Ben Affleck Says Playing Batman in ‘Justice League’ “Broke My Heart”

    [ad_1]

Ben Affleck, historically a fun person to witness being a celebrity, got candid about his life and career, including his “worst experience” from the latter, in a new cover story for The Hollywood Reporter.

Throughout the interview, Affleck colorfully sounded off on various topics, including his “world-class Boston finesse” for parallel parking, his “red velvet rope celebrity Wordle group,” why he thinks of golf as the sports version of meth, and how he actually “had a good time at the Grammys,” thank you very much.

But he became particularly impassioned when speaking about taking on the role of Batman, saying that participating in DC Comics films “became somewhat repetitive to me and less interesting” to him across the several movies in which he appeared. “And by the way, I like a lot of the stuff we did, especially the first one [Batman v Superman],” Affleck said.

Perhaps not surprisingly, it was 2017’s infamously difficult Justice League that soured him on the experience. “You could teach a seminar on all the reasons why this is how not to do it. Ranging from production to bad decisions to horrible personal tragedy, and just ending with the most monstrous taste in my mouth,” Affleck said of the production, which brought in Joss Whedon to direct after original director Zack Snyder’s daughter died by suicide in 2017.

The Oscar winner, who has previously shared his misgivings about playing the Caped Crusader, subsequently bowed out of directing his own Batman film. “[Justice League] made me go, ‘I’m out. I never want to do any of this again. I’m not suited,’” Affleck said. “That was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a business which is full of some shitty experiences. It broke my heart.”

The whole thing was so punishing, Affleck explained, that he “started to drink too much,” adding, “I was back at the hotel in London, it was either that or jump out the window. And I just thought, This isn’t the life I want. My kids aren’t here. I’m miserable. You want to go to work and find something interesting to hang on to, rather than just wearing a rubber suit, and most of it you’re just standing against the computer screen going, ‘If this nuclear waste gets loose, we’ll…’ That’s fine. I don’t condescend to that or put it down, but I got to a point where I found it creatively not satisfying.”

Affleck did, however, suit up once more to play the character in The Flash, which stars Ezra Miller and hits theaters in June. “I did finally figure out how to play that character [Batman], and I nailed it in The Flash,” Affleck said. “For the five minutes I’m there, it’s really great.” But don’t bet on him to save the day on any future projects. “I would not direct something for the [James] Gunn DC. Absolutely not,” the actor said when asked by The Hollywood Reporter. “I have nothing against James Gunn. Nice guy, sure he’s going to do a great job. I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that.”

  • Dunkin’ releases Super Bowl ad outtakes starring Ben Affleck

Dunkin’ releases Super Bowl ad outtakes starring Ben Affleck

    [ad_1]

Dunkin’ has released outtakes from its hidden camera-style Super Bowl ad starring Ben Affleck. The Bostonian helped the chain strike gold with their first ever Super Bowl ad, and now, coffee and donut enthusiasts everywhere can see what didn’t make the cut.

“It’s Boston, after all, so we had some rather coarse and agitated people who were willing to voice their displeasure in a colorful way, and I’m still lobbying to include the most interesting of those in some of the edgiest social spots,” Affleck told the Wall Street Journal.

It looks like his wish came true.

The original ad, which was directed by the star’s production company, featured Affleck working the drive-thru window in Medford, Massachusetts, taking orders and selfies with customers. At the end of the commercial, Affleck’s wife, Jennifer Lopez, pays him a visit.

“Is this what you do when you say you’re going to work all day?” she asks incredulously, before reminding her husband to grab her a glazed donut on his way out.

The outtakes are a little raunchier, with Affleck telling one customer in an exaggerated Boston accent that the chain is out of both coffee and donuts.

    “What do you got?”

“Ah, water,” says Affleck, as the customer elicits an expletive.

“I’m trying to compensate with comedy for my ineptitude,” the star responds.

Affleck also tells customers that they have to take the Dunkin’ Run deal, which the ad is promoting, running through the menu at such speed that a customer asks him, “Are you alright this morning?”

“Malfunction!” Affleck screams in another scene, angrily pressing on the touchscreen point of service system. “It’s not as easy as it looks,” he adds.

Even so, Dunkin’ stands by the actor’s performance, which just might be his greatest yet.

