  • Prosecutors plan to ‘dirty up’ Kirk suspect Tyler Robinson to sway jury toward death penalty: fmr US atty

Tyler Robinson’s motive for why he allegedly assassinated TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk may be more important during the sentencing phase as prosecutors will try to “dirty up” the suspect in hopes that jurors return a death sentence, according to a former assistant U.S. attorney.

Robinson is accused of assassinating Kirk during a TPUSA event on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley Univerisity in Orem, Utah, officials said. He’s been charged with aggravated murder, two counts of obstruction of justice and felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of witness tampering and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child.

Officials claim Robinson allegedly said he killed Kirk because he “had enough of his hatred,” adding that “some hate can’t be negotiated out.”

Court documents indicate that Robinson texted his roommate, Lance Twiggs, asking him to “look under my keyboard.”

“I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I’m going to take it,” read a note photographed by Robinson’s roommate, according to authorities.

“You weren’t the one who did it right????” the roommate allegedly wrote to Robinson.

“I am, I’m sorry,” Robinson said, according to the court documents.

“It’s going to dirty up Robinson. The jurors are not going to like him because not only is there no legal justification for what he did, but there’s really no moral one whatsoever.”

While prosecutors are still piecing together a motive, Utah Gov. Spencer said Kirk’s death was a “political assassination.” He said that one of the bullets allegedly used by Robinson had an engraving that read “Hey fascist, catch.”

“I think that speaks for itself,” Cox said during a news conference.

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Neama Rahmani told Fox News Digital that prosecutors are going to rely on this evidence more during the penalty phase in order to convince jurors to hand down a death sentence for Robinson.

“The Utah County prosecutor is going to try to put Robinson to death and the motive for the killing is going to be something that is key evidence in the case. It’s going to dirty up Robinson,” Rahmani said.

Robinson will only face the death sentence if 12 out of 12 jurors agree he should be killed for his alleged crimes, which only makes it more important for prosecutors to outline a clear, detailed motive, Rahmani said.

“To the extent that the prosecution has to get 12 out of 12 jurors to return that death sentence. The motive for the crime will be an important reason why the prosecution may get there,” he said. “So when jurors are weighing the death penalty, the reason why someone killed another human being, if it was for political reasons, that’s certainly an aggravated factor.”

“Even one or two jurors could save Tyler Robinson’s life. And just from a pure numbers perspective, there are some people that have a difficult time looking another human being in the eye and giving them lethal injection or the firing squad,” Rahmani added. “The other possibility, of course, is they try to defend the case in the guilt phase. It’s going to be very hard to defend, but they’ll have to argue some sort of radicalization.”

While Robinson’s attorney, Kathryn Nester, hasn’t yet responded to prosecutors’ claims on why their client killed Kirk, she said during a Monday court hearing that the defense is reserving the right to call for a preliminary hearing, where prosecutors would be forced to disclose evidence and allow for cross-examination before the case proceeds.

Robinson is due back in court on Oct. 30.

  • Bill Maher explores connection between internet memes and recent political violence

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

“Real Time” host Bill Maher asked an internet culture researcher Friday about memes to understand how people get “inspired to kill.”

Memes, or “historical documents” with various interpretations, were engraved on the shell casings of late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s suspected assassin, “Real Time” guest Aidan Walker said.

Kirk’s accused killer etched gamer-inspired and antifascist messaging on his casings, including, “Hey, fascist! Catch!” and a reference to a World War II anthem.

MAHER BLASTS HOLLYWOOD LIBERALS FOR NOT ACKNOWLEDGING CHARLIE KIRK’S ASSASSINATION AT THE EMMYS

“But [memes] take on new meanings, I mean this is part of why people get inspired to kill,” Maher said. “Because they get insulted by them, right? They get hurt by them. They have a meaning that a lot of us older people are not getting, correct?”

Suspected assassin Tyler James Robinson, (L) and a John Brown Gun Club recruiting poster with a nod to the alleged killer found on the Georgetown University campus on Sept. 24, 2025.  (Fox News)

The discussion came in the wake of Wednesday’s deadly shooting at a Dallas I.C.E. facility, where one detainee was killed, and two others were wounded before the shooter took his own life. The gunman reportedly left behind a bullet casing inscribed with the phrase “anti-ICE.”

