    4th of july outfits 2025

This post will show you what to wear on the 4th of July, with outfit ideas and clothing under $100.

Fireworks, BBQs, and red, white, and blue everything… the 4th of July is right around the corner, which means it’s time to put together a cute outfit to mark the occasion. If you’re wondering what to wear on the Fourth of July, this is the post for you!

I’ve come up with six Fourth of July outfit ideas for the many different ways you might be spending Independence Day, with options ranging from ultra-casual to dressy. These red, white, and blue outfits are on-trend and non-cheesy, so you won’t have to sacrifice your style while dressing for this fun summer holiday.

Plus, read on for a selection of more than 15 Americana-inspired clothing items under $100 that are perfect for the Fourth of July.

    1. Laid-Back 4th of July Outfit

There’s nothing more classic than wearing blue jean shorts and a red top on Independence Day—it is the ideal look for casual, backyard hangs with friends that will keep you comfy while looking cute.

This cropped red USA graphic print t-shirt couldn’t be more perfect for the 4th of July, and will look great with some distressed, high-rise denim shorts.

Throw on a graphic print trucker hat like this “American Honey” one with a red, white, and blue color scheme, and wear sneakers to keep the outfit laid-back. These red and white Adidas Sambas happen to match the outfit perfectly, and of course, you’ll be able to wear them the rest of the year, too.

Don’t forget to wear some fun jewelry like these beaded bracelets with patriotic accents that come in a pack of three.

    2. Cute 4th of July Outfit

The Fourth never looked so cute! Gingham is a huge trend this summer, and Independence Day is an excellent occasion to wear this classic, eye-catching print.

This navy blue and white gingham print mini dress is absolutely adorable, with a smocked waist, double-tier skirt, and halter neckline. It even has pockets, removable pads (so you don’t have to wear a bra if you don’t want to) and built-in shorts (making it a skort) so you’ll feel comfortable all day long.

Style it with nautical-inspired jewelry, like these gold anchor drop earrings and a charm bracelet with aquatic charms.

Now we can’t forget about the red in the red, white, and blue color palette, so give the ensemble a pop of red with this woven red straw tote bag that has a convenient removable leather crossbody strap; the straw material makes it extra summery.

Sandals would look great with this outfit, but I also like the idea of wearing some white woven mule flats, which are another trend this season.

Perhaps my favorite accessory is the red, white, and blue knitted hair bow barrette, which adds a girly touch—it would look especially cute with a half-up, half-down hairstyle.

    3. Western 4th of July Outfit

A western-inspired look feels appropriate for the Fourth, especially when it involves cowboy boots and a super cute denim romper.

This button-front denim romper has a halter neckline and a retro vibe, and it’s available in a wide size range, from size 00 to 30.

Play up its vintage design with a retro-inspired red faux leather shoulder bag that has a white star patch and piping, along with some retro-looking aviator sunglasses with blue lenses.

This wouldn’t be a western look without a red bandana (which you can wear in your hair, around your neck, or around your wrist as a bracelet) and some cowboy boots—this red pair with studs are guaranteed to make a statement.

If you don’t want to wear an actual cowboy hat, you can still “wear” the look on your ears with these fun rhinestone cowboy hat drop earrings.

    4. Trendy 4th of July Outfit

Looking for a trendy 4th of July outfit? Look no further. If you’re hitting the town and want a festive going out outfit, this combo is a perfect choice.

Start with some straight-leg jeans in a blue wash and dress them up with some red mule kitten heel sandals. Kitten heel are very in this season, plus they are easier to walk in compared to stilettos!

This red strapless top with a fringe hem and back tie details is so eye-catching, festive, and summery.

Accessorize with a cool handbag, like this white faux leather shoulder bag with silver studs all over it, along with silver jewelry to match, like some silver wavy post earrings. This outfit is a trend-forward way to do the Fourth in style!

    5. Preppy 4th of July Outfit

Preppy looks are an adorable option to wear on the Fourth of July, and there are so many ways you can get the look.

