There are certain affordable brands that celebrities seem to gravitate toward en masse, and Madewell is undoubtedly one of them. One of its many celeb fans is Blake Lively, who just wore one of the brand’s best fall pieces while out in NYC. The piece she chose was Madewell’s Bedford Oversized Blazer. With its roomy fit, belted waist, and wool fabric, it’s a blazer masquerading as a perfect fall jacket. And as Lively displayed, it looks perfect with jeans and ankle boots.
Although Black Friday may still be two weeks away, some sites have already begun their sales, and Madewell is one of them. Now through November 15, the code LETSGO will get you 30% off sitewide, and that includes on Lively’s cool, classic checked blazer. And to take maximum advantage of the early Madewell Black Friday sale, I found a few other jackets and blazers that are worth your consideration. Scroll to shop before the sale wraps up.

Per usual, the current Madewell offering is about as top-notch as it gets. To help inspire your shopping needs (whether you’re looking to upgrade your own wardrobe or need a few gifts to celebrate the season), I pulled together an edit of the items I think are particularly chic.
Keep scrolling to check out beautiful sweaters, the best jeans, gorgeous outerwear, and more from the Madewell Black Friday sale.

Some types of consumer electronics are already discounted more than a month before Christmas Day, but retailers are expected to roll out the sweetest deals of the year during the traditional price-slashing window between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Through November 16, shoppers can find 10% to 20% discounts on televisions, video game consoles, computers and other tech gear, according to Adobe Digital Insights. That lets consumers get a jump on their holiday shopping while still saving money.
“Now is a good period for consumers,” Adobe Digital Insights manager Vivek Pandya told CBS MoneyWatch.
But consumers will have to weigh what is most important — getting the best deal or ensuring they getting the exact tech product they want.
“What they are negotiating is waiting for best discounts between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday, or trying to get some of these items before they sell out,” Pandya said.
For shoppers who want to hold out for the greatest savings, it could pay to wait for the “Cyber Five” period, the five-day span between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday, to buys products like TVs and sound systems. Other electronics will be discounted by as much as 30% on Cyber Monday, according to Adobe.
For TVs, look for discounts on Black Friday, which this year falls on November 24. The best day to shop for deals on computers will be Saturday, November 25, according to Pandya.
But retailers are nimble, and if they don’t clear enough inventory during that period, they can introduce surprise discounts on other dates too.
“There are going to be competitive moments to get discounts throughout the season,” he noted.
After Cyber Monday on November 27, discounts are likely to weaken but will remain as high as 16% off, Adobe projects.
Melissa Tatoris, vice president of retail at Zeta Global, also expects the best electronics deals to land on Cyber Monday, although shoppers could still find deep discounts later in the season.
“Retailers will be flexible if they have to go a couple basis points deeper toward the holidays because they didn’t clear their inventory,” she told CBS MoneyWatch.
After Christmas, retailers typically mark down any remaining seasonal inventory.
In years past, the best day of the year to score deals on electronics typically fell after Christmas on Dec. 27. But retailers are not expected to have a lot of excess inventory on hand this year.
“The risk with waiting until after Christmas is that typically that is when retailers mark down their extra seasonal inventory. However, retailers this year are signaling that they are doing a better job with forecasting and that their supply chains are in better shape,” Deloitte retail strategy principal Brian McCarthy told CBS MoneyWatch.
“As a consumer, I could take my chances in getting a post-Christmas deal, but would risk the chance of not having a lot of selection,” he said.

