  • I Rarely Wear Black Jeans, But I’m Changing My Tune After Seeing These Outfits

I Rarely Wear Black Jeans, But I’m Changing My Tune After Seeing These Outfits

    [ad_1]

I was (fashionably) late to the jean party. My first foray into pants was experimenting with my mom’s old stirrup leggings, but beyond that, dresses and skirts were strictly my jam. Anything with separate legs felt restrictive and as far as hemlines were concerned, the shorter the better.

That all changed when I discovered vintage in high school. Turned onto the “joy of the hunt” by a friend, I became addicted to the adrenaline rush of discovering one-of-a-kind pieces. My previous grievances against pants were quickly forgotten when I fell for a pair of perfectly worn-in Levi’s. This was holy grail denim: buttery soft, slightly androgynous, and in the most perfect sky blue wash. I was hooked, and my repertoire expanded quickly: frayed cutoffs in lieu of miniskirts, indigo bootcut jeans over slip dresses. My sweaters were set aside in favor of oversized, distressed denim jackets. I’d turned into a true blue-jean baby.

Denim still factors heavily in my closet. I’m in jeans almost every day. Recently, I crossed over to the dark side. Black jeans create a totally different look, and I was keen to switch things up. Revamping my denim drawer made me feel like I was in high school again, chasing a high through different cuts and washes. If you’ve recently fallen into a denim rut, read on to revitalize your black denim spark.

I Saved a Ton of Outfit Ideas This Year—These 8 Are the Ones I Actually Tried

    [ad_1]

Despite my best efforts, I am a 34928-tabs-open-at-all-times kinda gal. The alternative might mean banishing any fun finds to purgatory, i.e. my “favorites” (yeah, right) folder. The risk of that seven-layer chocolate cake recipe, DIY hair mask, and article about the health benefits of a nightly glass of red wine (important!) never seeing the light of day again is too high.

My Instagram saves are a different story. Here, there is a method to my madness. Call me Dame Dewey Decimal. I found most of my wedding vendors, brush up on my French, and discover new beauty hacks via long scrolling sessions.

Having all this inspiration at my fingertips has also helped break me out of a closet rut. I’ve been guilty of “hating everything in my closet” more times than I can count, when I’m really just a reconfiguration or single item away from a whole new vibe. Scroll along for the ‘fits that caught my eye—and that you’ll hopefully be inspired to test-drive in the New Year. (You know the saying—new year, new…)

Don’t Judge Me: This One Type of Skinny Jeans Is Still Cool and Chic

    [ad_1]

Like a certain once-beloved apricot exfoliator, skinny jeans seem to have developed a bad reputation. If you balked at clicking on this article, I get it. Skinny jeans seem downright passé compared to the other myriad of denim options on the market. But hear me out: Sleeping on this style may mean missing out on a highly versatile category of bottoms.

Think of Audrey Hepburn in a turtleneck and topknot. An effortless French woman like Emmanuelle Alt breezing past in a Breton-stripe top. Evergreen Itgirl Kate Moss slinking around London in yet another flawless outfit. What do these looks have in common? All three are anchored by black skinny jeans, cropped at the ankle. The look is equal parts sophisticated, chic, and cool.

  • The 6 Items French Girls Wear to Stay Warm and Still Look Cool

The 6 Items French Girls Wear to Stay Warm and Still Look Cool

    [ad_1]

Les Francaises have a knack for making everything look as easy as un, deux, trois. From their no-makeup makeup to the breathy way they draw out their ouis, French women seem to have being effortless cornered. This is particularly true in winter, when looking cute can feel like a Herculean task. Even at subzero temperatures, French women move about unbothered, which felt novel to this Californian; the last thing I feel like doing when it’s cold and gray out is putting together a look.

But the French have it down to a science! This is partly due to how they shop. French women typically invest in a few good pieces per season, favoring timeless pieces over au courant trends. A well-cut coat. Sticking to long-lasting durable fabrics that drape well. After my first winter in Paris, I picked up a few tips to make cold-weather dressing more fun—as well as a shearling coat and pair of camel riding boots that I still own today (after all, practice makes perfect.)