He was almost “murdering ironically,” Maher considered.

MAHER SAYS COMPARING TRUMP TO HITLER MUST END, WARNS IT MAKES IT EASIER FOR KILLERS TO JUSTIFY ASSASSINATIONS

“I mean, that’s a place society has never been,” Maher continued. “Yes, young men are bad and fumbling to get women to agree to what they want to do. But it was never like this. We never had the term incel [involuntarily celibate].”

A lot of memes can also be ironic, Walker explained.

Five rounds, one of which says "Anti-ICE" in blue letters on it.

FBI Director Kash Patel said investigators recovered these rounds from the scene in Dallas where a gunman opened fire on the local ICE field office on Sept. 24, 2025.  (FBI)

“In a way it’s a little bit like dog whistle…they’re so layered in, you know, I don’t really mean this, but you can put this sort of anti-social or hateful idea behind that,” he described.

The 26-year-old researcher attributed problematic anti-social behavior to not just an affordability crisis but a “crisis of meaning.”

MANGIONE, CATHOLIC CHURCH SHOOTER, CHARLIE KIRK SHOOTER, ICE SHOOTER ALL USED ENGRAVED BULLETS

“You have a lot of especially young people who don’t see a future for themselves, who feel lonely, who feel alienated,” he discussed. “And they congregate in these online spaces sort of outside of the mainstream where they feel like that online world is more important than their real world.”

Walker went on to share “the way out” that he says gives him hope.

“It’s giving people those social bonds… giving everybody the shot at dignity and the shot at being seen in our culture,” he said.

While Republicans like Vice President JD Vance blame “left-wing political radicalization” for recent violence, Maher didn’t mince words in his closing monologue for those arguing the Left is “more approving” of it:

“You keep saying the Left is more approving of political violence – well who do you think that’s going to be aimed at?” Maher asked. “I know it feels exhilarating to make the liberals cry their liberal tears after they made you feel disrespected and looked down on flown over and called the nutty ones. But come on, I thought you were the tough guys. Get over it.”

  • Prosecutors present final witness tying Ryan Routh to Trump’s golf club and gun purchase

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Prosecutors on Friday presented their final witness in the federal trial of Ryan Routh, accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach golf club on Sept. 15, 2024.

FBI Supervisory Special Agent Kimberly McGreevy testified about financial records, phone data, license plate readers and surveillance evidence that traced Routh’s movements from Hawaii to Florida ahead of the assassination attempt.

McGreevy read aloud a handwritten note Routh allegedly left in a box at Lazaro Plata’s home in Greensboro, North Carolina. The note began: “Dear World, .. This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I am so sorry I failed you… it’s up to you now to complete the job.” The letter also mentioned a $150,000 reward. McGreevy testified that bank transfers showed Routh had the money to pay that sum.

Jurors were shown evidence of accounts shared by Routh, his daughter Sara, and his son Adam, including a March 15, 2024 deposit of $162,000 into Sara’s account followed the same day by a $160,000 transfer to another account in her name. McGreevy also displayed alleged Venmo transactions moving money from Sara’s accounts to Ryan Routh.

Prosecutors introduced phone records showing web searches about Trump’s campaign schedule, rally tickets, golf courses, and personal whereabouts. McGreevy said the phones also showed searches for “how many bullets does an SKS rifle hold?” on Sept. 4, 2024, and hundreds of firearm images. One text exchange presented to jurors was between Routh and a contact named Vladmir. After an aerial image was sent, the exchange read:

    Vladimir: “Palm Beach, yours?”

Routh: “Trump’s plane. He gets on and off every day.”

McGreevy testified that Routh’s “home base” between Aug. 14 and Sept. 15, 2024 was the Marathon truck stop in South Bay, Florida. Receipts showed he paid cash for overnight parking there, according to McGreevy.

Body cam footage from a welfare check at the truck stop showed Routh wearing madras-print shorts, later found in his Xterra and seen in airport surveillance when Routh watched Trump’s plane lift off on Sept. 7.

Jurors were also shown license plate reader data placing Routh’s black Nissan Xterra in the Palm Beach area on multiple occasions, including March 29, March 30, March 31, and April 3, 2024. McGreevy said one plate was registered to Sara Routh, another to a different car, and one was unassigned.