If you’ve recently contemplated revamping your wardrobe, now is the time to do it. Holiday deals are already rolling out, and among them is Revolve’s Black Friday 2023 sale. Right now, there are major discounts on dresses, denim, accessories, and more, and even a preliminary scroll has us lusting after celebrity-worthy items that will no doubt improve our everyday outfits.
Just like in the past, Revolve’s Black Friday 2023 sale will only get better with time. While we’re currently stocking up on holiday dresses, cozy sweaters, statement heels, and even loungewear, it’s pretty much confirmed we’ll be back for round two or three, even thinking ahead to the warmer weather and summer months (we’re already eyeing a few swimsuits). We’re ready to take advantage of those holiday prices, especially since items such as GRLFRND jeans and Norma Kamali dresses are included in this mix.
Revolve‘s Black Friday sale includes dresses, denim, knitwear, accessories, and even beauty products, and the best part is that you won’t have to wait until Nov. 24 to take advantage. Discounts are available to shop now, in early November — and stuff is already selling out.
Just like in 2022, Revolve’s Black Friday 2023 sale will continue throughout the month, with new items being added periodically. While there are already major discounts available on the site, with markdowns up to 70% off, it can be assumed that Revolve’s Black Friday deals will only get better as we approach Thanksgiving. Based on last year’s sale, there may be a Cyber Monday sale to shop as well.
Brands such as Levi’s, Lovers and Friends, Free People, and NBD are included in Revolve’s Early Black Friday sale for 2023. Plenty of prices are in the double digits and some hot-ticket items are already selling out — so you’ll want to grab your size while you can!

Sizes Available: 23 – 32
The Internet is constantly debating which jeans trend to buy now, but if your personal style (which is most important!) calls for a pair that’s not too snug yet not too loose, this sleek, light-wash option should be added to cart.

Sizes Available: XS – XL
When it comes to dresses, we’re all about versatility. Can we wear it to a wedding and for a casual weekend outing? In the case of this Norma Kamali x REVOLVE design, the answer is yes.

With the winter holidays around the corner, statement accessories have been on our mind. This pair of hoops will take your outfit to the next level — without being too distracting — whether you’re rocking jeans or a fancy LBD.

Sizes Available: 5 – 10
When Dr. Martens are on sale, we know to take full advantage. Thankfully, plenty of options from this forever-cool, celebrity-approved brand are discounted right now on Revolve, and we can already picture these bulky platforms styled with ankle socks.

If you’re constantly searching for interesting sunglasses, look no further than this geometric pair from Devon Windsor. They’re bound to earn you a ton of compliments while shielding your eyes from the harsh winter sun.

Sizes Available: XXS – XXL
We’ll never tire of sweater weather (although, ask us again when it’s snowing in April) and this cute half-zip is bound to become a staple in our warm winter wardrobe.

Sizes Available: XXS – 3X
Sometimes, when sales roll around, we forget to think practically. For instance, our wardrobe could always use a good wedding guest dress, and this cutout design is just sexy enough without being too revealing.

Sizes Available: XS – XL
The gym, the couch, a relaxed dinner date, the office — try finding a place where we wouldn’t rock this Nike sweater (you won’t).

Sizes Available: XXS – XL
When it comes to Black Friday sales, bring on the basics. We know we won’t regret buying this non-see-though, Free People button down, which will probably remain in our rotation for years to come.

Sizes Available: 35 – 41
Sandals? In the winter? With discounts like these, there’s no better time to stock up. We’re taking full advantage with these half-off espadrilles, which we’ll be saving to pair with shorts and sundresses come spring.

Sizes Available: XXS – XL
Whether your family gets dressed up for the holidays or you’re already daydreaming of Feb. 14, this ruffled, red Majorelle dress will likely come in handy in the near future.

Sizes Available: XXS – XL
The best thing about jumpsuits? They can pull double duty. Alone, it’s a sleek night out look, but add a chunky turtleneck and, bam — you’re ready for the office.

