  • The boho bob is having a moment – here’s how to style it

    [ad_1]

Bobs aren’t going anywhere. As we approach the end of the summer, 2025’s favourite haircut is still front and centre. Say hello to the boho bob.

Perfect for those looking to refresh their short style, but are after something more effortless, the boho bob is a versatile cut with a more tousled and textured feel at the opposite end of the spectrum to sleek, blunt bobs.

If you’re looking for a new style as autumn approaches, here’s everything you need to know about the boho bob.

    What is the boho bob?

“Think of the boho bob as a softer, freer version of the traditional bob,” Melissa Timperley, founder of Melissa Salons, tells GLAMOUR. “The beauty of this style is that it’s long enough to tie back, but short enough to feel fresh and modern. It strikes the perfect balance between structure and effortlessness – ideal for those who want a low-maintenance cut that still makes a statement.”

You’ll have already spotted the style on everyone from Hailey Bieber and Gigi Hadid to Lily Collins and Selena Gomez. But don’t worry, it’s not too late to join them as the style works just as well for autumn and it does for summer.

Who does the boho bob work best for?

The best part about the boho bob is that it works for (almost) everyone. Unlike more blunt bobs – which can accentuate longer or more square face shapes – the versatile boho bob can be tailored to hide or highlight your face shape.”Where the cut ends is where the eye is drawn,” says Melissa. “If you’re not keen on highlighting your chin, avoid a chin-length bob and opt for a slightly longer version to draw the eye downward.” While anyone can try out the style, Melissa says that rounder or fuller faces benefit the most, by “adding movement and elongation”.

If you’re looking to take the plunge, Gem Schwartz, founder of Taylor Rose Hair, suggests bringing your favourite reference images to help guide your stylist. “Ask for a bob that sits between the chin and shoulders with floaty layers and soft face-framing movement,” she advises. “If you want extra fullness, speak to your stylist about adding a few rows of micro ring or keratin extensions or even tape-in hair extensions just around the baseline or mid sections. It’s a subtle enhancement that can transform the cut without making it look like you’re wearing extensions at all.”

All the celebrity bob haircuts of 2024

    [ad_1]

Is 2024 the year of celebrity bob haircuts? Judging by the red carpets, awards shows, and fashion events we’ve seen thus far, it certainly seems so.

Bob haircuts dominated the Golden Globes and Emmys red carpets, and J.Lo and Rihanna debuted especially chic, and somehow wildly different, chops while in Paris for Haute Couture Week. And to think we’re not even a full month into the year!

This, of course, comes as no surprise. Because while many hair trends come and go, the bob haircut will truly never go out of style. Going chin length makes an immediate statement, grabbing attention and putting focus on your face. Shorter haircuts are also significantly less high-maintenance over all.

But best of all? Bobs are extremely versatile. From the undone bob to the lob, there is no one way, no “right” way, to wear a bob. Just take it from the handful of celebrities boarding the bob train this year.

No matter your bob preference, the best celebrity bob haircuts of 2024 are sure to inspire your next chop. Ahead, see all of our favourite bobs of the year, and get ready to screenshot for inspo.

  • Kate Beckinsale looks completely unrecognisable with a blonde bob

Kate Beckinsale looks completely unrecognisable with a blonde bob

    [ad_1]

Kate Beckinsale boarded the bob train, and I quite literally did not recognise her. Not that that’s a bad thing — the Underworld star has simply never looked cooler, which is pretty impressive, seeing as she looks cool all the time. She did, after all, wear a Playboy Bunny outfit to her own 50th birthday party, and she showed up to Leonardo DiCaprio’s with an enormous gem hanging from her waist.

Beckinsale didn’t just debut the shortest haircut we’ve ever seen her with, but also a brand-new colour, too. Joining the ranks of Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez, and Keke Palmer, the 50-year-old traded in her lengthy brunette locks for light honey blonde.

We’ve said it once, maybe twice before, but we’ll say it again: 2024 is undeniably the year of honey blonde. And, separately, side bangs, which Beckinsale seems to cosign, having worn hers parted to the side and slightly covering just one eye à la Taylor Swift’s winter ‘do.

As for who’s responsible for her festive new look? Beckinsale’s bob was cut and styled by Dimitris Giannetos, who is known for his shocking bob haircut transformations (see: Meredith Duxbury’s pumpkin spice Italian bob).

“We wanted to do a change with Kate right before holiday season, so why not to do ‘blob,’ or a blonde bob, that highlights all her beautiful features?” Giannetos told GLAMOUR US. “Kate has a skin tone where any colour can look incredible on her — especially a salted butter blonde.”

As for how he created the finished style? “I used MoroccanOil before using a one-inch curling iron to create some loose waves, then sprayed Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo to finish and give some extra texture,” he says.

Celebrity makeup artist Jose Corella oversaw her glam, which ties right into the outfit, which was styled by fashion editor-turned-stylist Gorge Villalpando. In photos shared on Instagram, Beckinsale wears a crimson trouser suit complete with a matching bra and platforms that are somehow the exact same shade as her bright red lipstick. Basically, everything about this look screams understanding the party season assignment. And also a little bit of sexy Santa, which is a compliment. ‘Tis the season, after all.

  • The ‘Old Money blow-dry’ is your go-to for glamorous hair this party season

The ‘Old Money blow-dry’ is your go-to for glamorous hair this party season

    [ad_1]

It was only a matter of time before quiet luxury went beyond Sofia Richie‘s blazers and ballet pumps to become a dominant trend in the hair space. The ‘Old Money blow-dry’ is a case in point. Characterised by soft bouncy bobs, salon-worthy waves and sleek ponytails, this is an elevated take on basic styles – and it ticks every box for the festive party season.

According to hair stylist Luke Hersheson – who works with everyone from Victoria Beckham to Dua Lipa – the Old Money blow-dry is the definition of polished hair. “There’s lots of shine and a little movement but essentially it is very brushed, full, glossy-looking hair,” he says.

From Succession to Gossip Girl, popular TV programmes have been fuelling our obsession with the aesthetic for some time. Then TikTok joined the party with offshoots such as the coastal grandmother.

Now Old Money is back in the spotlight courtesy of season 6 of The Crown. Margot Robbie‘s new film Saltburn will be fuelling the trend, too. To put this into perspective, #OldMoney has garnered over 11.2 billion views on TikTok, with #OldMoneyAesthetic amassing 142.3 million views.

But it’s our hair that is currently taking centre stage with timeless Old Money styles. Better still, you don’t actually have to possess huge sums of money to give the appearance that you’ve inherited a small fortune.

Classic hair accessories such as haberdashery bows and headbands are one way to lean into the aesthetic. Karlie Kloss delivered a masterclass in making the black hair bow look modern – not prissy – at this year’s Met Gala, while Jennifer Lawrence has sparked an entire micro trend around headbands, especially the black leather version that is her go-to of late.