Follow along, and we’ll meet at the intersection of cozy and chic.

Basics are essential items to any wardrobe, mostly because they’re so versatile. They can be paired with other items (including statement pieces and other basics) no matter your personal style. If you find yourself scrambling to put outfits together even though you own a wardrobe full of clothes, it may be time to invest in some reliable basics such as tank tops, shirts, and dress pants. Owning some of these staples is also essential if you are looking to build a capsule wardrobe, a tightly edited selection of clothing that will last and can be worn for any occasion.

Just because they are called basics doesn’t mean these items have to be boring. A simple tank top can be designed in a variety of cuts, styles, and colorways. • These 3 Ankle-Boot Styles Feel Trendy But Are Actually Timeless

These 3 Ankle-Boot Styles Feel Trendy But Are Actually Timeless

    [ad_1]

Lean in a little closer. I have a secret to share: I’ve been rinsing and repeating the same pair of black Chloé ankle boots for seven years now, and I’m not planning on stopping anytime soon. They’re my emotional support boots. Facing a long day on set? The boots are packed. Need a little height boost but not feeling a heel? She’s strapping on the boots. Going on vacation? They’ll go with everything (save for a bikini). I’ve had them re-soled once or twice, but beyond that, they look and feel as good as new. They’ve practically paid for themselves at this point!

A good ankle boot is like the Swiss Army knife of fashion. A sleek leather pair will instantly dress up jeans, while a more rugged style will add edge to a frilly dress. They’re also a great transition piece between seasons, when their knee-high cousins are getting stowed away. But with so many styles to choose from, which ones will stand the test of time like my faithful Chloé pair?

Truth be told, I didn’t anticipate them lasting as long as they did. Certain styles may feel trendy in the moment but in reality will last you several seasons. Lucky for you, I’ve lassoed a roundup of foolproof pairs to fill that ankle-boot gap in your closet (and heart).

  • How To Dress Like GQ’s Most Stylish Man Of 2022: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

How To Dress Like GQ’s Most Stylish Man Of 2022: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

    [ad_1]

Each year, GQ rounds up 16 of the year’s most in-demand, handsomely dressed men and then asks you – dear reader – vote for The One. It’s the March-Madness-Bracket for fashion magazine fans and superfans alike. This year’s choice was Oklahoma City Thunder star player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

This year’s GQ Sweet 16 featured some of the most fashionable men you can conjour: Adam Sandler – king of dad fashion, Austin Butler, new fatherA$AP Rocky, and rapper Kendrick Lamar. With previous winners being Harry Styles in 2020, and Tyler, The Creator in 2021, SGA fits right in.

But if you don’t know Shai, he’s one of the NBA’s leading scorers averaging 31 points per game and is hailed for his clutch game-winning shots.

    GQ

Of course, he’s also making a name for himself in the fashion world. Back in June, SGA was voted the NBA’s most stylish man by GQ. He was the face of the Louis Vuitton x NBA Collection. Alexander can rock a puffer vest like nobody else. And is not afraid of a statement piece like a leather vest or pair of baggy cargoes.

His main fashion statement? No shirt under the jacket. Works every time.

    As GQ puts it:

“No young hooper is as committed to the mission of NBA style. And none is quite as adventurous, either. And while on the court SGA has experienced his first flush of genuine superstardom, he’s still making sure to flex off of the hardwood, too. What’s the fashion equivalent of averaging 30 points per game?”

I Get Compliments Every Single Time I Wear These 3 Under-$100 Items

We all own that one piece of clothing we can’t get enough of, whether it’s a pair of jeans you can always rely on for a flattering outfit or the winter essentials you can’t live without as soon as the temperature drops. Some items just have that special quality that make them essentials and also compliment magnets from friends or strangers. And let’s be real: Getting complimented on an outfit or a piece of clothing feels amazing, especially when you’ve put effort into a specific look.