For example, go for a cotton dress with a breezy silhouette and a classic blue and white striped pattern like this mini dress with ruffled trimming (and pockets!).

Espadrilles tend to have a preppy vibe, and these white ankle strap espadrille sandals with a woven flatform sole are as classic as they are stylish.

Accessories will take your look to the next level: a red rib knit topknot headband, raffia shell-shaped drop earrings, and a beaded shoulder bag all have a preppy feel and add character to the outfit. In particular, beaded handbags with fun, kitschy prints have been trending this season, and this tomato-print beaded shoulder bag couldn’t be any cuter (plus it matches the outfit’s color palette perfectly).

    6. Beachy 4th of July Outfit

Got beach, lake, or pool plans on the Fourth? Lucky you! In that case, you’ll want to wear an easy, breezy, beachy look in the red, white, and blue color scheme.

Flowy white linen pants are a summertime must-have, and have a total beachy vibe. Style them with a red halter crop top and a blue necklace; this layered necklace is giving Fisherman Core vibes with its coastal charms and fish pendant.

Now, while you don’t *have* to wear blue sandals (white, red, or beige sandals all work well with this outfit), these bright blue slide sandals were too cute not to include, and they happen to match the layered necklace perfectly. Slide sandals are also ideal for the beach and pool, since you can slip them on and off easily to dip your toes in the water.

Be sure to wear some trendy sunglasses, like these tortoise-framed aviator sunglasses with blue lenses, if you’ll be outdoors during the daytime.

Red, White, & Blue Clothing Under $100

Want more options? These red, white, and blue clothing items will help you achieve the perfect Independence Day look without breaking the bank.

Blue & White Striped Halter Dress

How adorable is this blue and white striped halter neck dress? Its bold yet classic stripe pattern is super eye-catching, while details like its halter neckline and tiered skirt give it a feminine feel.

You could easily dress this up for the Fourth with heels, or keep it casual with flat sandals or sneakers.

    “Howdy” Tank Top

Make a statement (literally) with this fun “Howdy” graphic print tank top. It doesn’t get much more American than saying “Howdy,” and combined with its red and white color scheme, it’s definitely giving Americana.

It goes with anything from jeans to denim shorts, maxi skirts, and more.

    Red & White Striped Pants

For a cute, casual vibe, go for these red and white striped pants. They are comfy and stretchy, with a flared silhouette that gives them a retro feel.

I love how they look when paired with a white tube top, or you could opt for an oversized graphic print t-shirt for a more laid-back effect.

Red & White Gingham Mini Dress

As I mentioned earlier, gingham is one of this summer’s hottest prints to wear. Get in on the trend this Independence Day with a red and white gingham print mini dress featuring a V-neck and smocking at the back.

Best of all, the dress is made from a cotton and linen blend which means it’s going to help keep you cool during the July heat!

    Denim Romper

Denim is a hallmark of American style, and this blue denim romper has an elevated design that makes it feel extra festive.

All you’ll need to do is add in some red and white accessories, and you’ll be all set for the Fourth!

Consider wearing a red or blue bandana around your neck (as shown above) and some cowboy boots or sandals with the romper.

    American Flag Embroidered Tank Top

No, that’s not a typo—this tank top with an American flag embroidered on the front is only $5! This ultra-affordable tank is going to make you instantly 4th of July-ready.

The cute American flag embroidered on the front is just the right size to make a statement without going overboard. It will look just as great with denim shorts or jeans as it will with a cute skirt or flowy linen pants. Since it is a basic, the options are endless!

Navy Striped Strapless Drop Waist Mini Dress

We’ve got the stripes, so now all you have to do is add in the stars.

This adorable strapless mini dress features a navy blue and white striped design (it also comes in a red and white striped design that is equally cute and patriotic) with built-in shorts and pockets.

Available in regular, petite, and tall sizing, this dress has a drop-waist silhouette that is right on trend, and its soft, breezy fabric makes it as comfy as it is cute.