“We thought, ‘who better to represent [our menu] than the ultimate Dunkin’ runner, Ben Affleck?’” said Dunkin’ chief marketing officer, Jill McVicar Nelson, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

“I’m not your typical Dunkin’ technician,” Affleck says in closing. “Usually, they’re much smarter than me.”

After months of uncertainty, actor Ezra Miller is still at the helm for DC Comic’s upcoming film, The Flash.

In a new trailer released during the Super Bowl on Sunday, Miller, who uses they/them pronouns, reprises their role as the ultra-speedy superhero the Flash.

Miller, 30, previously portrayed the Flash, also known as Barry Allen, in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League.

According to a press release for the film, The Flash sees Barry Allen use his superpowers to travel back in time in an attempt to change the past and save his mother.

“But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation,” the press release reads.

In the trailer, the Flash meets his alternate dimension doppelgänger as well as both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as Batman.

Keaton played the caped crusader in Tim Burton’s 1989 film Batman. Affleck put his own spin on the gravelly voiced superhero first in the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, then again later that year for a brief cameo in Suicide Squad. In 2017, Affleck also played Batman in the ensemble film Justice League, alongside Miller.

Last year, there was ample speculation over the future of Miller’s involvement with DC and Warner Bros. A string of arrests and erratic behaviour from Miller, including allegations of assault, grooming and burglary, left studio execs reportedly concerned.

Miller publicly apologized in August. In a statement to Variety, they said a period of “intense crisis” prompted their recent actions and said they’re now seeking mental health treatment.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller explained. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behaviour. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

In January, Miller agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of trespassing after they were accused of burglarizing a Vermont home and stealing several bottles of alcohol last year.

Also last month, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran said Miller is “completely committed to their recovery.”

“We are fully supportive of that journey they are on right now,” Safran said, adding the studio would discuss Miller’s future “when the time is right.”

“But right now, they are completely focused on their recovery. And in our conversation with them, in the last couple of months, it feels like they are making enormous progress,” he said.

The Flash will be released in theatres on June 16, 2023.

  • Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s Dunkin’ ad makes Super Bowl debut

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s Dunkin’ ad makes Super Bowl debut

    [ad_1]

A Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercial might not have happened without one of the eponymous chain’s celebrity fans: Bostonian and actor Ben Affleck, who directed and starred in this year’s “Dunkin’ ‘Drive-Thru’ Starring Ben.”

The chain — who is apparently on a first name basis with Affleck — enlisted the star’s help in making their first-ever Super Bowl ad after seeing viral footage of him working the drive-thru at a Dunkin’ in Medford, Massachusetts.

“We thought, who better to represent [our menu] than the ultimate Dunkin’ runner, Ben Affleck?” said Dunkin’ chief marketing officer, Jill McVicar Nelson, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

The ad featured Affleck working the drive-thru window, taking orders and selfies with paying customers. At the end of the commercial, Affleck’s wife, singer Jennifer Lopez, pays him a visit.

“Is this what you do when you say you’re going to work all day?” she asks incredulously, before reminding her husband to grab her a glazed donut on his way out.

Fans immediately took to social media, where previous footage of Affleck with Dunkin’ coffee has gone viral.

“All was leading Ben Affleck to this moment, his destiny had come true,” wrote one user.

“As someone who has an album named ‘runs on dunkin’ filled with photos of Ben Affleck and his iced [Dunkin’], I needed that commercial,” wrote another.

Dunkin’ originally pitched an idea that involved Affleck paying a visit to the corporate boardroom, but he suggested an unscripted piece instead. Artists Equity, Affleck’s production company, filmed both.

Leading up to the commercial’s debut, the company teased it both on Twitter, and in stores. On Sunday morning, the company tweeted: “felt cute, might have Ben Affleck in our commercial later.”

“The way sneaker heads feel about exclusive shoe drops is how I feel about the Ben Affleck Dunkin drop,” wrote one user, after a sign on one of the digital menus read, “Something’s Ben Brewing,” with the date of the Super Bowl underneath.

While some were excited to see a familiar face promoting Dunkin’s breakfast value menu, some were less pleased. While Affleck’s heavy Boston accent did not feel to disappoint, his customer service might have.

“It’s Boston, after all, so we had some rather coarse and agitated people who were willing to voice their displeasure in a colorful way, and I’m still lobbying to include the most interesting of those in some of the edgiest social spots,” Affleck told the WSJ.

