Join the EVAL program and gain national recognition for EV leadership. Attend a webinar to learn how.

The Electric Vehicle Adoption Leadership (EVAL) program, in collaboration with Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC), is excited to present a series of webinars spotlighting national leaders who have successfully implemented workplace charging solutions. The series aims to inform and engage a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, businesses, universities, and the general public, about the latest advancements and best practices in EV workplace charging.

Presenting organizations include Clean Communities of Central New York, Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant, EVNoire, Revision Energy, Plug In America, Hi-Tech Electric Company, Urban Efficiency Group, Tacoma Power, Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Atom Power, and EZ Ride.

The series kicks off on Thursday, August 22, and will continue every Thursday through September 19. Each webinar lasts one hour, starting at 3:00 p.m. ET, and will be hosted on the Zoom platform. These webinars are free to attend, but registration is required at Best Workplaces for Commuters – Events

One of the webinar speakers, Barry Carr with Clean Communities of Central New York, explained, “We enjoy access to Workplace Charging at the Syracuse Center of Excellence and believe that expanding opportunities at commercial buildings will speed the switch to clean transportation.” The Clean Communities of Central New York (Syracuse) works with vehicle fleets, fuel providers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to identify community-driven choices that save energy and promote the use of alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies in transportation.

Forth, together with their partnering agencies, leads the EVAL program. “We’re excited to see employers across the U.S. leading the charge in sustainable transportation by implementing workplace charging programs. These initiatives, which include incentives for EV use, micro-mobility options, public transit, and carpooling, are critical in reducing our carbon footprint,” said Aleksandra Evert, Program Manager at Forth.

“Providing electric vehicle charging stations at workplaces demonstrates a genuine commitment to meeting employees’ needs, particularly for those who drive electric vehicles,” said Julie Bond, Program Manager for Best Workplaces for Commuters. “As more people switch to electric vehicles for their commute, there is likely to be a greater awareness of other sustainable transportation options.”

Why EV Charging at Workplaces? It is estimated there will be 26 million EVs in the United States by 2030 that will need 1.3 million workplace chargers for employees without access to charging at home or public charging infrastructure. Workplaces are ideal sites and critical solutions to building reliable charging infrastructure that accelerates transportation electrification to support the nation’s net-zero emission goals.

Announcing the 2023 Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) annual list of U.S.-based employers, universities and sites that meet the program’s National Standard of Excellence by providing exceptional commuter benefits and collectively changing how more than two million employees and students commute to and from work each day.

2023 Best Workplaces for Commuters list: www.bestworkplaces.org

More than 600 workplaces have been named to the 2023 Best Workplaces for Commuters list, a record-breaking year for the organization. The list includes Best Workplaces, Best Universities and Best Sites for Commuters across the U.S. continuing to provide high-level commuter benefits.

“This year we are excited to announce a record-breaking list of workplaces,” said Julie Bond, Program Manager for Best Workplaces for Commuters. “Employers that make this list demonstrate an exemplary commitment to their employees, offering commute programs, like telework, discounted transit passes, and bicycle-friendly amenities, that empower their employees to be successful at work while also supporting their individual needs.”

This year, BWC announced the new 2023 “Commuter Benefits Guide for Employer Fringe Benefits.” Commuter benefits encourage American workers to get to and from work in ways that reduce air pollution, improve public health, increase worker productivity, and reduce expenses and taxes for employers and employees. BWC also recognizes telework as a key benefit of a successful employee commuter benefits package, helping increase program adoption nationally.

To receive the designation, employers submit an application to demonstrate they promote transportation choices for employees that meet the BWC National Standard of Excellence. BWC members receive national recognition and access to an array of support services to strengthen their commuter programs, including webinars, benchmark surveys, guidebooks, and peer-to-peer networking opportunities. BWC also provides tools to help workplaces assess how commuter programs benefit their organizations, their employees, and the environment.