I zeroed in on three pieces of clothing I’ve been complimented on frequently, which have now become go-tos when putting outfits together. Faux leather is one of them. There’s something inherently sleek and fashionable when it comes to faux leather. We often think of pants or jackets, but there are so many options to choose from. Such versatility can also be found in knitwear (which has become a personal favorite in recent months). A good knit, whether it’s a maxi dress or a bustier top, makes any outfit stand out while keeping you cozy. You’ll also find various options when it comes to denim. It’s versatile and timeless, and I am convinced there’s a style of denim for everyone.

  • Fire Up Your Grill: Dad Fashion Has Taken Over 2022

Fire Up Your Grill: Dad Fashion Has Taken Over 2022

    [ad_1]

When you were growing up, did you ever think there would be a time when you’d emulate your dad’s style? Well, it’s 2022 and anything goes now. In fact, The Cut has declared that “everyone is dressing like a dad now.”

Men and women alike have come together to dress as paternal as possible this year. Think mid-length cutoff jean shorts, puffer vests, sweater vests, basketball shorts, polos. Super high waisted wide leg pants that are borderline grandpa-chic are all the rage right now.

The “Adam Sandler” has been popularized: bermuda shorts, oversized polo t-shirt – comfy, shapeless, casual. Socks with sandals and baseball caps. Looking like you just rolled out of bed to take out the trash is in.

Dad fashion has slowly adapted into our everyday look. We’ve even seen the revival of the “Dad Shoe,” with New Balance heavily campaigning the slogan. Not far behind is the return of Asics, Crocs, and other father favorites.

    New Balance

You once mocked your dad for his favorite pair of cargo shorts, but the rise of both Dad Style and Y2K fashion have proven cargo pants are hot on the market. It turns out your father and your grandfather’s closet is the trendiest place to shop right now.

Dad fashion is effortless. It’s about wearing an oversized zip-up hoodie and, as any dad would say, “not giving a hoot.” Hike your socks up to mid-calf and the world is your runway.

It can be seen in Emily Ratajkowski’s favorite puffer jacket and Harry Styles’ suspenders. Surely the likes of Bella Hadid can make anything look cool while rocking the more extreme version of Dad Fash, but that doesn’t mean we can’t incorporate a more subtle approach into our everyday style.

    Bella Hadid

    Erik Pendzich/Shutterstock

There’s nothing more refreshing than not having to actively fight your clothes all night long. Your jeans can’t squeeze you to death if they barely touch your body, and your shirt won’t come apart if it’s an oversized tee. How can your feet be sore if you’re in a pair of sturdy New Balances?

If there’s anything that we must do, it’s keep the paternal influence in our style moving into 2023. Here are some pieces that are reminiscent of off-duty golf dads and little league coaches, but equally stylish.

    Patagonia Better Sweater Fleece Vest

Nothing says “dad’s night out” quite like the fleece vest. I love wearing this over a sweatshirt in the colder months or with a plain turtleneck. It’s versatile and all genders will love it.

Frame High Rise Denim Bermuda Shorts

What I love about bermuda shorts is the mitigation of chub rub. They don’t ride up whatsoever, and my inner thighs rejoice at the comfort these shorts bring me.

    Levi’s 501 ’90s Jeans

One of the first things to pop up when you Google “Dad Jeans” are these Levi’s. To achieve the dad look, no part of the denim can cling to your body. Your waistband holds you up and that’s it.

    New Balance 2002R

Dads and TikTokers alike will agree these New Balances are hot. They keep your feet comfortable and your outfit on point.

  • Online fashion retailer Asos, once a stock market darling, is in talks with lenders about hiring a restructuring expert

Online fashion retailer Asos, once a stock market darling, is in talks with lenders about hiring a restructuring expert

    [ad_1]

Struggling online fashion retailer Asos Plc and its lenders are discussing whether to hire a restructuring expert following the departure of its chief financial officer.

