    Janhvi Kapoor REVEALS her parents did not approve of her first boyfriend; says, ‘My first ever…’

    Janhvi Kapoor was subjected to a lot of judgment when she made her Bollywood debut with the film Dhadak in 2018. The fact that she was the daughter of late actress Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor made her the center of the nepotism debate in Bollywood. But, after the romantic drama film became a commercial success, it was accepted that she was more than her filmy family background. Then came Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Good Luck Jerry, Mili, and recently, Bawaal.

    Janhvi is as much in her family as she is in her career. In a recent interview, Janhavi revealed that her parents were conservative and strict when it came to her being in a relationship.

    In a conversation with Kusha Kapila on Swipe Ride, Janhvi spilled the beans about her first boyfriend and how her relationship with him ended because of her parents.

    She said, “My first ever serious boyfriend was that same ‘chup-chup ke milenge’ (meet in hiding) ‘jhooth bol bol ke’ (we will lie about each other) all of that and there was a thrill in that but unfortunately, that relationship ended because I had to lie so much and mom and dad were like ‘No you will never have a boyfriend’ and they were very conservative. And that’s when I realized having your parents’ approval and having transparency with them makes everything so easy. It makes you feel so much more confident about your decisions. And having them to share things with and vice-versa, it’s just a very wholesome experience.”

    The actress says your decisions change when you are open with your parents

    She further added that your decisions also change when you are open with your parents. “If you feel confident about like ya, I am seeing this person, I can get him home, like my father is okay with it and he’s happy with my choice, it makes you believe in the relationship more. Okay, I must be doing something right.”

    Furthermore, she also admitted that Bollywood has influenced her expectations of love a lot. “There’s a lot of fun in staring out of the window, watching the raindrops fall.”

    After recently sharing screentime with Varun Dhawan in Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal, Janhvi will be next seen with Rajkummar Rao in Mr. and Mrs. Mahi. Janhvi has been shooting for the drama Ulajh. Additionally, a Telugu movie Devara is also on the cards which also stars Jr. NTR.

    Rabbi Abraham Cooper of SWC has written a letter to Prime Video to take down the film. Now, the Israeli Embassy has put out a tweet that is is disturbed by the trivialization of the Holocaust in Bawaal. They have said that though it might be a well-intentioned movie, the use of terminology was not really appropriate. They urged Indians to educate themselves about the horrors of the Nazi regime and how lakhs of Jews were massacred.     Varun Dhawan said that the outrage seemed to be selective. He said that no one has issues with Oppenheimer but there is a problem with Bawaal. The movie has got a lot of love from general audience who liked the story of the two leads and their acting.     Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan are currently on a spree of promoting their upcoming romantic drama Bawaal which is all set to be released globally on OTT this Friday.

    On Wednesday, Varun and Janhvi were yet again clicked promoting Bawaal in Mumbai. For this, Janhvi was seen looking ethereal in a white traditional suit. She opted for open tress and accessorised her look with a pair of silver jhumkas. Completing her look, she wore a pair of white mojris. Varun kept it casual with a blue polo t-shirt and blue jeans with matching shoes.

    Today, the trailer of Bawaal was released in the UAE. It is the first movie of Nitesh Tiwari and Varun Dhawan. As we know, producer Sajid Nadiadwala and Tiwari joined hands for the 2019 blockbuster Chhichhore which also won the National Award. In the film’s trailer, we see that Varun Dhawan gets married to Janhvi Kapoor to give his image a boost. They embark on a trip to Europe to see spots associated with Hitler. We see that their relationship gets strained during this time. Janhvi Kapoor said bagging the role was not an easy task for her. It seems she chased Nitesh Tiwari and Sajid Nadiadwala to cast her in the romantic drama.     At the trailer launch of Bawaal, Janhvi Kapoor said, “I was pinching myself every day because it was such a big opportunity for me to work with everyone. I tried really hard to convince them to take me in the film. I chased them and I stalked Nitesh sir and Sajid (Nadiadwala; producer) sir quite a bit (laughs).” The actress said she troubled them a lot. It seemed it felt very special for her when she was finally on set with such “talented people every day”. The actress says she was honestly in disbelief.     Sajid Nadiadwala told the media present, “The surprise element was Janhvi and the way she struggled. One day she barged into the office. And my inbox was anyway full with her messages that said, ‘Please, audition me.’” The producer said that she forgot him after she began working with Nitesh Tiwari. He said she never came to his cabin again. He lauded her dedication for Bawaal. Nadiadwala is full of praise for the lead pair.     He said he is proud of how they shot without any complaints in the varying climate of Europe. The actors did not cancel any dates as they spent time shooting in cities like Amsterdam, Paris, Poland and Germany. He said, “There was no cancellation and that’s a producer’s dream and they’re one.”

    Varun Dhawan plays a history teacher of Lucknow who is kind of a mini celebrity in the city. Due to some reasons, he has to visit the World War II trail of Europe. He takes his newly wedded wife, Nisha played by Janhvi Kapoor with him. A series of events makes them confront their conflicting emotions. The film apparently has a global message.
