Pregnant south Omaha woman shares experience getting carjacked

    [ad_1]

A South Omaha woman who was carjacked this week at gunpoint tells KETV she is five months pregnant. Omaha police arrested four teenagers on Thursday and say they carried out the crime. Officers booked the teens on robbery and use of a weapon charges. They are all 13 to 17 years old. Police say the group carjacked the 27-year-old pregnant woman in a cul-de-sac at Spring Lake Park Wednesday afternoon. They say one of the teens shot a man in a separate vehicle as they were driving away. The soon-to-be mother, Perla, says she thought it was a joke at first because the carjackers were so young. Perla was just taking her dog out for a walk when a young man approached her and opened her passenger-side door pointing a gun. She did not want her face on camera, still recovering from the ordeal. “They told me ‘give me your money. I know you have money, give me your money.’ And like you said, they’re just kids so I was like is this a joke, is this, what?” Perla said. But it was no joke. Perla says the four carjackers took her keys and made a getaway. Police say they shot at another vehicle, striking the 32-year-old driver.”I started crying. I was at the park with my dog, I just took him out because he wasn’t feeling well. I just wanted to go on a walk with him,” Perla said.Omaha police eventually recovered Perla’s car in North Omaha along with another vehicle the suspects used in the carjacking. They say people commit this crime for a myriad of reasons: maybe it is on a dare, a challenge or for a joyride. It is much harder to sell a stolen vehicle or tear it down for scrap. Police say to lessen the chance of a carjacking, you have to be aware of your surroundings. “We always try to encourage people to look up while they’re walking to and from either a vehicle or into a business,” said Officer Chris Gordon, an Omaha police spokesperson. If someone aggressively approaches you to take your car, your well-being should come first. Use good judgement and be smart. Do not try to fight back if the robber is armed with something dangerous. It is also important to think like a witness: look for distinguishing features on the suspect and report the carjacking immediately to police. “If you walk out with your head up, looking around, making contact at people, making eye contact, that tends to minimize you as a perceived victim,” Gordon said. For Perla, the incident has left her shaken, but OK. She is looking forward to putting this behind her and being a mom. “She’s my first baby so I just don’t want anything to happen to her,” Perla said.Police also say it is best to park in well-seen areas, try to go in pairs to your car when possible and have your vehicle keys in hand ready to lock and unlock the doors quickly. The 32-year-old driver who was shot, Jorge Garcia, was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, but authorities say those injuries are non-life-threatening.

EXCLUSIVE: Hartford woman gives birth to baby mid-flight

    [ad_1]

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – A woman who lives in Hartford was traveling to the Dominican Republic last month at seven months pregnant when her water broke mid-flight.

Kendria Rhoden named her son Skylen because of where he made his debut.

“Everything just happened so fast, it just happened so quick,” Rhoden said.

With another 6 weeks until her due date, which was Oct. 23, Kendria’s little boy came into the world on an airplane early September.

“While I was asleep I felt someone kick me in my stomach and then my water broke,” Rhoden said.

Nurses on board came to help, but it didn’t take long for her to deliver her baby.

“They were like ‘oh don’t push, don’t push because we don’t see any head,’” Rhoden said. “I’m like ‘the babies coming!’”

Skylen and his mom spent the last few weeks in the Dominican Republic where they faced some difficulties. However, they returned and the baby was in the hospital for a evaluation.

“I feel good now because I’m home and he’s safe, he’s where he needs to be right now,” Rhoden said. “So, I would say I’m happier than I was in the Dominican Republic.”

Skylen’s passport said he is a citizen of the U.S. and lists his place as birth as “in the air.”

    ABOUT

Award-winning artist and designer Wolter started designing decal kits when she couldn’t find for her son’s nursery a high-quality, decal product that looked hand-painted and flowed like a mural. So, painstakingly, she painted one herself. When her and her family relocated and had to leave the murals behind, she was heartbroken. After many months of researching and refining her method, Wolter developed the perfect system to capture the look of her original, hand-painted art on high-quality material, and married it with a customized design layout guide and color palette. Wolter’s designs have gained notoriety in the designer wall decal industry.

  • Termosha Baby Smart Thermometer From Russia! New Generation Gadget Soon on INDIEGOGO.

Termosha Baby Smart Thermometer From Russia! New Generation Gadget Soon on INDIEGOGO.

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 17, 2017

RELSIB, a Russian innovative company from Novosibirsk, the center of Russian high-tech research, developed an absolutely unique baby electronic thermometer Termosha. Termosha Smart Thermometer is an all-in-one device intended for taking a body temperature as well as the temperature of liquids, gases, plastic and friable substances. Termosha Smart Thermometer is a real helper in a day-by-day routine of all families available now at www.termosha.com.

But its main destination is to take the body temperature of babies. Termosha Baby Smart Thermometer is absolutely safe for the most precious little patients. It has a wide flat probe without a metal tip; it is more convenient for taking the temperature in the armpit and more pleasant to do that under the tongue. It is made of a hypoallergenic medical plastic. Termosha takes a body temperature with the highest precision of ±0,1°C; the thermometer provides the first result in 40…120 seconds with the function of prediction. The thermometer turns on automatically as soon as the probe is heated and transmits the data via Bluetooth to a smart phone or a tablet. Little children can measure the temperature by themselves without the help of adults through children’s mobile app. An amusing little octopus also named Termosha will entertain kids in the process of measuring: he will show his home, introduce his mom and dad, and play games. Kids won’t even notice as the time flies by. If the temperature turns out to be high, Termosha will tell a child what to do:  get into bed, take medicine given by her/his parents, or sponge down.