Sizes Available: 24 – 30
Not jeans, not sweats, but still comfortable to pull on in a pinch and pairs well with all your T-shirts and hoodies.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday – the days that kick off the holiday shopping season for many – are quickly approaching. Some companies have vowed not to open stores on Thanksgiving and are sticking to that. Some will open early on Black Friday to allow shoppers to get a head start on their gift lists. Here is what you can expect from major retailers on Thanksgiving, Nov. 23 and Black Friday, Nov. 24.
While Walmart and other big box retailers were once known for their Thanksgiving and Black Friday crowds, Walmart has been closed on Thanksgiving since the pandemic. CEO John Furner said on X last month that their stores will continue to be closed on the holiday.
Walmart announced it was kicking off Black Friday early this year, with online shopping sales starting on Nov. 8. Stores will be open on Black Friday, Nov. 24.
In 2020, Target also decided to stay closed on Thanksgiving to limit crowds during the pandemic. In 2021, the company announced that would be permanent – its stores would be closed on the holiday to give employees a day off.
Target has announced its Black Friday sales will start early online and in-store. The company has not announced Black Friday store hours, but in 2022, most stores opened at 7 a.m.
Best Buy says none of its stores will open on Thanksgiving, but stores will set their own hours for Black Friday. Shoppers can check their local store hours on Best Buy’s store locator.
Kohl’s will close stores on Thanksgiving Day and will open Black Friday at 5 a.m., but store hours may vary by location. Like many retailers, its Black Friday deals will start early.
Dollar General stores in most states will be open on Thanksgiving Day and shoppers can visit DG.com for their local stores’ hours, a representative told CBS News via email. Their stores will also have normal hours on Black Friday.
Macy’s, which is known for going all out during the holidays – from its Thanksgiving Day Parade to its iconic holiday window displays – will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, a representative for the company told CBS News via email. Black Friday sales will start early online.
On Black Friday, stores will open with extended hours from 6 a.m. to 10:59 p.m., the representative said.
Several retailers, including Michaels, stayed open on Thanksgiving in 2022, according to TheBlackFriday.com. This year, however, Michaels says its stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, but will open at 7 a.m. on Black Friday, but shoppers should check their local stores’ extended hours.
Unlike many grocery stores, Aldi stores are closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, New Year’s Day and Easter Sunday, and also have limited hours on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Shoppers can check specific store hours online.
Whole Foods will be open on Thanksgiving but will have modified hours on this holiday and others, like Christmas. Shoppers can check local store hours online.
This is the case for several grocery stores, including regional and local chains like Stop & Shop, according to a representative for the company, and H-E-B, according to its website.
CBS News has reached out to several other retailers for information on their Thanksgiving and Black Friday hours and is awaiting response.

November is a big month for shopping, but if you get easily overwhelmed by the influx of deals at the end of the month, Dime Beauty’s Black Friday Sale is starting early. It’s live as we speak and will return for the major shopping holiday, too. If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, it formulates clean, luxury beauty and wellness products that don’t have eye-popping price tags.
Now Dime Beauty is relatively new to the beauty scene, as husband and wife duo Ryan and Baylee Relf opened shop in 2018. However, that doesn’t mean its products haven’t already amassed a devoted fanbase. Several product offerings have thousands of shopper reviews and impressive average ratings under their belt. We’re going to call out some of these formulas later on, but let’s briefly go back to Dime Beauty’s Black Friday Sale since it won’t last forever.
With discount code BLACKFRIDAY, score 30 percent off sitewide from November 2 through November 5, and make sure you come back to the brand’s site for even more Black Friday and Cyber Monday savings from November 23 through November 26. It can sometimes be a struggle to find brands that host one Black Friday sale, let alone two!
Get yourself familiar with Dime Beauty by checking out our top picks below. They include everything from a “liquid gold” anti-aging serum to a tinted sunscreen that leaves behind “the prettiest glow.” Plus, nothing on this list costs more than $31, which is a true Black Friday godsend.

Along with SPF 30 sun protection, this best-seller promises a sheer tint and a beautiful glow (hats off to zinc oxide, squalane, and beetroot). What more can you ask for in a daily sunscreen?
One five-star reviewer wrote, “I’ve tried numerous tinted sunscreens in the past, and they all felt very heavy or left a very orange tint on my skin. This one is so light, blends with my skin tone perfectly, and gives me the prettiest glow! I’ll recommend this product to all my friends.”

The TBT Serum might be just what your skincare routine is missing. Why? Because it’s a hydrating leave-on exfoliant that works wonders on your skin while you sleep. Mandelic acid, niacinamide, and resveratrol allow this formula to soften fine lines and wrinkles, fade dark spots, and firm and brighten skin.
One shopper raved, “No joke, this stuff is liquid gold for my sensitive skin! It helps keep it clear and healthy looking! LOVE this stuff!”

