  • Woman goes on date with boyfriend—he expects them to share an entree. Was her reaction valid?: ‘Breaking up over brussel sprouts says a lot’

There’s no doubt that dating has always been an expensive activity. As prices increase and inflation is still high, it’s turning into a luxury to take significant others or potential partners out on a date. Now couples are resorting to splitting the bill or meal.

While money can be the death of a relationship, so can the way it’s handled. When this woman wanted to add an extra entree, her boyfriend’s reaction boiled her blood, igniting conflict in the comments section about relationship behaviors. TikTok creator Liz (@liz_bizness) recounts the incident in her car.

“Yesterday, I’m at dinner with my soon-to-be ex and we usually get one entree. It just depends on the plate and how hungry we are,” she says. “So, we pick the pasta, and then I say, ‘I also want to order brussels sprouts.”

In her mind, she didn’t see a problem. “It’s fifteen dollars. You know people go out and each get a thirty plus dollar entree,” she states.

However, the content creator’s boyfriend felt differently. “He goes, ‘Well. I thought we would just get the one thing. I don’t really wanna. I’m not that hungry,’” she recalls him saying.

Needless to say, this ticked Liz off. “Well, I [expletive] am. Am I breaking the bank for you?” she says angrily. “I don’t think this is a money thing. You’re just really annoying.”

Once the server stopped at their table, he subtly saved the day. “Then, the waiter comes and asks for our order. He looks at me after [ordering] the pasta and is like, ‘Oh, and the brussels sprouts,’” she shares.

“Yes, that is literally what I said,” the content creator concludes.

Ultimately, it isn’t the Brussels sprouts that stirred her anger, but rather the hypocrisy. “All about what he wants. I’ve seen this man spend $300 in one night on drinks. Also he loved the appetizer,” Liz explains in the caption.

    Viewers Were Divided

The video garnered over 17,000 views. Despite the explanation, some didn’t understand why it warranted a breakup.

“Breaking up over brussel sprouts says a lot,” one viewer remarked.

“If you are dating and he doesn’t want to spend that much, you should pay,” a second stated.

Meanwhile, fury was sparked among the majority for what they believed was thoughtless on her boyfriend’s part.

“It’s not a money thing, it’s a respect thing,” one commenter wrote.

“No he’s inconsistent, incompetent, and frugal. It’ll be hard and he’ll try to minimize your needs as time go on,” another explained.

“If a man won’t happily feed you at a restaurant he took you to, he is not the man you want to spend your life (or time) with. And I say that as someone who happily gives to those I love,” a third said.

Have People Become More Selfish In Relationships?

Indeed, they have. Although the brain is naturally hard-wired to be giving and altruistic, selfish behaviors have increased over the span of decades. However, Fortune reported the pandemic drove it into full swing, especially in young people, resulting in being prone to stress, distrust, and neuroticism. Besides affecting their mental and physical health, selfish tendencies also impact relationships, with Utah State University listing the behaviors that can spell disaster:

    • Lack of empathy
    • Always prioritizing their needs
    • Avoiding responsibility
    • Lack of emotional av aiablitiyy
    • Constantly taking but never giving
    • No compromise
    • Communication constantly revolving around them

    5 Pick-Me-Ups After a Breakup

This weekend, I texted my friend Gemma

“Life is supposed to feel a little gray during these stages right?” I asked. I was sad about my recent breakup; the dark winter felt endless; and things I usually enjoyed — seeing a movie, taking a long walk, daydreaming about travel — felt blah and uninteresting. Was I depressed or just…human?

“Yes, you’re supposed to feel gray,” she texted back. “The feelings will move through you, and sparkly feelings will then replace them. Buy yourself some deli flowers today (in person, it makes a difference) and a new shower gel that smells amazing (again, in person). Next time I see you I will hug you so hard you will wonder at my brute strength.”

Since Gemma always knows best, I went outside, crunched through the snow, and picked out pink flowers (pictured above) from the bodega. They have since bloomed beautifully and look very cheerful on the kitchen counter.

Then Anton and I headed out to find a luxurious body wash. This one was the obvious winner — it smells sooooooo good. And Gemma was right, having a low-stakes mission out in the world, getting fresh air, and smiling at strangers felt bolstering.

    5 Pick-Me-Ups After a Breakup

We then returned home to play with speed stacking cups, which we discovered at the Guinness World Records Museum a few years ago. We have become extremely fast cup stackers, ngl, and the best part is, when you’re carefully building little blue towers, you don’t have time to think about missing someone.

    5 Pick-Me-Ups After a Breakup

That night, my friend Mo brought over cool stickers to make vision boards…

    5 Pick-Me-Ups After a Breakup

…and, knowing how nice it feels to get into a good book, I dove into this gripping novel which follows the relationship between a female robot and her human owner. It explores themes of intimacy, power, sex, and autonomy, and I keep staying up until midnight reading it.

    5 Pick-Me-Ups After a Breakup

Finally, I once read that when you break up with a romantic partner, you often miss the physical touch, along with the actual person. My friend offered to rub my shoulders the other day while watching TV, and now I’m going to remember to offer a shoulder rub to friends going through something in the future — it’s such a gift!

