  • Big Sean Says He’s ‘Never Met’ Rumored Rebound Amid Jhené Aiko Split Speculation: ‘I Don’t Know Why The F**k She Was So Close To Me’

The rumor mill is swirling with claims that Big Sean and Jhené Aiko have called it quits.

    Source: Variety / Getty

The longtime couple have been collaborating on music and dating on and off since the release of their joint album, Twenty88, in 2016. In November 2022, the musicians announced the arrival of their son, Noah Hasani, on Instagram.

In the years since, the couple have been quiet about their relationship, and in recent days, rumors have started swirling that the pair called it quits. While it’s not exactly clear where the speculation started, Sean only further fueled the chatter when he was seen in a video next to a rumored new fling.

Footage of the rapper and the mystery woman went viral, paired with claims Sean left Jhené for this new girl. Things got so blown out of proportion that Detroit felt the need to set the record straight–though he didn’t speak on his relationship status.

The headline on an Instagram post shared by No Skips Tea read: “Damn! Big Sean Spotted With Alleged New Girlfriend After Wasting Jhene Aiko’s Time for 10 Years.” The post contained clip of footage from a livestream hosted by YouTuber N3on, showing Sean enter a room filled with people, including a woman who was standing closely by him.

The rapper didn’t interact with the woman, but fans still ran with the idea that he had a new girlfriend, which lead to Sean leaving two comments under the post to clear things up.

“Yeah unfortunately i never met this person in my life lol,” he wrote in his first comment.

The second read, “This girl was standing next to @hitboy who is cut out the video. I dont know why the f**k she was so close to me though. I didnt see it at all til i saw this video and can understand the frustrations. Smh 😂. But i dont even know this person at all.”

While Sean was adamant about shutting down any romance rumors, he didn’t comment on his status with Jhené. Having been together for so long without a ring, fans were already questioning their relationship, which Sean commented on last year.

In August 2024, Charlamange Tha God asked Sean why he hadn’t married Aiko, which is when the rapper shut down claims he and Aiko had “a secret industry marriage.”

“We’ve had our ups and downs, you know what I’m saying? And I think it’s still finding the right navigation through it all. To me, marriage symbolizes, like, the best relationship,” he said at the time. “I would like to, and I don’t like putting our personal business out there like that either, but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.”

  • Your Weekend Playlist: New Music To Listen To Friday

Your Weekend Playlist: New Music To Listen To Friday

As you read this, imagine me to be sitting somewhere on a beach in New Jersey (hold your horrified gasps) surrounded by friends and a Bose Soundlink Max speaker blaring my favorite tracks. I’m always on aux, dear reader, as I’m sure you can imagine. My Spotify playlists are highly sought after by a specific group of people (my friends).

And yes, it’s also worth mentioning that it’s a holiday weekend. For those of us in the good ole United States of America, it’s the Fourth of July during a very terrifying election year. So, in order not to think about the current state of our country, we must listen to music. And lots of it. Doctor’s orders.

So that’s where the good new comes in: each week, there’s a whole set of new songs released. Especially during the summer, because artists know you’re looking to stream. And patiently, as I wait for Harry Styles to drop new music (it’s been two years, H), I have this weekly segment where I round up the best new music released.

I comb through press releases, Spotify curated playlists, and the charts to find the next big songs that will get you and your friends dancing.

If new music sounds like something you need right now, let’s get listening!

Lana Del Rey x Quavo – “Tough”

Welcome back, rapper Lana Del Rey. After being spotted hanging out with Quavo in Atlanta and performing the song at her sold-out Fenway Park show, the friend duo are here with “Tough.” It’s highly anticipated for a reason- combining Lana’s earthy, crooning voice with Quavo’s ability to craft a hit rap song.

With two seasoned veterans, it’s hard to go wrong…and Lana Del Rey is the ultimate risk-taker when it comes to music. Expect a sonic shift, but the same voices you know and love. It’s both country and rap bundled into one song that makes perfect sense.

    Good Neighbors – “Daisies”

Good Neighbors deserves all of the hype they’ve been receiving so far. “Daisies” is the perfect dose of summertime in one song…and how perfect, as it’s about falling back in love with yourself. It feels just like that- with the synths, the vocals, the instrumental breaks envelop your senses, sending you into sunshine and a field somewhere.

