    Maa Vande, an upcoming multilingual film based on the life of PM Narendra Modi, was officially announced to coincide with his birthday on September 17. Starring Unni Mukundan, the film is directed by Kranthi Kumar Ch and produced by Veer Reddy under Silver Cast Creations. The biographical drama is presently in pre-production.

    While Unni Mukundan is reprising Narendra Modi, we have learnt that Raveena Tandon has been finalized to play Modi’s mother late Heeraben. Apparently, when the actress was approached to play the part, she was so moved by the principles of Heeraben. The strength, depth and the arc of the layered character resonated with Raveena. The actress reportedly green lit the character 45 minutes into the narration. Heeraben’s life has been committed to values, and she has been like a teacher to Modi. On several occasions earlier, Modi spoke highly of her. Heeraben’s early struggle – losing her mother early in her childhood – how she held the family together with calm and fortitude, and her strong principles which stood the test of time have inspired Raveena to take on the challenging character.

    Heeraben was a source of inspiration and strength for Modi. The principles by which she raised him shaped his personality. Far beyond her story deprivation, is the glorious story of a mother. “Maa Vande is a film that predominantly focuses on mother-son relationship. The film majorly chronicles the sacrifices, resilience and the contributions she made to better his life. And Raveena Tandon was fascinated at this element and wanted to be part of the story,” informs a source from the unit. The actress would soon commence preparation for her role. She will undergo a complete makeover for the character. The film is being mounted on a massive scale with cutting-edge VFX technology

  • From Madonna to Stevie Nicks: Please Make These Artists’ Music Biopic Next

    One surefire way to grab an audience’s attention is to cast a famous actor in a music biopic about an equally famous artist. Think Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan, Austin Butler as Elvis Presley, Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, and Rami Malek’s Oscar-winning turn as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. “The success of Bohemian Rhapsody raised eyebrows about what could happen when you’re successful with a biographical film,” Larry Mestel, CEO of Primary Wave Music, a leading music publisher and talent management company told Vanity Fair last year of the music biopic boom in recent years. “It’s been a big explosion. For many years, artists didn’t want to make films that depicted their life story because they were afraid of how it would come out. There’s a much greater openness now that there’s been a bunch of these films that have done very well—their success, but also how the stories have been told and the quality being as vivid as it has been.”

    Further proof of this industry-wide trend: last week’s report from Bloomberg, citing people close to the matter, that Warner Music Group (WMG) is “close to an agreement” with Netflix to create movies and documentaries based on the company’s artists and songs. “Our company has a tremendous catalog: Prince, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac,” WMG CEO Robert Kyncl said at the Bloomberg Screentime conference on Wednesday, October 8, without confirming a specific deal or explicitly naming the streamer. “It just goes on and on and on. The stories we have are incredible, and they haven’t really been told. We’re like Marvel [Comics] for music.”

    Multiple movies about Warner Music artists have already been made (see Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash in 2005’s Walk the Line) or are already in the works—including Selena Gomez as Linda Ronstadt, Leonardo DiCaprio as Frank Sinatra, and Jennifer Lawrence as Ava Gardner. And John Lennon is covered by Harris Dickinson, who plays one-fourth of the Beatles for Sam Mendes’s upcoming four-part film project. But there are dozens of other musicians who’ve earned the biopic treatment.

  • Paris Jackson Has Harsh Words For ‘Michael’ Biopic: “Not My Monkeys, Not My Circus”

    The highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic Michael won’t hit theaters for awhile, but it’s already at the center of controversy. Paris Jackson, the 27-year-old daughter of the late King of Pop, took to her Instagram to slam the upcoming biopic from director Antoine Fuqua and writer John Logan, calling it “dishonest” and saying she has “0% involvement” in the film.

    Jackson’s comments came two days after statements made by Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo, who plays Joe Jackson, the family patriarch, in the film. On Sunday, while leading the amfAR benefit gala for AIDS research during the Venice Film Festival, Domingo told People that Paris and her younger brother Prince Jackson were “very supportive of the film.” Paris Jackson, whom Domingo told People has been “lovely” to him, also performed at the amfAR event. “I’m excited to be here at amfAR tonight with Paris,” he added. “It feels like that’s a nice way for us to be together.”

    The feeling was apparently not mutual. On Tuesday, Paris Jackson responded directly to Domingo’s comments on Instagram, distancing herself from the film. “[Colman], don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol. That is so weird,” she wrote.

    The singer and actress explained that she had seen an early draft of the film and pointed out the parts that she felt were unconvincing: “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest [and] didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life,” she wrote. “Not my monkeys, not my circus. God bless and godspeed.”

    In follow-up videos posted to her Instagram story, Jackson expanded on her involvement with the film, saying that after she was explicitly informed her suggestions would not be considered, “I wasn’t involved at all, aside from giving feedback on the first draft and then getting the feedback that [production] was not actually going to address your notes at all. So I just butted out and left it alone because it’s not my project.”

    She continued, saying that the filmmakers are “going to make whatever they’re going to make” and that the project would most likely make her father’s diehard fans happy. “A big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it,” Jackson added. “A big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it.”