    5 Pick-Me-Ups After a Breakup

I saw this lip balm at a store, and it made me laugh

Overall, it’s hard to be sad — I wish I could skip it — but I know you have to run through the storm. How are you doing these days? What cheers you up when you’re down? Sending the biggest hug to anyone (everyone?) who needs one. xoxoxo

P.S. Four things to say to a friend after a breakup, and five more pick-me-ups.

  • Like Lenny Before Her, Zoë Kravitz Appears to Have Mastered the Art of the Amicable Split

Like father, like daughter, Zoë also seems to really mean it when the old “let’s still be friends” gambit is trotted out. She married actor Karl Glusman in June 2019. After 18 months of marriage, in December 2020, the couple filed for divorce. By 2022, she was already gushing in an interview with Elle that her ex was “an incredible human being.”

She expanded on her philosophy of romance, which sounds a lot like her dear old dad: “All my relationships in life—my friendships, my romantic relationships, my family—the journey is learning how to show up honestly,” she said. “Sometimes we can’t show up, and that’s okay as long as we know how to communicate that we love those people.”

Her most recent serious public relationship was with Channing Tatum, who starred in her directorial debut, Blink Twice, and to whom she got engaged along the way. Though they split in October 2024 after about three years, their breakup was—you guessed it!—amicable, according to sources.

After the breakup, a source told Page Six that the two “both handled the breakup very maturely” and that there was “no bad blood” between them. She continued to sing his praises in life and work, telling Elle in February 2025 that having her ex-fiancé in a leading role in her directorial debut wasn’t a problem.

“I love this thing that we made together, and I care for him very much,” she said. “Even when you bring up how great his performance is, it warms my heart to hear that, and I’m so happy that all of it happened. I just feel so grateful that we got to go on that journey together.”

Even her earlier relationships still get the amicable split label: A source insisted that she and Penn Badgley, whom she dated from 2011 to June 2013 and were in what Badgley described as “real, true, earth-shattering love,” ended on “good terms.” “It wasn’t a sad breakup,” the source said. That rumored Drake romance in 2013, complete with kissing photos at a Beyoncé concert? In 2017, Zoë slyly confirmed on Watch What Happens Live that they “hung out for a minute,” adding that “we are very good friends.” Singer-songwriter Twin Shadow, who was romantically linked to Zoë from 2015 to 2016, wished her a happy birthday on social media in 2024, calling her “the sweetest kid.”

In 2014, she was briefly rumored to be dating Chris Pine. There’s no bad blood there, as evidenced by the fact that he attended the 2019 pre-wedding rehearsal dinner held for her and Glusman in Paris with his girlfriend.

In an uncertain economy, side hustles are the norm now. In the unlikely event their acting and musical careers see a downturn, perhaps Lenny and Zoë could cash in by teaching a subscription masterclass in the art of the amicable breakup.

  • Is Nina Dobrev TikTok Telling on Shaun White in the Aftermath of Their Breakup? An Investigation

Parting is such sweet sorrow, but post-breakup tea isn’t such a terrible flavor profile either, as it turns out. Retired Olympic snowboarder Shaun White and actor Nina Dobrev broke up after five-and-a-half years of dating—the final 11 months of which they were engaged—media outlets confirmed last week. Neither White nor Dobrev has commented publicly on the split. What’s done is, as they say, done, so why are the amateur sleuths of the internet pledging their allegiance to Team Nina and shrieking about Bob the Builder while discussing whether they need to go full Vampire Diaries on White?

Wondering how a diminutive cartoon handyman fits into this narrative? God, isn’t everyone. Dobrev posted a TikTok on September 5 (the split was reported nearly a week later, on September 11) lip-synching to trending audio that invoked Robert T. Builder’s informal name and retroactively raised suspicions of Shaun-foolery along with eyebrows in the wake of the breakup news.

“How do you sleep at night knowing people don’t like you? With no underwear in case they want to kiss my ass,” said the audio over which Dobrev lip-synched to the camera. “What’s your advice for women trying to fix their man? Listen, Bob the Builder, he’s got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you all look like a damn construction crew.”

For those wondering, the audio appears to originate from an account called Bad Bitch Granny and features two bougie elderly white women on a plane holding dogs that give off an air of canine fanciness. One of the women—and both dogs—are wearing sunglasses. Throughout the full clip, six different beverages, by my count, appear onscreen in varying configurations and states of fullness. You get the drift. The next question in that video, after the point where Dobrev’s audio cuts off, pertains to what to tell attention seekers. “Roses are red, violets are blue, I don’t give a big fuck what you do.” Well well.

While reps for Dobrev and White did not respond to Vanity Fair’s request for comment, an unnamed source told Us Weekly that “Nina is devastated” in the aftermath. “They had finally started planning the wedding and things were in motion,” this “insider” said.

Now is a fantastic time to remember that media literacy and critical thinking apply just as much to analyzing celebrity news as political reporting. The same day that Dobrev posted the TikTok in question, September 5, she also posted an Instagram carousel of photos of her Greek getaway with White, featuring some lovey-dovey cuddle-time schmoop, sheet masks, and enviably aquamarine waters. Ooh, ahh, see how it sparkles and wonder whether Dobrev enjoyed People We Meet on Vacation, her pictured reading material. Given that the two pieces of social content were posted on the same day, it seems semi-reasonable to wonder whether something happened after the Insta to prompt the Tok, with news of the split becoming public later. Did White do something that made the answer to Bob the Builder’s evergreen question—“Can we fix it?”—“No, we can’t”?