Dunkin’ said some scenes that did not make the final cut will be promoted on the company’s social media channels instead.

A Dunkin’ spokesperson said that the chain will also be airing the scripted ad in the coming weeks.

  • Jennifer Lopez on Your Jokes About the Grammys: “Over It.”

Jennifer Lopez on Your Jokes About the Grammys: “Over It.”

    [ad_1]

In what may go down as the definitive inquiry into the phenomenon of Ben Affleck, New York magazine’s Alison Willmore argues that though he is an internationally known movie star, Affleck has never had a definitive on-screen role. He’s known (and loved) for being Ben Affleck, and a big selling point for us in the audience is the endless cascade of frank paparazzi photos. If he’s carrying an enormous order from Dunkin’ Donuts, he’s happy; if he’s wrapped in a towel staring into the infinity of the Atlantic Ocean, he’s sad

Those of us who enjoy Affleck’s not-exactly-camera-ready (but, in a way, so camera-ready) moments were given plenty to chew on at the Grammy Awards last week. During the broadcast, there were times in which it did, perhaps, seem as if the Argo director wished he were anywhere else in the galaxy. Furthermore, it appeared as if the newlyweds got into a minor back-and-forth at one moment. (A professional lip-reader said that Jen told Ben to “look more friendly.”)

A Grammy seat-filler, however, reported that the Bennifer bond is as strong as ever, with lots of physical affection. Yet another seat-filler said that the couple was well-aware they were “going viral” thanks to Ben’s spaced-out visage. Apparently Lopez showed Affleck her phone with a chuckle, and he said something to the tune of “Oh, God, this again.”

    Amusing!

But now, days later, the memes keep coming, and, of course, some out there are using it to look for evidence of cracks in the foundation of the Bennifer romance. Not cool! According to Page Six, a well-placed source says that Lopez is well aware of the jokes, and is “over it.”

Whether “over it” means she couldn’t care any less, or “over it” means she is steamed at her husband’s behavior is a little less clear. “She knows how much Ben hates awards shows and was over it the very next day,” the source said. This same person added “Might we suggest for the next awards show she bring her stylist or sister with her? Less headaches.”

To which we say two things: One, “fewer headaches,” and, two, “heck no! Affleck grimacing in public is the tastiest meat in our cultural stew. Don’t take this from us.”

The Bennifer camp had already floated that Affleck was simply “tired,” and this is undoubtedly true. The man is finalizing post-production of his latest picture, Air, in which he also co-stars as Nike founder Phil Knight. (Matt Damon is the lead as marketing genius Sonny Vaccaro, and Viola Davis plays Deloris Jordan, Michael Jordan’s mother. Yes, the movie is about convincing the young Chicago Bulls star to sign with the upstart shoe company instead of one of the major two brands at the time, Converse or Adidas.)

When the trailer dropped this week, J.Lo put it up on her Instagram (with 245 million followers) highlighting a shot of Affleck looking particularly grumpy. “My Husband’s Happy Face,” she wrote, playing the online chatter like a violin.

“To me, hummingbirds are messengers of love,” Lopez explained. “They’re also the fastest bird but they always have time to stop, eat something sweet and smell the roses. When Wakefield and Pellington met Affleck, they deemed the up-and-coming heartthrob “the real Gunner.” Affleck already had a handful of supporting credits to his name (School Ties, Dazed and Confused, Mallrats) but wasn’t yet the superstar that Good Will Hunting and Armageddon would make him. “He’s really playing an extension of himself,” Pellington says, citing what his friend and mentor Cameron Crowe calls a “persona piece.” Gunner’s carnal braggadocio complements Sonny’s jittery intellectualism. Each wants what the other has, hence their budding kinship.

“Jeremy loved the book and came with stuff underlined, and Ben was just so eager,” Pellington recalls. “From the first few rehearsals, they were both supercommitted, superserious, hungry, enthusiastic, prepared. Jeremy had been a lead in Spanking the Monkey, but Ben had never been the lead. He was really hard-working and took it seriously.”