After the mega-hit “Home” and follow up single, “Keep It Up,” “Daisies” proves Good Neighbors is on the right track. This new era of indie pop is just what we needed right now.

    Eminem, BabyTron, Big Sean- “Tobey”

Shady’s officially back- with new album The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe De Grace) on the horizon, he releases “Tobey” alongside Big Sean and BabyTron. It’s high energy, and even though industry giants like Eminem have been around for over a decade, “Tobey” feels fresh.

And, of course, Eminem waits to come in at the very end and close out the song with fire verse after fire verse. It’s a fun sneak peek into what comes next in the final era of Slim Shady.

Louis The Child, Laszewo, Pluko- “Slow”

Louis The Child is a name synonymous with summer hits. Just in time for your days spent lounging on the beach and hanging with your friends, this song begs for a relationship to slow down. It’s about taking things slow, and showcases the collaborators sounds perfectly.

“It flowed like water,” Louis The Child say. “It’s a song about wanting to dive straight into a relationship, about feeling all the right emotions and not wanting to hold back or take things slow.”

Felix Jaehn, Sophie Ellis-Bextor- “Ready For Your Love”

Two icons: Felix Jaehn and Sophie Ellis-Bextor (yes, of “Murder On The Dancefloor”) are here with “Ready For Your Love.” It’s entrancing- an ethereal beat mixed with Ellis-Bextor’s lilting voice that floats over the house track. It makes you want to dance, it’s perfect for the electronic house renaissance we’re having this summer.

I can hear this playing in New York City clubs for the foreseeable future…and it’ll be well-deserved. “Ready For Your Love” is an instant hint.

    KATSEYE- “Debut”

Ahead of their debut EP, SIS (Soft Is Strong), KATSEYE is here with “Debut”- a symphony of powerful vocals from this brand new girl group. KATSEYE has already proven they’ve got what it takes to be the next big thing in the industry, and “Debut” solidifies they are taking stardom in stride.

Their vocal diversity makes “Debut” an exciting listen- starting strong and building throughout its entirety. Definitely not the last time we’re going to hear from this group, but a promising beginning nonetheless.

Big Sean, Detroit Youth Choir to perform at Detroit’s NFL Draft

Organizers announced Thursday that a NFL Draft Concert Series will feature performances from homegrown acts like rapper Big Sean, the Detroit Youth Choir, the singer Bazzi, and more.

“With the Draft coming to Detroit, we knew the importance of representing the rich cultural history and music legacy of this city as part of our NFL Draft Concert Series,” said Tim Tubito, director of event presentation and content at the NFL. “With an incredible lineup of headliners who all hail from the region, we’re excited for these great artists to help us create an amazing on-site experience for our fans and prospects.”

Big Sean will perform at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, followed by the Detroit Youth Choir at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26.

A post-Draft fireworks show is is planned for Friday, April 26, which will include a tribute to Detroit music. The festival wraps up on Saturday, April 27 with a performance by Bazzi, a Lebanese-American singer who grew up in Canton and blew up on social media in 2018 with his hit “Mine.”

The concert series is sponsored by Bud Light.

“Bud Light is committed to making great football moments even easier to enjoy, and the NFL Draft is one of the most celebrated and most defining events for fans, players and teams alike,” said Todd Allen, Vice President of Marketing for Bud Light. “We couldn’t be prouder to be presenting sponsor of the NFL Draft and to bring easy enjoyment to NFL fans all weekend long in Motor City.”

  • Jhene Aiko is opening her tour in Detroit on Juneteenth

Jhene Aiko is opening her tour in Detroit on Juneteenth

R&B singer-songwriter Jhene Aiko just announced “The Magic Hour Tour,” her first headlining tour in five years, and she’s kicking it off on the right foot with an opening stop in Detroit.

The show on Wednesday, June 19 is set for Little Caesars Arena at 7 p.m.

Joining Aiko on the journey are R&B and rap queens Coi Leray, Tink, Umi, and Kiana Lede, although it’s yet to be revealed which openers will accompany her at which city or if they will all be performing throughout the entire tour.