A look into the guts of both the TikTok and Instagram post reveals exactly when each of the pieces of content was posted. So which came first? According to the metadata, the Instagram post was shared at 19:11 UTC (3:11 p.m. ET) and the TikTok was posted the same day at, drumroll please…18:04 UTC (2:04 p.m. ET), meaning the TikTok preceded the Instagram post by about an hour. The theory fit until it simply didn’t.

Do with that what you will. Also remember that you probably don’t know either of these people and should examine your investment in their relationship as closely as I did the code, and we’ll see you on the next episode of True Detective: Internet.

  • Love Island USA Winner Amaya Papaya Says Bye-ya to Bryan

Photo: Ben Symons/Peacock via Getty Images

It looks like the glass slipper broke on its way back from Fiji. Boo! Two days after the reunion aired, our Love Island USA winner, Amaya Espinal, confirmed that she and Bryan Arenales are no longer together. “After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys,” she wrote on August 27. “Our visions didn’t align and relationships are suppose to be a team sport.” The confirmation comes just days after they unfollowed each other on Instagram. Later the same day, Amaya claims in a TikTok comment that Bryan broke up with her hours before he went to Miami “doing the exact things you told him hurts your feelings.”

Despite being a fan favorite to everyone watching, Amaya Papaya had a difficult journey trying to find love in the villa; several people, like her former match Ace Greene, said that her affectionate pet names were too much for them. Eventually, Bryan defended her during a challenge, and they officially became a couple, splitting the $50,000 grand prize. At the reunion on August 25, Bryan addressed rumors he was cheating on Amaya at a club by saying that nothing happened besides him having a little too much fun pouring shots. Miss Papaya did leave us with one perfect Amaya-ism to give us a clue as to what happened between her and Bryan: “You don’t have to drink the whole sea to know it’s salty.”

  • Steps for Surviving A Breakup

    Steps for Surviving A Breakup

5 Healthy Steps for Surviving A Breakup After 50

You can read the blog below or watch it on YouTube by clicking here

Healthy Step #1. Take the time you need to heal

When a relationship ends, you’ll need some time to process and reflect on what happened.

Sometimes you know why it ended and sometimes, you really don’t.

To get a clearer perspective of what happened, you’ll want to ask yourself a couple of questions that will help you to understand what went well and what went awry in the relationship so you can recognize it and not repeat it in the future.

    1. What did I love about this man and the relationship?

    2. What didn’t I love about both him and the relationship?

    3. What do I wish could have been different?

    4. What was my role in the relationship that contributed to the breakup?

    5. What are the lessons I learned from being with this man?

    6. What qualities from this man and this relationship would I like to take into my next one?

Healthy Step #2. Be really kind to yourself right now

Try these pampering, fun ways to lift your spirits while you’re in the healing process.

    • Treat yourself to a beautiful new journal and write down on paper all of the emotions you’re experiencing. This will bring clarity to your situation and will help you release a lot of the anger, sadness and grief you are feeling.
    • It’s nice during a sad time to have some  one take care of you and make you feel momentarily better. Get a relaxing massage to release both the emotional and physical toxins from your body, or pet your dog, or ask a friend for a good hug. You could probably use lots of them right now.
    • Head out with a friend to your favorite restaurant and over lunch or dinner process the relationship and the breakup. You’ll feel loved and supported by someone who really cares about you.
    • Make or buy your favorite comfort food. Whether it’s macaroni and cheese or a certain cookie your mom used to make . . . it will momentarily take you back to warm and fuzzier times.
    • Watch old TV shows or movies that make you laugh. You know what they say . . . laughter is the best medicine
    • If you are up to it, volunteer somewhere or offer to assist a friend with a project. Helping others can make you feel better and take your mind off your own troubles for a bit.
    • Everything can feel really blue after a breakup so consider starting a gratitude journal and write down  3 wonderful things you are grateful for today . . . even if it’s the sky is a beautiful blue or my dog loves me. It’s going to keep you grounded. And it will help you counter some of the sadness that can be overwhelming for you right now by reminding you that good things are still happening around you.

Healthy Step #3. Allow yourself to grieve and mourn the end of a relationship

    Don’t hold back.

    Let the tears flow.

It’s healthy, it’s a release and it will ultimately help you heal.

Should the sadness get too heavy, get support from a counselor or a trusted friend to help you cope.

Healthy Step #4. Wait to date until you’ve healed

It’s tempting to substitute one man for another but it rarely works.

When you don’t take the time you need to reflect and heal before dating again, you end up bringing open wounds – better known as baggage from your past – into a new relationship.

You’ll know when the time is right to date again because you don’t feel the same intensity of emotions like anger or sadness that you might be feeling now.

Healthy Step #5. Discover yourself again and create a great relationship with you while you are waiting to date

When you’ve been with someone for a while, it’s hard to imagine creating a single life again.

Getting back in touch with yourself can be both exciting and a lot of fun while you’re going through the healing process.

Try signing up for classes you’ve always wanted to take or go see a fun chick flick by yourself or with a friend.