Red & White Striped Star Top

Speaking of stars and stripes, this top has both!

With a relaxed, loose fit and a soft, comfy cotton fabrication, this long-sleeve tee gives off an effortless vibe thanks to its vintage-inspired look.

It would look super cute with either blue or white denim (shorts, jeans, or skorts).

    Navy Striped Strapless Crop Top

altard state striped strapless topaltard state striped strapless top

Available in both blue and white stripes and red and white stripes, this adorable strapless crop top is definitely Fourth of July material.

Its Americana color palettes and striped pattern, along with its sweet lace trim and bow, make it a top contender for the summer holiday—but of course, you’ll want to wear it all summer long since it’s a cute way to beat the heat.

    U.S.A. Graphic Print Tank Top

A graphic print tank top or t-shirt is one of the easiest ways to show off your spirit, and this U.S.A. print tank top with an American flag and an affordable price tag is going to match with nearly any bottom you already own thanks to its basic design.

With a light gray hue, ribbed cotton-blend material, and subtle graphic design, it’s super versatile and effortless.

    Pinstripe Short Overalls

Short overalls are always a good idea in the summertime, and these blue denim overalls are extra cute thanks to the pinstriped design. These subtle stripes are perfect for achieving the “stars and stripes” look on Independence Day, and their shade of deep blue denim fits the color scheme of the holiday.

Wear them with a red tank top or crop top and white sneakers or sandals for a playful, laid-back look.

    Striped Blue Smocked Maxi Dress

This striped blue maxi dress with a smocked bust is a total classic that you’ll be able to wear on many occasions beyond the Fourth.

It features a timeless silhouette that looks good on everyone, and when paired with summery accessories like a straw basket bag, espadrille sandals, and cute jewelry (red drop earrings would be perfect for Independence Day), it will make you look ultra polished.

The dress is made with 100% organic cotton gauze, which is lightweight and airy, making it ideal for the summertime heat.

    “America’s Sweetheart” Graphic Print T-Shirt

I am obsessed with this fun graphic print t-shirt that says “America’s Sweetheart” in red lettering across the front.

It has a fitted silhouette that makes it extra cute and feminine, and is sure to be a conversation starter. Even when paired with basic jeans or shorts, you’ll be the center of attention with this top.

    American Flag Embroidered Sweat Shorts

Keep it casual with some sweat shorts with a cute American flag embroidered on the front. This little detail is key to making these shorts patriotic rather than completely basic.

At the same time, they are still ultra comfortable and soft, making them an easygoing choice to wear on the Fourth of July.

P.S. — they’re also great for any beach, pool, or lake day plans you may have during the holiday weekend!

Red & White Striped Sweater Mini Dress

This red and white striped sweater mini dress couldn’t be cuter to celebrate the Fourth in, with its halter neckline and knit material.

It also has an open back, making it extra summery, and comes in a wide size range from XXS to 4X.

Whether you wear it during the day to an outdoor celebration or at night to go out in, it’s a top pick for July 4th.

    Embroidered Pointelle Tank Top

Fisherman Core is one of the season’s trendiest aesthetics, and this aesthetic happens to overlap with Americana style, making it a stylish choice to wear on the Fourth.

Get the look with this adorable white pointelle tank top with navy blue straps and a red crab embroidered on the front. It is totally giving Fisherman Core (even with its shellfish design), but its red, white, and blue color scheme add an Americana effect to it.

The pointelle stitching and scalloped trim also keep it girly.

Red & White Polka Dot Midi Dress

We’ve talked a lot about stars and stripes, but polka dots are just as good a print to wear on the Fourth of July, especially in a red and white color scheme. They have a retro feel that brings to mind American mid-century fashion, and this strapless midi dress is as cute as it gets.

It has a soft mesh fabrication with a front slit and lettuce-edge hem, adding to its appeal. Its pull-on style means that you can throw this on and look instantly put-together, which is a win, especially on a busy summer holiday!

