Vigil is returning with a much-anticipated series 3, and the BBC has just dropped some teaser images from the set. We’ve got all the insider info on the plot, actors, location, and possible start date.
Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie will be back as DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre. And this time they’ll be facing their “most high-stakes mission yet” (and the coldest).
The partners in crime – and in love – are returning with a brand new mystery, and it’s currently in production. Here’s everything you need to know about Vigil series 3 on BBC One.

Is there a Vigil series 3?
Good news for fans of Vigil, as there WILL be a series 3. Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie will return as partners DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre.
This time, their new case takes them to a remote Arctic research station. There they must investigate the murder of a member of a covert British special forces mission.
The synopsis tells us: “Amy and Kirsten will need to catch the killer and diffuse a potential international confrontation, driven by a land-grab for energy and resources in the changing polar climate, with both their careers and relationship on the line.”
Writer Tom Edge explained: “In our third season we travel to the frozen north. This is where the world’s great powers are competing to secure advantages as the ice melts.
“With a brilliant cast and crew assembling to make the show, we hope to deliver an epic investigation that shines a light on issues that will shape the world we all live in. This series grapples with the issues that will define tomorrow’s world. These issues include melting ice caps, conflict over resources, energy wars, and lives put at risk in pursuit of peace and profits.”

When’s the start date?
The third series started filming in Scotland and Svalbard in September 2025. Filming has now wrapped.
Series three of Vigil will be coming to BBC iPlayer and BBC One later this year. Series one and two can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
Vigil series 1, set on a nuclear submarine called HMS Vigil, aired in August 2021. Series 2 came in December 2023. It saw the detectives investigate when a weapons test turned deadly.
So the Beeb has often made us wait at least two years between series. Although this is probably a result of Suranne and Rose’s busy schedules.
Is Vigil any good?
Well, millions of viewers can’t be wrong, can they? The BBC report that “Vigil is one of the UK’s most successful dramas this decade”.
It was nominated for Best Drama Series at the 2022 BAFTA Television Awards. It went on to win the International Emmy for Best Drama Series.
Series two launched to nearly nine million viewers. It was in the BBC’s top three most watched dramas of the year.
And, of course, the guest cast – which has included Dougray Scott, Adam James, Shaun Evans, and Martin Compston – doesn’t hurt either.

Who returns in the cast of Vigil series 3?
Leading actors Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie will be back as DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre to solve another tricky case. Suranne Jones – best known for Doctor Foster, Gentleman Jack, and Coronation Street – said: “I can’t wait to return to Vigil series three, see our brilliant team in Scotland and work with Rose again. I’m sure it will be a thrill of a ride.”
Meanwhile, Rose Leslie added: “I can’t wait to get stuck into another season of Vigil, to work with the wonderful Suranne Jones again and our brilliant crew. And this time, Kirsten will get to pack her bags and join Amy on what’s set to be Vigil’s most high-stakes mission yet!”
Rose is famous for playing Ygritte in the acclaimed HBO series Game of Thrones. She recently appeared in Miss Austen opposite Keeley Hawes.
The Bay’s Gary Lewis will return to reprise his role as Detective Superintendent Robertson. He’s appeared in all three series of Vigil so far.
Little Disasters’ Dominic Mafham returns as Sir Ian Downin. Deadwater Fell’s Orla Russell also returns as Poppy, Amy and Kirsten’s daughter.

Who is new in the cast?
The new cast for the third series includes Derek Riddell – although nothing has been revealed about his character yet. Happy Valley fans will know him as Catherine’s ex-husband Richard Cawood, as well as Richie Gulliver in Crime.
In 2019, he portrayed Chris Brooks in series 5 of Shetland. It’s not the first time Chris has worked with Suranne Jones, either. He portrayed Captain Sutherland in Gentleman Jack.
Steven Miller, who recently played the villain in Dept. Q, has also joined the cast of Vigil series 3.
Other names announced include Norwegian actor Jeppe Beck Laursen, Artificial Breathing star Tornike Gogrichiani, Belgravia: The Next Chapter’s Benjamin Wainwright, and The Old Man’s Artur Zai Barrera are also confirmed.
Also joining the cast are: Mood’s Jordan Duvigneau, Hijack’s Kaisa Hammarlund, FBI: International’s Adam Fidusiewicz, DI Ray’s Naomi Yang, In Bruges’ Eric Godon, Karen Pirie’s Conor Berry, and Rebus’ Amy Manson.

How many episodes is it? How can I watch it?
Vigil series 3 will be six episodes of one hour each.
This follows the same format as series 1 and 2, which are currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Where was Vigil series 3 filmed?
In September 2025, the BBC announced that production for the third series was underway in Svalbard and Scotland.
Vigil series 1 was filmed largely in Scotland, with series 2 set in the fictional Middle Eastern country of Wudyan – which was recreated in Morocco.
The upcoming series 3 is being filmed in Svalbard. Previously known as Spitsbergen or Spitzbergen, it’s a frosty Norwegian archipelago that lies at the border of the Arctic Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.
Jake Lushington, executive producer for World Productions, says: “We are thrilled to be kicking off filming series three of Vigil with Suranne and Rose in the epic arctic landscapes of Svalbard. We welcome our most multi-national cast to date, as well as featuring new and established Scottish talent.”
Call the Midwife series 15 is back with episode 5 – and it’s another emotional trip to London’s East End, complete with a guest cast packed with familiar faces you’ll definitely recognise.
This week’s instalment introduces the Barrowman family when their matriarch buys food from Violet for a big get-together. But what should be a joyful gathering quickly turns to tragedy when everyone who attended is suddenly struck down by a mysterious illness.
Elsewhere, an expectant mum hopes for a home birth that honours both her and her husband’s traditions, while Sister Veronica makes a life-changing decision.
Here’s who’s who in the guest cast of Call the Midwife series 15 episode 5.

Call the Midwife series 15 episode 5 cast: EastEnders’ Milly Zero stars as Lana
London-born actress Milly Zero – real name Melissa Jasmine Skye Zero – joins the Call the Midwife cast in episode 5.
Milly, 26, trained at The BRIT School and will be instantly recognisable to soap fans, even if she looks VERY different here as chain-smoking new mum Lana. And don’t expect her character to win you over either – she isn’t particularly kind to poor Sister Julienne.
EastEnders viewers will remember Milly as Dotty Cotton, a role she played from 2019 to 2022 after taking over from Molly Conlin, who portrayed the character between 2008 and 2010.
Dotty arrived as the daughter of villain Nick Cotton, son of long-suffering Dot. Nick famously used his daughter as a partner-in-crime and together they plotted to kill Dot and inherit her money. Milly eventually left the soap after three years in the role.
The actress first appeared on TV as a child star, making her debut aged 13. From 2013 to 2015, she played Hannah Enright in CBBC series All At Sea.
Since leaving Walford in 2022, Milly has made only a handful of TV appearances, including Lisa Gillespie in a 2023 episode of Doctors, playing Kitty in the 2023 short film Better, and a Burns Unit nurse in the Netflix series Too Much.

Press Gang’s Lee Ross plays Ivan Barrowman
Luton-born actor Lee Ross, 55, appears as Ivan Barrowman, who reveals he has recently moved back to the area with his family. Sadly, the story takes a tragic turn for them.
Lee has been a familiar face on screen since the 80s, beginning as a child star playing Dodger in Dramarama and spin-off Dodger, Bonzo & the Rest. His breakthrough came between 1989 and 1991 as Kenny Phillips in Press Gang, alongside Julia Sawalha, in the series about youngsters producing the Junior Gazette.
He later appeared in Westbeach, Shine on Harvey Moon and football drama Playing the Field, where he played Ryan Pratt.
Between 2006 and 2009, Lee played Owen in EastEnders – several years before Milly Zero joined the soap. Other TV credits include Catherine Tate’s sketch show, Life on Mars as DCI Litton, Mutual Friends as Harry Seed, Barnes in Titanic and Ronnie in White Gold.
More recently, he has appeared as Deputy Director Richard Cockridge in Bulletproof, Prison Officer Jon Steddon in Professor T, and Kloris in both series of Andor.

Joanne Howarth plays Lana’s neighbour Mrs Russell
Manchester-born but London-raised Joanne Howarth plays Mrs Russell, Lana’s neighbour who alerts the midwives after hearing her giving birth alone.
The 65-year-old is well known for her theatre work, particularly with Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, and has a TV career spanning almost 30 years.
Between 2000 and 2001, Joanne starred as Spencer’s mum Sue Hargreaves. Since then, she has appeared in episodes of In Deep, The Bill, EastEnders, Spooks, Casualty, Doctors and It’s a Sin. Call the Midwife marks her first TV role since It’s a Sin in 2021.

The Night Manager series 2 came to a gut-wrenching ending this week, brutally killing off two major characters in a final, high-stakes showdown between good and evil.
The body count climbed fast as Jonathan Pine risked his own life to stop Richard Roper’s deadly plan. Instead, viewers watched in horror as everything unravelled before his bloodshot eyes. Time and again, Richard Roper stayed one step ahead.
The final 10 minutes landed blow after brutal blow. While the ending proved emotionally crushing, it also left the door wide open for a series 3. Here’s the ending of The Night Manager series 2 explained…
***Warning: spoilers from The Night Manager ending ahead***

What happened in The Night Manager ending?
In the closing moments of the penultimate episode, Mayra Cavendish’s men shot Basil dead after subjecting him to light torture. The final episode then piled shock upon shock, with more deaths following fast.
Viewers learned that Mayra had also ordered the hit on Rex Mayhew. She wasn’t finished there. She still had one more life to take – and as TV deaths go, this one proved particularly hard to watch.
Teddy Dos Santos and Jonathan Pine joined forces to stop Roper’s plan. Teddy finally realised his father had only ever used him and decided to return to the UK without him. Pine wanted to shut down Roper’s operation once and for all – and for him, it had always been personal.
Richard Roper wanted Jonathan Pine’s “head on a stick”, but the outcome proved almost worse. The finale left Pine broken, burdened by multiple deaths on his conscience. The ending delivered twist after twist, and just when it looked like Pine might win, Roper revealed he had already outplayed him.
What was Richard Roper’s plan and did he get away with it?
Richard Roper used his son Teddy’s charity, Aurora, as a front to recruit child soldiers to fight a rebel war in Colombia.
He planned to deliver an electromagnetic weapon – built and funded by the British – to exiled leader José Cabrera. His men would drive the weapon into Medellín during a major festival. Once detonated, it would plunge the city into darkness, cutting power to homes and hospitals, triggering chaos, deaths, and looting.
The public would blame the Colombian government, giving insurgent leader José Cabrera the opportunity to step in with his rebel army to “restore order” – fully funded and backed by Mayra Cavendish.
In the final episode, Teddy turned on his father and tried to sabotage the plan.
The episode focused on Jonathan Pine’s attempt to intercept the plane carrying the weapon. For a moment, it looked like the plan might succeed. Then Pine discovered the truth: Roper had switched the planes. Two aircraft, two very different cargos.

What was Jonathan Pine’s plan?
Teddy and Jonathan devised an elaborate plan. Teddy arrived in the jungle with Pine as his apparent hostage. He told Cabrera and his men that Pine worked for British intelligence and secretly collaborated with Roper.
They used photos of Pine and Roper together, along with doctored phone calls, to convince Cabrera that Roper planned to betray him. Pine then claimed that Roper intended to kill the mercenaries and that the proof lay in the plane never arriving.
Pine’s allies – by this point mainly Sally and the head of Colombia’s supreme court – would intercept the plane carrying the weapon. But Roper anticipated the betrayal.
Distrusting his son, Roper sent a decoy plane. The real aircraft delivered the weapon safely to Cabrera’s forces, exposing Pine’s lies and confirming Roper’s control.
Sally intercepted the dummy plane and found a single red rose inside. The message couldn’t have been clearer.
What happened to Teddy Dos Santos in The Night Manager ending?
With victory secured, Roper committed his most horrifying act yet. He killed his own son.
Before pulling the trigger, Roper told Teddy: “I can forgive your immortal soul. But not your mortal one.”
He then shot Teddy in the forehead, killing him instantly – just as viewers had started to warm to him.
Roper’s true emotional attachment, however, lay with his younger son Danny (Noah Jupe). And Danny became his next destination.