In a series of Instagram posts announcing the tour, Aiko also revealed a snippet of a new song that fans hope to soon hear in full. Her most recent release was the single “Sun/Son,” on January 5. The soothing, heartfelt track honors the child she welcomed in late 2022 alongside Detroit-born rapper Big Sean.

Aside from a project of R&B sleep music for babies, Aiko hasn’t released a full-length album since Chilombo in 2020, so hopefully the tour and the new tracks mean a new LP is coming soon.

The six-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter was last in Detroit to perform at the Mo Pop Festival in the summer of 2022, and Detroit fans have missed her ever since. So, what better way for Aiko and Detroiters to celebrate Juneteenth than with some great music in a great city?

“The Magic Hour Tour” will span North America, with 26 stops in the U.S. and one in Toronto, ending in Columbus, Ohio on Aug. 22.

Presale tickets go on sale starting Wednesday, March 27 at 10 a.m., while tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m.

Tickets are available at 313Presents.com, LiveNation.com, and Ticketmaster.com.

  • Three generations of Detroit hip-hop featured in Eminem’s new ‘Doomsday Pt. 2’ music video

Three generations of Detroit hip-hop featured in Eminem’s new ‘Doomsday Pt. 2’ music video

    Screenshot, YouTube

    A still from Eminem’s “Doomsday Pt. 2.”

Chicago-based video production company Lyrical Lemonade released its debut compilation album All Is Yellow on Jan. 26, featuring a full track by Eminem titled “Doomsday Pt. 2.” On March 13, aka Detroit’s 313 Day, it dropped a music video for the song featuring three generations of Detroit hip-hop on-screen: Eminem, Big Sean, and BabyTron.

It’s a good gift to the city to celebrate the holiday, especially since new releases from Eminem happen far less often than they used to.

“Doomsday Pt. 2” is the only track on All Is Yellow where there is only one main vocalist. The song is a diss track aimed at Eminem’s long-time rival Benzino, including usual sharp-hitting rapid-fire lines like: “What is the opposite of Benzino? A giraffe. ‘Go at his neck,’ how the fuck is that? How can I go at somethin’ he doesn’t have? Arms so short he can’t even touch his hands.”

Ypsilanti-born rapper BabyTron is also part of the Lyrical Lemonade project, featured on the track “Equilibrium” with G. Herbo. Detroit-born rapper Big Sean is actually not on the album, other than some backup vocals, even though he was originally confirmed to be. However, Lyrical Lemonade founder and videographer Cole Bennett revealed that the collaboration will be used for something else in the future. There’s already talk of a second Lyrical Lemonade album in the works, so hopefully we get Big Sean and more Detroit artists on that one.

Alongside Big Sean and BabyTron, rappers Denzel Curry, Teezo Touchdown, JID, Swae Lee, and Cordae are all featured on the Lyrical Lemonade project, and also pop up on the screen in the newly released music video.

However, Detroit artists are at the forefront, demonstrating the impact of the city’s hip-hop music and culture spanning decades.

  • Big Sean And Jhené Aiko Serenade Their Baby Boy With ‘I Know’ Duet In Adorable TikTok

Big Sean And Jhené Aiko Serenade Their Baby Boy With ‘I Know’ Duet In Adorable TikTok

Big Sean and Jhené Aiko are sharing with their fans a glimpse into their parenting journey on TikTok.

The longtime couple posted a video of a cozy moment featuring their infant son, Noah Hasani, on Saturday.

In the clip, posted to Sean’s TikTok account, the “TWENTY88” collaborators are sitting in what appears to be Noah’s nursery, facing each other as Aiko gently bounces the nearly 3-month-old across her shoulder.

Earnestly looking into Aiko’s eyes, Sean starts lip-syncing to their 2015 hit, “I Know.”

“I know you’ve been runnin’ on empty,” he begins.

With Aiko joining in to lip-sync alongside him, he continues mouthing the hook’s lyrics, “Don’t love the same, I know you’ve been diving through pain/ I know you runnin’ so crazy, I know you runnin’ on empty/ That shit can fuck with your mente/I know this shit, don’t you tempt me, I know you.”

When Sean gets to the lyrics, “The way you move it’s like you could use a vacation,” the lyrical couple give each other an empathizing and tender gaze. The video has already racked up more than 2 million likes on TikTok.