Prosecutors also presented a photo taken on one of Routh’s burner phones that showed a map of the 14th hole at Trump’s golf course with multiple pins dropped — and Routh visible in the reflection. They compared it with another photo showing the SKS rifle propped in a tree at the same hole. Nearby, investigators found a 56-ounce Sunny Delight bottle that matched a receipt recovered from Routh’s vehicle.

Inside the courtroom, Routh entered smiling and wore a blue suit coat, white shirt and red striped tie, according to Fox News reporters inside the courtroom. His daughter, Sara, was the only family member present, taking notes. Routh also took notes, occasionally leaned back with one leg propped up and grinned when testimony alleged he paid for hardware supplies in cash.

The trial is set to continue next week, with the defense expected to begin calling its own witnesses after the government rests its case this afternoon.

  • ABC insider hopes liberals take this lesson away from Jimmy Kimmel saga

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

One ABC insider had a message particularly for liberals in the fallout of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” being pulled from the airwaves.

“I hope it teaches the left (and the right that still cares about speech) that the executive branch agencies have waaaaay too much power,” the network staffer told Fox News Digital.

“If you don’t want your political enemy to get to define hate speech, then you don’t want to criminalize hate speech,” they continued. “Same goes for the FCC.”

Neither Disney nor ABC responded to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.

Disney was facing mounting pressure from ABC affiliate stations around the country as well as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over its handling of its liberal late-night host Jimmy Kimmel over his comments about the alleged Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson. A spokesperson for Disney told Fox News Digital “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” would be preempted “indefinitely.”

On Monday, Kimmel suggested Robinson was part of the “MAGA gang” despite reports he had a left-wing ideology, which was later reaffirmed in Tuesday’s indictment.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel told his audience.

Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group had expressed to ABC that it would preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on the affiliate stations they operate unless the Disney-owned network addressed the controversy.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr also threatened ABC and Disney to remedy the situation, saying “we can do this the easy way or the hard way.”

“I’ve been very clear from the moment that I have become chairman of the FCC, I want to reinvigorate the public interest. And what people don’t understand is that the broadcasters, and you’ve gotten this right, are entirely different than people that use other forms of communication. They have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest,” Carr told YouTube host Benny Johnson. “These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or, you know, there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

One broadcast journalist was perplexed by Carr’s demands.

“What does Carr mean when he says it’s our obligation to ensure the FCC has license holders uphold the public interest, who’s going to define that?” they told Fox News Digital. “I imagine what the commander in chief’s definition of the public interest is but it’s crazy.”

  • After backpedaling on threatening rhetoric, Newsom says his political strategy is unchanged

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

California Gov. Gavin Newsom told reporters Charlie Kirk’s assassination has not changed the way he plans to approach campaigning, even after dropping a threatening name for an upcoming anti-Trump campaign.

The rally was originally called the “FAFO50” campaign, a reference to the phrase “F— around and find out,” which is a slang warning meaning “if you keep doing something, you’ll regret it.”

“DONALD TRUMP IS F—— AROUND. NOW HE’LL FIND OUT,” the campaign’s marketing materials read before they were changed, according to archived images of the campaign’s website, as well as screenshots from the campaign’s official X account. The website for the campaign, which is aimed at passing an anti-gerrymandering ballot measure called Proposition 50, was ultimately changed from “FAFO50.com” to “YesOn50Live.com.”

“FAFO” messaging on the campaign’s website and social media account was also removed, and a related event was subsequently referred to as a “Voter Registration Day Rally” on the campaign’s social media.

During an event promoting a new initiative to improve the well-being of young men and boys on Tuesday, Newsom was asked whether the rebrand was part of a changing calculus for the governor on how he intends to approach campaigning going forward.

“No,” Newsom insisted. “Because I’m the same guy that walked on the tarmac with Donald Trump. I’m the same guy that would pick up his phone call. I’m the same person that sat down not just with Charlie Kirk, but with Steve Bannon, with the guy who created this space, you know, ‘Language, Borders and Culture,’ Michael Savage, back in the 90s, you know, was the dominant voice on talk radio. The person that sat down with Newt Gingrich, who was one of the leaders of my recall. I’m that same person.”

Newsom’s response followed a different question about the California governor’s new initiative supporting young men and boys. The governor was asked whether Kirk’s death played any role, or inspired the governor, in shaping the newly announced initiative, which builds on efforts Newsom initiated through a statewide executive order he signed earlier this summer.