    Michael has been in development since 2019 in collaboration with the Jackson family. It stars Domingo, Miles Teller, Nia Long, Kat Graham, and, in his big screen debut, Michael Jackson’s grandson Jafar Jackson as the pop icon. The film has already faced several controversies. According to Puck, the production has reportedly been mired in rewrites and reshoots. The entire third act of the film reportedly had to be rewritten and re-shot, allegedly because the first version had overlooked terms of a settlement between the Jackson estate and a child-abuse accuser.

    A source close to the production, however, flatly denied rumors that the production was a mess. “The Michael Jackson biopic is not in total chaos,” they told People in January. “The inflammatory headlines about the moving halting are simply not true. The film is moving forward, and reshoots are happening in March.”

    Michael is currently set for release on April 24, 2026 from Lionsgate.

    Sydney Sweeney is ready to step into the ring.

    The actress shared a couple of behind-the-scenes images (below) from her time on the set of the Christy Martin biopic in which she’s set to star.

    “Well the cats out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here’s a little bts from my film im working on right now,” she wrote in an Instagram caption of two photos of her in sweats with a brown, curly hairdo. “Over the past few months, I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman — a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring.”

    She concluded, “Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. More to come soon.”

    David Michôd will direct the film, which is currently untitled and follows the true story of Martin’s rise to being one of the most well-known female boxers in 1990s America. Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Ethan Embry and Katy O’Brian also star in the biopic.

    Martin began her career in 1989 after meeting manager and eventual husband Jim Martin. She continued to compete until 2012 and is the only female boxer thus far to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

    But the athlete’s life has not been without its fair share of struggles. In 2010, her husband stabbed her repeatedly and shot her in the chest, leaving her for dead. She managed to find the strength to run out of the house and flag down a passerby, who took her to the hospital. Two years later, Jim Martin was sentenced to 25 years in prison for attempted second-degree murder with a firearm.

    The boxer told CBS News that his abuse of her took many forms, including sexual and emotional. She explained he got her addicted to cocaine and gave her a constant supply. He also blackmailed her and threatened to reveal her sexual orientation.

    “The whole sexuality part is really difficult because I was so intertwined,” she told the network. “First of all, I trusted Jim Martin, and he was 25 years older than me. He was my coach. I felt like this was someone that I could open up and bear my soul to, and tell him all about my sexuality struggles, my struggles with my family, just life struggles, and all of that was used against me.”

    The richest man in the world is getting the silver screen treatment. Variety has confirmed that a biopic about multibillionaire businessman Elon Musk is in the works at A24, with Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky attached to direct. 

    The biopic’s screenplay will be based on Elon Musk, the biography by former Time editor Walter Isaacson. Isaacson is no stranger to biographies of powerful men, having written detailed accounts on the life and times of Benjamin Franklin, Leonardo Da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Henry Kissinger, and Steve Jobs. That last book was adapted into the 2015 Universal film Steve Jobs, starring Michael Fassbender, who earned an Oscar nomination for playing the late Apple cofounder. Per Variety, there was an intense bidding war to option Isaacson’s novel, with indie film studio A24, which produced last year’s best-picture winner, Everything Everywhere All at Once, coming out on top.

    Aronofsky most recently directed 2022’s The Whale for A24, which earned star Brendan Fraser an Oscar for best actor earlier this year. Prior to The Whale, Aronofsky helmed psychological and surreal character studies including Mother! (2017), starring Jennifer Lawrence, Requiem for a Dream (2000) starring Ellen Burstyn, and Black Swan (2010) starring Natalie Portman, who won the Oscar for best actress. 

    Born in South Africa, Musk became a major player on the world stage when he cofounded a financial company that would eventually merge with Paypal. In 2002, he founded SpaceX, a spacecraft-manufacturing company. Musk went on to become an early investor in Tesla, the electric-car company, eventually becoming its chairman, product architect, and CEO. In 2018, he stepped down as chairman of Tesla after he was sued by the SEC for falsely tweeting that he had secured funding for a private takeover of Tesla. In September of 2021, Musk surpassed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos as the richest person in the world, with a net worth of over $200 billion. 

    In 2022, he bought the social media platform formerly known as Twitter for $44 billion, rebranded it as X, and, arguably, ruined the platform. Since coming under Musk’s control, X has lost approximately 55% of its US ad revenue year-over-year each month, according to Reuters. As of last month was valued at $19 billion—less than half of what he paid for it. Still, Musk’s current net worth is estimated to be worth around $200 billion.

    Financials aside, Musk’s personal life provides more than enough material for a movie. In April of 2022, Vanity Fair revealed that the 52-year-old had a second child, named Exa Dark Sideræl, with his then partner, musician Grimes, that was heretofore unknown to the public. (They’ve since had a third child together.) Musk is the father of 11 children by three different women, most recently twins Strider and Azure with 37-year-old Shivon Zilis, an AI specialist and executive at Neuralink, a company that Musk founded. He’s also quite active on X and particularly fond of posting jokes and memes, many of which are believed to be taken from other accounts. Time will tell if any of Musk’s attempts at comedy will make it into his biopic.
