was 48%.

Obama’s plaque said his Affordable Care Act — which made it easier to obtain health insurance when employers don’t offer it — was “highly ineffective.” The percentage of uninsured Americans dropped from 14.8% in 2012, before the law was fully implemented, to 8.6% in 2016, Obama’s final year in office.

Obama’s plaque says he “spied on the 2016 Presidential Campaign of Donald J. Trump,” but multiple independent investigations, including bipartisan Senate reports, found no political influence over the FBI investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Treasure Investments Corporation Receives Heroic Monument Commission From Boyne, USA

    Press Release

The Gatlinburg SkyLift, which initially opened in the 1950s, is one of the oldest continuously operated attractions in the Smoky Mountains. The popular attraction is located directly across the street from Ripley’s Believe It or Not in downtown Gatlinburg. This vintage chairlift transports visitors to the top of Crocket Mountain for an amazing panoramic view of the National Park and quaint town of Gatlinburg below. It is the number one scenic overlook in Gatlinburg.

Mark Russo, CEO of Treasure Investments Corporation (TIC), was contacted by one of the principles of Boyne, USA, owner of the SkyLift Resorts, and inquired about TIC’s ability to create the monument. “I received an email inquiry and quickly returned the call explaining that I have been involved with the creation of literally hundreds of monument projects, from 60’ bronze eagles to larger than life whales, animals, religious and historical themes and made installations for parks, zoos, casinos, hotels and incredible sites and locations around the world. After sending a few photos showing the world-class quality of our work, the quick time it takes us to complete a project, and our collaborative process we landed the contract.  They sent over a great concept in a drawing, we made it much better and to their liking and now we are creating exactly what the customer wants,” says Russo.

We are creating exactly what the customer wants.

Mark Russo, CEO, Treasure Investments Corp

TIC starts with input from a client about subject, design, size, and medium. Once TIC thoroughly understands what the customer is looking for, a series of renderings are created and modified until it is precisely what is desired. Once agreed upon, a small scale version is created and cast in usually bronze, but other mediums can be requested including resin or precious metals. With the small image complete and accepted, TIC will then go to production on the heroic piece.

The larger than life-size bronze bears will be complete in about eight weeks and will be installed in the new SkyLift patio area in a recently renovated part of the resort.

This project marks the 7th heroic bronze sculpture to be delivered by TIC in just this year alone.

Treasure Investments Corporation attended its first-ever Barrett-Jackson Conference in Connecticut.

As stated on the Barrett-Jackson website homepage, “Barrett-Jackson produces The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions® in Scottsdale, Arizona; Palm Beach, Florida; Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to the millions watching the event via live worldwide television coverage on Discover channel and Velocity, over 500,000 people are in attendance at all four auctions, looking to witness auction action at its best, capture the car of their dreams, learn more about collector cars through ‘Behind the Hobby’ symposiums, mingle with celebrities, experience heart-stopping thrill rides in the latest vehicles from America’s top automakers – or shop in the vast Exhibitor Marketplace.”

Why not bring the most amazing motorcycles in the world to show with our finest bronze and silver sculptures?

Mark Russo, CEO, Treasure Investments Corp

Treasure Investments Corporation (TIC) partners with Marine Turbine Technologies (MTT) and Ted McIntyre to display both an incredible fine art collection and the world’s fastest production jet-powered motorcycles. “I met Ted, a true engineering genius, almost 20 years ago when I purchased my first jet-powered motorcycle, right after Jay Leno bought his. I visited the Barrett-Jackson event in Scottsdale last year and witnessed exhibits that were amazing and an audience that spent several-hundred-million dollars on cars in just a few days. At that moment, I knew we had to get a booth at this amazing event, but not just with fine art; we needed to bring something automotive-based. So I thought – why not bring the most amazing motorcycles in the world to show with our finest bronze and silver sculptures? I wanted to bring the two together and not only did we do it, but dozens of people said we had the best booth at the show. Our booth overflowed with attendees; we couldn’t speak to everyone. Our team was positively overwhelmed,” says Mark Russo, CEO of TIC.

Barrett-Jackson was an incredible success for TIC. The company learned a lot from the show and identified new market opportunities. TIC is preparing to be a major exhibitor at the big Barrett-Jackson event in Scottsdale, Arizona, early next year.

Treasure Investments Corporation (TIC) set up a spectacular display at the 147th National Rifle Association Annual Meeting (NRAAM) in Dallas, Texas. TIC displayed in a 10’ X 20’ booth space located in one of the main conference halls.

“Our booth space was in a good location. We also placed three separate art displays at all registration locations and that was magic, as we knew it would be hard for nearly 100,000 people attending to see all the booths considering the massive size of the conference halls,” said Mark Russo, CEO, Treasure Investments Corp.

    Nearly 100,000 people attending.

“The three strategically placed art displays drove clients right to our booth and produced great results as we sold large collections, mainly of our eagles and patriotic themes,” says Russo.

TIC donated one of its eagle sculptures to the NRA main auction event which raised $20,000 at the live dinner gala during the conference.

This was TIC’s first appearance at the NRA Annual Meeting and the results were so good, the company will be attending next year’s event in Indianapolis. “We are very excited about attending next year’s event. Our booth will be even bigger and will include a larger collection of art,” says Russo.