For the women Gunner and Sonny romance as they settle into post-Army life in 1950s Indianapolis, Pellington enlisted Rachel Weisz, Amy Locane (who’d appeared alongside Affleck and his pal Matt Damon in School Ties), and Rose McGowan. But not everything stayed rosy once production wrapped. It was at Sundance in 1997, when McGowan was there to promote the movie, that Harvey Weinstein allegedly assaulted her in a hotel room, as The New York Times reported in 2017. What was supposed to be a business meeting became a traumatizing encounter with one of cinema’s kingmakers, one with ripples that would be felt for decades. McGowan was 24 at the time, having recently appeared in The Doom Generation and Scream. “My life changed,” she told the Times

Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios as co-heads, there has been a slew of major updates. After Henry Cavill announced that he won’t be returning as Superman, word is that Ben Affleck who plays Batman in the DCEU could direct an upcoming film.

Director James Gunn recently caught up with Ben Affleck and the idea of the actor directing a DC film came up. Answering a fan’s question on Twitter, Gunn revealed, “Met with Ben yesterday precisely because he wants to direct & we want him to direct; we just have to find the right project.”

Ben Affleck has directed a fair share of films including Argo, Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Live By Night.

Jennifer Lopez Reveals Heartwarming Message Ben Affleck Engraved In Her Engagement Ring

    [ad_1]

When Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck started dating again nearly 20 years after calling off their wedding, their friends were overjoyed. And while their elopement showed “Bennifer 2.0” was here to stay, the three words Affleck had engraved in Lopez’s ring confirmed it.

“One of the songs that I wrote for the album, which is on the inside of this ring right here, my engagement ring that he gave me, it says, ‘Not. Going. Anywhere,’” Lopez told Zane Lowe in an Apple Music interview released Monday to promote her new album, “This Is Me…Now.”

“That’s how he would sign his emails when we started talking again,” Lopez continued. “Like, ‘Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.’

Lopez later described her initial split from Affleck as “the biggest heartbreak of my life.” The couple met in 2001 on the set of their famous box office flop “Gigli” and were engaged the next year, only to postpone their wedding in 2003 and officially call it quits in 2004.

Lowe said the relentless media coverage of their relationship, which was coined “Bennifer” in the press, was unlike any other in modern Hollywood at the time. He told Lopez there “wasn’t a case study before you two came along,” which Lopez wholeheartedly agreed with.

“No, it was a new thing,” Lopez told Lowe. “It destroyed us. That was part of what destroyed us, the outside energy that was coming at us. And we loved each other. It was hard. It felt at times unfair, but neither one of us is that person, to be like, ‘Woe is me.’”

The media attention that reportedly spurred their split apparently hasn’t been an issue this time. Affleck and Lopez, who ended her relationship with Alex Rodriguez last year, wed in Las Vegas in July.

The couple followed that up with a ceremony at Affleck’s property in Savannah, Georgia, which was attended by director Kevin Smith, Affleck’s “Good Will Hunting” co-star and childhood friend Matt Damon and the couple’s kids from their previous marriages.

“We weren’t only marrying one another; we were marrying these children into a new family,” Lopez wrote in her newsletter at the time, per Page Six. “They were the only people we asked to stand up for us in our wedding party. To our great honor and joy, each one did.”

    CNN
     —

Jennifer Lopez has used the 20th anniversary of the release of her “This Is Me…Then” to announce an update.

“This Is Me…Now” will be her next project and reportedly “chronicles the emotional, spiritual and psychological journey that she has taken over the past two decades.”

Lopez’s social media had gone dark in recent days with much speculation that a big announcement was in the works.

“Featuring confessional songs, reflections on the trials of her past, upbeat celebrations of love with her signature powerhouse vocals, This Is Me…Now shines a spotlight on her tough childhood, unsuccessful relationships and the incredible emotional journey she has been on,” according to Rolling Stone, citing a press release.

The original album, “This Is Me…Then,” was released on November 25, 2002.

In a video posted on her verified social media, Lopez is shown morphing from the artist she was then to who she is today.

“This Was Me…Then” was dedicated to her then-fiance Ben Affleck. It featured her hit single “Jenny From the Block,” as well as a special song about Affleck, “Dear Ben.”

“This Is Me…Now” includes a track titled, “Dear Ben pt. ll.”

The new album was teased in Lopez’s recent Vogue interview in which the collection of songs was referred to “as a kind of bookend to This Is Me…Then, the album she released 20 years ago in the heady early days of her relationship with Affleck.”