In the popular song’s official music video, the hit-making lovebirds form a bond as they look forward to a getaway where they can relieve their stress, which is arguably applicable to their latest adventure together — welcoming their first child together in November.

While Aiko is already a mom to 13-year-old daughter Namiko Love, whom she shares with R&B singer O’Ryan, the couple’s child is Sean’s first baby.

The beloved duo announced Noah’s birth on Instagram on Nov. 8. “After 24 hours of labor, a total lunar eclipse, and while it was pouring rain… he came,” Aiko wrote in the post’s caption. “My baby Yoda, my Sani.”

Aiko and Sean ― who released their joint album “TWENTY88” together in 2016 ― started dating that same year following years of rumors.

In 2020, the two were seen flirting during a joint Instagram Live, with Sean joking that he was going to pop the big question.

“Why don’t you marry me,” Aiko asked.

“It’s in the works,” Sean replied, to which she bantered, “Whatever, I don’t need no man.”

Last February, Sean revealed a forthcoming collaborative project with Aiko during an Instagram Live with Queen Naija.

“I’m here working on a new album, a new ‘TWENTY88,’ me and Jhené,” the Detroit rapper said smiling. “Shit, we’ve been working on it for a little bit… It’s coming along good, though.”

The couple’s first “TWENTY88” project debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, selling 40,000 copies in its first week.

Quinn XCII Talks His New Album “The People’s Champ” Exclusively With Popdust

Quinn XCII is back with his fifth studio album, The People’s Champ, and it could be his best yet. With a mixture of the classic Quinn sound that seamlessly blends multiple genres together. While the beat of many of his songs may stay upbeat, his lyrics convey important messages reminding you to stay true to yourself.

    QUINN XCII | Popdust Presentswww.youtube.com

The People’s Champ is about being your own hero a lot of the time. The name, just like Quinn XCII’s album, encourages you to be kind to yourself because at the end of the day, that’s all you have. Each track is a gentle reminder to have fun, spread love, and take care of you.

The Detroit native is known for his stellar collaborations with artists spanning across many genres. The People’s Champ is no exception, where we hear Quinn’s vocals mesh with big names in the music industry like Big Sean, AJR, and Chelsea Cutler.

This isn’t the first…or even second time we have heard a collab between Cutler and Quinn. However, “Let Me Down” is relatable, and their voices work incredibly well together to make for another refreshing single from the pair.

Quinn XCII revealed that working with Cutler is more like hanging out with a friend. Since the two have been close friends forever, they find ease collaborating and the pressure is off. Having people Quinn trusts surrounding him for the creation of The People’s Champ has subsequently been a huge part of why he’s so proud of it.

With his new album out today, and a worldwide headline tour titled “The People’s Tour” coming this spring, Quinn XCII sat down with Popdust for an exclusive interview:

Entrepreneurs can now apply for the Alibaba.com Manifest Grants Program HERE, which will provide monetary funds and procurement resources to small businesses that have innovative product ideas and go-to-market strategies. In addition, one lucky winner will receive one-on-one mentorship from Daymond John.

Google‘s dedication to supporting Black communities and entrepreneurs is unmatched through various initiatives such as the Google for Startups for Black Founders Fund and so much more. During this year’s Black Entrepreneurs Day, Daymond John and Melonie Parker, Google’s Chief Diversity Officer, will host a conversation entitled #FundBlackFounders, focused on the Black startup founders who are building great companies yet are locked out of access to the funding that is critical to their success. At its core, Google is on a mission to support diverse startup communities globally — and that’s precisely what Melonie and Daymond will dive into in this impactful discussion.

As a returning partner, T-Mobile for Business and its small business content destination Magenta Edge have joined forces with Daymond John for year three to present an exclusive Magenta Edge roundtable. Featuring three savvy, successful small business owners, this year’s Magenta Edge Roundtable unpacks how Black entrepreneurs can raise the odds of running a thriving business over the long run. They discuss the value of strong connections, how to better access capital, and the role the community plays in the staying power of a business. Magenta Edge is an initiative created by T-Mobile for Business on a mission to help American small business owners navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. With a foundational focus on minority-owned small businesses, Magenta Edge has a growing library of original content, educational programming, real stories, and insights to help teach and inspire all entrepreneurs.