Sign up at MeetUp.com for fun activities that interest you.

You’ll get to meet new like-minded friends who love doing what you like to do plus you’ll get out and have fun.

    Breakups are hard.

Yet, when you can see them as an opportunity to get clarity and to heal, you will find that new doors start opening again fairly quickly.

All you have to do is be willing to open that door when you’re ready . . . then walk through it to discover the magic that could be waiting for you on the other side.

    How exciting!

So my question to you is how have you coped in the past with a breakup?

I’d love to hear about your healing process and how it worked for you.

  • Dear Jane Texts

    Dear Jane Texts

Why ‘Dear Jane’ Texts even when your over 50 are so hurtful and what to do if you get one!

You can read the blog below or watch it on YouTube by clicking here.

Technology has made life easier in so many ways.

Whatever you need, can be taken care of in minutes making it a quick and efficient way to deal with life.

Unfortunately, technology has a downside and that is texting has become the modern way of ending relationships in the 21st century.

It’s the new Dear John/ Dear Jane say of ending the connection with someone you’ve been dating.

Instead of a letter, it’s now done with a text.

I know because it happened to me when I was dating.

I met a man named Matt online.

He and I really hit it off.

It’s embarrassing to admit but he was the first guy I ever dated where my knees nearly buckled when I’d see him . . . he was one handsome man to look at.

Our dating relationship was easy and fun.

We could talk for hours about anything and everything.

He was one of those guys that knew when something was wrong just from hearing the sound of your voice.

That was a huge check on my ‘What I’d like in a man checklist.’

We were in the beginning stages of a relationship when I had to travel to California for a conference.

During the week apart, we kept in touch with long conversations on the phone.

Two days before I was heading home, he told me how much he missed me and how he couldn’t wait until I got home.

So imagine my surprise when I arrived home and received this text:

“Hi, Lisa- I’ve enjoyed our time together but I feel we got too close too fast. I really like you but I need some space.  I’ll call you in a few weeks.  Matt”

    I was stunned.

I had no clue why he was blowing me off when only days earlier, he had professed such care and concern for my well being.

If we had only dated once or twice, I would have understood.

But we were supposedly in a relationship and he ended it in the most impersonal way possible.

I remember feeling so hurt and emotionally devastated because I had no idea why this had happened.

I texted him hoping he would have an answer for why he decided to end our relationship.

He didn’t answer and he never called again.

Sadly, texting has become the new way to break up.

For the person who wants to split, it’s easy and drama free not having to answer the BIG question of Why?

And they don’t have to experience how the breakup may have hurt someone’s feelings.

Just a quick goodbye via text and the relationship is done.

For the person on the receiving end, it’s tough because there’s no closure.

If this happens to you, the best thing you can do is close the book on this chapter of your dating life.

Don’t stalk him on Facebook. (I did – I wasn’t a dating coach then – and found out an old girlfriend had come back into his life. I now had the answer but it didn’t make it easier.)

If this happens to you, take some time to heal.

Don’t sit around waiting for him to call.

You want a man in your life who respects you enough to do the honorable thing.

When you’re ready, get back out into the dating world and look for someone who’s a better fit for you.

As hard as it is to get a Dear Jane text, keep in mind that when one door closes a much better one can open.

I know it opened for me and so many of my clients and I know it can for you too!

    Your Coaching Program is PRICELESS!

Lisa, the valuable insight you shared has opened my eyes to staying empowered dating at this time in my life. From your vast knowledge, I learned about “me” and why my relationships failed. Each day reminding myself how to connect to the right man making him my “hero” for a long-lasting relationship. I am so thankful I worked with you. What you & your coaching program has done for me is priceless. Thank you!  Christine, North Carolina

  • Sike! Ari Fletcher And MoneyBagg Yo Are Still In Love And ‘Married’ Days After Public Breakup

Sike! Ari Fletcher And MoneyBagg Yo Are Still In Love And ‘Married’ Days After Public Breakup

Ari Fletcher Ari Fletcher recently lit X up by publicly ending her relationship with rapper MoneyBagg Yo. However, it looks like Ari is still in love after she seemingly changed her mind about her relationship status.

    Source: Paras Griffin / Getty

MoneyBagg Yo recently released a music video for his song, Bussin. In the video, the rapper can be seen in several rooms of a mansion. Per usual, he flexes his stacks of cash, loads of jewelry, and large lifestyle. The video also featured his longtime girlfriend, Ari Fletcher.

The music video went viral on social media as fans admired the couple. Nevertheless, the couple’s drama was too much for Ari to bear. Hours after the video was released, the mother of one took to X, formerly known as Twitter, with her new relationship status.

“I’m so f***ing single,” she tweeted.

When a fan expressed their confusion, she continued with another tweet, “F**k that song and that video.”

MoneyBagg Yo Shuts Down Ari’s “Single” Status Days Before She Claims They’re “Married

MoneyBagg Yo responded to Ari’s tweet, denying their relationship had ended.

Before Ari’s tweet, the rapper posted to Instagram, praising her after she appeared in his video. However, the influencer doubled down on her position. In a now-deleted tweet, Ari asked her followers what to expect for her first summer as a single woman.

Seemingly, Ari is still in love because just a few hours after her Hot Girl Summer inquiry, she tweeted that she is married and loves MoneyBagg Yo.