A number of turnaround professionals held informal talks about a role, which would sit below executive level, but no decision has been made, according to people familiar with the matter.

Asos’s lenders include Barclays, HSBC and Lloyds Banking Group. The banks are being advised by AlixPartners and Clifford Chance. Any appointment could potentially provide further support to Asos as it seeks to revive its fortunes after a steep drop in performance since the pandemic.

Asos, advised by PJT Partners Inc. and EY, is experiencing a tumultuous period as consumer demand is waning and costs are rising, thanks to a spike in wages and energy. Product returns are also surging.

AlixPartners and Asos declined to comment.

Asos has installed a new chairman and chief executive in the last 18 months and its chief operating and chief financial officer, recently left. Interim finance head Katy Mecklenburgh resigned about a week ago and will join Softcat in the spring. The talks with Asos’s lenders were prompted after Mecklenburgh’s departure was announced, and continued into last week.

Although the retailer successfully renegotiated the terms of its £350 million ($429 million) revolving credit facility in October, the extension only lasts until 2024 and Asos will need to renew discussions with lenders on the loan again next year.

Chief Executive Officer Jose Antonio Ramos Calamonte said in October that free cash flow this fiscal year would be zero at best and that the company would report a loss in the first half. Asos said its international operations were lagging expectations and cited problems with its supply chain. It also pledged to “strengthen” its leadership team.

In response to its challenges, the company is writing off as much as £130 million of stock, cutting costs and slowing automation in its warehouses. The retailer is also trying to drive the better performing parts of its business, such as its popular Topshop brand whose sales rose 105% in fiscal 2022.

It is relatively common for lenders to seek to bolster the financial department of companies in the event of a refinance.

Founded in north London in 2000 by Nick Robertson and his brother with a small amount of seed capital, Asos was for many years a stock market darling amid rising sales and profits. That has changed, however, with the stock losing nearly 76% since the start of this year.

Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group Plc, which has bought a number of smaller retailers this year, including tailor Gieves & Hawkes, has increased its stake in Asos to just above 5%.

  • 2022 Winter Fashion Trends That Are Selling Out As We Speak

2022 Winter Fashion Trends That Are Selling Out As We Speak

    [ad_1]

It’s officially December so it’s time to accept that we are in the thick of the winter season. I tried to put it off for as long as possible, but unfortunately I need a jacket from the moment I step outside.

I prefer summer clothing because I can never dress appropriately in the cold. Too many layers and I’m suffocating when indoors, too few and I’m hypothermic. Seriously, how do you win?

It’s even harder for me to debut a fashionable outfit if I’m going to cling to my jacket all night long. Even if I take it off, it’s spending the night wrapped around my waist Soccer Mom style. It’s not like it matters anyway. I’m normally layered in sweaters and long sleeves paired with knit flowy pants – shapeless.

Sure I’m more comfortable without an ounce of clothing clinging to my body, but after a while I forget how to even dress myself. And that’s why I have been paying very close attention to this 2022’s winter fashion trends. I pore over TikToks and peruse Vogue in my free time so I can catch a trend early and capitalize.

It’s not just to get ahead of the trend, but to get ahead of the heartbreak when I go to purchase and it says SOLD OUT.

There’s nothing worse than falling in love with clothing for nothing. For the 2022 fall fashion trends, we saw mini UGGs, Birks, and equestrian style. Winter is going to look a bit different.

If you want some winter fashion tips before you get all of that Christmas money, we’re in this together. Here’s what’s in my cart:

    Apres-Ski Chic

Perhaps the most prevalent trend is the Post-Ski-Heading-To-Party look. Think fair isle sweaters and sherpa pullover quarter zips. It’s all about the Aspen vibes.

We’re seeing the rise of winter accessories paired with cropped puffer jackets. The earmuff has swapped out our favorite pair of over-the-ear headphones, and people are opting for the baclava-style scarf as a style statement.