7 Lake Day Outfit Ideas & What to Pack for a Lake House in Summer

    [ad_1]

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you purchase through our links. Please read our full disclosure here.

This post will show you seven outfit ideas for the lake, with fashion and packing tips.

What’s not to love about lake days

Wake surfing, tanning, paddle boarding, sitting around a fire, and, of course, hanging out on a boat. It’s one of the greatest summer activities, next to the beach and pool.

If you’re lucky enough to have lake day plans in your future, you’ll want to bring the right outfits that will be both functional and cute. Going to the lake is all about having fun, unplugging, and relaxing, so you’ll want to wear whatever lets you do both things

And even though most of the time I’m just throwing on any random cover-up on top of my bikini and heading out, there are some days when you might want to look a bit more put-together or get some #lakelife content for your socials, in which case this fashion guide will come in handy.

Whether this is your first time at the lake or you’ve been going there your whole life, we could all do with some lake day fashion inspiration, so read on for lake outfit ideas and packing tips.

Tips for Creating the Perfect Lake Day Outfit:

    • Practical accessories: If you’re on a boat or hanging by the pier, you’ll likely be engaged in a lot of activity, so you don’t want to risk losing your jewelry. If you are going to wear any, make sure it’s not anything precious. And, of course, be sure to bring hats and sunglasses to shade you from the sun.
    • Flowy: When you’re constantly getting wet and running around, you don’t want clothes that will feel tight or stick to you too much, so opt for loose and oversized clothing.
    • Swimwear: Swimwear is the starting point of almost all of your lake day looks, so if it’s going to show, keep it in mind. And if you’ll be doing activities other than laying out, consider wearing swimwear that is a bit sportier, with secure straps and closures (you don’t want anything accidentally flying off!).
    • Slide sandals: You’ll want comfy, uncomplicated sandals that you can slide on and off easily as you hang out lakeside or when you’re hopping on a boat. Try to opt for water-friendly sandals that can get wet without getting ruined.
    • Don’t forget a hoodie, sweatshirt, and/or sweater! Nights and early mornings lakeside can get chilly, even in the middle of summer. Make sure you bring at least one warm layer with you.

    Lake Day Outfit Ideas

Now that we have the basics down, here is some outfit inspiration to step it up at the lake this year.

    Loose White Button-Down + Swimsuit

A loose, oversized white button-down shirt makes for a great cover-up: it looks chic and is a timeless piece that won’t go out of style. The oversized fit makes it easy to throw on over your swimsuit, either alone or over shorts.

This smocked pink bikini set will give you a girly look and keep you secure with its underwire design, but of course, any swimsuit will do.

If there is only one pair of summer sandals I could recommend to you, it would be Birkenstock’s Arizona waterproof slide sandals. They are affordable, super comfy, ultra-lightweight, can get wet, and come in a ton of different colors, giving you plenty of options to find your favorite (this pink pair is especially adorable and matches the bikini perfectly).

Pro tip: bring a disposable camera along with you to capture your memories at the lake that you can get printed later on. It will give your photos a vintage vibe and help you *disconnect* from your cell phone while you’re out in nature. This one-time-use camera features a fun neon smiley print that even glows in the dark!

Terrycloth Cover-Up Set + Swimsuit + Bucket Hat

Terrycloth pieces are perfect for the lake because they’ll help you dry off without the need for a towel.

This shirt and shorts set with a comfortable, relaxed fit is going to make getting dressed a breeze (no need to find matching pieces when the work has already been done for you) and is made from a soft, absorbent toweling material.

The bright orange hue adds to the set’s trendy vibe — consider pairing it with an equally bright, printed bikini or swimsuit for an eye-catching look.

Functional accessories can still be stylish, like a pair of cool aviator sunglasses and a frayed canvas bucket hat, both of which will help shield you from the sun while making you look on-trend.