Have you ever looked in the mirror after just waking up and thought “Wow, I look exhausted?” Well, Dime Beauty has your remedy: The Luminosity Eye Serm. It tackles dark circles and under-eye bags thanks to goji berry, grape skin extract, cucumber extract, and everyone’s favorite buzzy ingredient, peptides.
“I’ve been using the eye serum for a couple of weeks and am thrilled to see a noticeable difference already. My under eye area is very transparent and I’ve had very dark circles for as long as I can remember. I’ve used multiple products in an attempt to improve my under eye area but nothing quite cut it,” explained one user. “Since applying the eye serum twice daily along with the Hyaluronic Acid, the skin around my eyes look better hydrated and the tone has improved. A little goes a long way so I am confident this product will last awhile. I’ll definitely be continuing to use this product and am hoping it continues to work its magic!”

The colder months are upon us, which, for some of us unlucky ones, bring forth dry, flaky skin. Don’t let these seasonal skin woes trouble your complexion. Instead, try Dime Beauty’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum to lock in moisture.
“This is my #1 product and holy grail. Every fall/winter my skin gets SO dry, uncomfortable, and flaky because of the dry air,” wrote one happy shopper. “This not only keeps my skin perfectly hydrated, but has even improved the look of my skin overall in tone and texture. And I love that there’s no unnecessary fillers!”

Winter is the time of year when everyone’s looking for ways to keep their skin appearing dewy rather than dull. Dime Beauty’s suggestion is the Dewy Day Cream. The formula contains rosehip seed oil, snow mushroom, and ceramide 3 to help hydrate and strengthen the skin’s natural barrier.
One reviewer wrote, “My skin loves this moisturizer. My skin tends to be dry and just drinks this up! It’s a nice base for my foundation.”

Take a deep breath—Zara’s Black Friday 2023 sale is nearly here, and oh boy, is it going to be a hell of a time. I mean, even the fashion retailer’s regular, non-Black Friday sales often get intense, with discounted items legit disappearing from your online shopping cart if you’re not quick enough to hit the checkout button. To keep this from happening on the biggest shopping holiday of the year, we’re crafting a game plan so that we can get in on the sales, and get out with the savings, as quickly as possible.
If you haven’t been keeping up with what’s new at Zara lately (ugh, fake fan), then believe us when we say that they have been dropping some hot-ass styles. We’re talking hot-off-the-runway trends for 2023 that are about to rule, faux leather finds you’ll be wearing throughout the rest of fall and winter, drool-worthy winter boots, and all the neutrals your heart could ever desire.
Zara is the go-to place for chic styles on a dime. And we’re not the only ones who know it—just have a look at Zara’s best sellers list. There are ways to rock outerwear trends, pops of red and some stunning heels for a night out.
Usually, Zara celebrates Black Friday with a site-wide 30 percent-off discount (!!) Think of the possibilities. You can finally snag that one item (or 10) you’ve been eyeing ever since their Fall/Winter 2023 Collection dropped. You could also spoil the people on your holiday shopping list—and not break the bank over it.
Zara has not officially released this year’s Black Friday deals but as a repeat customer, I can speculate.
True Zara fans know you’re able to get early access to the Zara Black Friday sale a full hour earlier at 6 p.m. EST by shopping through the Zara app.
Below, check out all of the blazers, jeans, dresses, purses, and shoes that we’re definitely buying during Zara’s Black Friday 2023 sale. May the odds be ever in your favor.

This jacket will be easy to layer over your winter sweaters and will always look super chic.

If you don’t already have a pair of knee-high boots in your closet, this is your opportunity to get this comfortable leather pair.

You’re going to need a pair of fun shoes to wear to your holiday party. This is that pair.

Silver accessories are big for 2024. Get ahead of the trend with this silver beaded shoulder bag.

This neutral puffer jacket would look great over all of your athleisure sets whether you’re going to the gym or out for a coffee.

A good pair of slacks is the key to nailing an effortlessly put-together look.

You can go ahead and check finding a New Year’s Eve outfit off of your to do list.