The thermometer is waterproof; it can also be used for taking the temperature of water, air, food, etc. Termosha is excellent for temperature control of a baby food before feeding; the water in a bath before bathing, air inside a room and outside, food in the process of cooking as well as the temperature under the baby’s clothes near feet during a stroll.  The measurement range of the thermometer is from -22 to +158°F (-30…+70 °С). The temperature readings are transmitted to a smart phone or a tablet via Bluetooth up to 50m. Up to 6 thermometers can be connected to one mobile device.

The thermometer operates with three mobile applications both on iOS and Android. The first one is THERMOMETER TERMOSHA for a baby temperature taking. It displays the temperature values through animation, entertains kids with games and teaches them what to do at various temperatures.

The second universal app is THERMOMETER SMART FAMILY. With this application, it is possible to measure and monitor all temperatures stated above. The app notifies when the temperature is beyond set limits, records it in a graph, saves data in a calendar, and sends them via email.

The third one is a special woman’s application – THERMOMETER LADIES SMART. In this application the developer provided everything a woman can need for basal temperature measuring, comparing the menstruation cycles, even the capability to send the readings to her doctor by email. All apps can be downloaded from the App Store or the Google Play.

Termosha is a Russian gadget which will become a new standard of the electronic thermometers which not only operates with a mobile device but becomes one device for any temperature taking in the home. Within the next two months, Termosha crowdfunding campaign will be launched on Indiegogo.

Designer Anitra Mecadon Goes Behind the Scenes with Colgate Mattress on “Diaper Pad” Episode

    [ad_1]

Celebrity Designer Anitra Mecadon Goes Behind-the-Scenes with Colgate Mattress on New Episode of “Diaper Pad”. HGTV Star and mom-to-be offers straightforward advice on how to choose a safe, eco-friendly crib mattress.

    Press Release

    Sep 22, 2016

TV personality and award-winning interior designer Anitra Mecadon takes moms-to-be on a fun and informative journey to buying a safe, eco-friendly crib mattress on the next episode of her digital series “Diaper Pad.” During the episode, Mecadon and husband, Adam Bret, visit the nation’s oldest family owned crib mattress maker, Colgate Mattress. Whether viewers are first-time parents, grandparents or caregivers, Diaper Pad offers honest, straightforward advice in Anitra’s signature approachable style. The episode will premiere today on Diaper Pad.

When Anitra and Adam discovered they were expecting, they decided to purchase a new mattress for their bedroom. Frustrated by the process and endless options, the two were inspired to shop early for a crib mattress that met their strict requirements for safety, health, and comfort. Following a visit to the eco-friendly baby boutique, Happy Mango, the couple decided to check out the EverTrue™ Diamond, Colgate’s top of the line dual firmness foam crib mattress.

“If you think shopping for an adult mattress can be overwhelming, just wait until you start exploring options for your baby. I wanted to help new parents sort through the junk and make decisions that they can feel confident about.”

    Anitra Mecadon

“If you think shopping for an adult mattress can be overwhelming, just wait until you start exploring options for your baby. I wanted to help new parents sort through the junk and make decisions that they can feel confident about,” Mecadon said. “I think every mom wants her baby to sleep safe and sound. Plus, when baby sleeps, mama sleeps… a great crib mattress is key!”

This episode of Diaper Pad offers a behind-the-scenes look at Colgate’s Atlanta-based factory, where crib mattresses are constructed by hand. While there, Anitra details her list of preferences in a conversation with Colgate’s marketing director, Terri Paul. The top three must-haves included:

    • Safety first – As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, Anitra’s first necessity was a firm sleep surface. The Diamond’s unique design provides the extra firmness infants need for proper growth and development on one side as well as the added comfort toddlers prefer on the other.
    • No exposure to chemicals – The Diamond features plant-oil infused eco foam and ultrasonically welded side seams. This mattress also meets and exceeds all federal and state requirements for flammability and chemical composition and has earned the GREENGUARD® Gold and Certi-PurUS® certifications ensuring no harmful air emissions.
    • Optimal airflow – To provide unprecedented airflow, the Diamond combines Colgate’s Diamond channel gel memory foam with its exclusive SecureCore honeycomb mesh fabric spacer. The crib mattress also brings the power of Celliant® — the world’s first biologically responsive fabric — to crib mattresses to help baby sleep better. Frequently used in high-performance athletic gear, this innovative material is designed to increase circulation and improve the level of oxygen in the body. As an added benefit, the Celliant infused cover has no chemical flame retardants that could be harmful to baby.

“Anitra really did her homework before challenging us to demonstrate how the EverTrue Diamond meets all of her needs as a concerned mom-to-be,” said Paul. “At Colgate, we want every caregiver to know how important the crib mattress is throughout growth and development. And as the mother of four, it’s an honor to share info that helps Anitra and Adam prepare for their baby’s arrival.”

“New dads can sometimes be removed from the process of preparing the nursery, especially things like buying a crib mattress,” added Adam Bret. “But when you consider that infants can spend up to 16 hours a day sleeping, then add to that the value of your own peace of mind, this is one investment that certainly pays off.”

Sold exclusively at dedicated and knowledgeable specialty store partners, including Brixy member stores, the EverTrue™ Diamond is a lightweight, 6” thick foam crib mattress. Made in the US, the Diamond fits all standard size American cribs and toddler beds. Suggested MSRP is $349.99.