“I appreciate the question. I mean, I believe in civility. I believe in an open hand, not a closed fist,” Newsom responded. “I just think, at the end of the day — I said it inside a moment ago — divorce is not an option, period. Full stop. We’ve got to live together, across our differences, and there are a lot of differences in this state, this nation, for that matter, the world we’re trying to build.”

The nature of political discourse in the United States has become a major point of debate following Kirk’s assassination that occurred last week. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have called on others to “turn down the heat” in the wake of Kirk’s assassination.

NEWSOM WARNS AMERICANS ‘YOU WILL LOSE YOUR COUNTRY’ UNDER TRUMP AT CALIFORNIA SUMMIT

The Trump administration’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) put out a call for “the media, leftist groups, and sanctuary politicians” on Wednesday to tone down the “hateful rhetoric” targeting immigration enforcement officers, arguing it has contributed to “political violence in our country and a more than 1000% increase in assaults against our brave ICE law enforcement.”

“This demonization is inspiring violence across the country,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin warned. “We have to turn down the temperature before someone else is killed.”

One example cited by DHS were comments by Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, a member of the cohort of progressive lawmakers on Capitol Hill known as “the squad.” During an interview with MSNBC on Sunday, Crockett likened ICE officers to slave catchers. “As someone who understands history, when I see ICE, I see slave patrols,” Crockett said.

Meanwhile, rhetoric from Newsom’s “Voter Registration Day Rally” similarly likened Republican-led redistricting efforts to “pre-Jim Crow” era policies.

“It’s about knowing that you can walk outside your home and not be detained and deported, not be lynched, because of the color of your skin,” California state legislator, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, said during the Tuesday night virtual rally promoting her state’s Proposition 50. “[Republicans] are doing every single thing that they can to take us back to pre-Jim Crow. And I am not being hyperbolic.”

Fox News Digital did not receive a response after reaching out to Newsom’s office and campaign team to see if the governor, or any of his representatives, wanted to comment further about the decision to rebrand Tuesday night’s event promoting Proposition 50 and the broader issue of inflammatory political rhetoric following Kirk’s assassination.

  • Charlie Kirk’s loss is personal. Here’s how he gave me hope and strength

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The news of Charlie Kirk’s killing at Utah Valley University last Wednesday shocked me to the core. It left a profound void in my heart and in the hearts of many others.

As the founder of Project H.O.O.D., I mourn not just a conservative titan but a friend, a supporter and a brother in the fight for a better America. The Charlie I knew was more than a political voice — he was a man of action, conviction and a devout Christian whose generosity reached far beyond the headlines.

I know because I was one of those he blessed with his time and resources. He never sought the public limelight for his good deeds, and I kept silent as well — until now. With his departure from this earth to our Heavenly Father, his good works deserve to be known.

I first met Charlie, a Chicago native, in the early days of Project H.O.O.D., when both of our visions — his Turning Point USA and my mission to transform the South Side — were just taking root. He was so young then, barely 18, yet his drive and clarity of purpose were undeniable. He knew why he was put on this Earth, and he lived with a passion that touched me, a wiser man two decades older.

YOUTH LEADERS MOURN ‘THE GODFATHER OF CAMPUS CONSERVATISM’ CHARLIE KIRK FOLLOWING ASSASSINATION

Charlie didn’t just talk about change — he built it. He saw in Project H.O.O.D. a shared commitment to a better America, and he offered guidance, shared insights and connected us with incredible supporters who believed in our mission to provide opportunity and hope to those society often overlooks.

His donations to our galas were generous, but it was his personal encouragement — those text messages saying, “Keep going, Pastor, we’re with you” — that meant the world. Charlie had a gift for making you feel seen and valued, no matter how big or small your role in the fight.

Charlie was set to join us in Washington, D.C., for a major fundraiser, a moment I was very much looking forward to since I hadn’t seen him in a while. He was ready to walk alongside us for that leg of our Walk Across America, to lend his voice and platform to lift up those who need it most. That he was taken from us before that day is a tragedy that cuts deep. His death is a stark reminder of the risks we face when we dare to speak boldly, challenge the status quo and stand for what we believe.