The Night Manager series 2 ending: What happened to Richard Roper?
Flush with cash from his deal with the British government, Trickie Dickie paid off his Syrian debts and fled Colombia.
He returned to the UK and reunited with his son Danny Roper. The moment showed a flicker of humanity, albeit a shallow one, given that his eldest son now lay dead in the jungle.
Roper claimed he had “shed his old skin and grown a new one”. He remained as vile as ever – tan or no tan.
He collected Danny from his expensive private school and whisked him away for the weekend. Thanks to Mayra Cavendish, Roper settled into a lavish Oxfordshire home complete with a pool, tennis courts, and luxuries he had no right to enjoy.
The Night Manager series 2 ending: What happened to Jonathan Pine?
By the end, Jonathan Pine had taken a thorough beating – emotionally and physically. He watched Roper murder Teddy and escape unpunished.
Earlier, Roper had offered Pine a deal: 50 million dollars to walk away and disappear. By the finale, Pine likely regretted turning it down.
Although he escaped Roper and the mercenaries, his future looked bleak. Could he get out of Colombia? And if he did, what kind of relationship would he have left with British intelligence? Very few people remained whom he could trust.
The Night Manager’s Angela Burr met a tragic end (Credit: BBC)
Is Angela Burr dead? Who killed her?
After Basil’s death, Angela Burr stepped up and took charge. From the UK, she pressured Roper’s old associate Sandy into handing over evidence, threatening to send him back to prison for breaching parole.
Sandy talked – but too late. Even with emails linking Mayra Cavendish and arms investor Adam Holywell, Angela couldn’t stop the weapon.
Roper and Mayra won. But Angela knew too much.
In the final moments, viewers saw Angela Burr lying dead, shot in the chest. Her young daughter discovered the body. In the distance, a figure walked away – one that looked very much like Mayra Cavendish.
We need a series 3. And this time, it’s personal. Justice for Angela.
What else happened in The Night Manager ending?
Roper used Roxana as bait to stop Pine, but Pine outmanoeuvred him. Realising Roxana had double-crossed him – under pressure – Roper abandoned her. The series ended with Roxana seemingly heading for a flight to Miami, although viewers never saw her board.
Roper’s plan succeeded. He returned safely to the UK while civil war tore through Colombia following the power outage caused by his weapon. The ending brought triumph for Roper – and devastation for an entire country.
Traitors fans have reacted with joy to Rachel Duffy and Stephen Libby winning this year’s series.
After a nail-biting final, the Traitors outplayed the remaining Faithful and took the prize in dramatic style.
There were moments when both looked ready to turn on each other.
But when it mattered most, they held their nerve and saw it through together.

It was tense, unpredictable television. And the fact two Traitors made it to the end made the victory even more remarkable.
Fans have now reacted to Rachel and Stephen’s win.
Writing on X, one gushed: “So happy Rachel & Stephen deserved to win brilliant traitors!”
Another added: “So happy for these 2, was worried at start but their bond got stronger & stronger. They stuck together throughout & got the reward. Best traitor duo EVER?”
And a third penned: “How fitting that the two most faithful Traitors that have been on the show last until the end and win together. Amazing to watch.#TheTraitors has been fantastic once again.”
The Traitors: What happened in the final
The final picked up exactly where the last episode left off, with a brutal cliffhanger hanging over the Round Table.
James Baker and Rachel were locked in a deadlock, forcing Claudia to bring out the chests of chance to decide their fate.
When the boxes were opened, James found his was empty. Rachel revealed an immunity shield, sealing his exit from the game.
That meant James was banished from the game and Rachel moved forward with fellow Traitor Stephen and Faithfuls Faraaz, Jade and Jack.
The next morning, the remaining players faced their final Mission. Split into two teams, they raced to collect cash from floating pontoons before scaling a towering dam wall to meet Claudia.
Then came a final twist. They were offered the chance to win an extra £10,000 by running straight down the wall on a harness and sprinting to a waiting helicopter.
Rachel admitted she was terrified, revealing she had a fear of heights. But she shocked everyone by going for it anyway.
“I just saw Rachel sprint in front of me. I mean, she was insane!” Stephen said.
The Final Round Table
With the mission complete, attention turned back to strategy and suspicion.
Both Rachel and Stephen appeared ready to sacrifice each other if it meant securing the win.
Stephen admitted: “Defending Rachel could actually spell the end of my game. If I don’t vote for her at the Round Table tonight, I think Jack and Jade will think it is really suspicious.”
Faraaz planned to remove Jade first, then target Rachel and win alongside Jack. Rachel, meanwhile, wanted Jade gone so she and Stephen could move forward together.
When the votes were cast, Jack voted for Rachel and Jade voted for Faraaz. But Rachel, Faraaz and Stephen all voted for Jade, sending her out of the game.

Rachel and Stephen win in The End Game
Rachel, Stephen, Jack and Faraaz then faced The End Game.
Each player received a pouch of sand and had to choose whether to banish again or end the game.
All four chose to banish. Faraaz voted for Stephen. Rachel wrote Faraaz’s name. Jack chose Rachel, while Stephen also picked Faraaz.
Faraaz was banished, leaving just three players standing.
They went again, and once more all chose to banish. Rachel voted for Jack. Jack voted for Rachel. Stephen stayed true to his word and voted for Jack.
That decision sealed it. Stephen and Rachel were declared the winners!
How much did they win?
Stephen and Rachel shared a prize pot of £95,750. An impressive £19,000 of that total came from the final mission alone.
Split evenly, they each take home £47,875.
Claudia summed it up perfectly, telling them: “Two Traitors, but totally Faithful to each other.”
The Traitors fans have been left furious ahead of tomorrow night’s final, with many accusing BBC producers of interfering with the game at the very last hurdle.
The penultimate episode saw the group push themselves to their physical limits in the second-from-last mission, but viewers were quick to claim that a key decision from the BBC crossed a line.
Roxy was murdered by the Traitors, and right up until her final moments in the castle she firmly believed Rachel and Stephen were Faithfuls – leaving many viewers wishing they could have seen her reaction once the truth was revealed.

Brutal mission
Tensions were already high as Traitor Stephen appeared to slowly turn his back on fellow Traitor Rachel. That atmosphere only intensified during the gruelling mission, which required the group to carry heavy gold rocks in backpacks up a steep incline to the top of a peak.
Once there, they had to place their gold rocks onto a shield in order to block the Traitors from carrying out the final murder of the series. Along the route, contestants could smash urns with their gold rocks to collect more – a twist that left many viewers confused.
James rushed back down the hill to gather extra gold, but after pushing himself too far he began vomiting and collapsed on the grassy verge. Faraaz ran to collect the gold, while Jack and Stephen stayed with James to make sure he was okay.

BBC producers accused of ‘interfering’ by The Traitors fans
Despite the drama, the group completed the mission successfully, meaning Rachel and Stephen were unable to murder that night. While this initially appeared to benefit the Faithfuls, it also prevented the Traitors from making a final decisive move in the game – something fans weren’t happy when it came to the BBC producers’ decision.
That twist didn’t sit well with fans at home. Many argued that allowing the mission to stop the final murder altogether went against the core nature of The Traitors, especially so close to the end.
One BBC viewer wrote: “I really dislike when the producers interfere because it looks like the Traitors will win (the seer last year, stopping the final murder this year). If they deserve it and the Faithfuls don’t, just let the Traitors win.”
Another added: “Letting them prevent the last murder is awful producer interference? Like what is going on? Such an unfair advantage and we know Rachel is going now. This is heading for the most boring end ever.”
A third fan commented: “Season 4 of The Traitors has had the worst group of Faithfuls. Yet, production has swayed this for the Faithfuls to win. I will be fuming if a Traitor doesn’t win – Rachel and Stephen have worked hard.”
Entertainment Daily has approached the BBC for comment.

Stephen vs Rachel
In Wednesday’s episode, Rachel warned Stephen that he might hear her name come up in castle discussions – a moment that immediately worried fans that the two remaining Traitors were about to turn on each other.
The following morning at breakfast, Stephen began subtly sowing seeds of doubt. He told Jack that Faraaz had entered the library claiming he believed Rachel was a Traitor. Jade and James later joined the conversation, discussing how Rachel had ignored Harriet’s warnings before Harriet’s explosive exit from the castle.
Stephen continued his efforts in the kitchen with Jade and Jack, reminding them how Rachel had previously helped get Fiona banished as a Traitor in a similar fashion to how Harriet had targeted Rachel.
Meanwhile, Rachel attempted to redirect suspicion onto James. After branding him an “evil genius” at breakfast, she compared him to Columbo while chatting with Faraaz before the mission. James was quick to respond that Columbo was the detective, not the murderer – a remark that didn’t go unnoticed.
James faces banishment as well (Credit: BBC)
Chests of chance cliffhanger
At the Round Table, Jack, James and Jade questioned Rachel on several points, including why she voted for Matt after claiming she wanted to reach the final with him. Stephen also opened the floor against James, despite spending much of the day casting doubt on Rachel.
James faced questions over why he frequently voted the same way as Jack – an issue previously raised by banished Faithful Matt.
The atmosphere became increasingly tense as Stephen and Rachel directly challenged one another. Rachel raised the cage mission, where Stephen had been imprisoned, before Stephen fired back. Despite everything, Stephen ultimately voted for James, staying true to his earlier stance.
The vote ended in a deadlock, with three votes for Rachel and three for James. A second round of pleas and voting produced the same result.
Host Claudia Winkleman then introduced the chests of chance, and in classic Traitors fashion, the episode ended on a cliffhanger – leaving fans to wait until the final to discover who would be banished and whether the Traitors’ fate has already been sealed.
Death in Paradise fans are bracing themselves for a big change as the BBC One crime drama returns for series 15 – and it’s official that Ginny Holder won’t be part of the new run. Viewers have already shared their disappointment, with many admitting they’re genuinely “sad” to see her go.
After appearing on and off in the Caribbean crime drama for eight years, Ginny will be absent from the upcoming episodes. The BBC confirmed her exit in a social media update this week, just days before series 15 launches.
The broadcaster was keen to thank the actress for her work as Darlene Curtis and hinted that this might not be the last we’ve seen of her on Saint Marie.
So what’s going on, why is Ginny leaving, and who’s stepping in next? Here’s everything we know so far.
Ginny Holder as Officer Darlene Curtis in Death in Paradise (Credit: BBC)
Is Officer Darlene Curtis actress Ginny Holder in Death in Paradise series 15?
The answer is no. BBC One has confirmed that Ginny Holder has officially left Death in Paradise, and her character Officer Darlene Curtis will not appear in series 15.
Sharing the news on social media, the channel wrote: “Sadly, we’re saying goodbye to Darlene this series. Ginny Holder has been a much-loved cast member. And we’re hugely grateful to her for bringing her talent to Officer Darlene Curtis.”
The post continued: “We wish her all the best – maybe we’ll catch up with her in Saint Marie in the future!”
That wording certainly suggests the door is still open for a possible return in the future.
Why did she leave?
Neither the BBC nor Ginny herself has explained the reason behind her departure. But there’s no doubt that loyal viewers will feel her absence.
Darlene first arrived in the show back in series 7, initially introduced as Dwayne Myers’ love interest while working as admin at the police station. Fans then watched her train as an officer, eventually becoming an important and trusted member of the team.
Although she did feature in the 2025 Christmas special, her appearance was brief. Darlene only popped up on a mobile phone screen, with the storyline explaining that she was away caring for her unwell aunt.

