DEAR BONNIE: Have you ever wondered about the existence of bad spirits? And if they do exist, how can we keep them at bay? Lately, I’ve noticed shadows in my peripheral vision and felt a presence around me. It’s left me wondering how I can discern between good and bad spirits, and should I be concerned? Thanks, Clara

DEAR CLARA: When I first embarked on my journey into the spirit world, I was eager to learn everything I could. A friend suggested we visit a haunted house to explore paranormal activities, and I thought, why not? As I was about to purchase the tickets, I heard a clear, authoritative voice (God) telling me to distance myself.

I know when I hear God’s voice, it’s guidance from above that I better listen to, so I answered back out loud, “OK, I understand.”

Lately, many letters have asked me how to deal with bad spirits. I tell them to pray to God and wrap God’s white light around themselves, only letting in the energy that is best for their highest good.

I remove myself from any negative energy as soon as I notice it and only allow positive and loving energies near me. That doesn’t mean I have not seen or felt anything was not good because I have. But, when I would receive those scary images and feelings, even in the early days, I knew who to turn to. Good always outweighs the bad, remember that.

It helps that I see angels, particularly Archangel Michael, who carries the sword of protection. I can start to close my eyes, and I see him in my mind’s eye, sweeping all the energy away from me that has accumulated during the day, and I feel very protected.

So, are there bad spirits? The answer is yes. However, I choose to stay as far away from them as possible and not actively seek them out.

Just as there’s always a balance between good and bad, we have a choice.

I believe that like attracts like, so I strive to make good choices and surround myself with the light. Usually, when people or children sense and see spirits around them, it’s their loving grandparents or other loved ones in Heaven checking in on them and letting you know they are close by and always will be.

You might see orbs of different colors or flashes of light in the corner of your eyes, or your cat or dog might be watching someone who seems to be in the room. Knocks on the door or hearing your name being called might also be a Hello from Heaven.

The spirit world is all around us; just like here on earth, it is choosing who you want to spend your time with. My choice is to only converse with loving and kind people, here and in the spirit world. I choose not to involve myself in hauntings as I would rather offer my clients a loving message from someone they love – a message full of guidance, pure light and beauty from the other side.

If you stay in the energy of good people and only add light to the world, then the bad spirits won’t want to be around you; there’s nothing there for them. Like attracts like. I say my prayers and welcome the Angels to stay close.