FOX NEWS PERSONALITIES OFFER EMOTIONAL TRIBUTES TO CHARLIE KIRK: ‘HE LOVED AMERICA SO MUCH’

As someone in the same arena — fighting for change in a world that can be hostile to truth — I feel Charlie’s loss on a personal level.

His killing forces us to confront the growing threats against those who speak out. But Charlie’s life teaches us that fear cannot win.

CHARLIE KIRK WAS PROUD CHAMPION OF CHRISTIANITY ON CAMPUSES NATIONWIDE: ‘I’M NOTHING WITHOUT JESUS’

He faced opposition with courage, never shying away from the hard conversations or the cultural battles that defined his work. He built Turning Point USA into a movement that inspired millions of young people to embrace conservative values, not through fear but through hope, reason and unrelenting passion.

Charlie Kirk’s killing forces us to confront the growing threats against those who speak out. But his life teaches us that fear cannot win.

The Bible tells us in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Charlie may not have chosen to lay down his life, but he lived it in service to others: his family, his country and the countless young people he inspired.

His death is a call to action for all of us. We cannot let fear silence us. We cannot let violence dim the light of truth.

Charlie’s legacy demands that we press forward, honor him by continuing the work he championed — building communities, fostering hope and standing firm in our convictions.

When I heard of the shooting, I went to X, and the first thing I saw was a post by his wife, Erika: “Psalm 46:1 — God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

In a moment of unimaginable loss, her choice of verse reminds us that even when life feels shattered, God remains a refuge and strength. This emphasizes that in grief, faith does not erase pain but anchors us when everything feels unsteady.

Charlie Kirk’s death is a call to action for all of us. We cannot let fear silence us. We cannot let violence dim the light of truth.

To his wife, Erika, and their two young children, I offer my deepest condolences. Charlie was a devoted husband and father. His family, friends and the Turning Point USA community know that Charlie’s impact will live on through the lives he touched and the movements he built.

  • Why blaming ‘the left’ is easier than deterring violence after Charlie Kirk’s murder

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

President Donald Trump is rejecting suggestions that right-wing extremism is a problem.

“Well, the problem is on the left,” Trump told reporters outside Air Force One.

“The problem is on the left if you look at the problem — it’s not on the right like some people like to say, on the right. The problem we have is on the left. When you look at the agitators, you look at the scum that speaks so badly of our country, the American flag burnings all over the place, that’s the left, that’s not the right.”

CHARLIE KIRK’S ALLEGED ASSASSIN ‘TAKEN OVER’ BY LEFTIST IDEOLOGY WHILE FBI PROBES WIDER PLOT: BONGINO

One reporter asked whether he planned to investigate.

“They’re already under investigation. They’re already under major investigation. A lot of the people that you would traditionally say are on the left.”

No matter how the question is framed, Trump sticks to his partisan analysis, as he did on “Fox & Friends”: “Radicals on the left are the problem. and they are vicious and horrible and politically savvy. They want men in women’s sports, they want transgender for everyone, open borders.”

The contrast with Utah’s Republican governor, Spencer Cox, could not be starker.

Cox, who made the Sunday show rounds, says the country has to find an off-ramp from the current surge in political violence in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s murder.  There has to be a way to lower the temperature, he said.

Democrats from Barack Obama on down, to their credit, are denouncing the assassination as unacceptable, even if they disagreed with some or all of what Kirk stood for.

What’s striking is the ripple effect on everyone else.

Newsday had to apologize for an abominable cartoon.

The sketch showed an empty chair, with blood behind it, and the repeated phrase “Prove Me Wrong” — a frequent Kirk saying — with an arrow pointing to Turning Point USA.

The Long Island paper called the cartoon “insensitive and offensive…We deeply regret this mistake and sincerely apologize to the family of Charlie Kirk and to all,” saying it’s been deleted online. But how does something that bad get approved?

Fox News, citing 10 sources, said the White House and Pam Bondi have lost confidence in Kash Patel. The FBI director stumbled in announcing that a suspect was in custody, only to see that person released as the wrong man. Patel says his tweet that the “subject” of the shooting was “in custody,” could have “been worded a little better.”

There were warning signs when Missouri’s attorney general was brought in with the same rank as Patel’s deputy, Dan Bongino, and Fox says he made clear he would not have left that job to serve as Patel’s number two.