Perfect for days where you’re spending more than an hour outdoors, the Apres Ski look is equally warm and stylish. To achieve this look, here are my recs:

    All Lace Everything

    With the popularity of
Wednesday on Netflix, everyone is emulating Jenna Ortega’s style. A high-neck lace long sleeve paired with leather flare pants and you have yourself a Wednesday-approved outfit.

The best way to ensure your lace stays in style for years to come is picking the most basic style that you can dress up or down. My fave basic lace pieces are:

    Statement Peacoats

The peacoat is the ultimate jacket to wear with your nice outfits, but it even looks good with a sweat set. People are sporting all types of peacoats, but the most popular ones seems to be the plaid.

Make a statement with your peacoat. Fur trimmed, bright colored, patterned. It’s your way to say “the outfit underneath is just as great” (even if it’s not). But, seriously, let your peacoat do the talking for you this year.

    Midi Lengths

Wearing a sundress in the winter isn’t an option. Believe me, I’ve tried to make it work. If you think a maxi dress is too formal, the midi length will give you both coverage and a little bit of skin. The perfect balance.

The midi dress is great for your date night, brunch outing, or anything in between. And how lucky are you to be able to pair it with an aforementioned peacoat! Any shoe complements the midi dress – even a sneaker.

    Collared Sweater

It seems like this year’s biggest sweater trend is the take on the rugby polo. Throw a collar on any knit sweater and I guarantee you it’s both studious and trendy.

I’m always sitting in a sweater, so this has to be my easiest purchase on this list. When styling your collared sweater, think flare jeans for a bit of contrast and a nod to the ever-popular ‘70’s style.

    Cute Bombers

If you’re looking for a “going out” jacket this winter that still gives your outfit some flare: enter the bomber jacket. Try out fun statement sleeves, a bold texture like leathers, or sherpas, or even just a classic color. Remember, your jacket may be the only thing people are seeing that day, so make it count!

A bomber is the Cool Girl jacket this 2022 winter. Hang it off your shoulders for an unbothered queen appearance or shrug it around your elbows to show off your top. It’s slouchy and casual yet gives the right amount of spice to your fit.

  • These Are the Best Plus-Size Stores, Hands Down

These Are the Best Plus-Size Stores, Hands Down

    [ad_1]

Body inclusivity is no longer an extra asset that brands throw on their marketing techniques. It’s a default—a prerequisite for fashion brands to expand their sizes to ensure that all people have the opportunity to feel stylish, beautiful, and at their best. A clothing store without plus-size options is reminiscent of a makeup brand without foundation that caters to different skin tones. And even though fashion continues to exhibit signs of progression, there is obviously still so much more work to do. However, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to shopping for plus sizes. Most people are unaware of the unseen labor that goes into it. Contrary to their straight-size counterparts, those above a 14 don’t necessarily have the option of just popping into a Zara to find a last-minute outfit. There is a ton more research, online browsing, added-on shipping prices, and annoying returns that go into shopping for plus-size options. And if you’re looking for trendy, fashion-forward brands, the task is even harder.  On top of everything, brands will oftentimes slap the “plus-size” label on a few pieces that seem to be the crumbs of what’s usually offered. But beyond these obstacles are clothing stores that are catering to these needs—with flying colors! To ease this particular shopping woe, we’ve created a list of the best plus-size stores that offer high-quality and chic products. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised.

Whether you’re looking for a staple piece or a statement piece, Dia & Co. has you covered. Not only does the brand offer quality pieces at a fair price point, but it also offers the Dia Box, which is your own personal set of clothing picked out by an in-house stylist.

ASOS continues to prove that it stands for fashion for all. The brand caters to plus-size fits seamlessly and offers a wide range of fashion-forward garments.

Whether you want to look sophisticated or add a touch of glamour into your look, Eloquii has you covered.

Finding plus-size athleticwear feels like a rarity, but thankfully, Fabletics has it covered. Its sleek designs make sure it’s known that athleticism isn’t defined by size.

So long to the days when plus-size clothing would seemingly cost more. Torrid offers affordable clothing without sacrificing great design.