“I’m not one of these tortured artists,” Lopez told Vogue. “Yes, I’ve lived with tremendous sadness, like anybody else, many, many times in my life, and pain. But when I make my best music or my best art is when I’m happy and full and feel lots of love.”

Lopez and Affleck are now married, almost 20 years after they first split as a couple.

Jennifer Lopez Reveals How She Reconnected With Ben Affleck After Nearly 20 Years

    [ad_1]

So much for reconnecting with an old flame on Facebook.

Jennifer Lopez revealed in a new interview with Vogue on Tuesday that she and Ben Affleck rekindled their early aughts relationship over email after nearly 20 years apart.

Affleck, who’d just split with his pandemic flame, Ana de Armas, reached out to the “Marry Me” actor after she and Alex Rodriguez broke off their engagement.

According to Vogue’s summary of the events, Affleck told Lopez that another magazine reached out for a comment about her, “and he wanted her to know that he had provided a rave.” The magazine said the two continued to talk after the initial email and began visiting each other’s homes.

“Obviously, we weren’t trying to go out in public,” Lopez said. “But I never shied away from the fact that for me, I always felt like there was a real love there, a true love there. People in my life know that he was a very, very special person in my life. When we reconnected, those feelings for me were still very real.”

“Not to discredit anything in between that happened because all those things were real too,” she said. “All we’ve ever wanted was to kind of come to a place of peace in our lives where we really felt that type of love that you feel when you’re very young and wonder if you can have that again.”

After a bathtub proposal and two weddings (one in Vegas, one in Georgia), the two are now working on blending their families.

“The transition is a process that needs to be handled with so much care,” Lopez said of her twins Emme and Max, who she shares with ex-Marc Anthony. Affleck has three children ― Violet, Seraphina and Samuel ― whom he shares with Jennifer Garner.

“They have so many feelings. They’re teens. But it’s going really well so far,” she said, adding that Garner is “an amazing co-parent, and they work really well together.”

Their children played a sweet role at the couple’s second wedding in Georgia, which Lopez detailed in her newsletter, “On the JLo,” in September.

All five kids walked down the aisle ahead of the singer and stood with their parents during the wedding ceremony.

Jennifer Lopez talks being proud to be ‘Mrs Affleck’, co-parenting with Ben’s ex Jennifer Garner

    [ad_1]

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s romance will go down in history as one of Hollywood’s iconic love stories and recently, the singer opened up on the details of how the couple rekindled their romance following nearly 18 years of their split in the early 2000s. Lopez and Affleck tied the knot earlier this year in Vegas followed by a lavish Georgia wedding.

In a recent interview with Vogue, JLo gave a rare insight into her relationship with her husband Ben Affleck as she detailed how the duo rekindled their romance including who made the first move. Turns out, the first step towards the duo communicating again happened after Affleck mailed Lopez following which the couple never stopped interacting and eventually began hanging out. Speaking about her bond with Ben, she told Vogue, “People in my life know that he was a very, very special person in my life. When we reconnected, those feelings for me were still very real. I don’t know that I recommend this for everybody. Sometimes you outgrow each other, or you just grow differently.”

Jennifer Lopez thinks being ‘Mrs Affleck’ is romantic

It came as a surprise to many on how Jennifer Lopez decided to change her legal name to adopt Ben’s last name and while speaking to Vogue, the singer revealed why she felt proud to be “Mrs Affleck.” She said, “People are still going to call me Jennifer Lopez. But my legal name will be Mrs Affleck because we’re joined together. We’re husband and wife. I’m proud of that. I don’t think that’s a problem.”

Adding on about why she won’t be excited for Ben to be Mr Lopez, she said, “No! It’s not traditional. It doesn’t have any romance to it. It feels like it’s a power move, you know what I mean? I’m very much in control of my own life and destiny and feel empowered as a woman and as a person. I can understand that people have their feelings about it, and that’s okay, too. But if you want to know how I feel about it, I just feel like it’s romantic. It still carries tradition and romance to me, and maybe I’m just that kind of girl.”

    Bennifer’s early relationship

When JLo and Ben dated back in the early 2000s, the duo were among the most covered celebrity couples. The singer in her recent interview admitted how the attention that their relationship received at the time changed her and made her a more guarded person. Speaking about their early romance and their mindset during the time, JLo admitted that they were young and in love and “living out loud” at the time. Lopez also added how she was more carefree about doing and saying things the way she felt at the time which changed over time.

