DENVER — Wednesday will be one of the warmest and driest days of the week.
We’re seeing increasing clouds Wednesday morning along the Front Range, but it will be a lot drier for the commute compared to what we saw on Tuesday.
Expect a mix of sun and clouds, with high temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s on Wednesday. Enjoy this mild and dry weather because another colder front will bring colder air and unsettled weather throughout the rest of the week.
Thursday through Saturday will be chilly, with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s for the Denver area and periods of rain and even some snow!
Warmer and drier weather will return starting Sunday. We’ll see more sunshine at that point, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s on the eastern plains.
Warm, dry and breezy across the Denver metro area Wednesday
It will be a sunny start to our day, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s for the early morning commute. We’ll see a nice warm up this afternoon as we soar into the 60s across the plains and 40s in the mountains.
Daytime highs will drop a cool a couple of degrees on Wednesday as a weak front sneaks across the plains. It’ll usher in a chance of a few showers but it doesn’t look like it’ll add up to much.
Mid-60s return Thursday along with plenty of sunshine and it gets even warmer on Friday! Highs will soar into the mid- to upper 70s from Friday through Sunday. So great patio weather for the weekend! The only problem looks to be the wind — again. It could be a bit breezy Saturday and Sunday.
Another system slides into the state Sunday, bringing a chance of thunderstorms and cooler temperatures Monday.
DENVER — While very strong winds out of the northwest are expected across northeast Colorado again on Sunday, the highest gusts will start to diminish through the day.
A high wind warning was allowed to expire for Denver and metro communities to the east, including Denver International Airport, but the warning remains in effect until Noon for many areas including the western suburbs of Denver and areas stretching north through Fort Collins.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Boulder offered some good news for the metro in its early Sunday update. “Worst has passed for Denver – Ft Collins I-25 Corridor.”
Still, winds in Denver could reach between 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph on Sunday.
“Still very windy in and immediately adjacent to the foothills, and also over the northeast plains through this morning, but gradually decreasing today,” said the NWS.

An extended high wind warning until 6 p.m Sunday was issued for Logan, Washington, Sedgwick and Phillips Counties where gusts up to 70 mph are possible.
Along with the high winds, critical fire danger conditions exist Sunday in Colorado.
The NWS issued two separate red flag warnings, including an alert for portions of Lincoln and Elbert Counties from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday where “conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread.”
A second red flag warning is in effect for portions of Larimer, Weld, Boulder and Jefferson Counties until 6 p.m.

High winds expected again on Sunday
Some of the highest winds reported over the weekend have been 87 mph winds in Boulder county, 89 mph winds in Jefferson county, 90 mph winds in Garfield county, 91 mph winds in Summit and Larimer county.
Winds have been up to 91 mph at Copper Mountain and Buckeye, Colorado- Rocky Flats 89 mph winds, and Sterling 84 mph winds.
Sunday’s high in Denver will reach into the 50s ahead of a gradual warm up in the metro this week.
DENVER — Dry and mild conditions will continue for areas along the front range on Saturday.
We will see partly cloudy skies, with breezy conditions in the afternoon. Daytime highs will climb into the lower 60’s for Denver, and most areas along the I-25 corridor.
Scattered snow showers will continue in the highest elevations of the Colorado’s northwest mountains.
Easter Sunday will bring us another round of mild and dry conditions. It will be cool as you head out for Easter services, with temperatures in the 30’s.
Expect sunshine in the early part of the afternoon, with highs in the lower 60’s.
Cooler weather will start to move in Sunday evening, with a chance of rain and snow showers for the Metro. That chance of rain and snow showers will stick around through Monday, with daytime highs only in the 40’s.
Drier weather and much warmer conditions move in for the rest of the week. We will see highs at or slightly above 70 degrees by Thursday.
Skies cleared out overnight and we’re seeing some dry but cold conditions for the Tuesday morning drive. We’re seeing overnight lows in the teens and wind chills down to near zero.
Expect plenty of sunshine early Tuesday with increasing clouds by the afternoon. The mountains will see more snow and a few of these snow showers could roll east over the plains Tuesday afternoon and evening. Little to no accumulation is expected.
Temperatures will continue to climb through the week. Expect 50s on Wednesday and 60s by Thursday.
The warming trend will last through the Easter weekend with upper 60s Friday and Saturday and highs in the low 70s on Easter Sunday.
A new storm will impact Colorado next Monday with mountain snow and showers and thunderstorms for the plains.

A powerful winter storm is now moving into Colorado and will bring some heavy snow to the Front Range and metro area.
We saw a few showers roll over Denver Wednesday morning, so the roads may be damp for the morning drive. Heavier rain will develop Wednesday afternoon.
High temperatures Wednesday will climb to around 50 degrees in Denver, with more 30s in the mountains. Winds will pick up and rain becomes more widespread in the afternoon across the Front Range.
We’ll see a rain/snow mix for Wednesday’s evening commute, and it will likely start to get slushy along the Palmer Divide and in the foothills.
The snow will turn heavy Wednesday night and continue through Thursday. A winter storm watch has been issued for the metro area and mountains. Around 8 to 18 inches of snow is possible in town, with 2 to 3 feet in the foothills and northern Front Range mountains.