I’m not sure if there’s much more needed to say about luxury boutique shopping that specializes in plus sizes. How can one even resist a bit of luxury?

If you’re looking to invest in some quality, high-end brands, Nordstrom’s plus-size division is the place to go. From Vince to Michael Kors, you’ll surely find a hit.

No other plus-size store is leading the way in size inclusivity like Universal Standard. With sizes ranging from 00 to 40, rest assured you’ll be able to find any wardrobe essential in your size here.

The best plus-size fashion brands understand that stylish pieces should be accessible to everyone—which is exactly what Good American is all about. Whether you’re searching for a trend-forward piece or something on this sultry side, it’s got you covered.

  • 2022 Winter Basics So You’ll Always Have An Outfit

2022 Winter Basics So You’ll Always Have An Outfit

    [ad_1]

Global warming sure has made dressing for this weather impossible. One day, it’s sunny and 75 in November. The next it’s 40 with a chance of snow. I genuinely can’t win.

I’m addicted to the thought of having a closet full of essentials. One filled with endless options from merely twelve staple pieces. The sheer thought of waking up in the morning and knowing I have an outfit to wear gives me peace of mind.

But in the age of fast fashion, it’s difficult to find clothes that even last a full season. We’re all obsessed with buying discounted trendy pieces that cycle out of style in less than four months. And that makes for an over-cluttered and underwhelming closet.

I’ve purchased one too many statement pieces and now have a wardrobe with zero consistency. While I’m a fan of a mega-colorful print, the smart – and on trend – choice is to opt for neutrals this winter.

And honestly, thank God. I like to wear more muted colors as I am translucent pale in the winter, and bright colors wash me out even further. You could liken me to a ghost when hot pink hits my skin.

I am a firm believer that winter is the easiest season to dress for. Throw on a basic long sleeve and a pair of flare knit pants and call it a day. Add a shacket around the house when I’m cold and that’s my winter uniform.

This 2022 winter season, I’m looking for the ultimate capsule closet. I want to sleep peacefully knowing I have an outfit in my closet at all times, for all events.

And lo and behold, I’ve found a few. Here are my picks:

    An Oversized Sweater

I couldn’t start this article without a trusty soft sweater. Wear it to work, to dinner, on a date, around the house, really wherever. Aerie’s version feels luxurious and is guaranteed high quality.

You only need two or three solid sweaters to get you through a winter season, anyway. Even if you want to purchase every single one.

    Long Sleeve Bodysuit

Once upon a time, I was a fan of the $12 bodysuit from a fast fashion website that accommodated my weak budget. However, said bodysuits would last three washes before falling apart.

Abercrombie has elevated their line of basics in recent years, making them my top pick for a long sleeve bodysuit. It flatters your curves and is double lined which gives you a bit more warmth and structure.

    Cozy Joggers

More often than not, I’m wearing loungewear in the winter. A solid pair of joggers that are soft and durable while keeping me warm are all I really need. And what better brand than Kim K’s fave blanket?

Barefoot Dreams joggers have changed my life. The coastal grandmother brand has stolen hearts for their plush blankets, but they also make clothing in the same beloved material.

    Leather Blazer

When hitting the town, I need a jacket. But I hate wearing jackets in the bar. A leather blazer keeps me warm without making me feel claustrophobic and goes with most any outfit.

Wearing a jacket doesn’t have to ruin your outfit like it once did! A blazer will look great draped over your shoulders when out on the weekends.

    Flare Jeans

Everyone has been loving the shapeless mom jean look lately, but let me remind you of the equally amazing flare jean. A little bit of shape but with a retro kick.

In the spirit of capsule closets, let it be known that you don’t need tons of jeans to get you through a season. In fact, I often only have one pair of mom jeans, one flare, one white, and one black.

By starting with the basics, you have endless options for an easy winter outfit. Remember that quality clothing items will last longer, saving you money in the long run.

