Ever since the release of RRR in March 2022, there has been ample of speculation on the shooting schedule of India’s biggest director, SS Rajamouli’s next fronted by Mahesh Babu. The film was initially slated to go on floors in 2023, however, the maverick filmmaker needed more time to finish his script and also get equipped with international technology for this African Jungle Adventure.

SSMB 29 screenplay is expected to be locked by December

While it’s still a work in progress on the pre-production front, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that SS Rajamouli and the team are looking to start shooting for SSMB 29 from April 2024. “SS Rajamouli and his father, KV Vijayendra Prasad, are presently busy giving finishing touches to the script of this African Jungle Adventure. The entire screenplay draft is expected to be locked by the end of this year,” revealed a source close to the development.

The source further added that a team is simultaneously working on the tech check for this jungle adventure. “After RRR scaling new heights, SS Rajamouli has become the global face of cinema. He is in talks with two global studios (Disney & Sony) to partner on this feature film with the idea of taking the content to the remotest corners of the world. While the storytelling pattern will stick to the Indian flavor, the visuals will be a result of some of the best of technology coming into play. The shoot will take place at real locations as also sets in India and abroad,” the source informed adding further that Mahesh will undergo extensive prep for this film.

Rajamouli to make a rooted jungle adventure with Mahesh Babu

While the world is that of a global jungle adventure, we previously reported that Mahesh Babu’s character will have traits of Lord Hanuman in the film. “Rajamouli films are deeply rooted in Indian Mythology and Epics, and the upcoming jungle adventure will be no different. He is a master of his craft and knows how to merge the Indian tales in a format that makes it a must-watch big-screen spectacle,” the source concluded.

The workshops for Mahesh on SS Rajamouli’s next begin early next year, right after the release of his Trivikram-directed Guntur Kaaram. There is also a chatter within the industry about a spin-off to charaters from Bahubali in the offing, but we have not got clarity on the same from credible sources. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

  • Mirroring The Industry: Siddharth Anand directs two big IP’s for YRF Spy Universe with War and Pathaan

Mirroring The Industry: Siddharth Anand directs two big IP’s for YRF Spy Universe with War and Pathaan

    [ad_1]

Much like Hollywood, even the Indian Film Industry is slowly and steadily transitioning into the model of franchises and IP’s. In 2019, Siddharth Anand directed Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in War and four years later, he directed Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in Pathaan. Siddharth Anand was entrusted by Aditya Chopra to lay the platform for two franchises for the mighty YRF Spy Universe, and the filmmaker has given two of the biggest IP’s to Indian Cinema with War and Pathaan.

Siddharth lays the platform of War 2 and Pathaan 2

The success of the two films have beautifully led itself towards a demand in the audience for War 2 and Pathaan 2, which should get into the making stage sooner or later, expanding the YRF Spy Universe further. Back in 2019, the Siddharth Anand directed War raised the bar of action in Indian Cinema with action set pieces not seen before on the screen. The introduction scene of Hrithik Roshan is still the talk of the two, followed by the single take action sequence introducing Tiger Shroff. Sid over the years has created the knack of presenting the stars as stars, giving them the requisite positioning of a larger-than-life hero among the audience.

The same can be said for Pathaan too, as every frame of the film presents and celebrates the aura of Shah Rukh Khan. The director identified the hidden action star that rests beneath the romantic image of SRK, and played to the gallery in Pathaan. The same can be said for his presentation of John Abraham too. He broke the mould of John and took him back to days when he aced the characters with grey shade and made a villain look cool again. What surprised was also Deepika Padukone as Rubai, who got her moments to shine in Sid’s direction. Pathaan today is poised to be the highest grossing Hindi Film of all time by topping the collections of Dangal and will soon be looking to challenge Bahubali 2 and KGF 2 as well.

Audience eager for the return of Pathaan and Kabir

The spice of any franchise rests in the character, and today, there is an urge among the audience to see more of the characters – Kabir, Khalid, Pathaan, Jim and Rubai – directed by Siddharth with the creator of YRF Spy Universe, Aditya Chopra. A great man once said, ‘it’s not a story that’s franchise-able, but it’s always the character,’ and the presentation of any character depends on director’s conviction. Interestingly, pandemic also couldn’t get the better of Sid, as he is the only one two direct an outright blockbuster before the pandemic with War and after the pandemic with Pathaan. ‘Stardom is like an arrow and it’s on the archer to hit the bullseye,” said SS Rajamouli once, indicating the stardom will always do its work provided the director knows how to utilize it. Slow and steady, Sid has surely gotten into zone of directing superstars in the zone that fans can identify with. War… Pathaan… and next up is Fighter.. Sid is definitely ready to fly even higher in the days to come.