Deciem is standing out from the pack this holiday season, just like the company has done the past four years to great success. The parent company for The Ordinary’s Black Friday 2023 sale is an anti-Black Friday blowout, a boycott of the day when we often spend too much and buy things we don’t need because we’re moving too fast.
It’s all about “Slowvember” for Deciem. That means you won’t be able to shop on November 27. The website and stores will be closed. But don’t worry — you can still pick up the brand’s affordable skincare at a discount throughout the entire month of November.
“At Deciem, we are working towards minimizing the impact our products have on the earth, including looking at our packaging, water and energy use across our offices and supply chain globally,” Jackie Kankam, Director of Sustainability and Social Impact at Deciem, previously said in a statement. “Whilst we have started our journey, we are still not a sustainable company. Initiatives such as our Slowvember campaign encourage everyone to do better for a lasting planet.”
You have the whole month to shop so you can decide what to grab on your own time. This way, we’ll only pick up what we really need and keep excess products from ending up in landfills. And when we say sale, we mean sale. Everything from Deciem is 23 percent off. That includes The Ordinary and Niod (science-focused skincare at a higher price point).
Want to save even more money? The Ordinary created limited-edition, only-only product collections for unique skin types, such as The Smooth Skin Collection to target uneven skin texture. It comes with Glucoside Foaming Cleanser, Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, and Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan, at an additional 5 percent off if you buy the whole set together.
As if that wasn’t enough, on November 10, you’ll be able to shop bigger sizes of two best-sellers: a 240mL Squalane Cleanser and 100mL Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Solution.
Feeling overwhelmed? Get started by shopping some of our favorites, below.

Get non-greasy hydration with 11 amino acids and hyaluronic acid.

TikTokers are getting incredible results from this volumizing lash and brow serum. It’s so affordable, it’s worth trying out for yourself.

Fans of this alcohol-free cleanser swear by the way it cleans the skin without stripping it. It contains no plant oils, detergents, or water but instead features isolated sugar and avocado esters to remove dirt, oil and, makeup.

This super-popular serum (previously “Buffet”) targets multiply signs of aging with a peptide complex.

Niacinamide (vitamin B3) works to reduce congestion and breakouts, while zinc helps balance sebum.

CAIS3 and CAIL1% both have a 50 percent savings during Slowvember! It’s a way to try Niod’s anti-aging copper peptide at a whopping half off.