  • Fashion Month Street Style is our Guide to 2022 Fall Fashion Trends

Fashion Month Street Style is our Guide to 2022 Fall Fashion Trends

    [ad_1]

I don’t know about you, but I spend a lot of time scrolling through Pinterest. TikTok is addictive, BeReal is fun, and Instagram is good ol’ reliable (though it’s kind of dead). But none of them compare to the unbridled joy I get from Pinterest.

Sure, I relish the opportunity to curate collections of beautiful images without the other pressures of social media…but my favorite thing about Pinterest is that it keeps me ahead of upcoming fashion trends.

I predicted the fall reign of Birkenstocks before they were literally everywhere. I use it to source outfit inspo for 90s and Y2K fashion by checking back on style pics from those eras. And now, I’m using Pinterest to source the best fall fashion trends coming out of Fashion Month.

Fashion Month may be over but its impact has only just begun. All the runway shows gave us insight on spring and summer trends ’23 — like that iconic cerulean scene in The Devil Wears Prada. But it’s the street style that’s a treasure trove of fashion inspo for this fall and winter.

My mood boards and Pinterest collections are loaded with candid shots of all the best models and style stars flaunting their off-duty style. There are classic outfit combos of course — blazers, denim and white tees, a solid fall boot — but a few fresh trends have emerged from the Fashion Month stylescape.

    @allisonbornstein6

#greenscreen if you watched my “3 tips for building your fall wardrobe” video, you know that creating a moodboard is a very important step in staying focused! here is mine! i have a running folder of all of my fall inspo on my phone but these are some of the newer additions! #fashiontiktok #fyp #stylist #fashiontok #fallfashion #moodboard #inspo #inspooutfit

Big takeaways: neutrals are in, especially brown. Romance-inspired trends are up, from sensual, silky and sheer materials, to full-on bridal core. And texture is a big focus.

Much can be said about my favorite looks from the streets of London, New York, Paris, and Milan this season. Nothing will be said about the Yeezy fashion show. But one thing’s for sure, this was actually an exciting season, and I can’t wait to incorporate my favorite emergent motifs.

Like TikTok’s stylist Allison Bornstein says: shop your own closet! I’ll be buying a few timeless pieces inspired by this season and pairing them with what I already own. To me, that’s the meaning of high-low dressing.

Here are the best pieces I’m scouting for my fall closet based on Fashion Week Trends:

All products featured are independently selected by our editors. Things you buy through our links may earn us a commission.

    Double Denim

Denim is far from basic. I’ve always loved a good Canadian tuxedo and this Fashion Month breathed new light into the fan-favorite outfit combo. Denim pieces are becoming more interesting. Pair your trusty Levis with an ultra-distressed oversized denim jacket — the more rips and patches the better. Or experiment with a denim midi skirt and cropped denim top. Your options are endless.

You can go with double Levis — a look I always love. Or you can switch it up with the sustainable, vintage-inspired selection at Re/Done — a favorite of the fashion and street style set. For a classic pairing, try the Denim Chore Jacket from Universal Standard with your favorite jeans.

    Long Skirts

Thanks to Miu Miu, the micro-mini skirt reigned last season. It was all over our feeds and it’s still going strong, but long skirts are here to steal its thunder. Denim! Tweed! Nylon! All your favorite fashion girlies are getting weird and mixing up their fits with long skirts. Perfect for fall.

I love FRAME for any denim need, and this Midi Slit Skirt is at the top of my list. With the reign of Y2K fashion trends, parachute skirts are the latest It-Girl trend. These gorgeous sage green Drawstring Parachute Cargo Slit Skirt will put you lightyears ahead of the current trends.

    White After Labor Day

Nude and neutrals reigned this season. That old rule, “don’t wear white after labor day,” is rightfully dead, and winter whites are here. From all-white suiting to bridal-core, it’s all fair game. You can either wear different milky shades together or play with texture to create dimension.

Pair a cozy white cashmere sweater like this one from Gentle Herd with these white satin pants from Intimissimi to add some romance to your look. Or make a splash at your holiday events with this bridal-chic Cowl Neck Slip Dress from Fleur Du Mal.