What is Ginny Holder doing now?
Ginny won’t be off screens for long, as she’s set to appear in series 3 of The Capture. Viewers will be able to watch the intelligent thriller in the spring schedules on BBC One. She’ll be reprising the role she first played back in series 1 in 2019.
The London-born actress stars as DS Nadia Latif, who later became a DI. She also appeared in series 2, which aired in 2022.
Who is replacing Ginny Holder’s Darlene in Death in Paradise series 15?
Actress Catherine Garton joins the Death in Paradise cast for series 15, playing new arrival Sergeant Mattie Fletcher. Viewers of The War Between the Land and the Sea will recognise her as Corporal Jane Hart.
The rest of the main cast remains firmly in place. Don Gilet is back as DI Mervin Wilson, alongside Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas, Shaquille Ali-Yebuah as Officer Sebastian Rose, Don Warrington as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, and Elizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey.
The BBC has also confirmed a strong guest line-up, including Happy Valley favourite Siobhan Finneran and Spooks star Hermione Norris.
Sadly, we’re saying goodbye to Darlene this series. Ginny Holder has been a much-loved cast member, and we’re hugely grateful to her for bringing her talent to Officer Darlene Curtis.

Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to react to the news, with many sharing how much they’ll miss Darlene.
One viewer wrote: “Darlene will be missed – who else will put DI Mervin in his place?!”
Another said: “She’s been such an amazing character for the show and I’m sure we will all miss her smiling face.”
A third commented: “Aww, Darlene will be missed and have enjoyed her character very much. Wishing @GinnyHolder1 all the best for the future and hope it won’t be too long before we see her on screen again.”
“I love Darlene, the character will be missed and the actor who played her so brilliantly,” added another. While one fan summed it up simply: “Gutted, she’s been a great character.”
Stephen has somehow scraped through yet another day in The Traitors as the competition barrels into the second half – and this time it came down to a slip-up that could have ended his game.
Thursday night’s episode saw Sam finally banished from the castle, leaving just two Traitors still in play. Sam had been under suspicion for a while, and when the vote turned against him, he made sure to insist he was a Faithful right to the end.
With Sam gone, Traitors Rachel and Stephen were faced with a crucial decision over who to murder next in order to steady their positions and redirect attention. Their options were Jessie, Faraaz or Matt. In a blow for viewers, fan favourite Jessie was killed.
In tonight’s episode, Stephen appeared to make a glaring mistake during a conversation with Jade and Jack – but incredibly, it didn’t come back to haunt him at the Round Table.

Fans think Jade noticed Stephen’s mistake on The Traitors
The trio were chatting outside as Jack shared his growing unease, admitting he suspected someone close to him could be a Traitor. At the same time, he reassured them both that he trusted them.
It was during this exchange that Stephen seemed to trip himself up.
“What I will say, and I’m saying this more because I know that I am a… Faithful,” he said, visibly stumbling over the word.
Jade responded with an awkward smile before the conversation moved on, but viewers at home were quick to notice.
“Stephen, you just started to say ‘I’m a Tra-Faithful’ and she noticed,” wrote one fan.
Another added: “Stephen to Jack: ‘I know that I’m a T-Faithful.’”
A third summed up the mood perfectly: “This episode is stressing me out for Stephen.”

Stephen’s lucky escapes so far
Once again, Stephen appears to have landed on his feet. Despite his facial expressions and obvious nerves, no one in the castle has seriously questioned him so far.
Jessie had previously begun to suspect Stephen after Ben’s murder, and again following Ross’s banishment as a Faithful. She was convinced a Traitor had been present in the library when Ben made his confession before being killed.
That night, both Fiona and Stephen were in the room. Fiona was later banished and exposed as a Traitor, allowing Stephen to breathe a sigh of relief. But Jessie quickly turned her attention back to him during the Cage mission. Before she could fully rally support, she was murdered at the start of tonight’s episode.
Rachel’s game plan is working (Credit: BBC)
Rachel appears to bulletproof
Meanwhile, Rachel continues to evade suspicion despite repeated warnings from other players.
Fellow Traitor Fiona turned on Rachel in the second week after believing she had lied about what Faithful Amanda had told her regarding her career. Amanda had privately revealed to Rachel that she was a former Metropolitan Police detective, hoping to strengthen her case against Jade and Sam.
That same evening, Amanda was banished. When Rachel later disclosed Amanda’s former job to the group, Fiona sensed something wasn’t right. She tried to expose Rachel as a Traitor, but her plan backfired and Fiona was voted out instead.
Harriet also raised concerns about Rachel, though her approach failed to convince the group. She only revealed she was a thriller writer and former criminal barrister midway through the game, explaining she didn’t want to paint a target on her back.
By Wednesday night, Harriet had concluded Rachel was a Traitor, but her delivery didn’t land. She snapped at Roxy during breakfast, talked over others, and delivered a lengthy argument at the Round Table. Harriet even urged the group to vote her out so she could “sacrifice” herself as a Faithful and prove Rachel’s guilt.
Instead, both Harriet and another player left the castle without exposing Rachel, reinforcing the belief that Rachel is a Faithful.

Ellie is voted out in The Traitors
Rachel later admitted she had no real plan that day, despite claiming at breakfast that she knew who a Traitor was. She described it as a “white lie”, saying she wanted to observe behavioural changes. She then accused Ellie of acting differently, which swayed the group.
Ellie broke down in tears, trying to explain her game as a Faithful. In the end, Faraaz, Stephen, Jade and Rachel voted for Ellie. Roxy voted James, Ellie and Matthew voted Jade, while James and Jack wrote Matthew’s name.
Before leaving, Ellie revealed her relationship with Ross and confirmed she too was a Faithful – another dramatic exit that leaves Stephen and Rachel still very much in control.
Traitors fans have accused show bosses of cooking up an “agenda” with Rachel Duffy and “pulling strings” to keep her in the castle.
Claims that the episodes are “scripted” come as viewers scratch their heads over how Rachel keeps escaping banishment.
The Traitor has been at the heart of almost every major clash in recent instalments.
Yet she just keeps slipping through the net.
Traitors fans have accused the BBC of ‘having an agenda’ with Rachel Duffy (Credit: BBC)
Rachel has been directly challenged by both Harriet Tyce and Fiona Hughes, with accusations made loudly and publicly.
Yet, somehow, her name keeps missing from the chalkboards.
That confusion reached new levels after the latest Round Table, where Rachel did not receive a single vote.
As a result, some fans are now questioning whether production has a hand in how events are unfolding.
A few have even suggested the BBC has an “agenda”, claiming bosses want Rachel to mirror the journey of series two winner and vocal show supporter Harry Clark.
Traitors fans accuse BBC of ‘scripting show’
The debate has been playing out online, with X users sharing their disbelief during and after Thursday night’s episode.
One viewer wrote: “Not a single vote for Rachel after all this hysteria. Is it that they are dumb or is it production?”
Another replied: “I do think it is scripted as too many things are obvious yet not being said.” A third added: “Surely it’s production. She didn’t even get a mention.”
A fourth claimed: “Prod agenda is for her to be the new Harry.”
Still, not everyone agrees with the theory.
“I think production. But she’s also very popular with the group and she does a good job at talking like a Faithful,” one fan said.
Another commented: “I think Fiona and Harriet going for her in a deranged manner was production pulling strings. But I genuinely think they’re all clues.”
Others shut the idea down entirely, with one writing: “Don’t disrespect production like that. This lot are just bottom set!”
Another added: “Dumbest bunch of Faithfuls EVER. Roxy is also just an absolute whopper. Does my head in.”
ED! has contacted the BBC for comment.

Who will Rachel and Stephen murder next?
Rachel has barely left the spotlight since last week, with drama following her at every turn inside the castle.
The mum-of-three first came under fire when fellow Traitor, Fiona Hughes, acting as the Secret Traitor, accused her outright in front of the group.
Despite the explosive moment, Rachel managed to flip the situation and Fiona was the one banished.
History then appeared to repeat itself with crime writer Harriet Tyce.
The Night Manager series 2 has just delivered its most jaw-dropping moment so far – because at the end of episode 3, Richard Roper turned out to be very much alive. Yes, you did read that correctly.
Jonathan Pine was left reeling as he clocked a secret meeting between Teddy Dos Santos and his dear dad Roper. Seeing those two dangerous men together was enough to send a chill down anyone’s spine…
Once the initial shock wore off, the questions came thick and fast. How can Roper possibly be breathing after we watched his ‘corpse’ laid out in episode 1? Viewers may feel a little cheated – but spare a thought for Jonathan, who clearly had his entire world turned upside down.
Here’s everything we know so far about Richard Roper’s dramatic return, the leading theories about how he pulled it off, and what it could mean for Jonathan Pine in the future.
***Warning: spoilers for The Night Manager series 2 episode 3 ahead***
Richard Roper’s ‘dead’ body being identified in The Night Manager episode 1 (Credit: BBC)
Who is Richard Roper in The Night Manager?
Hugh Laurie’s Richard ‘Dickie’ Onslow Roper – aka “the worst man in the world” – was a smiling assassin. Beneath the charming facade and the expensive suits, he was an arms dealer utterly devoid of conscience. His motivations were simple: power and profit. The only crack in the armour seemed to be his son Daniel.
Series 2 has subsequently revealed another son from a different chapter of Roper’s life. Teddy Dos Santos was born from a relationship with a Mexican woman during Roper’s youth.
Back in series 1, former soldier turned hotel manager Jonathan Pine was recruited by British intelligence to infiltrate Roper’s operation. Against the odds, Pine helped dismantle the arms dealer’s empire.
But Roper never made it to justice. After Operation Limpit officers arrested him, furious Syrian criminals took matters into their own hands, hijacking the police van and driving off into the desert. Watching it disappear, Angela Burr summed it up perfectly: “He deserved it.”
Is Richard Roper dead?
Fast forward four years to The Night Manager episode 1, and viewers watched Jonathan Pine and Angela Burr in Syria identifying what they were told was Richard Roper’s body. We were informed he’d been executed – though, tellingly, no visible injuries were shown.
Despite Hugh Laurie’s brief appearance as the lifeless Roper, most viewers assumed that was the end of the character. Episode 3 proved just how wrong we were.
Richard Roper is clearly not dead, as we learnt in the closing minutes of The Night Manager episode 3.

Is Gilberto Hanson really Richard Roper?
In episode 3, Jonathan Pine edged closer to Teddy Dos Santos. It soon became clear that Teddy wasn’t acting alone, with whispers of another powerful figure lurking in the background: Gilberto Hanson.
Jonathan uncovered intelligence describing Hanson as a “terrifying local arms dealer whose reach extends to the heart of London’s intelligence community”. Digging deeper, Pine’s team discovered Hanson was officially listed as having died years earlier in a helicopter crash.
When Teddy arranged a meeting with Hanson, Jonathan followed – expecting answers. What he got instead was a huge bombshell, as well as a lot more questions. Posing as Gilberto Hanson was none other than Richard Roper, standing there in the flesh. Alive, with a rather glowing tan replacing his previously-seen deathly pallor.
The Night Manager episode 3: How can Richard Roper be alive?
One possibility is that Richard Roper bribed Syrian officials to convince British intelligence he was dead. Far more unsettling, though, is the idea that his “death” was a cover story approved by British intelligence themselves.
That second option feels worryingly plausible. It suggests Angela Burr may have deliberately misled Jonathan Pine. Painful as that idea is, episode 4 may finally give us some answers.
The series 2 trailer hints at a furious confrontation between Jonathan and Angela, in which Jonathan accuses Angela of lying to him. She replied: “I had no choice. This is our chance. To nail the London investors, the politicians, the whole rotten bunch.”
There’s also a chance Roper cut a deal with British intelligence to save himself from the Syrians. Could he now be helping to bring down his own son? It seems unlikely, but he is capable of betraying his own flesh and blood.