  • Pathaan Day 2 Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan demolishes all records; Headed for Rs 70 crore on Republic Day

Pathaan Day 2 Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan demolishes all records; Headed for Rs 70 crore on Republic Day

    [ad_1]

Pathaan has demolished all records at the box office on it’s second day by an unheard margin as trends indicate a second day total in the vicinity of Rs 70 crore. The Shah Rukh Khan led actioner was running to packed houses across the board with unprecedented demand for addition of shows in tier 2 and tier 3 centres. The Siddharth Anand directorial clocked an occupancy of 65 percent on it’s second day, despite releasing on over 5500 screens with over 20,000 shows a day. Be it the single screens or the multiplexes – Pathaan has recorded unimaginable occupancy all across and managed to surpass all the expectations on its second day. The Hindi version is looking to collect in the range of Rs 68 to 71 crore, the Tamil and Telugu dubbed version are expected to put in another Rs 2 to 3 crore to the total.

Pathaan runs riot at the box office across India

While the national chains were already operating with optimum capacity on the opening day, the real growth has come at relatively smaller multiplex chains like Rajhans and MovieMax, apart from the single screens.. While Rajhans scored a record-breaking growth of 150 percent over the opening day, MovieMax grew by 45 percent on it’s second day. These jumps have come despite the film performing at excellent occupancy on the day of release. It’s a single day record in both the chains and this shall stand tall for a long time. Even Miraj has shown excellent jump of 40 percent on it’s second day and created an all-time single day record in the chain.

    MovieMax

    Wednesday: 0.79 Lakh

    Thursday: 1.15 crore (+45%)

    Miraj

    Wednesday: 2.15 crore

    Thursday: 3.00 crore (+40%)

    National Chains:

    Wednesday: 27.02 crore

    Thursday: 31.75 crore (+18%)

There are some single screens too which performed to optimum capacity on second day. Ashok Cinema (Pune) collected Rs 91,000 on Wednesday and showed over 100 percent growth on Thursday to collect Rs 1.92 Lakh. There’s Radhakrishna Cinema in Chandrapur which as jumped 3x from Rs 76,000 on Wednesday to Rs 3.25 lakh on Thursday. It’s a similar scenario at single screens all across the nation, as Pathaan has pumped in oxygen in multiple dead cinema halls in the interiors of India. There are some other cinema halls in Mumbai like Fun Square in Sanpada and Nishant Cinema in Grant Road, which have been running to empty house for years now and it was a sight on sore eyes to see them put up a houseful board. UMA in Solapur grew from Rs 1.99 lakh to Rs 2.65 lakh.

Pathaan clocks the biggest single day collection of all time

Pathaan has recorded the biggest single day ever for a Hindi Film and also the biggest single day ever for a film in Hindi Market. The film has destroyed all the previous records by a margin of 27 percent, and the second day biz of Pathaan is a record that shall stay intact for a long time. The two-day Pathaan (All India) stands at approximately Rs 128 crore, and the film is fast headed to score a record-breaking opening weekend in the range of Rs 150 crore. The film is already the #1 film of Bollywood as far as records like biggest opening day, biggest single day, biggest second day and biggest opening weekend is concerned and in the days to come, it will topple many more records. In-fact, by the end of it’s run, there is a high chance for every major box office record, including the biggest grosser of all time, to be under the name of one man i.e. SHAH RUKH KHAN. The 2nd day business of Pathaan is of unheard proportion, surpassing all the predictions and theories of the film industry.

    Pathaan Day Wise Box Office:

    Wednesday: Rs 56.50 crore

Thursday: Rs 70 to 73 crore (Estimate)

Note: These are estimates based on samples received from limited centres and actuals might be marginally higher or lower than the estimated range. We shall bring out another update on exact business of second day by Friday at 1 pm. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on the box office of Pathaan.

And now, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that the Gujarat Government has come in support of Pathaan and promised a police protection for the film release during the Republic Day weekend.