JLo calls Ben’s ex Jennifer Garner an ‘amazing’ co-parent

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck who both share kids with their former partners have made sure to bond as a blended family before tying the knot and in her new interview, the singer spoke about how the children have responded to their marriage and also made a rare comment about Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Speaking about the kind of relationship she hopes to share with the kids, Lopez said, “What I hope to cultivate with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me and my kids have a new ally in him, someone who really loves and cares about them but can have a different perspective and help me see things that I can’t see with my kids because I’m so emotionally tied up.”

Calling Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner an “amazing co-parent” Lopez added that d Affleck and he “work really well together” while managing their three kids, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel. As for Lopez herself, she shares her twins Max and Emme with her former husband Marc Anthony.

Ben’s words of praise for JLo

In the same interview, Ben also chimed in on what he loves most about his wife and gushed about how she is “innately, magically kind and good and full of love.” Revealing how incredible she is to have changed but also remained the same over the years, Ben said, “Maybe she sees all the changes she’s made, whereas when I see her, mostly I just see someone who has retained, against the odds, the thing about her that always made her the most incredible to me: a heart that seems boundless with love. She is my idea of the kind of person I want to be.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck announced their marriage earlier this year as the couple had an impromptu wedding in Las Vegas and later also tied the knot in the presence of their loved ones at the actor’s Georgia estate. The couple had previously announced their engagement in April this year.

Jennifer Lopez Is ‘Proud’ To Take Ben Affleck’s Name: ‘I Just Feel Like It’s Romantic… It Still Carries Tradition’

Jennifer Lopez is loving being Mrs. Affleck.

The singer opens up about her and Ben Affleck’s marriage in a candid new interview with Vogue.

The magazine mentions that The New York Times published an opinion piece calling Lopez out for taking Affleck’s name not long after they tied the knot in July.

The actress insists, “What? Really? People are still going to call me Jennifer Lopez. But my legal name will be Mrs. Affleck because we’re joined together. We’re husband and wife. I’m proud of that. I don’t think that’s a problem.”

She laughs of the possibility of Affleck becoming Mr. Lopez, “No! It’s not traditional. It doesn’t have any romance to it. It feels like it’s a power move, you know what I mean? I’m very much in control of my own life and destiny and feel empowered as a woman and as a person.

“I can understand that people have their feelings about it, and that’s okay, too. But if you want to know how I feel about it, I just feel like it’s romantic. It still carries tradition and romance to me, and maybe I’m just that kind of girl.”

Lopez and Affleck first started dating in 2002, before getting engaged that year and splitting in 2004.

While they were broken up, Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005-2018. They’re parents to Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10, while Lopez shares 14-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony, whom she was married to from 2004-2014.

Lopez’s nearest and dearest are well aware that Affleck has always held a special place in her heart. After the musician split from Alex Rodriguez in early 2021 and Affleck came out of a relationship with Ana de Armas, the actor got in touch with Lopez after being asked for a comment about her by a magazine.

“Obviously we weren’t trying to go out in public,” she explains of them keeping in touch. “But I never shied away from the fact that for me, I always felt like there was a real love there, a true love there. People in my life know that he was a very, very special person in my life. When we reconnected, those feelings for me were still very real.”

She shares of their rekindled romance, “I don’t know that I recommend this for everybody. Sometimes you outgrow each other, or you just grow differently. The two of us, we lost each other and found each other.

“Not to discredit anything in between that happened, because all those things were real too. All we’ve ever wanted was to kind of come to a place of peace in our lives where we really felt that type of love that you feel when you’re very young and wonder if you can have that again. Does it exist? Is it real? All those questions that I think everyone has.

“You go through all these relationships, and you’re searching and you’re connecting and you’re disconnecting with people, and you’re like, God, is this just what life is? Like a carousel, roller coaster, carnival ride? And then it settles. But the journey to that is the mystery for everybody.”

20 Famous Actors Who Used To Be Roommates

    [ad_1]

For many of us, the experience of having roommates is a rite of passage. Whether you lived with others in college, during a first job, or upon moving to a new city, there’s nothing quite like sharing a space with others that are close to you in age but are neither your sibling nor your significant other. Maybe you started out as friends, or you decided to sign a lease as virtual strangers. Every experience is different, and there are many hurdles to overcome. As it turns out, there are plenty of famous actors who can relate to these roommate struggles — although unlike most of us, their housemates also just happened to be other famous actors.