What else happened in The Night Manager episode 2?
We started to see cracks in Teddy’s smooth armour, with hints of mental health struggles. Daddy issues, perhaps?
We learnt that Teddy is “creating an army” – men for hire.
Viewers also discovered the shipment Pine was tracking was being used to smuggle under-the-counter weapons into Britain.
And the tension between Jonathan and Roxana ramped up, with a near-kiss derailed by Sally arriving with urgent news.
The Traitors 2026 stormed back onto BBC One tonight with a jaw-dropping opener that saw Claudia Winkleman unleash multiple twists within minutes – including the introduction of a Secret Traitor that has already turned the game on its head.
From the moment the first episode began, it was clear series four was not going to play by the old rules. Claudia wasted no time explaining the mystery behind this year’s red cloak, something that had kept fans guessing in the run-up to launch. By the end of the 65-minute episode, viewers had met all 22 contestants, discovered who the Traitors are – or at least some of them – and learned that one player has a very personal secret lurking inside the castle.
Here is everything we learned from episode one of The Traitors 2026, including the first clues about who the Secret Traitor could be.

The Traitors 2026: What the red cloak means
The episode opened with scenes of the 22 contestants making their way towards Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, all with their eyes firmly on a prize pot that could reach £120,000. But before any of them arrived, Claudia had already been at work.
Under the cover of darkness, 12 hours earlier, Claudia appeared alone in the castle holding a red cloak. Addressing the unseen wearer, she said: “You stand before the Traitors’ Turret. Before you take the Traitors oath, I imagine you are wondering why this cloak is a different colour. I can now reveal you have a special role. You are my Secret Traitor.”
Later, Claudia was shown speaking directly to the red cloak as it hung on a mannequin. She teased viewers: “Just when they think they know how to play, I am also going to pick a Secret Traitor. Nobody will know who that is – not the Traitors and not even you. It’s naughty, isn’t it?”
Who are The Traitors?
Once all the contestants had arrived, Claudia summoned them to the first Round Table of the series. Blindfolded, they waited as she walked around the group, tapping four players on the shoulder to mark them as Traitors. However, viewers only saw three of those faces revealed, with the fourth deliberately kept hidden.
The three confirmed Traitors for 2026 are Hugo, a 51-year-old barrister; Rachel, a 42-year-old head of communications and mum-of-three; and Stephen, a 32-year-old cyber security consultant.
Claudia later confirmed their identities in a piece to camera, adding: “But what you didn’t see is who I picked for my Secret Traitor. Do you know who it is? Could you guess?”
She also revealed there would be no murder on the first night.
The three named Traitors are Stephen, Rachel and Hugo (Credit: BBC)
The Traitors 2026: Who is the Faithful?
With Hugo, Rachel and Stephen exposed as Traitors, that leaves 19 other players in the game. Eighteen of them are Faithful, but one is secretly working alone as the Secret Traitor.
Episode one also delivered two unexpected personal revelations. Early on, it emerged that Netty and Ross already knew each other, having met around 10 to 15 years ago through a mutual friend in London. Netty was delighted by the reunion, admitting she loved seeing a familiar face, while Ross was far more cautious, describing the situation as “suss”.
The bigger bombshell came towards the end of the episode, when Roxy revealed in a confessional that Judy is actually her mum. The pair have chosen to keep their relationship secret from the rest of the group. Roxy explained that coming into the game as a known pair could look like an alliance, while Judy said she was enjoying the secret, especially as nobody else has a clue.

Who is the Secret Traitor?
Meanwhile, the three Traitors were left reeling when Claudia paid them an unexpected visit. She told Hugo, Rachel and Stephen: “I have a small confession. You are not the only Traitors in this castle. At the Round Table, I picked one other Traitor. The Secret Traitor. You still have power, but not quite as much.”
Claudia explained that the Secret Traitor would work alone and would not join them at night. Instead, they would control the murders by providing a shortlist each evening. The Traitors can only murder someone on that list. Crucially, the Secret Traitor knows the identities of all the Traitors, while none of them know who the Secret Traitor is.
Stephen quickly shared his suspicions, telling the others he had a feeling the Secret Traitor could be Judy. Rachel, however, made it clear she was furious about the loss of control and vowed to hunt the mystery player down.
The Traitors: Who gets murdered first?
The first mission of the series saw the contestants bank £10,000 for the prize pot, but it also put 10 players at risk. Sent to a lake filled with 100 floating wooden coffins, the group had 45 minutes to retrieve gold-marked coffins and place them into open graves, each worth £1,000. Every grave was labelled with a name, and those whose graves were filled became vulnerable to murder.
By the end of the task, Rachel, Fiona, James, Ross, Adam, Judy, Reece, Faraaz, Maz and Netty were all placed at risk. As a Traitor, Rachel was secretly safe, leaving the Secret Traitor to decide which names appeared on the murder shortlist.
Claudia later delivered that shortlist to the Traitors, confirming they could only choose between James, Netty or Maz. The episode ended on a tense cliffhanger, with the first murder of the series still to be revealed.

When is The Traitors on again?
The Traitors returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer tomorrow, Friday January 2, 2026, at 8pm for another 65-minute episode.
The launch continues with a three-night run, with episode three airing on Saturday January 3 at the earlier time of 7.45pm, running for a full 75 minutes.
Celebrity MasterChef 2025 has said goodbye to its latest budding chef – Liberty X star Michelle Heaton.
The singer was eliminated from the BBC series tonight after dishing up a curdled cream and “dry” shepherd’s pie.
Michelle seemed gutted to be out of the competition, especially as it meant she just missed out on a semi-final place.
Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas, Love Island star-turned-racing pundit Chris Hughes had author and broadcaster Dawn O’Porter had better luck. The trio have all made it through to the next stage.

But where did it all go wrong for Michelle? Her curdled cream can take a lot of the blame…
Celebrity MasterChef: Michelle Heaton leaves show
In tonight’s episode, Michelle and her competitors took part in the show’s pairs contest. Jamie and Chris were paired together, while Michelle went with Dawn.
Each pair was given a one recipe but weren’t able to see each other. Fans of MasterChef will know this is a real rest of their communication and natural cooking knowledge as they work to create two identical dishes.
Both pairs had to make a dessert, but one definitely worked better as a team. Jamie and Chris seemed to produce matching puds. But John described watching Michelle and Dawn cook together as “stressful”.
The girls forgot to add the frangipane to their Bakewell tarts… and Michelle was then criticised for putting too much in. Oops!
The next task was the big one, though. Michelle, Jamie, Dawn and Chris had to create a restaurant-worthy two-course meal for this week’s guest judges.
MasterChef 2024 winner, Strictly’s Vito Coppola, was one of them. He was joined by his fellow finalists, actress Rochenda Sandall and Gladiator Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.
So what did everyone cook?

Celebrity MasterChef: Vito Coppola returns
Michelle had hoped to impress Vito, Rochenda and Harry with a layered shepherd’s pie with a parmesan crust. Pudding was an apple and blackberry crumble served with mascarpone and cream.
Chris dished up prawn and chorizo for his starter. His main course was monkfish with red pesto and wrapped in parma ham, served with sweet potato puree.
Dawn, meanwhile, also chose to cook prawns for her first course. But in homage to her Scottish dad, she served them on a ‘tatty scone’, also known as a potato cake. She then served a “posh roast” of pork fillet.
Jamie picked scallops and black pudding for his starter. For his main course, he dished up a rack of lamb in honey and mint with hasselback potatoes and a red wine jus.
His dish went down well, with Rochenda saying she would “scoff” all of his scallops. Harry, meanwhile, said Jamie’s lamb was “cooked to perfection”. John said his jus was “close to professional”.
Tat’s a hit
Vito said he wanted “more and more” tatty scones after trying Dawn’s first course. Her main also received a big thumbs up, with Grace saying it was “bang on”.
Chris’ prawn starter was a bit of a letdown, as it was over-seasoned. John liked his monkfish, but said he “wasn’t a fan” of his puree.
Unfortunately, Rochenda said Michelle’s shepherd’s pie was “dry” and Harry said her broccoli was “undercooked”. John said: “There’s sweet carrots and sweet potatoes but, quite honestly, it doesn’t taste like a lot.”
Michelle’s crumble didn’t get rave reviews, either. Her mascarpone and cream curdled. Grace also described her fruit as “over-stewed”, adding: “I don’t think that’s what she was looking for.”
It was no surprise when John and Grace booted her out. Grace said to Michelle: “It breaks my heart to send you home, you tried to hard.”

When is Celebrity MasterChef on next?
Jamie, Chris and Dawn are now through to the semi-finals. They join Antony Costa, Ginger Johnson and Katie McGlynn from last Celebrity MasterChef week’s heat.
The show returns at 8pm on BBC One on Tuesday December 2, 202, but not for the semis. Next week sees the third set of budding 2025 chefs enter the kitchen for the first time.
They are singer Alfie Boe, TV presenter Noreen Khan, rugby star Alun Wyn Jones, author Jodie Ounsley and TV personality, Ashley Cain.
Shetland series 10 continued on BBC One this week, and episode 2 delivered another round of twists, secrets and simmering tension in Lunniswick.
The episode picked up from last week’s shocking cliffhanger, when Lana Muir set fire to Eadie Tulloch’s house. In Wednesday’s instalment (November 12), DI Ruth Calder and DI Tosh got to work unravelling her motives – and what she might be hiding.
Lana’s decision not only wiped out crucial evidence linked to Eadie’s murder but also hinted that she knew far more about who wanted the elderly woman dead.
Here’s a full recap of Shetland series 10 episode 2 – including the five biggest revelations that kept viewers guessing.
***Warning: spoilers from Shetland series 10 episode 2 ahead***