Their outlet section already has some pretty pieces on sale (like the below silk scarf and purse), but if you can wait for November the 24th you should. More will be added we guarantee it.
Selfridges don’t tend to participate in Black Friday or Cyber Monday. They do, however, have a seasonal sale so shoppers can enjoy discounts off selected brands and products in-store and online. LOADS of great shoes, hats, jackets and trousers are included, and below are just some of our faves.
If you can’t find any Black Friday designer deals, save on full-priced pieces with these Selfridges discount codes.
Early Black Friday designer deals: MATCHES Black Friday
Searching for Black Friday Chloe deals? Or Black Friday tennis bracelets that are a fraction of their usual price? Look no further than MATCHES. There’s already a sale going, in case you can’t wait a few weeks, but there’s sure to be bigger and better deals all throughout the Cyber sales this year. Report back here for updates.
Early Black Friday designer deals: Mytheresa Black Friday
If you’ve been searching for Black Friday Jimmy Choo deals, then Mytheresa has got your back. And your feet. Alongside these Balmain sunglasses (which we’ve already added to cart in hopes of some winter sunshine) there are several pairs of Jimmy Choo heels on sale. Plus other discounts on thousands of other brands. Spoiled!
We’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear the news about their Black Friday sales, too.
Early Black Friday designer deals: Coach Black Friday
Over at Coach’s direct website last Black Friday, you could get 25% off with the code CYBER (including some shades of the iconic Pillow Tabby, FYI). You could also find 20% off women’s Coach bags and purses/wallets over at John Lewis’ Cyber Monday sales. So we’re hoping for the same in 2023.
If you can’t find any Black Friday designer deals, save on full-priced pieces with these Coach discount codes.
Traditionally celebrated in America, Black Friday is the name given to the day following Thanksgiving in which many retailers offer big discounts and better sale prices compared to other offers throughout the year. It’s become quite the event on this side of the pond, too, and for 2023, more brands getting involved and offering their best Black Friday UK offers yet. Cyber Monday is the Monday that follows Cyber Weekend (i.e. the Saturday and Sunday directly after Black Friday) and gives shoppers one final chance to save. The whole thing is arguably the biggest shopping event of the year.
This year, Black Friday is on the 24th November with Cyber Monday falling on the 27th. See the best Black Friday fashion deals and clothing deals (where you’ll find things like loungewear, hoodies, midi dresses and sweatshirts from brands like AllSaints, UGG, Mango and Nike), jewellery deals, beauty deals, homeware deals from high-end and high-street brands over on our best Black Friday deals hub page. It covers everything from new arrivals/new in pieces that are usually full price, to bestseller selected items.
Unfortunately, if it’s Dior or Louis Vuitton you’re after, you’re out of luck. Exclusively stocked on the brand’s own websites, they don’t participate in Black Friday or Cyber Monday. We’d recommend looking on resale sites like Vestiaire and The Handbag Clinic for vintage and second-hand bags that might be more affordable, or keep saving up your hard-earned ££ until you can afford the saddle bag or Neverfull of your dreams!
After more Cyber Monday content? Head this way for the ASOS Black Friday sale, Glossier Black Friday sale, over here for the Charlotte Tilbury Black Friday sale and in this direction for Urban Decay Black Friday details. Unsure about that gift you got over Christmas? You’d better make up your mind fast. Holiday returns are becoming more challenging this year, as many retailers pull back after years of encouraging holiday spending.
“They’re shrinking the returns window, and they’re increasingly making you pay to ship it back,” Charisse Jones, national business correspondent at USA Today, told CBS Mornings.
Here’s what’s changing, and what you can do if you need to exchange or return a Christmas dud.
If you think you might want to return something, move fast. Previously generous return windows are shrinking. About 60% of retailers are changing their return policies this year, goTRG, a return management provider, told CBS MoneyWatch previously. Often that means shortening the “insanely long” return window that became commonplace during the pandemic, company CEO Sender Shamiss said.
That means rather than sticking a so-so gift in a closet for weeks or months, decide immediately to keep it or toss it.
“Don’t sit on that gift,” counseled Jones. “If you’re not sure you want it, look at that returns policy, because you might miss that window to get an exchange or refund.”
For instance, Amazon allows most items bought from October 11 through December 25 to be returned through the end of January — shrinking the window for returns from the previous year.
Other retailers are moving to a shorter timeframe to return items. A 30-day window is now typical, CNBC reported.
Many retailers are also charging customers for returns that used to be free.
Retailers including Abercrombie & Fitch, Anthropologie, DSW, TJMaxx, Old Navy, J Crew, JC Penney and Zara charge a restocking fee for at least some items. Most fees are between $4 and $8, although some are higher.
While the fee covers some costs associated with returns, experts say the real way they save retailers money is by discouraging returns. “They’re really there to deter the consumer from returning,” Spencer Kieboom, CEO of return management company Pollen Returns, told CNBC recently.
Other retailers won’t charge an explicit fee but will ask the shopper to mail back the item — at their own expense.
That’s because returns aren’t cheap for retailers who have to process them.
On average, a returned item costs the retailer $15 to restock, Jones said. The store has to put the item back into salable condition, “get the deodorant mark off the shirt, the scuff mark off the shoe, put it back on the sales floor,” she said. A large fraction of returned items will need to be heavily discounted because, by the time it’s been sent back and put on the floor, it’s out of season or out of style, she noted.
And a large fraction of returned items can’t be resold at all and will need to be offloaded to discount stores or liquidators.
Last year, returns cost sellers $761 billion in lost sales, according to the National Retail Federation.
Rather than mailing your unwanted gift, go to the retail store when you can. In many cases, that will save you from paying the restocking fee sellers charge for mail returns.
It can also mean you get your money back more quickly, by processing the return in-store, rather than sending it to a faraway processing center.
Research suggests that in-store returns may be slightly better for the planet, too. Online returns result in 14% more waste than the in-store kind, according to data from return platform Optoro.

The 65-inch LG OLED TV from the C1 series is discounted a whopping $650 during Walmart’s sale.
Unlike LED and QLED TVs, OLED TVs don’t have a backlight layer. Instead, each pixel is its own teeny-tiny LED light that can independently adjust luminosity and even turn off completely. Because each pixel functions independently, the TV offers elite image quality — and the darkest shadows. OLED televisions also tend to be ultra thin. This particular LG set measures just 1.8 inches thick. It features 4K upscaling, plus built-in Google Assistant and Alexa.