Kari Lake, who runs the U.S. Agency for Global Media, said at a vigil for Kirk that the college that the accused shooter attended for one semester had “brainwashed” him.

“I am making a plea to mothers,” said Lake, who twice failed in bids for office in Arizona. “Do not send your children into these indoctrination camps.”

Lake added that her daughter didn’t go to college, instead working for Kirk.

Four years ago, the suspect went to Utah State University as a pre-engineering major.

And he was sufficiently, uh, brainwashed in 2021 that he decided to kill Kirk last week?

UTAH PROSECUTORS PREPARE POTENTIAL DEATH PENALTY CASE AGAINST CHARLIE KIRK SUSPECT TYLER JAMES ROBINSON

Look, finger-pointing politics has been going on for a very long time. When President Clinton blamed Rush Limbaugh for the Oklahoma City bombing, I wrote the front-page story. When the New York Times blamed Sarah Palin for the wounding of Gabby Giffords (and the death of six others) – because of a political map with crosshairs that the killer never saw – a top editor told me I was wrong but later admitted I’d been right.

And when the guy who badly wounded Steve Scalise at a Republican baseball practice was revealed to be a regular Rachel Maddow watcher, liberals jumped on that one.

So it is with the 22-year-old Kirk murder suspect and the pointless search for motive.

Is it relevant that the alleged shooter is living with a transgender man who is becoming a woman? Sure. But anyone who would plot to kill Charlie Kirk for political reasons is by definition insane, as are all these nutjob school shooters.

It’s also true, by the way, that the constant attacks on the president — the survivor of two assassination attempts — as Hitler and worse foster an atmosphere in which another attack is more likely.

But wait, there’s a final guilt-by-association maneuver going on.

We see it when Elon Musk immediately tweets “the left is the party of murder.” We see it when Spencer Cox calls social media a “cancer.”

The social media point may well be true, but we can’t put that genie back in the lamp.

By blaming “the left,” the X owner and others are depicting everyone who has liberal viewpoints as culpable, even if they never heard of Charlie Kirk, even if they are shocked and appalled by his murder.

    And that’s just, well, crazy.

  • Charlie Kirk’s friend urges mourners to ‘go back to church’ following activist’s killing

Worldwide vigils have taken place following the killing of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. His close friend Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show” podcast, is urging mourners to remember him as he believes Kirk would have wanted.

“I want Charlie to be remembered for his great faith because that’s how he wanted to be remembered, for his courage and his faith,” Kolvet said Sunday on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed Wednesday on a Utah college campus. He leaves behind his wife Erika and two young children.

Much of his work focused on reviving what he saw as the traditional American family, a mission rooted in his Christian faith

Kolvet urged supporters to channel their grief into that same commitment.

“If you [want to] honor Charlie today, it is Sunday… go back to church, open your Bible, pray, ask God to lead you. That’s what he wanted,” he said.

Vigils for Kirk have sprung up across the country, including at Turning Point USA campus chapters, on Capitol Hill, and even overseas. Demonstrators at a previously scheduled march in London carried pictures and banners of Kirk.

Turning Point USA announced it will hold a public memorial for Kirk next weekend at the Arizona Cardinals’ stadium. The venue can host over 70,000 people.

Kolvet said the worldwide response since Kirk’s death reflects his message’s authenticity.

“The reason he resonated, I believe, so widely and so broadly across the world… is because he himself was good. A message sown across the world out of a place of integrity and honesty and decency,” said Kolvet.

“You can’t emulate that. You can fake that. And it comes through. People can see just how straightforward and honest and good he was.”

Kolvet said the peaceful nature of the memorials have been especially meaningful to Kirk’s family, staff, and friends.

“The people that loved him most, they’re not rioting. They’re not burning down cities or businesses. They are praying, they’re lighting candles in his honor, and they’re expressing the grief that they feel, that we all feel, in their own way,” he said.

  • Charlie Kirk’s close friend reveals what he would be ‘proudest of’ while reflecting on legacy

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A close friend and colleague of Charlie Kirk says the conservative leader and media star “was one of one” and doubts he’ll ever be replaced.

But asked about a void in the conservative movement, Andy Surabian, who’s a top political adviser to both Vice President JD Vance and Donald Trump Jr., told Fox News Digital that Kirk “inspired a generation of young conservatives who have the potential to grow into being somebody like Charlie Kirk.”

