  • Arnold Schwarzenegger, on New Year’s Day, shares ‘the only thing that works’ when it comes to achieving goals

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Actor and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger is offering up his advice on motivation and achieving goals on New Year’s Day, writing on X that building a routine is “the only thing that works.”

“As you start today with all the motivation in the world, remember this: it won’t last,” the bodybuilding legend said.

Build a routine. Do it no matter what. When you really can’t, don’t quit or beat yourself up, just do it the next day. Show up, over and over,” he continued.

“It is the only thing that works,” Schwarzenegger added.

Schwarzenegger made the remarks in response to a Dec. 19 post in which he said, “My best advice is to stop using motivation as your only fuel.”

“I know it feels great when you’re fired up, but it’s a short-term fuel source. That’s why the vast majority of people who start anything — diet, fitness, new projects — don’t finish. They run out of gas,” the actor said at the time.

  • ‘Landman’: Guy Burnet on Charlie and Rebecca’s Hot Chemistry, Shooting That ‘Naked’ Bedroom Scene and His Bond With Superfan Arnold Schwarzenegger

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from Season 2, Episode 6 of “Landman,” “Dark Night of the Soul,” which premiered Sunday, Dec. 21, on Paramount+.

Guy Burnet has only been on two episodes of “Landman,” but he’s already made a big impact.

Burnet plays Charlie, a M-Tex geologist who had a one-night stand with Rebecca (Kayla Wallace) after a traumatic (and drunken) plane ride. Yet Rebecca had no idea they were both employed by M-Tex — and that she’s technically senior to him, breaking corporate rules — until she traveled to meet him at an informational meeting during this week’s episode.

It’s been a treat getting to see the high-strung Rebecca let her hair down around the suave Charlie, and the characters’ chemistry is electric. In an interview with Variety, Burnet is quick to praise his scene partner as essential to bringing the spark to their scenes.

“I think the secret behind it is having two people who are game to do something more, to elevate something,” he says. “Kayla is the opposite of her character. She is this wonderfully kind and generous and gentle human being. When I first went out to Texas, I got her information and said, ‘Hey, would you like to meet?’ Some actors just want to turn up and do the job. She’s not that way, and we share the same philosophy of, ‘Let’s do something fun here. Let’s build something.’ So we met up and talked about life and shared stories, and got on well. Kayla and I have a real protectiveness of each other, and we bring that chemistry to the characters and let that be natural.”

Burnet, who has also acted in series like “FUBAR” and “Counterpart” and films like “Oppenheimer” and “Pitch Perfect 3,” had the additional challenge of not just being emotionally vulnerable in his first episodes, but also putting it all out there physically as well. On his first episode, both Charlie and Rebecca woke up from their wild night in various states of disrobe, which can be challenging for even the most fearless and dashing actors. But Burnet thought about the situation and his character’s state of mind a little differently.

“Let’s be honest, I’m not Chris Hemsworth,” Burnet says. “Everyone’s a beefcake these days in these Marvel movies. Do I work out? Yeah, I train, and I box, but I’m not a lot like those guys, so whatever. I got to give up at some point and go, ‘All right, this is me. I’m fine, whatever.’ The first thing we shot was that bedroom scene. I’m coming in naked. Kayla is so abundantly beautiful, and in my mind, I’m going, ‘Why would she want to be with me?’ And then I’m like, even in my head, genuinely at the time, ‘The audience is going to be like, “Oh, come on.”‘ The character is happy-go-lucky, and he just gets lucky. She’s out of his league. That’s how I see it. If it develops from there, he’s hit the jackpot. I don’t think it actually was nerve-wracking because I kind of gave up. I was just like, ‘Whatever, man. I got lucky. She is probably never going to want to see me again. So I’ll just say goodbye,’ and the fates intervened.”

Fans will definitely get to know Burnet more this season, and while he can’t spoil specifics, he’s excited to show different sides of the character.

“As you can see already, there’s obviously a very strong chemistry that Rebecca and Charlie have,” he says. “I think that develops both of their characters. She becomes a bit more three-dimensional, which then allows you to learn more about him. That’s really to drive her character and her story. I’m here to serve that story. Also, he has a natural set of skills that are needed that can bring him into the M-Tex world, which would involve the other characters, and who knows where beyond that. So it’s naturally gonna transition from just their bubble into the greater scheme of things.”

