    Tori Spelling has a theory about why Hilary Swank got fired from Beverly Hills, 90210!

    Remember that? Hilary got the principal role of Carly Reynolds during the eighth season in 1997. However, she did not stay on the show for long. She got written out after only 16 episodes. Damn. But why? The exact reason is unknown, but Tori has a guess!

    During a new episode of the 90210MG podcast on Friday, the 52-year-old actress reminded her co-host Jennie Garth that Hilary was “signed on as a full-time cast member” but got the boot mid-way through the season. Tori thinks it wasn’t because of the Million Dollar Baby star’s acting, though. She believes it was all because the writing didn’t propel Hilary’s character forward. Talking about the first episode of Season 8, Tori said:

    “I didn’t think the writing was great in this episode.”

    Jennie agreed, saying:

    “No, no, I didn’t, either.”

    Podcast producer Amy echoed the sentiments, saying she thought “Hilary Swank was not good” in the show for a long time. However, re-watching the episode now, she realized it wasn’t the Camp Wilder alum’s fault. Amy explained:

    “It’s not that she wasn’t good. She actually is good. It’s that they wrote her so ridiculously. Like, she comes in hot. She’s kind of awful from the start.”

    Oof…

    Although getting fired sucks, it ultimately was the best thing for her. As Amy pointed out, Hilary was able to star in Boys Don’t Cry because she was no longer on 90210. She then got the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in the film. The podcast producer said:

    “Because she gets let go from this show early, and that’s why she got Boys Don’t Cry, because she was free to audition.”

    Tori Spelling Gets Candid About Shannen Doherty’s Death & Their Surprising Final Conversation – Perez Hilton

    Tori Spelling is opening up about her final conversation with Shannen Doherty.

    It’s been over ten days now since the iconic actress sadly passed away amid her years-long battle with cancer, and her friends and co-stars are clearly still trying to wrap their minds around it. During Monday’s episode of the 90210MG podcast, which was sweetly titled Remembering Shannen Doherty, the late 53-year-old’s Beverly Hills, 90210 co-stars Tori and Jennie Garth discussed their final words with Shannen. Tori said:

    “I’ve had a lot of death in my life, and I don’t believe in regrets, but I have a lot of regrets that I didn’t have that time to have a second chance to get past stuff from the past and look at all the good things and really talk it out and have that last conversation.”

    But luckily that’s NOT the case with Shannen. The mom of five continued:

    “I feel like she and I had that, and I’m super grateful for that.”

    She didn’t give details on what exactly they talked about, but Jennie was happy to hear about Tori and Shannen’s interaction. She responded:

    “I was thinking definitely of you, Tor, and how happy you must have been to have that time with her and to have that sort of just reconnection on a deeper level as both of you matured and grown and learned so much.”

    But for Garth, she did not have the same. Jennie added:

    “I wished that I had had that opportunity because I didn’t really get to sit down and have like [a] heartfelt conversation with her recently, but I was very glad that you did.”

    That’s really too bad… And possibly why she’s reportedly not getting an invite to Shannen’s funeral!

    Spelling also added that she’s “not doing well” since the Charmed star’s passing, noting that she hasn’t really been “emotionally” ready to talk about it. However, she has felt a responsibility to do so:

    “For me, I honestly, as you know, didn’t want to do this. I just emotionally didn’t feel ready. And I feel like I know a lot of people are speaking out and giving lovely tributes to her in her memory, but I just, oh, I obviously wanted to do this for the fans, so this episode is for them, not for us.”

    Tori continued:

    “I guess it was just that belief that she fought so hard and was such a warrior. And she has shown her entire life and career you’re everything that she can get past anything. So although we know the answer is so evil and takes everyone that we love, it just I don’t know. I guess she made you believe that she was the one that would make it and she was so hopeful.”

    Tori, as well as many of her other 90210 co-stars, offered loving tributes after Shannen’s death, which you can read HERE.

    The mourning star then concluded:

    “I’ve spent my whole life living in fear, and I’ve always been a fearful person, and I didn’t feel fear at all when she passed. I just felt sad. I felt sad for the second chapter she had, and I was so excited for that chapter for her and wanted her so badly to have that.”

    So sad. Shannen was definitely taken too soon.

    Shannen Doherty Remembered by Co-Stars and Friends

    Shannen Doherty — who played a Beverly Hills High student, a Heather, and a Charmed one — died this week. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, which metastasized to her brain in 2023. Friends and co-stars poured out their grief for one of the women who defined the ’90s. Holly Marie Combs, Doherty’s co-star on Charmed and ally in the show’s long afterlife, said there was a hole in her heart. “My most ardent champion. My loyal protector. My best friend,” she wrote on Instagram. “You taught me the meaning of family. You were and will be forevermore my sister. I love you.” Sarah Michelle Gellar, one of Doherty’s closest friends, wrote “I keep reminding myself it only hurts this much because, there was so much love.”

    Her Mallrats director called Doherty “an American icon” and claimed she broke the internet before the internet. Her on-screen brother, Jason Priestley, wrote: “She was a force of nature and I will miss her.” Many of these same co-stars tributed Luke Perry when he died suddenly of a stroke in 2019. Rose McGowan, who replaced Doherty on Charmed, wrote she had “the heart of a lion. Passion for craft is often mislabeled as trouble. Shannen was passion.”

    A tribute from Fox Entertainment said the actor elevated the network with her craft. “All of us at Fox mourn the loss of our friend Shannen Doherty and grieve alongside her family, friends, and fans,” Fox said in a statement. “We are grateful for Shannen’s undeniable talent and light, especially through her unforgettable, groundbreaking role in Beverly Hills, 90210, the iconic series that cemented her place among television royalty and helped define the bold, provocative identity Fox became known for.
