Fox News Analyst Has Damning Description For Trump’s Disastrous Interview

Longtime Fox News analyst Brit Hume didn’t hold back on Monday after Donald Trump’s rambling performance during an interview with the right-wing network.

“His answers on the matters of the law seem to me to verge on incoherent,” he told Bret Baier, who spoke with the former president.

Trump, who pled not guilty last week to 37 charges related to the classified documents scandal, said he didn’t give back the material when subpoenaed because he’s been “very busy” and hasn’t had the time to go through the boxes to sort out his personal items.

Hume attempted to sum up Trump’s comments to Baier:

“He seemed to be saying that the documents were really his, and that he didn’t give them back when he was requested to do so and when they were subpoenaed because, y’know, he wasn’t ready to because he hadn’t sorted them and separated the classified information or whatever from his golf shirts or whatever he was saying.”

Eventually, Hume practically gave up trying to decipher it.

“It was not altogether clear what he was saying, but he seemed to believe that the documents were his, that he had declassified them ― evidence to the contrary ― and therefore he could do whatever he wanted with them,” he said. “I don’t think it’s gonna hold up in court.”

Hume also noted that Baier gave Trump a chance to deliver a message to the suburban female voters that turned against him in 2020.

“His answer was to talk about how he didn’t lose the 2020 election,” Hume noted. “I don’t think that’s an appealing message for the future.”

He said the interview probably didn’t go over very well among those trying to advise the former president.

“I’m sure his legal and political advisers were wincing all the way through his answers on both those points.” he concluded.

Fox News Analyst Uses Trump’s Go-To Insult Against Him

Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume said Donald Trump was a “loser” in the 2020 election as he cast doubt on the former president’s chances in 2024.

Hume said it was “inevitable” that Trump would attack DeSantis “because, obviously, Mr. Trump recognizes that this governor, who just won reelection by nearly 20 points, is at the moment, in the eyes of most people, a winner.”

“Whereas he, Mr. Trump ― although there’s skeptics about how it happened – was a loser,” he added.

Trump has used the term “loser” liberally to castigate individuals and groups he doesn’t like ― including political rivals, journalists, media organizations, terrorists and celebrities.

DeSantis, who is widely expected to be a contender in the 2024 presidential campaign, cruised to reelection victory in the November gubernatorial election. Many commentators dubbed him the biggest winner of the midterms and Trump the biggest loser, after a spate of Trump-backed candidates failed to win their seats.

So far, only two Republicans have announced their candidacy for 2024: Trump and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley.

Fox News Analyst Offers Stark Reality Check For Trump: ‘His Star Has Faded’

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume said Monday that Donald Trump’s “star has faded” among Republicans and warned the GOP now faces a “bloody” battle to get past the former president ahead of the 2024 election.

Trump, who on Tuesday is widely expected to announce a run in 2024, has been blamed for GOP’s poor showing in the 2022 midterm elections, in which many of the candidates he endorsed lost, the Democrats held the U.S. Senate and the House could result in a very small majority for Republicans.

If “you look at these election results, candidates to follow that line, who agreed with him about that, did not fare particularly well,” said Hume. “I think that in terms of opinion and in terms of influence, his star has faded.”

Hume acknowledged Trump was still “a big factor” but said “getting past him for the Republicans looking ahead to 2024 could be ugly,” “bloody” and “painful.”

“It could cause enough Republicans who were for Trump to, you know, to move away, be disaffected in 2024,” he added. “So, that’s the hardest job they have, is to try to work around Trump.”
