    “We’re thrilled to unveil our new bridal drop where each gown embodies the essence of individuality and romance,” chief merchandising officer of apparel at Anthropologie, Holly Thrasher, told Refinery29. “Our latest assortment offers three unique design sensibilities that highlight new bridal trends and exclusive styles.”

    The three bridal silhouettes and aesthetics are divided by classic ball gowns, modern styles, and trending drop-waist dresses — perfect to serve every bride and every aisle. The exclusive designs come from brands like Ouma, Mirror Palais, Sebastian Luke, and Costarellos, all ranging between $1,150 and $4,370.     “Our first collection pushed an aspect of informality, but this season, we’re offering a broader depth in our capsule, which allows us to increase the amount of formal dressing — with a fashion-forward twist,” Brigitte Chartrand, vice president of womenswear buying for Ssense, said in a press release. 

    The Ssense bridal collection features over 100 styles, spanning everything from bridal gowns and opera gloves to flower girl dresses and white cocktail bags. The capsule includes pieces from 17 emerging and established fashion designers like Simone Rocha, Vivienne Westwood, Sandy Liang, and Molly Goddard. Highlights include the return of Anna Sui’s 1994 babydoll silhouette, a fully upcycled gown and matching gloves from Conner Ives, and Ssense newcomers like Aaron Esh and Wed Studio.

    The first peek at the collection makes good on those intentions. From looks that are perfect for a wedding ceremony and reception, as well as options that are bachelorette party and wedding night-ready, Hanifa Bridal’s debut is the stuff of bridal fantasy. Mvuemba and her team got bold with the runway looks — marked by an abundance of feathers, skintone-matching illusion mesh, barely-there cheeky lingerie — but also stayed true to some of the more classic shapes, zhuzhing up what some might consider more traditional bridal styles with sexy cuts and intricate beading. The models, hand-picked to represent a wide range of figures, were perfect representations of the endless breadth of customers that Mvuemba aims to reach with Hanifa Bridal. Like blushing brides on their special day (iconic Black-owned makeup house Fashion Fair was responsible for their makeup, and Mielle Organics products were utilized for their uniform slicked-back buns), they floated serenely down the runway, each decked out in a couture look that fit them to a tee, and the tent was filled with nonstop appreciative murmurs and impressed oohs and ahhs. (The closing piece, a gorgeous ivory asymmetrical tiered ball gown fit for a princess, prompted a collective gasp of delight so ridiculously dramatic that we could only laugh at ourselves after.) We were stunned. Mvuemba and Hanifa had done it again.