She has not made any other statements regarding the short break-up. MoneyBagg Yo never made an official statement, but he may have thrown a little shade Ari’s way when he tweeted his skepticism about people using what he goes through against him.

Several of Ari’s tweets have been deleted, including her tweet about being married to MoneyBagg Yo. Still, her tweets about being single and her disdain for the viral music video remain on her page.

We wish the couple all the best!

The source added that both rappers are busy with their careers. Additionally, that’s where their focus remains at this time.

A Recap Of The Pair’s Romance

As The Shade Room previously reported, Saweetie and YG were initially spotted together in April 2023. At the time, the pair dined at a restaurant in Indio, California, and afterward, Saweetie paid for the meals of fellow patrons.

In March, photos surfaced of the pair showing off a ton of PDA while vacationing in Cabo, Mexico.

Since then, the pair have remained out of the spotlight. However, Saweetie took to Instagram earlier this month to share a snippet of her unreleased music.

YG then entered The Shade Room’s comment section with a brief message, seemingly throwing shade at Saweetie.

  • Lupita Nyong’o Says Her Life Was Turned “Upside-Down From Heartbreak”

Lupita Nyong’o Says Her Life Was Turned “Upside-Down From Heartbreak”

In the wake of heartbreak, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o has found that old friendships are keeping her afloat.

Nyong’o shared a sweet ode to pal Palmer Hefferan in an Instagram post on Thursday, writing about how her friend, whom she met when they were roommates at the Yale School of Drama, “is the kind of friend that I can count on through thick and very thin. We don’t have to talk every day, but when we do, we pick up exactly where we left off, like no time at all has passed.”

Nyong’o recently went through a breakup after being linked to TV host and journalist Selema Masekela for about a year. In late October, she wrote on her Instagram that she was “in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.”

She said that Hefferan, a Tony-nominated sound designer, rushed to her side when Nyong’o was at a low point amid the split.

“Recently, when my life was turned upside-down from heartbreak, Palmer flew in swiftly to be by my side and help me through the hardest days as I adjusted to my new reality,” Nyong’o wrote alongside a carousel of photos of herself and Hefferan. “She made me delicious meals, she found me therapeutic activities to get my mind off things, she cried with me and made me laugh until I cried a more joyful kind of tear. She did not tire of being of service to me.”

Nyong’o recalled Halloweens past, when Hefferan would make sure she had a costume for them to go out and have fun, and said that “the biggest gift she bestowed on my life was helping me get my first pet, Yoyo. Now every time I look at him and cuddle with him, I am reminded of the selfless love my sister from another mister showed me.”

“I will never be able to pay her back for the kindness she has shown me, and the beauty of the friendship is that it is never about evening the score!” Nyong’o wrote. “But I have every intention to try.”

  • The Weird Vibe Isn’t Aliens, Pete Davidson Is Just Single Again

The Weird Vibe Isn’t Aliens, Pete Davidson Is Just Single Again

Do you feel that? That….certain something in the air? The universe seems to be one point off its usual tilt: Congress is talking about UFOs, we have overlapping retrogrades of Venus and Mercury, a former president’s mugshot is floating around and it looks like a Kubrick still, all that—but that’s not it. No, this vibe shift is purely due to the fact that Pete Davidson is single once more. This calls for constant vigilance.

Davidson and Chase Sui Wonders, who met while co-starring in Bodies Bodies Bodies and went on to work together again in Davidson’s semi-autobiographical comedy show Bupkis, have called it quits after eight months of dating, according to People.

Apparently, Davidson is chill about it. The 29-year-old Saturday Night Live alum and once and future King of Staten Island (official royal conveyance: impulse purchase ferry boat that even Colin Jost couldn’t resist, natch) is “out and about and doing really well,” an unnamed source told the magazine.

The two’s past adventures include a minor car accident which involved crashing into a fire hydrant in Beverly Hills, and adopting a cavapoo puppy.

In late June, Davidson reportedly voluntarily checked himself into rehab, with a source saying at the time that he “should be getting out pretty soon.”

In the past, Davidson has been romantically linked to Emily Ratajkowski, Kim Kardashian, and Ariana Grande, to whom he was engaged, among others. Now that he’s once again single, perhaps it’s finally the chance Dionne Warwick has publicly yearned for.

Vanity Fair has reached out to Davidson’s representatives for comment.

  • Sarah Brady Shares More Alleged Jonah Hill Texts, Claims Actor Was “Sexting” Her After Their Breakup

Sarah Brady Shares More Alleged Jonah Hill Texts, Claims Actor Was “Sexting” Her After Their Breakup

Sarah Brady, the professional surfer and law student who previously dated Jonah Hill, has released more screenshots of alleged text messages between her and the actor in August 2022, showing a conversation about his then-new relationship with Olivia Millar.

In the screenshots, which Brady shared on Instagram Stories Monday, Hill allegedly wrote, “I know I don’t need to but in the spirit of pure respect to our friendship and appreciation for each other I did want to be transparent that I did start dating someone recently.”

He allegedly continues, “I’m sorry if that is painful. It just happened and I didn’t want to not be transparent with you ever as I care about you.”