Colorado’s high country will continue to see snow, heavy at times, this Sunday. The eastern half of the state can expect a few widely scattered showers, but mainly dry and breezy conditions.
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect over most of western Colorado. Additional snow for our northern and central mountains will range between 6-8 inches, with more over the highest terrain this Sunday.
In Denver, expect partly cloudy skies, with only the slight chance for a few light rain/snow showers rolling off the foothills. Winds will be strong this afternoon and temperatures turn cooler, with highs in the 50s across the metro-area.
Monday, scattered snow showers remain in the mountains, with a few showers possible over the plains as this storm system rolls east. Colder and breezy at times Monday, with highs in the upper 40s in Denver.
This week, temperatures rebound to the 50s Tuesday and Wednesday, with another strong system set to roll in by the end of the week, producing more mountain snow and the chance for snow over the metro-area Thursday into Friday.
“Unfortunately fire danger is going to be a lot higher tomorrow,” said Denver7 Morning Meteorologist Lisa Hidalgo.

The combination of strong winds, blowing from the southwest with gusts up to 45 mph plus low humidity will create conditions for “extreme fire behavior,” said the NWS in its alert.
In addition to Saturday’s weather alert, a red flag warning remains in effect for southern Lincoln County until 6 p.m. Friday.
The warnings come on the heels of a strong storm system that will dump large amounts of snow across the western portion of the United States and bring up to 15 inches of snow to areas in Colorado’s high country this weekend through Monday morning.
“It’s going to lose a little steam as it gets closer to the state,” added Hidalgo. “Likely looking at some of our heaviest snow right in through the northern and also down through the southwestern mountains, we’ve got a number of watches going into effect for quite a few counties.”
The NWS warned accumulations between 6 and 18 inches is possible with wind gusts up to 75 mph.
Slick travel conditions can be expected through the mountains, with limited visibility possible due to blowing snow, said the NWS.
For the Denver metro area, Saturday’s weather should remain warm with windy conditions. The high temperature in Denver on Saturday is expected to be close to 70 degrees. On Sunday, expect slight cooler temps in Denver with a high of 55 degrees and the potential for showers.
Although Colorado’s mountains can expect snow, Hidalgo said Denver and the eastern plains could see periods of light rain and snow mix starting Sunday through Monday.
As the calendar rolls into March, the winter blasts in February have helped the Denver metro area get a little closer to normal snowfall totals for the season.
The 13.7 inches of snow recorded at Denver International Airport boosted the cumulative total for the year at 29.1 inches, which lags behind the 34.9 inches normally seen at this point in the season.

Temperatures will climb into the upper 30s to near 40 degrees across the metro area Friday, with another round of snow developing by the evening commute.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for the mountains from Estes Park to Steamboat Springs for up to a foot of snow by early Saturday.
This next round of snow, stretching from Fort Collins through Denver, will bring more accumulation later Friday. We could see around 1-3″ of snow by tomorrow.
This will be a pretty quick moving storm and skies will quickly clear out for the weekend. We’ll see more sunshine on Saturday, with highs in the 40s and more 50s by Sunday!

Temperatures will climb into the low 50s Wednesday afternoon across the plains, with 20s and 30s in the mountains.
A gradual increase in moisture from the west will bring snow showers back to Colorado’s high country, mainly along and north of I-70 Wednesday.
The weather will stay mild over the plains again on Thursday with highs in the 50s. There will be a cold front sliding across the area late Thursday, bringing Denver’s next chance for snow late Thursday into Friday, but it should be pretty light.

Expect a chilly day on Friday with our highs in the 30s and a chance for light snow. We’ll have to wait and see again – with this storm as it gets closer – on whether or not it will bring significant snow to the area.
As it stands now, it looks like a pretty quick mover, and we will have sunshine going into the weekend with highs in the 40s and 50s.
DENVER — The snow is tapering off along the Front Range but will continue into the evening hours for the Eastern Plains. The wet roads are expected to freeze this evening as road temperatures drop.
Saturday brought several inches of snow along the Front Range. The entire Denver metro area remains under a winter weather advisory.
Communities along the I-25 corridor, the Front Range stretching up to Fort Collins and portions of northeast Colorado are under the winter weather advisory until 11 p.m. Saturday for “additional snow accumulations up to 4 inches, with the heaviest snow falling across the southern Foothills and Denver metro,” said the NWS early Saturday morning.
“The low is too far to the south and weakening and too far to the south to be a huge storm,” added Nelson. “In the 2 to 4 inch range of snowfall for the Denver metro area, not a lot is coming for the mountains.”

Colorado alpenglow: Here’s what makes some mountain sunrises, sunsets so magical
Eaton, Briggsdale, Grover, Fort Lupton and Greeley were included in the winter storm warning in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday.
“By this afternoon, snow should redevelop across most of the metro and portions of the plains as deeper moisture makes a brief return,” said the NWS in its weather discussion.
Those additional Colorado snow totals will help boost the seasonal cumulative average closer to normal in Denver.
The metro’s snow gauge stands at 14 inches behind the normal cumulative total heading into February.
At Denver International Airport, Denver’s official weather reporting station, 20.9 inches of snow has fallen this year compared to the normal of 34.9 inches.
The system quickly pushes through the state and by Sunday, conditions clear out but it will remain cold.
Milder weather awaits for the beginning of the week with Denver’s temperature warming to 43 degrees on Monday. Day by day, afternoon high temps increase reaching the low 50s by Wednesday with Denver’s next snow chance arriving Friday.