Kirk, who was shot and killed this past Wednesday during a college campus event in Utah, was a top conservative activist, culture warrior, and media rockstar for millions of MAGA and right-wing followers.

A crucial ally to President Donald Trump, Vance, and Donald Trump Jr., Kirk transformed the Turning Point USA conservative youth organization that he co-founded at age 18 into an extremely influential political powerhouse and a voter turnout machine for Trump in last year’s presidential election.

“I don’t think there’s any singular person who will ever replace Charlie Kirk,” Surabian said.

But pointing to Kirk’s inspiration to a generation of younger conservatives, Surabian said, “This is the thing that Charlie would be proudest of, it’s the thing that makes me so proud of Charlie.”

UTAH’S GOVERNOR REVEALS POSSIBLE MOTIVE IN CHARLIE KIRK SHOOTING

Surabian said he and Kirk first met in 2018 and quickly became “generational piers.”

“We would constantly gut check things with each other….both of us respected the political instincts of the other,” Surabian said. “There was an implicit trust.”

In a social media post, Surabian wrote that he and Kirk “bonded quickly over our similar political views and closeness in age, and ultimately developed a close friendship. We always had each other’s back. If I needed help, I knew he would always be there for me. If he needed anything, I was always there for him. If there was a candidate for office he vouched for, that was all I needed. If there was a candidate for office I vouched for, that was all he needed.”

Surabian said Kirk was the person who introduced him to Vance, ahead of Vance’s successful 2022 campaign for the Senate in Ohio.

“I was skeptical, but since Charlie was vouching for him, I was on the phone with JD within the hour. 90 minutes later, after JD and I had hit it off and decided to work together, Charlie excitedly told me I wouldn’t regret it — and he was certainly right about that,” Surabian wrote.

Speaking with Fox News, Surabian listed off Kirks’ numerous political attributes.

“Charlie was a terrific fundraiser. He was beloved by donors. Charlie was extremely charismatic and was extremely impressive in debates. Charlie was very talented at doing media. He was a great talk show host. Charlie understood how to organize students. Charlie understood messaging and how to deliver a message in a way that even some of the top PR experts in the country couldn’t touch with a 10-point pole. Charlie understood how to organize in politics. Very rarely do figures come along who can put all those things together the way Charlie put it together,” Surabian highlighted.

“Never mind the fact that, in addition to all that stuff, he was highly intelligent. And most important of all, he was a fundamentally decent person,” Surabian added.

While Kirk had already accomplished much by age 31, Surabian predicted that his friend would have had many chapters to come.

“Despite how influential he became, despite how famous he was, I do absolutely believe that he was still at the start of his rise and not at the end of it,” he said.

And Surabian said that Kirk “was getting to a place where in a few years I think he had the potential to be the next Rush Limbaugh, and when I say that, anyone who understands the influence that Rush Limbaugh had on the conservative movement knows what a big statement that is.”

Vice President JD Vance walked alongside the casket of Charlie Kirk on Thursday evening, marking the beginning of a series of solemn tributes to the conservative figure.

Escorted across the tarmac in Salt Lake City, Utah, by a military pallbearer detail, Kirk’s casket will travel aboard Air Force Two, returning him to his home state of Arizona. A video of the moment showed his wife Erika Frantzve visibly emotional as the casket passed before her.

Upon arriving in Phoenix, Frantzve deplaned Air Force Two while holding the hand of second lady Usha Vance. His casket was transported to Hansen Memorial Chapel. Kirk will be buried in Arizona and President Donald Trump said he will attend the funeral.

Trump told reporters on Thursday evening that he believed that Kirk’s funeral would be held “next weekend” adding that he would attend.

The revelation comes as federal authorities continue to search for the suspect that assassinated Kirk during an outdoor event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday’s event, the first in what was supposed to be a series Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback Tour,” was nothing out of the ordinary. Kirk, the charismatic founder of the nation’s conservative youth activist group, gained recognition for his signature political debates on college campuses.

During a press conference on Thursday, authorities say the suspect “blended in well with a college institution.” In a photo later released by law enforcement, the individual is seen wearing a hat, sunglasses, and an American flag T-shirt with an eagle on it.