In the screenshots, Brady responds in a text the next day by asking Hill to respect her “own personal chicks before dicks code” and “make that woman aware of how recently you’ve been flirting with me, sexting me, and leaning on me for partner level emotional support.”

In response, Hill allegedly asked Brady not to “ruin all the kindness. You’re better than that.”

Brady then responded with a screenshot of a July text from Hill telling her he’s “holding my hard [redacted].” Hill shot back by telling her that “screenshotting intimate texts between us is a huge triggering violation for me and breach of trust as a friend.” He goes on to tell her that “you have been treated in fact incredibly both emotionally and financially.”

This flood of screenshots of alleged exchanges is a continuation of Brady’s public claims that began last week, accusing Hill of controlling and gaslighting behavior during their relationship that started in 2021 and ended sometime in 2022. She showed screenshots of alleged texts from Hill claiming that “your therapist thinks I suck. I literally am the best boyfriend. On earth.” She also claims he told her to delete photos of herself in swimsuits, not surf with men, and cut off friendships with “unstable women,” among other demands.

Hill and Millar welcomed their first child recently, his team confirmed to the press, though details and the exact date of this event have not been shared. Hill has been vocal in his desire to stay out of the spotlight and was noticeably absent from sister Beanie Feldstein’s wedding this May. In August 2022, around the same time that Brady claims the latest text messages she shared were sent, Hill wrote an open letter explaining that he’d be opting out of promoting his films because of mental health struggles and anxiety attacks.

In previous Instagram stories, Brady claimed that Hill had been “running out of ways to manipulate me” and began “questioning my sanity and medications” in relation to her bipolar disorder diagnosis.

In one of the stories she posted Monday, Brady commented that “It may seem as if I am sharing a lot, but you all have no idea how much more there is which I am choosing not to share out of consideration for him and his family.”

In a post to her Instagram feed July 7, Brady shared a photo of herself in a crop top and skirt, captioning it “reviving a pic I took down by request of a narcissistic misogynist.”

  • Chelsea Handler Reveals Membership in the “Surprise, a Three-Way and Subsequent Hookups With a Masseuse Led to a Breakup” Club

Chelsea Handler Reveals Membership in the “Surprise, a Three-Way and Subsequent Hookups With a Masseuse Led to a Breakup” Club

Let’s play a counting game, shall we?

One: There is one comedian named Chelsea Handler

Two: Two people are in a romantic relationship: Handler and former NBC Broadcasting chairman Ted Harbert. (Ed note: This was back from 2006 to 2010, but let’s not get carried away with such large numbers just yet.)

Three: Handler and Harbert had a threesome with their female masseuse.

Several: Handler hooked up with the masseuse several more times after their initial encounter, which is “when I knew it was time to break up with the guy,” Handler told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM radio show Thursday.

OK, so maybe we skipped a few digits, but the premise is there, right?

Handler, 48, dropped the decade-old tea when Cohen asked her if she’d ever dated a woman. “I’ve slept with a woman, but I haven’t dated a woman, no,” she responded. She then explained that she’d had a threesome with her boyfriend at the time and another woman, calling it “fun” and said, “I was very turned on by this woman, I ended up hooking up with her several times without the guy that I was dating.” She then realized that it was probably not such a great sign for her relationship that she was more attracted to the guest star than her then-boyfriend.

She then named Harbert specifically as the boyfriend in question, before saying that she hadn’t told him that she’d hooked up with their masseuse beyond the threesome.

“I don’t think I ever revealed that, but hopefully he’s listening now,” she said, then casually discussed how she’s pretty sure Harbert and his wife are in Portugal, building a new house.

Handler began hosting her E! talk show, Chelsea Lately, in 2007, then later began dating Harbert, who was technically her boss as the head of the network umbrella. In 2012, she told Marie Claire that she and Harbert had broken up because they couldn’t separate work and pleasure.

“I would come home from work, and Ted would be like, ‘Do you want to watch your show?’ and I’d be like, ‘No, I just came from my show. That’s the last thing I’d want to do,’” she said. “That was the reason it didn’t work out, ultimately. I think.”

And as for those who share late comedian Joan Rivers’ belief that Handler “made it on her back, fucking the president…of the network,” as she said in 2012 on a Howard Stern appearance, here’s another thing you can count on: Handler doesn’t care.

“Not really,” Handler said to Cohen when asked if the speculation bothered her. “That stuff doesn’t matter if it’s not true. Obviously, I’ve had a career now for like 25 years, I don’t really care if anyone thinks that.”

VF wasn’t able to reach Harbert for comment and NBC did not immediately return a request for comment.

  • Taylor Swift Goes Back to Work With a Wink

Taylor Swift Goes Back to Work With a Wink

Baby, let the games begin: Taylor Swift played her first date of her sold-out Eras Tour since news of her breakup with Joe Alwyn reached the devastated masses, and she has something to say. Like, not much, but something

“Is it just me, or do we have a lot of things to catch up on?” she asked the crowd during her multi-hour set. Of course, she didn’t elaborate, but there’s not a lot of room for improv in the elaborately choreographed and produced show. Thursday was the first night of a three-night run in Tampa, Florida’s Raymond James Stadium.