Complete this lake look with some water-friendly platform slide sandals, another functional yet trendy item.

One-Piece Swimsuit + Flowy Pants (Or Shorts)

One-piece swimsuits are such versatile pieces because they can be worn like bodysuits paired with shorts, skirts, and pants.

This strapless brown scrunch one-piece is a perfect example, being an item that will look just as great outside of the water and worn with some flowy white pants or shorts. These pants feature an elastic waist with a drawcord (meaning, they’re comfortable) and are made from a lightweight, natural fabric that’s ideal for summer lake weather.

Bring along a cute, roomy straw tote bag to carry your towel and other belongings down to the dock, and wear some water-friendly slide sandals, like this pillowy pair.

Jewelry at the lake is definitely not necessary (or recommended, TBH), but this beaded necklace matches the ensemble perfectly, and since it’s under $10, it won’t be the end of the world if you happen to lose it during water activities.

    Flowy Maxi Skirt + Swimsuit

Lake Day Outfit with gingham bikini and white maxi skirtLake Day Outfit with gingham bikini and white maxi skirt

Products: Bikini Top, Bikini Bottom, Skirt, Sunglasses, Head Scarf, Sandals, Wireless Speaker

This look is giving Lana Del Rey Americana vibes, and I am so here for it. Red and white gingham is so fitting for the lake, and this gingham bikini with white bow details couldn’t be cuter.

While it would look great with denim shorts, try a tiered white maxi skirt instead. These flowy skirts are a major trend this summer, and their light, airy design makes them a surprisingly effortless option.

Style the outfit with vintage-inspired accessories like some slim cat-eye sunglasses and a headband scarf, plus some flat slide sandals.

You can play your tunes (LDR or otherwise) with this fun, retro-inspired wireless speaker that pairs with your smartphone and is sand and water-resistant, making it a dockside must-have.

    Romper Cover-Up + Swimsuit

Rompers also make great cover-ups, so long as they are loose-fitting and easy to take on and off!

Look for a romper that has a relaxed fit with wide legs, like this one that comes in a bunch of different colors. It is lightweight and stretchy, with adjustable straps that allow you to customize its length.

Wear your romper over the swimsuit of your choice — this printed bikini with embroidered stitching is such a cute option with a beachy, boho vibe.

No accessories are needed here, other than some sunglasses and sunscreen (the #1 lake day must-have), of course!

Denim Shorts + Sweatshirt + Trucker Hat

One thing about me? I’m not leaving the lake without making (and devouring) some s’mores. There’s no better place to sit around a fire and roast marshmallows!

When you’re not in a swimsuit or bikini, you’ll want chill, comfy clothes that are easy to throw on, like a basic white tank top and denim shorts (an unbeatable combo). I’d suggest opting for a pair of loose-fitting denim shorts like this pair rather than a tight-fitting, ultra-short pair that you won’t be comfortable sitting in.

It’s crucial to bring at least one warm layer for nighttime, and this USA flag sweatshirt is a super cute choice. Wear it with a red, vintage-inspired trucker hat and some comfortable footbed clogs for a trendy yet laid-back look that’s ideal for hanging out and making s’mores fireside at night.

Flowy Maxi Dress + Denim Jacket

While at first thought a dress might seem too *fancy* for the lake, think again.

Dresses can be surprisingly effortless and easily worn over a bikini or on their own around the house, for a BBQ, when traveling, etc. So long as you pick a dress that’s made with a lightweight fabric and has a flowy design, you’ll be glad to have packed one (or a few).

If you’ve got lakeside BBQ plans, go for a flowy maxi dress, like this adorable gingham print maxi dress paired with some sandals.

As I mentioned before, you’ll want a lightweight outer layer for chilly mornings or evenings, and a denim jacket is a classic choice that would look great with almost any casual dress.

You don’t need to go overboard with accessories, but a cute cherry necklace and a red hair clip for a subtle pop of color will take this outfit to the next level.

Which lake day outfit is your favorite?