As his role grows, Burnet has one key support figure in his life: His good friend and “Landman” superfan Arnold Schwarzenegger, who he grew close with while shooting “FUBAR.”

“Along the way in this job, you get to meet some cool people,” Burnet says. “If you’re lucky enough, you stay in touch. Arnold is such a special, special person. He’s saved me in situations — I’m not going to say that lightly, and I won’t get into what, but when I needed somebody, he was there. He checks in on me all the time. He believes in me more than nearly anyone I’ve ever come across. He makes me believe in myself. He’ll call to check in with me: ‘What’s going on? How are you doing mental health-wise?’ And his favorite show is ‘Landman,’ and he calls and sends me messages and loves it. I consider that relationship one of the great things that’s ever happened for me.”

  • The 7 Biggest Differences Between the ‘Running Man’ Movies

The Running Man movie that’s coming to theaters next week could not be more different than The Running Man movie you grew up with. That movie, released in 1987 and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, followed a man named Ben Richards competing in a deadly reality show called The Running Man, run by an evil corporation. The new movie, directed by Edgar Wright and starring Glen Powell, does that too. Both movies are also based on the 1982 novel of the same name by Stephen King, under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. But that’s basically where the similarities end.

Below, we’re going to run down the seven biggest, non-spoiler differences between the films and then decide which interpretation is more appealing. Then, check back next week for a full review of the new film and an interview with director Edgar Wright.

    The Arena

In the 1987 film, The Running Man show takes place in a 400-block underground arena that allows for the TV production to cover it from all angles. In the 2025 film, Ben can go anywhere in the world. We understand that the smaller arena made for a smaller, less expensive movie. But expansion, which is more faithful to the book, makes for much more exciting set pieces because there is such variation.

    Advantage: Powell 2025

Dynamo in the original Running Man. – Tri Star

    The Villains

Once the game begins, both films show Ben being hunted by a group of popular killers, called Stalkers in the 1987 film and Hunters in 2025. However, while the 1987 film made the characters into larger-than-life personalities that were basically wrestlers (Fireball, Dynamo, etc.), the 2025 film portrays them as more of a tight-knit military team where most of them are anonymous, save for the leader, McCone. Those guys are cool, but no one is cooler than a man in a light suit singing opera.

    Advantage: Schwarzenegger 1987

    The Backstory

The most significant change between the films is why Ben plays Running Man in the first place. In 1987, he was framed for genocide because he refused to kill innocent people. He then plays the game because he’s captured and tries to help his friends. In 2025, Ben volunteers to play the game because he’s trying to help his family and needs the work. The new movie does touch upon some of that corporate evil, but family is simply a more emotionally powerful explanation.

    Advantage: Powell 2025

    Running Man Powell Brolin

    The Love Interest

An offshoot of the difference in backstories is that both Bens have different love interests. In the 2025 film, Ben is in love with his wife, played by Jayme Lawson, as well as their child. In the 1987 movie, Ben has no attachments. He’s kind of forced into an awkward alliance with a random woman played by María Conchita Alonso. They eventually end up together, but it’s an afterthought. Having that human connection gives 2025 Ben a clear advantage.

    Advantage: Powell 2025

    The Prize

Ben, in the 2025 movie, volunteers for The Running Man because there are massive cash prizes available, upwards of $1 billion. He needs that money to help his family. In the 1987 movie, only criminals play the game, so their prizes are all oddly legally based and very quickly glossed over. Cold, hard cash is clearly a more relatable motivation to put your life on the line than the promise of a better lawyer.

    Advantage: Powell 2025

    Running Man Glen Powell Disguise

    The Length

Marketing for the new Running Man makes it clear that, in the film, Ben Richards has to survive 30 days out in the world. The original movie only requires the characters to stay alive for three hours. That time difference changes motivations and plot devices throughout, but we like that things were so much shorter in the original. Made more sense for TV.

    Advantage: Schwarzenegger 1987

    The World

Because the new movie has Ben Richards out in the world, anyone, anywhere can become involved in The Running Man. That’s fun. The first movie takes place only in this isolated arena, so for the most part, the main people who have an impact on the game itself are members of the studio audience. That movie does show a lot of people in the outside world, but they’re all passive participants.