In the slot of the evening where Swift has been playing two surprise songs, which she says she won’t repeat on other tour dates, the singer played “Speak Now” and “Treacherous,” saying, “I’ve been thinking a lot about one of my albums recently. One of my albums has been on my mind a lot… lots going on in my brain about it.”

One sharp-eyed redditor noticed that Thursday was 10 years from the date of a journal entry Swift had released, in which she said she landed on her third album’s title, Speak Now, with sentiments that may predict how she’s feeling now that she’s in her openly single era.

“I didn’t talk in interviews about how I felt about much of what has happened in the last 2 years,” she wrote in the 2013 entry, loglined from Nashville. “I’ve been silent about so much that I’m saying on this album. It’s time to Speak Now.”

Swift shook it off for several high-profile fans, including, reportedly, former president Barack Obama and Michelle ObamaAaron Dessner, a Swift collaborator and member of the band The National, was also spotted in the crowd. Comedian Mike Birbiglia shared a photo of himself with Swift Thursday in what looks like Park Slope, Brooklyn, leading us to wonder whether teleportation is also among the star’s many talents, or the slightly more likely scenario that the photo was snapped during Swift’s New York visit over the few days she had between the Tampa stand and her last dates in Arizona. She was busy, after all, with the pyrotechnics in the UK to show for it.

Tampa has given Swift quite the welcome ahead of her stopover, naming her honorary mayor for a day (just when you thought Floridian politics couldn’t get any spicier), but the content that will be sticking with us for a long time to come is this message from Hillsborough School Superintendent Addison Davis to the students of the district. Presented without further comment, here’s….this.

  • Panic! At the Barre Studio: Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde Almost See Each Other at the Gym, and Then Don’t

Panic! At the Barre Studio: Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde Almost See Each Other at the Gym, and Then Don’t

What’s long, lean, and had a very public breakup? Please welcome to the stage, your friends and mine, Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde

It is with a deep sigh that we report that the exes were both spotted at celebrity fitness guru Tracy Anderson’s Studio City fitness studio Wednesday. Sounds juicy, right? Fresh squeezed? Some pulp? Probably $12, minimum. Some quality juice, right?

Nah. Styles and Wilde haven’t been together together since their breakup in November after nearly two years as a couple, and they weren’t physically together yesterday, either. Don’t worry, darling—Styles arrived at the studio about half an hour after Wilde left. May the only sweat that drops over this news be due to cardiovascular effort, not our fascination with the duo’s saga.

Anderson’s workout, which emphasizes high-rep, low-weight movements to tone “accessory muscles,” feels like an apt comparison for the Styles-Wilde split, actually. First of all, we’re obsessed with both of them. Gwyneth Paltrow is business partner to Anderson, and other celebs, like Lena DunhamJennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham, Miss Piggy, and many, many more, have pledged allegiance to Anderson’s micro movements. Thanks to studios on both coasts, plus a series of at-home DVD and streaming workouts, normies can get in on the method as well. Likewise, here we are, breathlessly following the romantic travails (or not) of Wilde and Styles.

In fact, we’re following it so closely and often, that you might even say that it’s, well…high-rep and low-weight. That there are actual headlines about them having what I wouldn’t even consider to be a near-miss, not even being in the same place at the same time? It’s barre class’ “up an inch, down an inch,” a burn that builds over time and you don’t realize is wearing on you until you go to sit down later in the day and surprise yourself by making that involuntary grunt-squeal noise of effort on your way down.

They haven’t been together for so long! It’s been months! Remember how long ago the whole salad dressing thing was? That was shortly before they split up, it’s been so long. Heck, Styles was recently spotted smooching Emily Ratajkowski. He’s moved on. The fact that he, a celebrity, and his ex, also a celebrity, happened to work out at the same place, on the same day, not even at the same time, is less dramatic than the time I saw my neighbor in the freezer aisle at Trader Joe’s in the next town over (when you need mini peanut butter cups, you need mini peanut butter cups). What are the odds? We’ve gotten so used to this constant speculation and will-they-won’t-they exposure (they won’t) that it feels normal until we take a beat to realize, oop, the news of their split was like five months ago, and they seem to be largely chill with one another, if Wilde rocking out at Styles’ concerts the same week as the break was announced is anything to go by.

Boutique fitness has never met a euphemistic term it doesn’t love, and there are roughly 47 different ways to refer to your butt during a group workout class. I’ve heard “seat,” “glutes,” “rear,” even “ledge” (that one is for what I’d like to think of as your thutt, where your thigh meets your butt). I’ve had barre instructors coach me to “let my seat muscle float just an inch off the ground,” as if my butt has taken on a life of its own and has decided to take its leave of me to achieve its true potential. The one word for butt that I haven’t heard in class is the word, well, butt.

The gossip world has been, traditionally, less prone to elision. Though that’s not to say it hasn’t had a place here and there. Certainly that was the case with Wednesday’s non-news cycle. Now, we’re straining those glutes to the max, floating that seat up, up, and away, chronicling “near-misses” and “different priorities” to avoid just flat-out saying what we really know about Harry and Olivia.

Let’s just call it a butt, folks: Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde, separately, exercised on Wednesday. The end.

  • Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn Have Split After Six Years

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn Have Split After Six Years

International pop sensation Taylor Swift and British actor Joe Alwyn have broken up, as per reports in ET Online and People. Swift, the 12-time Grammy Award-winner, is currently in the middle of her Eras Tour, which heads to Tampa, Florida next week. Dates are scheduled through early August, and a five-night run at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, with international engagements “to be announced.”

When ET Online broke the story on Saturday night, they wrote that the split occurred “a few weeks ago.” A source said that the breakup was “not dramatic,” and that “the relationship had just run its course.” The news sheds some light on why Alwyn, 32, has not been spotted at any of the 33-year-old Swift’s shows. The Eras Tour began in mid-March at State Farm Stadium outside of Phoenix, Arizona.

V.F. has reached out to both Swift and Alwyn for further comment.

As recently as this January, Alwyn was joking around with the press about a possible engagement with the diamond-selling artist. “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins,” he said, before adding, “I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.”

Considering the level of Swift’s fame, the relationship between the couple has always been relatively private. It is believed that the first couple met at the Met Gala in May 2016. (Swift decoders point to the 2017 song “Dress” as a clue, as it features the lyric “Flashback to when you met me/your buzzed cut and my hair bleached,” which lines up with the pair’s ‘dos at the time.) That fall, Swift attended the premiere of the Ang Lee film Billy Lynn’s Longtime Walk, in which Alwyn starred, at the Arclight in Los Angeles. Paparazzi shots of the two as an apparent item didn’t emerge until summer 2017. In September 2018, Alwyn talked about Swift during an interview for the first time, but to say “I prefer to talk about work.”

Earlier this year, Swift’s video for “Lavender Haze” included what many interpreted as a reference to Alwyn with an image of their zodiac signs, and at roughly the same time, Alwyn uploaded a pic of Swift’s cat Meredith to his Instagram stories. But now, just two-and-a-half months later, we have this news.

People noted that, beginning on March 31 in Arlington, Texas, Swift changed the setlist of her tour to include “The 1,” a breakup song. It replaced “Invisible String,” which focuses on two soulmates.

While Swift continues performing to sold out arenas this year, Alwyn will next be seen in Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos’s new project AND, which costars Margaret Qualley, Jesse Plemons, and Emma Stone. He’s also been announced as playing Laertes in an upcoming film version of Hamlet starring Riz Ahmed and Morfydd Clark.

  • Nia Long Says Ex-Fiancé Ime Udoka’s Affair After 13 Years Together Felt Like “a Gut Punch”

Nia Long Says Ex-Fiancé Ime Udoka’s Affair After 13 Years Together Felt Like “a Gut Punch”

Nia Long is speaking out for the first time about her breakup with her partner of 13 years, Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka, describing the recent, very public demise of their relationship as “a gut punch and then this red carpet of blessing.”

In a new cover story for The Cut, the actor explained, “For the last 22 years, I’ve been pouring out. But at a certain point, you’re like, ‘Woo, I’m looking a little tired.’ Even if I can’t see it, I can feel it. So I try to pour into myself and let everyone know this is a ‘do not disturb’ period.” In September 2022, the Celtics suspended Udoka over reports that he “had an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff,” per The Athletic. Long says she still doesn’t see why this very private matter had to be handled by the team so publicly. “The Celtics made a choice to make my family business public, and I don’t understand why. It could’ve all been handled internally,” she told the magazine. “I do understand why, but I can’t talk about it. Maybe one day I will. You know, fear drives stupidity, and I’ll leave that right there. I’ve learned that I’m stronger than I ever thought I was.”

The Boyz n the Hood star went on to explain that she’s been getting through this difficult time in her life by prioritizing her youngest son, 11-year-old Kez, from her relationship with Udoka. She revealed, “My only focus right now is my youngest son ’cause he’s having a really tough time. I’m sure I have some things that I’m suppressing, but I have to do that to take care of him first. That’s the giving. It’s natural. I’m sure I’ll have to circle back with myself several times to reconcile things. But the one thing I’m trying not to harbor is anger.” She added that she’s still just trying to figure out what happened between her and her ex “Because, you know, you’re with someone for 12, 13 years, you think you know them.”

Thankfully, following the cheating revelation, Long was met with a flood of support from the public which she says “saved my life.” The actor continued, “It saved my mental well-being because I felt uplifted by the community in a way that felt like my family was checking in and making sure I was okay. And that, I appreciated. I have that for people like Beyoncé. I look at her, and I’m so proud of her because I know how difficult it is to sustain and manage everything she has in her life. My life is probably a smaller version of that. Black women that are dynamic and famous and there to inspire are also required to be exceptional, and sometimes I just get tired of being strong. That’s my biggest thing: I don’t want to have to be strong. I would like to just have an experience that’s pleasant. But the difference comes down to race. Race matters and makes a difference in your experiences and the way people treat you, respect you, and regard you — and the way people protect you. Malcolm X said the least protected person in America is the Black woman. That quote resonates big time in my life right now.”

But while she may still be reeling from that breakup, don’t expect Long to shed any tears over the end of her 13-year relationship. “I don’t cry as much as I used to,” she confessed. “I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing, but I do check in with myself and let people know how I feel, for better or worse. ’Cause I’m not holding on to nonsense, and I’m also not passive-aggressive. I say it and sometimes it’s received, sometimes it’s not, but in any case, it’s my truth.”