Shetland series 10 episode 2 recap: Why did Lana set fire to Eadie’s house?
At the beginning of the episode, Calder and Tosh took Lana Muir in for questioning after she set fire to Eadie’s house. We’ve been told that Lana is suffering from dementia, but perhaps she isn’t quite as confused as we’ve been led to believe…
Did she, in fact, know what she was doing? During questioning, Lana described Eadie as a “force of nature”, and admitted they’d been friends before she died.
But she later said something much more revealing. Talking about Eadie’s death, Lana told the detectives: “You reap what you sow. She was always nosing into other people’s business.”
When Calder and Tosh pressed Lana further, asking if Eadie had ever “hurt someone”, Lana said: “That’s all behind us now. Some things are best left to lie.”
However, “vulnerable adult” Lana soon became distressed. This led to Procurator Fiscal Matt Blake (Samuel Anderson in the cast) warning the detectives that they couldn’t question her again.
So did Eadie have enemies, and was Lana one of them? We later found out that Lana and Eadie had been “close” friends – “kin not blood”. But something – or someone in this case – came between them. More on that below.
What happened to Eadie’s son Craig?
Eadie’s son – and Ed’s brother – Craig died in the infamous storm that devastated Lunniswick in the early 2000s. It killed several locals Lana and Arthur’s son Ally, too.
Both Craig and Ally “died young” during the storm while working on a fishing boat called The Linty. The boat sank during the turbulence.
Lana was a “positive and warm person” until the tragic loss of her son over two decades ago. The tragedy left Lana overwhelmed with grief.
At this stage, it’s unclear if the storm has anything to do with Eadie’s death. However it was the reason Eadie and her son Ed were estranged. He told Ashley: “It’s what started the rift between me and mum. I could never live up to Craig.”
Stevie and Amy Shannon are suspects (Credit: BBC)
Who are Amy and Stevie Shannon in Shetland series 10?
Sergeant Billy McCabe’s wife Morag used to work with the victim, Eadie Tulloch, in Shetland social services. And she pointed Tosh to a possible person to interest in Eadie’s death – a person called Amy Shannon.
Amy Shannon was an old case of Eadie’s. Eadie had recommended that Amy and her sister Stevie be removed from their birth mum who, according to the files, was neglectful. Amy is now suing social services. Morag described Amy as “angry” and “looking for someone to blame”. But enough to commit murder?
Amy was adopted in Shetland, and became a teacher. She now has a flat in Lerwick with a partner, and their child. Her sister Stevie ended up on the mainland and was bought up in Aberdeen. The sisters didn’t see each other for years. Long story short, as a social worker, Eadie’s work often made her unpopular…
When Tosh visited Amy and her sister Stevie, Amy told her the reason for their complaint. She said: “A few months after we were removed, our mum died, and they split us up. Stevie’s been through four different foster families, and two children’s homes.”
Tosh “got a weird vibe from Stevie” and so, quite frankly, did we. We later discovered that Stevie had a bit of a “disturbing” history… There were concerns that she’d been “manipulating other children” in her care homes, turning them against once another, and “encouraging them to run away with her”.
In the episode, someone called social services on Amy Shannon and her husband – but who?
Shetland series 10 episode 2 recap: Arthur became a new suspect
Arthur became prime suspect in episode 2 of Shetland series 10. When Tosh and Calder finally got to interview Lana again, she became agitated at her husband Arthur. She said: “I know what happened to Eadie. It was terrible what Arthur did. You’ve got a temper on you Arthur.”
Did Arthur kill Eadie and Lana burnt her house down to cover his tracks? Turns out that Arthur and Eadie had had an affair, but he “ended it for good” as soon as Lana was diagnosed with dementia “five years back”.
Another vital piece of information he’d kept from the police was that he visited Eadie on the night she died. He’d dropped around some food and whisky and they “drank, ate, and chatted”. However he insisted they had “just the one dram”, but the quantity found in her stomach contradicted that.
The autopsy showed that Eadie had a “skinful” of whisky in her belly when she died and was likely drunk, which explained why she hadn’t fought back. Even weirder when you consider that Eadie didn’t drink. According to Colin Waite anyway. As Di Ruth Calder put it: “Our 76-year-old victim was paralytic at the time of her murder.”
However, Arthur insisted that when he’d left her, Eadie was fine. He had gone home and spent the rest of the evening with his wife and family.
Tosh believed the affair, while reason enough for Lana to set Eadie’s house on fire, wasn’t a “motive”, but more like “a defence”. They let Arthur go – for now.

Shetland series 10 episode 2 recap: What is Hayley’s secret?
Hayley was clearly hiding a secret in episode 2 of Shetland series 1o. Chris accused her of “sneaking around” and constantly “checking her phone”. Not only that we also found our she had a secret phone. While she insisted it was because she runs two restaurants, the truth came out eventually.
In fact, Hayley admitted she was in “deep shit”. She said: “That’s why I bought us here. The restaurant’s got into debt and I’ve done something stupid. Now I have to do exactly what I’m told or we’re in danger. All of us.”
Hayley Burnett had a huge bag full of heroin, which she had to hand over to a dealer. After that, they’d be “free”. Allegedly. Is any of this related to Eadie’s murder or just a side-plot? All will be revealed in the coming episodes.
Arthur and Eadie’s affair. It turns out Arthur and Eadie were more than just old friends. He even admitted to visiting her on the night she died, raising serious questions about what really happened before the blaze.
Eadie’s whisky mystery. When Eadie’s autopsy revealed high levels of whisky in her system, Ruth and Tosh were left wondering why she suddenly started drinking after Arthur left.
Hayley’s dangerous deal. Hayley Burnett’s presence in Shetland took a dark turn when it emerged she’d brought a bag full of heroin to the island. She’s being blackmailed by ruthless moneylenders she once borrowed from – and it’s clear they’ll stop at nothing.
A long-standing grudge. Amy and Stevie Shannon’s history with social worker Eadie was far from friendly. The pair clearly held a grudge, putting them firmly in the frame for having a motive.
A tragic shared past. In a heartbreaking twist, both Lana and Eadie lost sons in the devastating storm of the early 2000s. The question now is whether that shared tragedy has anything to do with Eadie’s shocking death.
Shetland episode 3 airs on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
The Night Manager made a huge impact when it landed on BBC One in 2016 – yes, nine years ago! – so it’s very exciting to share the news it’s coming back any day now with a series 2.
Like Happy Valley, Line of Duty, The White Lotus and Broadchurch, The Night Manager was THE television show everyone was talking about that year. But, no offence to the others, it had a touch of class.
That was largely down to the impeccable, A-list heavy cast, led by Marvel antihero Tom Hiddleston as former British intelligence operative, Jonathan Pine.
So what do we know about The Night Manager series 2? Here’s everything BBC and Prime Video have revealed so far, including plot, start date, cast, and location.

Is there a series 2 of The Night Manager?
Series 2 of The Night Manager is coming soon, nine years after the ridiculously successful series 1 of the BBC One drama. The BBC and Prime Video have now unveiled the first-look images for the much-anticipated new episodes. And it looks epic!
Series 1 aired in 2016, and its explosive finale was watched by more than 10 million viewers in the UK alone.
Now, the central cast return, with Loki legend Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as former British intelligence operative, Jonathan Pine.
The Night Manager series two is created and executive produced by David Farr, based on the characters created by John le Carré.
Every single person in The Night Manager series 2 is sexy as hell – FACT! (Credit: The Ink Factory/BBC/Amazon/Des Willie)
What’s the plot?
The upcoming series 2 of The Night Manager “expands the story beyond the source material of the titular novel for the first time”.
While series 1 stayed faithful to the John le Carré novel of the same name, which was published in 1993, series 2 moves the plot along.
We catch up with Jonathan Pine who is now living as Alex Goodwin in London. Alex is a low-level MI6 officer running a quiet surveillance unit in London… His life is now comfortingly uneventful and he believes he’s “buried his past”.
However, one night, a chance sighting of an old Roper mercenary prompts a call to action. It leads Pine to a violent encounter with a new player: Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos.
The synopsis tells us: “On this perilous new journey, Pine meets Roxana Bolaños, a businesswoman who reluctantly helps him infiltrate Teddy’s Colombian arms operation. Once in Colombia, Pine is plunged deep into a deadly plot involving arms and training of a guerrilla army.
“As allegiances splinter, Pine races to expose a conspiracy designed to destabilise a nation. And with betrayal at every turn, he must decide whose trust he needs to earn and how far he’s willing to go before it’s too late.”
Indira Varma joins the cast as Mayra in The Night Manager series 2 (Credit: The Ink Factory/BBC/Amazon/Des Willie)
Who is in the cast?
The Night Manager wouldn’t be the same without the cool Tom Hiddleston as cool as a cucumber Jonathan Pine. Of course, Marvel fans will know Tom as Thor’s little bro Loki, but he’s famous for his multiple leading roles in film, theatre, and TV. Other highlights include The Essex Serpent, Kong: Skull Island, and The Life of Chuck.
It was The Night Manager series 1 that really helped make the actor into the global star he is now.
Also set to return are National Treasure Olivia Colman as Angela Burr. She’s known for being in everything brilliant, including Fleabag, Peep Show, The Crown, Broadchurch, and The Bear. We could go on, but we’d get blisters on our fingers.
Sex Education’s Alistair Petrie reprises his role as Sandy Langbourne, opposite The Great’s Douglas Hodge as Rex Mayhew, Traces’ Michael Nardone as Frisky, and A Quiet Place’s Noah Jupe as Daniel Roper. Sadly, early reports suggest that Hugh Laurie will not be returning as Richard Roper.
Of course, in series 1, Richard Roper was the main antagonist. He was arrested by Egyptian police after his arms deal was sabotaged by Jonathan Pine. Pine had swapped his weapons for fake ones…. Other main characters like Elizabeth Debicki’s Jed and Tom Hollander’s Lance met grisly ends.
Series two will also incude several new cast members. These include:
Mexican Diego Calva – known for Narcos: Mexico – as Teddy.
Emmy Award nominee and star of Daisy Jones & The Six Camila Morrone as Roxana.

Where was The Night Manager filmed?
The new series of The Night Manager was filmed across various glamorous locations in the UK, Spain, Colombia and France.
The stunning locations were one part of the appeal of series 1. The acclaimed first series was nominated for more than 30 awards and won multiple BAFTAs, Emmy Awards, and Golden Globes – including Best Actor for Tom Hiddleston.
Commissioned by the BBC, in was one of 2016’s most-watched TV shows in the UK.
When is the start date? How many episodes?
The Night Manager series 2 will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK, and on Prime Video later this year.
Although the Beeb and Prime Video have not yet confirmed an exact date, we have a feeling it will be sooner rather than later.
It will be six episodes of one hour each, and series 1 is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
Beyond Paradise series 2 has come to a rather bittersweet end, leaving fans wondering about a possible series 3.
With Death in Paradise missing a lead detective, and another spin-off series currently in production, the Paraverse (Paradise universe) is in a state of flux.
The series finale of Beyond Paradise was a happy one, even though Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd called off their wedding. So will the pair ever get hitched? And will there be a series 3?
Here’s everything you need to know about a possible series 3 of Beyond Paradise.
***Warning: spoilers from episode 6 of Beyond Paradise series 2 ahead***
Will Humphrey and Martha ever get married? (Credit: Red Planet Pictures/Joss Barratt)
What happened in the Beyond Paradise series 2 finale?
In the Beyond Paradise series 2 finale, Humphrey and Martha’s wedding day finally arrived… However, the pair did NOT go ahead with the wedding.
Martha wore a beautiful white lace and broderie anglaise wedding dress, while Humphrey looked dapper in a navy suit and burgundy tie. Anne had organised a lavish affair, but her plans were far grander than anything the bride or groom actually wanted.
Anne had clearly become TOO invested in their fairy-tale ceremony, following her own recent betrayal (boo, hiss, Richard!). In an emotional twist, Anne cancelled the wedding, realising that her daughter and future son-in-law didn’t want such a fuss.
In the end, Martha and Humphrey agreed NOT to get married on that day. However, they vowed to do so in the future, and threw a not-getting-married party on the beach.
Elsewhere, Humphrey (Kris Marshall) and Martha got closer to fostering a child, the result of the police station house review was revealed, and Kelby and CS Charlie Woods shared a kiss on the beach!
Will there be a series 3 of Beyond Paradise?
BBC One has not yet confirmed a series 3 of Beyond Paradise. But surely it’s a no-brainer. Series 2 ended with future seasons very much in mind – the impending fostering journey of Martha and Humphrey, not to mention the mounting crimes occurring in the fictional Devonshire town of Shipton Abbott.
There’s no reason why Beyond Paradise can’t run for years if the public still has an appetite for it.
In a recent interview, Zahra Ahmadi shared an update about possible future series. Zahra, who plays DS Esther Williams, told HELLO!: “We don’t know [about series 3] yet but we’ve certainly had conversations about it with each other. That’s a big hope, for me certainly, and I think we all share that.”
Her co-star Felicity Montagu – aka Margo Martins – added: “I would love to, but we’ll just have to see. I don’t think any of us know yet.”

Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise spin-off
While there’s no news about Beyond Paradise series 3 just yet, the BBC has confirmed a Paraverse spin-off.
Filming has started on the next spin-off, which is set in Australia. Return to Paradise will star Anna Samson as DI Mackenzie Clarke – the franchise’s first female lead detective.
Home and Away actress Anna Samson will portray Mackenzie Clarke, a disgraced London Met officer who is forced to return home to Dolphin Cove, Australia, when she’s accused of tampering with evidence.
Dolphin Cove is the last place Mackenzie wants to be – having left her ex-fiancé Glenn (Tai Hara) at the altar there six years ago. And, viewers will soon discover, that wherever Mackenzie goes, trouble follows… Soon she finds herself working for Dolphin Cove’s police force.
As well as Anna Samson and Tai Hara, Return to Paradise will also star Ted Lasso actor Lloyd Griffith.
Call the Midwife fans were left ‘crying ugly tears’ after the series 13 finale finally revealed Miss Higgins’ back story.
In episode 8, which went out on Sunday, March 03, 2024, the popular character met her long lost son – but tragically, the reunion was all-too brief.
Viewers learnt to their astonishment that super-efficient Miss Higgins had a secret son called Victor. However, he arrived in Poplar with a secret of his own. He was very ill. Heartbreakingly, he died shortly after their meeting.
Scottish actress Georgie Glen, 67, has played Miss Millicent Higgins in Call the Midwife ever since 2018, when she joined during series 8. And, after the emotional storyline, fans have praised her for bringing them to tears.
Here’s everything you need to know…

Does Miss Higgins have a son in Call the Midwife?
Call the Midwife fans were shocked to discover that surgery receptionist Miss Millicent Higgins had given birth to a secret son when she was younger and living in India.
At 21, she was working at a library, and boarding with a widowed friend of her parents in Shimla. While there she met Krishnan Choudhary, an Indian tutor, and they fell in love. Of course, at the time, it was forbidden for white people to mingle with Indian people.
When Miss Higgins’ son was born, her landlady made the necessary arrangements and he was sent to live with another family. John became Victor, and Millicent never saw Krishnan again.
In the Call the Midwife series 13 finale, Victor’s wife unexpectedly turned up at Miss Higgins’ front door. Victor was working for the Indian civil service, and had his own son called Harry.
Tragically, Victor was ill with kidney disease. In moving scenes, Victor died with his mum, Miss Higgins, by his side. Viewers sobbed as Miss Higgins said: “In the end, I was there for his first breath, and his last.”
Fans ‘wrecked’ by Miss Higgins’ secret in Call the Midwife series 13 finale
BBC One viewers were in bits over the bittersweet episode. Although Miss Higgins had been reunited with her son, their time together was cut tragically short.
One fan said: “This whole episode has had me ugly crying This is one of the best shows on television #CallTheMidwife.”
Another wrote: “In the end, I was there for his first breath, and his last.’ Darn writers of this making me cry #CallTheMidwife.”
A third added: “‘In the end, I was there for his first breath, and his last.’ Such a fantastic episode really giving depth to the character of Miss Higgins and revealing her back story. I love the way her friendship with Phyllis has evolved this series #CallTheMidwife.”
“Just over here crying at the season finale of #CallTheMidwife, as you do,” sobbed another, while one more typed: “If there is one show on TV that gets the tears flowing it’s #CallTheMidwife. Wrecks me every time but the final of this season was beautiful.”

What else happened in series finale?
As well as Miss Higgins’ moving storyline, viewers saw Trixie make a huge decision about her future with Matthew. During a sweet phone conversation, Trixie told Matthew (Olly Rix) that she WOULD be joining him in New York in the future.
Fans of the the show also discovered that Joyce was married to Sylvester (Benjamin Cawley) – and it was not a marriage made in heaven. Far from it, in fact. We learnt that he was abusive. However, with the help of her Poplar friends, Joyce stood up to him at last. She also revealed that her real name was Claudine.
In other scenes, May was adopted, and Julienne won Mother of the Year.
The Apprentice Over-Lord Alan Sugar pointed his finger again tonight, firing the latest failed candidate in series 18 – so who left The Apprentice tonight?
In episode 2 of the 12-parter (Thursday, February 8, 2024), Big Al tasked the remaining 17 entrepreneurs to manufacture miniature cheesecakes to sell to the public and to a corporate client.
With aides Karren Brady and Tim Campbell watching on with a critical eye and a raised eyebrow, the teams – split into male and female at this stage – headed to the kitchen to create a sweet treat… And while both teams made mistakes, it was the boys who lost one of their own in the boardroom.
So who got fired and why? Here’s everything you need to know!
***Warning: spoilers from The Apprentice episode 2 ahead***

What happened in The Apprentice series 18 episode 2?
In episode 2 of The Apprentice series 18, the candidates received a brutal 4am call from one of Lord Sugar’s minions telling them to meet at the Royal Exchange, London.
Once there, Lord Sugar informed them their task was to manufacture miniature cheesecakes to sell to the public and to a corporate client. Of course, as per usual, the team with the most profit at the end would win.
The teams had two days to design and produce one cheesecake for their corporate client, and another for the general public. The girls seemed reluctant to step forward as team lader, with Sam Saadet declaring: “I have zero experience of food.” Eh? What do you eat then?
Meanwhile, Maura Rath claimed to have “made cheesecakes” before. However, it was Foluso Falade who stepped up as team leader for the girls due to her “attention to detail”.
They decide to sell their product in Greenwich market. This despite it being far away from the kitchen where the cheesecakes would be produced. But, in the end, this didn’t hinder them.
The team appointed Rachel Woolford as sub-team leader, despite barely saying a word in episode 1. The girls decided to make a mango mojito – or mo-heet-ooo if you’re Sam – for the public. And they pitched their high end cheesecake to corporate client London Dungeon for £13.80 per cake. Kudos to Flo who wasn’t going to reduce that price for anyone, and ultimately helped the girls get the win.
Special mention to Foluso for swallowing a mouthful of truffle dust thinking it was chocolate. And to Raj brazenly asking for 50p tips on her sales. Shameless.
Who left The Apprentice tonight after Phil led the boys in the cheesecake challenge?
Meanwhile, Phil Turner was team leader for the boys, with Paul B as sub-team leader – both “pie men” and both in the food industry. Although, on paper, they should have excelled in this task, the results were shambolic.
In the kitchen, the men had no attention to detail, and the cheesecake base looked more like a crumble. Not to mention Phil’s idea to put avocado in the centre of his dragonfruit and apricot cheesecake.
Their corporate client was Innocent drinks – a company firmly focused on fruit and veg. But Paul B, proving himself to be the blundering fool we thought he was in episode 1, insisted on pushing a chocolate cheesecake. His inability to read the room was, frankly, embarrassing.
Although Phil made some mistakes with his ingredients, we couldn’t help but feel the egos in the team hindered his success. Although having priced his cheesecakes at a woefully low £6.75 per cake, it was unsurprising when the team made less profits.
His pricing structure was all over the place, and the cheesecakes “looked like something a primary school could have made”. Ouch.
Of course, when Phil looked to the camera to say he was “feeling confident about our chances of success” his fate was sealed….
Who left The Apprentice tonight? Lord Alan Sugar fired one of the cast of 2024 (Credit: BBC)
Who left The Apprentice tonight? Who got fired?
Ultimately, the girls smashed it.
The boys spent £422.15, sold £908, and made a profit of £485.85. Meanwhile, the girls spent £408.42, sold £1143, and made a profit of £734.58.
While the girls got to enjoy some high-end luxury desserts, the boys dragged their sorry arses to the Bridge Café. In the end, Phil decided to bring back Paul B and Asif Munaf, who Lord Sugar referred to as “an acquired taste”. Well, that’s one way of putting it!
All three men deserved to be in the boardroom at the end. Asif appeared to do nothing throughout the task, Phil priced the cheesecakes too low, while Paul insulted the corporate clients by ignoring their love of fruit and veg.
Asif boldly told Lord Sugar both Pie Men should be fired, while Phil laid the blame at Paul’s feet, and Paul blamed Asif.

Lord Alan Sugar fired Paul Bowen in The Apprentice episode 2
Lord Sugar subsequently fired redhead Paul Bowen. He told him: “Paul, I admire you for admitting your mistakes, but there were simply too many mistakes and so it is with regret Paul, you’re fired.”
Paul says in the taxi: “The biggest regret is obviously banging on about chocolate but, hey, it’s time to go back and make some pies.”
Dragons’ Den series 21 continues with another guest Dragon, but will entrepreneur Emma Grede be persuaded to invest in any of the pitches in episode 6?
London-born Emma is the CEO behind Good American and founding partner of SKIMS (with Kim Kardashian). She joins the fearsome five: Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies and Steven Bartlett.
Mother-of-four Emma insists she “100% manifested” becoming a Dragon. She believes taking part in the show is about “paying it forward”.
In tonight’s episode (Thursday, February 08, 2024), we met friends-turned-business partners who are hungry for an investment in their innovative frozen food business.
Meanwhile, a Hertfordshire-based entrepreneur is hoping to grow her hair care business, and an inventor is on a mission to take the stigma out of asthma with his inhaler accessory. Meanwhile, an Irish husband and wife duo want to inspire the nation to achieve their goals with their range of wellness products and journals.
Here’s everything you need to know about the pitches which feature on Dragons’ Den series 21 episode 6… But what causes Steven Bartlett’s fellow Dragons to call him “soft”.

Dragons’ Den series 21 episode 6 pitches: Ori Lifestyle afro hair products
First up is Hertfordshire-based entrepreneur Titi Belo (no sniggering at the back please) who is hoping to grow her premium Afro haircare business.
The 45-year-old is the founder of Ori Lifestyle, a haircare and education brand. She started the brand after suffering significant hair loss as a result of her reliance on weaves, extensions, and braids. The products are currently stocked in Selfridges online, and Harrods.
Products include her DÚDÚ Clarifying & Exfoliating Shampoo, which costs £15 for 200ml, and her ÒDODO Leave-In Conditioner which is £32 for 2ooml.
Titiolami Bello, Titi for short, claims she uses the best of science and nature to design products that meet your hair’s needs. Ori Lifestyle was founded to encourage women to love and enjoy their hair. Founder Titi decided to study healthy hair care practices which transformed her hair, and her daughter’s hair. She also offers hair coaching services.
Guest Dragon Emma Grede admits Titi has chosen a lucrative business, while Deborah Meaden questions her margins (figures not hair). Will anybody invest in her products?
STOCKED frozen food
Childhood friends-turned-business partners Sam and Charlie, both from London, are hungry for investment in their innovative frozen food business.
Sam Moss, 29, and Charlie Gilpin, 30, pitch their nutritious, chef-cooked, award-winning meals STOCKED. The meals are frozen into space-saving, personally-portioned Blocks.
STOCKED Blocks are designed to give you a huge head-start in the kitchen, so you can make the meals you love in way less time. Sam and Charlie are on a mission to make the most useful, delicious and nourishing food you can have in your freezer. They freeze an array of delicious meals into handy, easily stored little Blocks that take less than five minutes to heat up and transform back into fresh and tasty meals.
Each pack of Stocked contains eight Blocks, enough to make 2 to 4 meals. You simply heat and eat them as they are or use them as building Blocks for an endless variety of meals.
Meals include Chicken Tinga, Harissa Jackfruit or Pork Rendang, or specials like Jalfrezi, Chick’n’Satay or Tarragon Chicken. Half of their products are plant based, and they also sell new kid-friendly Blocks.
Orders of STOCKED start at £44.00 for four packs of eight Blocks, can be ordered on subscription, which includes courier delivery.
While Peter Jones tell them “they may as well have stayed in bed”, Sara Davies says it’s the product she needs in her busy life.