The FBI appealed for more public tips, photos, and videos to help piece together the string of events that led to Kirk’s death.

“We truly rely on the public’s help in these types of cases. No tip is too small or too insignificant,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls said Thursday.

Individuals with relevant information can submit via an online page on the FBI’s website. The one-page form requests contact details, a description of what was submitted, and the files themselves.

  • WATCH: Dems and Republicans clash on House floor following moment of silence for Charlie Kirk

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A moment of silence for Charlie Kirk on the House floor Wednesday devolved into a shouting match after a Republican representative demanded a prayer be said out loud for the conservative who was shot earlier in the day.

As lawmakers stood silently in a mostly filled House of Representatives chamber during a moment of silence for the conservative who was shot and killed at Utah Valley University during an on-campus event Wednesday, Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert demanded a spoken prayer.

“Please rise for a moment of prayer for Charlie Kirk and his family,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said. Lawmakers obliged for several seconds, before returning to regular order. However, once that started to happen, Boebert spoke up.

“Silent prayers get silent results,” Boebert said. She could also be heard asking for a prayer to be said “out loud.”

The Colorado Republican’s comments resulted in shouts from Democrats. Some reportedly began shouting back about how Republicans had ignored a school shooting that happened Wednesday as well, according to the New York Times.

Meanwhile, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., stood up and began shouting back. “You all caused this,” she said.

Speaker Johnson attempted to quell the crowd multiple times, banging his gavel and asking for order. Eventually, he said: “We will join for prayer right after this, OK?”

Kirk was shot in the neck while speaking to a sizable crowd at Utah Value University, located in Orem, Utah, from underneath a tent in the middle of the school’s outdoor quad. Kirk was transported to a local hospital, but was later pronounced dead. He was at the university for an event as part of Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback Tour” that launched this spring.

  • Ex-MSNBC host Joy Reid revives conspiracy about ‘alleged’ Trump assassination attempt

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Ex-MSNBC host Joy Reid said Tuesday that the public knows “nothing” about President Donald Trump’s injuries after what she called the “alleged” assassination attempt against him during a Pennsylvania rally last year.

The former “ReidOut” host appeared on her old MSNBC colleague Katie Phang’s YouTube channel where she criticized the media’s coverage of Trump’s health over the last week. As an example, she argued that the media “can’t even ask” questions about the first assassination attempt against Trump during his time as a candidate.

“He’s got these magical doctors who claimed that he was shot in the ear, but his ear, I guess, grew back,” Reid remarked. “He had a Dukal bandage on one minute, no bandage the next. We can’t get a medical record from this alleged assassination. He was supposedly shot. We have nothing. We’ve got no—we can’t even ask.”

JOY REID SUGGESTS TRUMP COULDN’T ‘AVOID THE CONSEQUENCES’ OF HIS OWN RHETORIC AFTER ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

Phang interjected, “Where are the investigative records? One day, he slapped a Maxi Pad on his ear. The next day, the ear is totally fine.”

“It’s fine!” Reid exclaimed. “I remember being in mainstream media where we both used to work, saying, ‘Isn’t it odd that we’ve never asked for his medical records?’ And I got in trouble for that. So you’re not allowed to even say, ‘Isn’t that weird?’”

Reid suggested that she knew more about past political assassination attempts against former Presidents Gerald Ford and William McKinley than she does about the more recent attempt against Trump.

“We’re getting nothing. And the mainstream media isn’t demanding his medical records. They’re not demanding anything. They’re terrified of this man,” Reid said.

MSNBC’S JOY REID BLAMES MAGA REPUBLICANS FOR ‘ACTUAL VIOLENCE’ IN LIGHT OF TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

Reid questioned Trump’s injuries just days after the shooting, suggesting that he was hit by glass instead of a bullet.

“I have many questions! Like where are the medical reports? What caused Trump’s injury and what was the injury? Sheapnel? [sic] Glass? A bullet? Where were the three attendees who were shot seated or standing relative to Trump? Why was Trump allowed to stand and pose for photos, fist pumping for nearly ten seconds while asking about his shoe when there could easily have been additional shooters?” Reid wrote in a post on Threads in 2024.

“How did the gunman manage to get on the roof of the building WHERE THE LOCAL POLICE WERE LITERALLY INSIDE?” she asked.