    Advantage: Powell 2025

    Running Man Richard Dawson
The games begin. – Tri Star

    And also…

Of course, there are other differences too. Schwarzenegger’s film, for example, has two former governors in it: himself and Jesse Ventura. The new one has zero governors. In the original film, the host of The Running Man, played by Richard Dawson, is also the head of the evil corporation behind it. These are separate characters (Coleman Domingo and Josh Brolin, respectively) in the new film. Contestants in the first film are friends, but they’re strangers in the new one. The list goes on and on.

And, once you see the movie, there are plenty more, but we don’t want to spoil anything.

But certainly, from this list, it’s clear that Wright’s version is wildly different from the first one—and that means, if you’re a fan, it’s very worth checking out. It opens in theaters on November 14. We’ll have more soon.

  • How Gavin Newsom Struck the Year’s Heaviest Blow Against Trump

    Photo: Justin Sullivan/Getty Images

Truth be told, when California governor Gavin Newsom announced back on July 31 that he was going to pursue a constitutional amendment to retaliate against Donald Trump’s Texas gerrymandering power grab, I was very skeptical it could work.

First of all, it involved firing at a moving target. Though there was never any doubt Texas Republicans would do as they were told, the actual new congressional map wasn’t finally put into place until the end of August, nearly a month after Newsom made his move. Second of all, the time frame was really constrained: Any proposed amendment had to clear the California legislature almost instantly and then survive legal challenges. Third of all, the nonpartisan citizens redistricting commission that Newsom wanted to push aside was well-established (created by voters in 2008 and extended to congressional redistricting two years later) and widely popular, particularly among Democrats and good-government types. And fourth of all, he and his allies would have very little time to raise the vast funds necessary to explain this arcane issue to voters, persuade them to give redistricting (albeit temporarily) back to politicians, and mobilize them to vote in an off-year special election.

In addition, Newsom was picking a fight with one of the few Californians better known than himself: his predecessor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who regarded the nonpartisan redistricting system as an important part of his own legacy.

Newsom and his allies (including virtually every Democratic pol in the state, along with national Democratic celebrities and pro-Democratic constituency groups, especially unions) methodically got the job done. They didn’t wait for the Texas power grab to be consummated before laying the groundwork for the ballot initiative, making it initially contingent on what happened in the Lone Star State. They went right ahead and secured legislative approval of an actual congressional map so that voters could see what they were voting for instead of trusting the pols to get it right. Enough money was lined up to give Prop 50 (as it came to be known) a big financial advantage over its opponents (a coalition of Republicans and allegedly independent good-government advocates). And most of all, Newsom & Co. settled quickly on a message that made Prop 50 a referendum on Donald Trump and his many terrible works.

The strategy closely resembled what Newsom did to defeat a Republican-led 2021 recall effort that would have removed him from office: making it a partisan contest in which the Democrats who outnumber Republicans about five to three in the Golden State would prevail if motivated and united. But beyond that, the Prop 50 campaign focused on Trump — not just the gerrymandering scheme the initiative countered, but his ongoing battle with California across a broad landscape of legal and policy issues. So while Prop 50 opponents were consigned to abstract arguments over complex systems for drafting and approving congressional maps, Prop 50 proponents could simply produce visceral and threatening images of a very unpopular president. And because Trump really did start the redistricting fight, Prop 50 could be presented as a righteous measure to prevent a proliferation of gerrymandering this year and on into the future. The campaign turned a retaliatory power grab into a good-government measure of its own.

Prop 50 got some breaks, too. The “No on 50” coalition was divided on tactics and strategy between those who wanted to keep the high nonpartisan ground and those who wanted to demonize Newsom. Schwarzenegger, who was probably unhappy with any association, however indirect, with Trump (the nominally Republican actor went so far as to endorse Kamala Harris in 2024), gave the “No on 50” cause little more than lip service. And Trump himself seemed to be on his worst behavior in the months that preceded the vote.

In the end, it was no contest, but still, the numbers are remarkable. With 75 percent of the vote counted (California, which sends mail ballots to all registered voters, counts votes slowly), Prop 50 is leading by a margin of 63.8 percent to 36.2 percent, and the “yes” margin is likely to go up as a “blue shift” (the typical Democratic lean in the last-counted mail ballots) develops. That’s already a higher percentage of the vote than the last three Democratic presidential candidates secured in California, and for that matter, a higher percentage than Newsom’s in his two gubernatorial elections and his recall win. On a bad Election Night for Donald Trump, it was the largest and noisiest blow to the 47th president of them all. And most obviously, Prop 50, intended to flip five U.S. House seats, could pay major dividends in the 2026 midterms, particularly since Republican gerrymandering efforts are currently stalling in Indiana and Kansas.