Dragons’ Den series 21 episode 6 pitches: The Inhaler Tailor
Inventor Will, 39, from York is on a mission to take the stigma out of asthma with his inhaler accessory. He pitches Inhaler Tailor, a novel way of transforming asthma inhalers for kids.
His cases fit the 5 common inhaler types. The cases are really easy to put on and they’re completely reusable. When you’ve finished your inhaler simply swap the case to your new one.
You can then continue to use your inhaler exactly as before and there is no impact on using your inhaler with a spacer. All cases are handmade in York, using a state of the art fabric made from plant fibre. It has the feel and durability of leather but is environmentally friendly and 100% animal free.
Inhaler cases cost £12.74 per item. Can Will make artistic inhalers attractive to the Dragons? Will asthma sufferer Deborah Meaden see the appeal?
The Head Plan journals
Irish duo Denise, 38, and Ciaran, 44, want to inspire the nation to achieve their goals with their range of wellness products and journals.
The married couple – who only had a baby weeks before their appearance – pitch their business, which they believe “can be the Nike of mental wellness”.
Basically, they sell journals, water bottles, pads, tote bags, pens and cards. A Head Plan journal costs £30 and comes in seven colours, while a gratitude journal costs £22.
The Head Plan aims to help others “become the best version of themselves”. Qualified life coach Denise is passionate about helping people achieve their life goals, through the power of journaling and visualisation. She believes that writing down your goals, practicing gratitude, and becoming conscious of your priorities is truly transformative.
As well as its products, The Head Plan is a “movement”. Ciaran admits his Leukemia diagnosis prompted his commitment to the business. He even admits they used to watch Dragons’ Den while he was in hospital. But will the Dragons invest?
Silent Witness fans may be feeling a tad murderous this week, as their favourite forensic crime series has been pulled from its usual spot yet again – so why isn’t it on tonight?
Series 27 of TV’s longest-running show has been at the mercy of annoying schedule changes, leaving viewers hanging for the next instalment…
This week is no exception as the second part of Death by a Thousand Hits has been replaced in its usual Tuesday night slot.
So why isn’t Silent Witness on tonight? And when will episode 8 be on? Here’s everything you need to know about the frustrating disrupted schedule…

Why isn’t Silent Witness on tonight?
Fans of the long-running forensic drama series will know that it always airs on a Monday and Tuesday throughout January and into February. The latest season began on January 08, with actor John Hannah making a guest appearance.
Episodes 3 and 4 were due to follow on Monday, January 15, and Tuesday, January 16, 2024. However, the second instalment did not air.
Instead, BBC One showed Match of the Day Live: The FA Cup, which took over the whole evening. The channel then chose to belatedly show the second part of the two-hander, entitled Grievance Culture, a week later. It aired on Monday, January 22, 2024.
That’s a week between episode 3 and episode 4. However, the BBC did make Grievance Culture part 2 available to watch on BBC iPlayer for those who weren’t prepared to wait.
Now, football has once again messed with the running of Silent Witness series 27. Episode 7 – the first of a two-hander entitled Death by a Thousand Hits – aired as usual on Monday, February 5, 2024.
However, fans tuning in for the second part on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 will be disappointed. Instead they’ll find football coverage. From 7.30pm that night, BBC One is showing Match of the Day Live: The FA Cup between Plymouth Argyle, and Leeds.
The teams are competing in the fourth-round replay at Home Park, for the right to face Chelsea or Aston Villa in round five.
When is episode 8 of Silent Witness Death by a Thousand Hits on?
Silent Witness series 27 episode 8 – the second part of the two-hander Death by a Thousand Hits – will air on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 9pm on BBC One.
That’s if you haven’t already watched it on BBC iPlayer. The episodes guest star Julie Graham and Sean Pertwee.
This replaces episode 2 of Ambulance, which started the week before. Instead, episode 2 of the BAFTA award-winning series is set to air on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
Episodes 9 and 10 of Silent Witness, entitled Kings Cross, are expected to air as usual on Monday, February 12, and Tuesday, February 13, 2024 . That will conclude series 27 later than usual, thanks to the schedule bumps.

What’s the plot of Death by a Thousand Hits?
The two-parter Death by a Thousand Hits is especially poignant, as the team investigate the death of a Burmese man found on an abandoned beach.
As his young pregnant wife desperately hopes he is still alive, Nikki and Jack find themselves in uncharted territory… They must attempt to piece together the perplexing crime scene that poses more questions than it answers.
Episode 7 saw both Julie Graham’s character Elinor Shaw AND Sean Pertwee‘s DI John Flynn behaving suspiciously – but why? Viewers will find out the truth at last in episode 8.
Silent Witness episode 8 – Death by a Thousand Hits Part II – airs on Wednesday, February 07, 2024 at 9pm on BBC One. It is available to watch on BBC iPlayer now.

Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden is known for being an exceptional businesswoman, but her husband handles all the chores.
The star made a fortune with family holiday business Weststar Holidays, where she also met her husband. In 2024, they are still happily together, but Deborah’s definitely not in charge of cooking or cleaning in their Somerset home.
Here’s everything you need to know about Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden‘s prolific career and her relationship with her husband.

Who is Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden?
Deborah Meaden is a British businesswoman and investor on BBC One‘s Dragons’ Den.
She ran a multi-million-pound family holiday business, before completing a management buyout.
She’s best known for her appearances on the BBC business programme Dragons’ Den.
Super-savvy Deborah joined the show in August 2006, taking over from Rachel Elnaugh in the third series.
On Twitter, Deborah describes herself as “star of Dragons’ Den, Strictly Come Dancing contestant and Murder in Successville sidekick, and just a bit of business… actually quite a lot”.
She’s known for championing sustainability, and is an outspoken animal lover and vegan.
How old is Deborah Meaden?
Deborah Sonia Meaden was born on February 11, 1959. At the time of writing, she is 64 years old.
Deborah was born in Taunton, Somerset, but moved to Brightlingsea in Essex after her parents divorced.
She went to the Godolphin School, Salisbury and Trowbridge High School for Girls. After leaving school at 16, she studied Business at Brighton Technical College.
And she obviously learnt a thing or two!

How did Deborah Meaden make her money?
From a very early age, Deborah knew she wanted her own business.
After studying business at college, Deborah moved to Italy at the age of 19 where she set up a glass and ceramics export agency, which sold products to retailers including Harvey Nichols.
After this, Deborah embarked on a number of other business ventures including a franchise for Italian clothing company Stefanel and a prize bingo concession at Butlin’s.
She later bought one of the first Stefanel textile franchises in the UK, which was based in the West Country.
She sold out two years later to her partner for £10,000.
Deborah then had several successful leisure and retail businesses, including a spell operating a Prize Bingo at Butlin’s in Minehead.
In 1988, Deborah joined her family’s business to run its amusement arcade operations and, in 1992, joined Weststar Holidays – a family holiday park operator based in Exeter, Devon.
In 1999, she led a management buyout and acquired the majority shareholding.
When she was managing director of Weststar Holidays, she sold the company in a deal worth £33 million while retaining a 23 per cent share.
Showing her entrepreneurial flair, she gave the business a makeover and sold her remaining stake for a further £83million.
She has since bought Fox Brothers and, in October 2011, launched The Merchant Fox, an online store selling British-made luxury goods with provenance.
Dragons’ Den has enabled her to invest in all manner of businesses, from a wool manufacturer to a company producing baby products, an online antique valuation service and a recipe website.
Did Deborah Meaden have cancer?
In August 2022, Deborah Meaden revealed that she had been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer.
She was diagnosed in 2015, after her makeup artist on Dragons’ Den noticed a suspicious small spot on her face around six weeks prior to her diagnosis.
Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common form of skin cancer.
Deborah explained how she was incredibly lucky to have caught the cancer early.
The TV star says she now has to take greater care when she’s outside in the sunshine and always wears Factor 50.
She now urges people to seek medical help if they are concerned.

Did Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden appear on Strictly?
Deborah Meaden has been married to husband Paul Farmer for 30 years. They met in the summer of 1985, when he worked at Weststar during his university break.
They briefly separated when she took a trip to Venezuela, but reunited when she returned to London and married in 1993.
Deborah has revealed Paul is in charge of domestic chores including cooking and cleaning. She told The Telegraph in 2011 that she didn’t do any domestic chores at all, leaving it all to Paul.
She said: “I hate cleaning so as a student I used to work in a bar at night in order to pay someone to clean my flat. I’ve never told anyone that. I still don’t do any domestic chores; my husband Paul is in charge. It sounds terrible, doesn’t it?”
In 2023’s B&B by the Sea, Deborah admitted she was “incompetent as a chef” and her kitchen at home was built around Paul. She further proved her case with a disastrous showing in Celebrity Bake Off in 2023.
Deborah and Paul live together in a Somerset farmhouse, where they house a vast array of animals! These include two cats, three dogs, six horses, three pigs, four sheep, numerous birds and “three very angry geese”.
The pair have do not have children.