    Platform Shoes

The cowboy boot trend is still going strong. I didn’t think it would last this long, but I still like it. It also inspired us to take more risks with our footwear — hence the platform shoe trend. Yes, we’ve been wearing platform sneakers for years. But platform UGGs are here — see: Bella Hadid, street style expert. Platform loafers. 90s-style platform flip-flops. And ultra-high platform strappy sandals. Watch your step!

    Sleek Suiting

Blazers will always be a timelessly chic addition to your look. But this season, suiting got an upgrade. Slinky button-down shirts and tailored pants were everywhere. Seems like creatives are aching for business-casual attire, but not in a “RTO” way. In a cool way.

Experiment with vests with this tailored number from Something Navy. Or try a funky twist on the oversized blazer with this rock’n’roll inspired cutaway blazer in faux leather from J Crew.

Timothee Chalamet’s Choker Shows All Men Should Be Accessorizing More

    [ad_1]

It’s no secret that men have finally discovered that they can have fashionable fun on the red carpet in something other than a run-of-the-mill tuxedo. Brad Pitt’s skirt, Chris Pine’s dapper Venice Film Festival ensemble, Timothee Freaking Chalamet in general. The latest ideology is that life is too short not to wear a fun outfit.

And we don’t just need to celebrate the daring red jumpsuit from Timothee or the avant-garde dress Harry Styles styled on the cover of Vogue…It’s those capricious flares of style and personality on display in Timothee Chalamet’s Vivienne Westwood choker for the Bones & All premiere. The shirtless look paired with the white, wide lapel suit.

There isn’t a set uniform like a tuxedo and standard gown for red carpets – or even real life – anymore. It starts with big statements like men in dresses, but causes people to take more subtle risks like accessorizing their outfit.

Seeing big names like Timothee or Brad can influence many others to make bold fashion choices the norm. You don’t really blink twice anymore if you see a guy wearing multiple rings, it’s just a cool fashion statement.

Jewelry is a great way to dress up your normal style without completely switching your wardrobe around. Trends don’t often vary as much for men, so the clothing options can feel limited…how are you supposed to switch up your style if the shirts are all the same?

An easy and much more affordable route is accessorizing to your liking. Adding a few rings here or a chain there can elevate your look instantly. Jewelry is no longer for the girls only.

You don’t have to have a dramatic change to switch up your style and renew your outfit completely. The simplest of accessories can be the key to refreshing your wardrobe this fall without having to try too hard. The biggest question you’ll have to ask yourself is gold or silver?

This fall, we’re choosing simple accessories as the staple for every man’s closet. It’s the perfect solution to spicing up any old outfit. Instead of your normal baseball hat, try a chain this season.

Vivienne Westwood Man. Mini Bas Relief Orb Pendant Necklace

Channeling your inner Timothee, this Vivienne Westwood chain and planet charm is a simple take on a classic. The gunmetal shade matches everything and it’s the perfect chain for everyday wear.

    Miansai Pax Ring

A simple gold ring isn’t too flashy, but gets the job done. The black enamel detail is vintage-inspired with a modern edge that can match any outfit.

    Mejuri Curb Chain Bracelet

The curb chain is the perfect chain that is thick enough to make a statement without being too gaudy. Stack this curb chain on top of a watch for a more accessorized look, or wear it by itself as a statement.

ASOS DESIGN 2 Pack Layered Neckchain With Cross

asos has the more affordable jewelry that will last you a long time. It doesn’t look cheap, and you can get two necklaces to wear separately or together.

    ASOS DESIGN Midweight Curb Chain

Again, a take on the classic chain. You can never go wrong with a simple silver chain, especially when you pair it with different jewelry like rings and bracelets.

If Michael B. Jordan enhances his look with a simple iced out chain and stud earrings, you can too. Men’s accessories are a great way to step out of your comfort zone to switch up your style this fall.