Many of these actors lived together before either one had found fame, making ends meet with the occasional jobs they were booking. Of course, after their careers took off, they could afford to buy their own houses — a far cry from the two-bedroom apartments they were sharing. Yes, even some of the most successful actors were once splitting utilities and dividing chores. Some pairings were successful, while other actors learned that they were better off as friends than housemates.

Below, you’ll discover both the expected and unlikely roommate pairings of Hollywood. Certain actors, such as Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, were frequent collaborators. Others, such as Jamie Dornan and Eddie Redmayne, were auditioning for the same roles. Through thick and thin, these stars persevered — and they have a ton of roomie stories to tell.

  • Ralph Lauren draws A-list Hollywood crowd for sumptuous show

Ralph Lauren draws A-list Hollywood crowd for sumptuous show

    [ad_1]

SAN MARINO, Calif. (AP) — Bronx-born Ralph Lauren, a quintessential New Yorker, had never staged a runway show on the West Coast before. So clearly, with his first show in sunny California, he was going to go big — or, well, stay home.

Big he went, staging a sumptuous display of his well-honed ethos of casual luxury, with strong Western accents like cowboy hats and boots, against a setting sun at the grand Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California, near Los Angeles.

Rivaling his lavish 50th anniversary show in New York’s Central Park in 2018, Thursday’s extravaganza brought in a slew of movie stars — including newlyweds Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck — to watch more than 120 models strut the runway, including some adorable tots in Lauren’s childrenswear who had the fashionable crowd gasping with delight.

“We’re in show business,” the 83-year-old designer said simply in a post-show interview, standing next to the endlessly long, candlelit tables where guests dined post-show on Polo Bar burgers, grilled branzino and other specialties from his restaurant in New York.

Lauren explained that early on, he had felt LA wasn’t his style, but that changed and he finally decided, “OK let’s do something in LA, but let’s do it great.”

Always a celebrity magnet, Lauren brought out a slice of A-list Hollywood with Lopez and Affleck, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, Sylvester Stallone, John Legend, Diane Keaton, Jessica Chastain, Laura Dern, Chris Pine and James Marsden, to name a few.

The intimate affair for some 200 people began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres like tuna tartare on a patio overlooking the lush lawns and gardens of the Huntington, which once housed Gilded Age tycoon Henry Huntington. Celebrity guests mingled along with TikTok influencers and Lauren customers.

As the sun sank lower, guests were summoned to the tiled entrance of the museum, where models strutted to a soundtrack of California-themed songs like “California Dreamin.”

There were plenty of cowboy hats, worn-in jeans and boots to begin with, gradually morphing into fancier wear like long, bright skirts and slinky cut-out gowns for the women.

A gasp traveled through the crowd as two small children appeared, each holding one hand of their accompanying adult, dressed in classic Lauren looks of tweed jackets, sweater vests, pinstriped button-downs and white shorts.

More children followed, including a little boy in bright green trousers who stole the moment by insisting on high-fiving everyone he passed.

The show, which featured designs from several Ralph Lauren lines including menswear and childrenswear, finished with the models all returning to gather on the patio, joined by Lauren as he emerged to cheers.

Over dinner, Kushton and Kunis chatted with Legend, who said in an interview before the show that Lauren is “obviously an icon in the fashion business and has meant so much to style for such a long time.”

Lopez noted that Lauren had dressed her and Affleck for their recent nuptials. “Ralph did our wedding, so we’ve become quite close,” the pop star said. ”And we really love his aesthetic.”

And singer Maggie Rogers noted she had grown up as a fan of the brand. “I have been watching them for the last couple of years and to me they represent such a timeless American style, and I always try and bring that … classic thing to my music,” she said. “So it feels like the perfect match.”

The show’s soundtrack ended with a song that seemed to acknowledge Lauren’s divided feelings, geographically speaking. “Well I’m New York City born and raised,” went the Neil Diamond song “I Am … I Said,” “but nowadays I’m lost between two shores. L.A.’s fine, but it ain’t home. New York’s home but it ain’t mine no more.”