Is Deborah Meaden vegan?
Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden is indeed vegan. She completed Veganuary in 2020 and the change stuck.
She told The Mirror: “I decided to do Veganuary two years ago and thought, ‘I like this and don’t want to eat meat’. I feel fitter and better in my soul because I’ve reduced the impact on the planet.”
However, she admits she misses one particular dairy product. In fact, she’s even willing to fund a vegan alternative!
She continued: “I miss cheese. If anyone can come up with a vegan stilton I’ll throw money at them!”
How rich is Deborah Meaden? How much is she worth?
She’s definitely got the cash to spend on a vegan cheese venture!
According to reports, Deborah has a net worth of £50 million.
Her net worth puts her roughly in the middle of the Dragons’ Den rich list. Her co-star Peter Jones is the richest of the Dragons, with a net worth of more than a billion pounds. Sara Davies, in comparison, has a paltry 38 million.
The Apprentice series 18 has arrived, and – absolutely no shocker whatsoever – the candidates of 2024 are the usual bunch of idiots, egomaniacs, and arse-lickers.
But there are some nicer ones, too (I’m feeling generous as it hasn’t rained for three days).
This year, Lord Sugar is offering a £250,000 business investment to the winner of his business reality show. But there are 17 other contestants who need to get fired first…
Frankly, it’s baffling how some of them even made it through the door, or even found the door knob. In episode 1 (Thursday, February 01, 2024), this year’s 18 candidates kick things off in the breathtaking Scottish Highlands.
Under the watchful eye of Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell, teams are tasked with hosting a corporate away day, but there’s utter chaos in the kitchen and embarrassingly shambolic tours. I mean, from a viewer’s point of view, it’s TV gold!
Ahead of episode 1, here’s my brutal ranking of The Apprentice contestants taking part in 2024 (from worst to best)… And, like Claude Littner, I’m not going to mince my words! But luckily, this bunch have the skin of rhinos. They’d all throw their pet puppies under the bus to get to the top…
The Apprentice 2024 candidate Virdi Singh Mazaria has a serious case of verbal diarrhoea (Credit: BBC)
18 (aka The Worst). Virdi Singh Mazaria
The ego has landed with Virdi Mazaria, who introduces himself as: “Virdi Mazaria is in the house. DJ. Host. MC. The other candidates are just extras on my journey to the top.”
Music Producer Virdi, from Leicester, has a background in music, but all I could hear was some serious BS flowing from his mouth. He has a serious case of the mouth trots, and doesn’t let any of his fellow colleagues speak. Sure fire way to be hated, mate. He says he knows how to “make people have a good time” but he makes his fellow candidates feel ignored and undervalued. Idiotic mistake. His constant prattle about his DJing is frankly embarrassing, not to mention out of place.
Virdi has worked as a DJ in seven countries (he mentions it many times) first working internationally at the age of 18. Well good for you mate… But, if you’re such a successful DJ, why on earth are you prepared to be publicly humiliated on The Apprentice 2024? This man has such a thick skin, he doesn’t notice when everyone around him is giving him a death stare.
Oh, and that ambition to be in a Marvel movie as one of the Avengers? I think Chris Hemsworth can sleep soundly tonight.
Dr Asif Khan loves himself more than is socially acceptable (Credit: BBC)
The Apprentice candidates 2024 17. Dr Asif Munaf
Sheffield doctor Asif Munaf boasts: “I’ve got an extremely high IQ. I’ve got an extremely high bench press. And to top it off I’m quite good on the eye.”
Hmmm, can someone get this man a mirror? The most arrogant of the lot, he describes himself as “beauty, brains, body and business”. The four B’s… But Lord Sugar took the words right out of my mouth when he added a fifth B – succinctly put “bollocks”.
I’m not cruel enough to knock a doctor who worked 12 hour shifts during the Covid pandemic, but I do question why he chose that exact time to launch his vitamins and supplement business…
Dr Asif is clearly desperate to be on TV, too, and fame hungry isn’t a good look. He previously appeared on series 15 of Dragons’ Den with his D.A.T.E Smoothie. Deborah Meaden criticised the name of his product, while Peter Jones believed it would never go to market. Dr. Asif believes this was his biggest business fail, having left the Den with no investment. I strongly suspect Lord Sugar will do the same. Watch this space.
Oliver Medforth wouldn’t last two seconds on GBBO (Credit: BBC)
16. Oliver Medforth
Yorkshire sales executive Oliver Medworth describes himself as “a selling machine”, but he barely opens his mouth during episode 1. It’s hard to make an impression when someone hasn’t spoken.
However, when he did speak, I wished he hadn’t. Will Lord Sugar put him trust in a man who doesn’t know the difference between a tablespoon or a teaspoon? I think not. And when all eyes are on him to make a perfect brownie, the imbecile forgets to put the flour in. Paul Hollywood would use this moron as a toothpick.
And then Oliver really ruins the silence by saying he’s never been in a kitchen before… Do his servants bring him his dindins in bed?
Tre Lowe is tres arrogant (Credit: BBC)
The Apprentice 2024 candidates 15. Tre Lowe
The Apprentice 2024 candidate Tre Lowe looks achingly hip. I’ve got to admit, I love he way he looks. So it was such a shame when he opened his mouth!
“I don’t think there’s ever been a candidate like me. I am going to change the world, and create a legacy that reverberates through time,” says Tre. Perhaps he thinks he’s Doctor Who?
Music and wellness entrepreneur Tre hopes to win investment for his wellness business, after being forced to give up music due to severe tinnitus.
The London-based entrepreneur is known internationally for being part of UK garage band Architechs. In 2000, the band hit no.3 in the UK music charts with their single Body Groove.
Whatever his past, Tre is the most patronising candidate. And methinks he’ll feel Lord Sugar’s wrath in the not-too distant future…
2024 Apprentice candidate Rachel Woolford barely registers on my radar (Credit: BBC)
14. Rachel Woolford
Rachel is a total non-entity so far. She says about three words during the whole of the first episode. And they may as well be “don’t fire me”. Rachel is trying to fly under the radar. Which is a successful tactic sometimes, but boring to watch.
Boutique fitness studio owner Rachel, from Leeds, has been selling since she was a child. She went missing from home aged seven, only for her frantic mother to find her on the side of the road selling her toys while shaking a biscuit tin full of cash.
So she’s obviously got some gumption. So please show it to me!
Foluso Falade disappears into the background (Credit: BBC)
The Apprentice 2024 candidates 13. Foluso Falade
Manchester-based project manager Foluso reckons she’s the “Mary Poppins of business”. But, like Rachel, she doesn’t shine at all at first. I’m struggling to remember a word she says.
Her business is a social enterprise, helping young people, and she aims for it to be the first of its kind to win Lord Sugar’s investment. That, at least, I can get behind.
Foluso’s passion for business comes from her mother, who ran a shop in Manchester for 25 years. She says: “I’ve always been inspired by her perseverance, and passion to keep growing and she’s inspired me to take a leap of faith and believe in myself.”
Foluso believes she is a “one-of-a-kind” and wants to build her business empire the ethical way. She’ll need to speak up to be noticed by Lord Sugar though…
Paul Bowen is annoying. Fact. (Credit: BBC)
12. Paul Bowen
Lancashire pie company owner talks in clichés and it’s so cringe. He talks about “closing a deal like a barn door – bang”. A barn door? How about the door to Lord Sugar’s office? Close it on your way out, won’t you?
If Sam is Del-Boy (see below), then Paul is definitely Rodney. He’s as gormless as they come, but thinks a patronising wink to two females will get him what he wants. It won’t.
Paul has some big name clients already – the pie-maker provides pies to European football champions Manchester City. He says he’s a hard worker with great ideas, and with investment he could make Lord Sugar “Lord of the Pies”.
He might have a chance, if he learns to rein in the claptrap.
Flo Edwards wants to be noticed, but isn’t loud enough (Credit: BBC)
The Apprentice 2024 candidates 11. Flo Edwards
Flo introduces herself, saying: “My warning to the other candidates is, don’t underestimate me. I’m a very competitive person, I’m not here to lose. I’m here to win.”
However, despite all the bluster, she’s clearly clueless about a lot of things during the first task. She suggests the tour group “give some rivery facts”. Never mind that “rivery” isn’t a word at all.
Sadly, recruitment consultant Flo, from London, has the charisma of a twig.
She takes a measured response to failure, believing: “If you don’t fail and make mistakes, you’ll never learn and grow.” And something tells me she’ll be making lots of mistakes.
The Apprentice 2024 candidate Raj Chohan doesn’t make much of an impression (Credit: BBC)
10. Raj Chohan
Leamington Spa-based mortgage broker Raj has won ‘Mortgage Broker of the year’ as well as achieving the Silver Award winner of Best Businesswoman in Finance.
As well as being a mortgage broker, she is also a property developer and serviced accommodation provider. And, sadly, that’s as boring as it sounds.
Raj has barely registered on my radar so far. She needs to up her game, but I think she will when all the noise pipes down.
The Apprentice 2024: Maura Rath (Credit: BBC)
The Apprentice 2024 candidates 9. Maura Rath
Yoga company owner Maura, from Wexford, is another of the candidates who fades into the background at the moment. But at least, she hasn’t said anything stupid yet, so that’s no bad thing.
She reckons she deserves Lord Sugar’s investment because her business promotes positivity and well-being, as well as having five income streams.
In her spare time, Maura loves to swim in the Irish sea – regardless of the weather! She says: “I am obsessed with sea swimming and cold-water dipping and actually prefer the colder months.”
Might not be a valuable skill in The Apprentice, though, as it’s usually hot water the candidates are swimming in!
The Apprentice 2024: Onyeka Nweze (Credit: BBC)
8. Onyeka Nweze
Chartered company secretary Onyeka, from London, tells us: “My business is going to be making 10 million within the first five years. To be honest, I don’t need Lord Sugar.”
Well off you trot then! Onyeka ‘Lord Sugar needs me’ Nweze hopes her tech business will be the first of its kind to win investment from Lord Sugar during The Apprentice.
But she shows poor leadership during the first task. Onyeka is the first woman to become a project manager, and we all know what that means. Disaster is usually just around the corner! And it doesn’t start well when the team disagree with her very first decision. Which is rather stupidly totally informed by the fact she can’t swim. She’s totally overwhelmed here, proving she’s style over substance.
However, credit where credit is due. She’s brave enough to lead the first task. And that wins my vote, against the women who would rather hide behind her.
Can Amina Khan stand out amongst the The Apprentice 2024 candidates? (Credit: BBC)
The Apprentice 2024 candidates 7. Amina Khan
Ilford-based pharmacist and business owner Amina made her first turnover of £1 million just two years after setting up her skincare and supplements business. Which begs the question – what is she doing on The Apprentice 2024?
She describes herself as a “massive risk taker” who is capable of making “calculated decisions” when it comes to her business. Her results speak for themselves, she says, as she has never made a loss.
Amina reckons joining up with Lord Sugar would mean they could “dominate the market overnight”. But she’s suspiciously quiet at first.
That being said, I think she shows promise. I’d be surprised if she doesn’t last the distance – unless she does something very wrong in the meantime…
Steve Darken shows promise (Credit: BBC)
6. Steve Darken
London-based management consultant Steve Darken should change his middle name to “positivity”. He tries to be the peacekeeper here, and the men definitely need one with so many egos colliding.
He lists his proudest achievement as “proving that you can succeed in business without being a jerk”. And, on first impressions, he’s right. He’s not a jerk. Not yet anyway.
As a management consultant, he’s partnered with some of the biggest companies in the world, which he claims he transformed into market leaders.
Consultancy isn’t his first taste of success. He once won a filmmaking contest at Pinewood Studios and had a film screened at Cannes Film Festival.
He’s another candidate I feel hopeful about. At least he listens occasionally, rather than constantly prattling on like some of his fellow candidates.
Dr Paul Midha has tried to find fame before (Credit: BBC)
The Apprentice 2024 candidates 5. Dr Paul Midha
Leeds-based dentist Dr. Paul managed to grow the valuation of his dental practice by over five times its initial value in just 15 months. He’s looking to “revolutionise the healthcare attire market” with his business idea.
He does seem to talk sense (more sense than some of his fellow candidates at least), and isn’t half as irritating. However, he’s another one who has tried fame before in different ways. Which doesn’t exactly make him come across as a serious businessman.
The Apprentice isn’t his first TV experience. He appeared on Britain’s Got Talent as a body popper, and has also appeared as an extra in a Disney TV show.
So is he just on The Apprentice to get famous? Time will tell, but so far so good.
Noor Bouziane is LITERALLY a candidate on The Apprentice 2024 (Credit: BBC)
4. Noor Bouziane
Liverpool business owner Noor “literally has competitiveness in her blood” so she really needs to see a doctor and fast. Either that, or she needs to look up the word “literally” in the dictionary.
She tells us: “I will go any lengths I have to go to win this process.” May I suggest a long walk off a short plank?
Noor started her premium jewellery business when she was 20, and believes Lord Sugar would be “missing out” if he chooses not to invest in her.
However, she does make a valid point when the girls decide to pay hundreds of pounds for “some sticks”. I was beginning to back her, until she uses crumble instead of breadcrumbs to coat some fishcakes in the kitchen. Sounds like another candidate who has never been in a kitchen before like Oliver, only she describes herself as a “fantastic” cook.
One thing is for sure, though, if she got a quid every time she said “literally” she would “literally” be the richest woman on earth. Literally.
Jack Davies is another The Apprentice 2024 candidate (Credit: BBC)
The Apprentice 2024 candidates 3. Jack Davies
Bristol recruitment director Jack isn’t the loudest person in the room, which isn’t a bad thing. And he kinda looks like a Disney prince, if he keeps him mouth closed.
Jack also claims he’s never failed in business, saying that to him: “Failure is never an option.”
And he proves that when, after the task goes horribly wrong, he still asks for a tip at the end. Now that is the cheekiest thing uttered so far in The Apprentice 2024. And I kind of like him for it.
Phil Turner doesn’t want to make friends on The Apprentice 2024 (Credit: BBC)
2. Phil Turner
Bognor Regis-based Phil ‘Supreme Pie Champion’ Turner tells us: “I didn’t come here to play games, and I didn’t come here to make friends.” Which is just as well, because he won’t.
He adds: “You don’t grow a multi-million business by being a pushover.” Again, I have to ask, why are you on The Apprentice if you’re such a badass businessman?
He bought his family’s small bakery at the age of 21 and transformed it into a seven-figure profitable business. And, to be fair, he’s got a level head on him. He doesn’t crack under the pressure (brownie joke, geddit?), and seems pretty sensible. I can see him working alongside Lord Sugar, if the Amstrad millionaire can face investing in another food outlet.
Phil manages to keep calm even when DJ Virdi is spinning BS, and that’s quite the talent to have. I would have performed a Highland fling on the man. And by that I mean catapulted him into the statosphere. Well, he does love to travel!
The Apprentice 2024: Sam Saadet is our favourite candidate so far (Credit: BBC)
1 (aka The Best). Sam Saadet
For some reason Sam describes herself as the Del-Boy of business on her CV. She also agrees when Lord Sugar calls her a “plonker”. Am I missing something here? Much as we all loved Only Fools and Horses, Del-Boy was a walking disaster as a businessman. All jokes aside, should Sam be comparing herself to the TV fool?
I like that she’s self-deprecating, and can laugh at herself. But she should be careful others don’t take the piss. She’s by far the candidate with the most potential here. She’s likeable, savvy, and resourceful.
She’s currently a fitness coach for mums and mums-to-be only, a business she started whilst looking after her own two small children. No mean feat.
Sam describes herself as: “One of the savviest, go-getting women I know!” Although she looks like she could be at home on Love Island, she does seem to have some sense. I like her. For now. And would bet on her being in the final.