The big win for Prop 50 will also boost Gavin Newsom’s all-but-certain 2028 presidential candidacy. To this Californian, it feels like Newsom has been running for that office for decades. But he deserves whatever juice he gets from his anti-Trump efforts in 2025. Prop 50 represented a master class in persuasion and a strategy executed to perfection. If Newsom’s future campaign is as competent, he’ll be in good shape.

  • Tales From the Crypt Live at Dynasty Typewriter

The lurid 1950s comic books were investigated by the U.S. Senate

Long before the Crypt Keeper was on T-shirts and toys, and way before Tales From the Crypt was a creepy 90s TV show, it was a comic book. EC Comics began publishing their acclaimed horror anthology books starting in 1950. A couple of years later, they were facing complaints from parents and an investigation by a U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Juvenile Delinquency on the lurid comics.

On October 26, the L.A.-based performance group Captured Aural Phantasy Theater will bring the shocking worlds to life in their live-read stage show based on the comic book series. The troupe will revisit several stories in a live show at Dynasty Typewriter on October 26, featuring projections, live music, magic and haunting songs just in time for Halloween.

The original Tales From the Crypt comics (not to be confused with the TV series featuring famous guest stars like Tom Hanks and Arnold Schwarzenegger) were published by William Gaines, who inherited his dad’s comic book company at age 25. Gaines hired renowned artists like Will Elder, Jack Davis and Frank Frazetta to illustrate tales of the supernatural, comeuppance and revenge, all with outrageous plot twists.

Many pearls were clutched after an article titled “Horror In The Nursery” was published in Collier’s magazine, exposing parents to the monstrous things kids loved reading about. After enduring much grilling, Gaines gave up on the shock horror and turned his attention to shock humor by founding Mad magazine.

Gaines’ exploits are at the heart of troupe founder Ben Dickow’s other project, Comic Book Crackdown, a new musical recently staged during Banned Books Week at L.A.’s Central Library. Seventy-plus years after politicians tried to outlaw these comics, book bans haven’t gone away. PEN America reports that A Clockwork Orange was the most banned book in schools this year, in a list that also includes Wicked, A Handmaid’s Tale, and Forever… by Judy Blume.

  • ‘Real Time’: Arnold Schwarzenegger Slams Prop 50 As “A Big Scam,” Says Dems Should Win “Because Of Their Performance”

As California voters weigh Prop 50 ahead of the crucial upcoming midterm elections, Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher to campaign against the bill.

Following Gov. Gavin Newsom‘s ‘Election Rigging Response Act‘, sparked by recent Texas redistricting efforts the benefit Republicans, Schwarzenegger told Maher he thinks “that Prop 50 is a big scam,” noting that “there’s gerrymandering going on all over.”

“Do you know who I want to win? The people,” he said. “The people have to win. See, I’m a Republican, but I’m not a Republican hack. I’m not a political hack. I don’t serve the party, I always serve the people. The people are first.”

    Related Stories

Schwarzenegger continued. “We cannot undo something and rip away the power that the people in California have and give it back to the politicians. We fought that for too long. Let’s not do that. Let’s be a good example. Let the Democrats outperform the Republicans, and therefore, because of their performance, win and get the House back.”

Maher quipped, “I don’t think that’s very realistic.”

The former governor went on to champion the independent California Citizens Redistricting Commission that was formed in 2010 with support from Schwarzenegger.

Newsom previously trolled the Twins (1988) actor on social media in August when his co-star Danny DeVito contributed a $1,000 donation to the Yes on 50 campaign.

  • What California’s Proposition 50 Means for Voters in 2025

Recent polls indicate that California’s Proposition 50 is likely to pass. So what does that mean?

    What is it?

California’s Proposition 50 is a redistricting measure intended to counter Texas’s Republican-favoring redistricting plan by creating more Democratic seats representing California in the House of Representatives.

On November 4, 2025, voters will have the chance to vote in favor of or in opposition to these new district lines designed to favor Democrats in the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections, effectively overriding the map drawn by the state’s nonpartisan independent redistricting commission. This, a decision that would represent a strong departure from California’s commitment to independent redistricting as established during the Great Recession, to put the power in the hands of a citizen panel.

    What’s the impact?

Though the vast majority of California’s representatives are Democrats, of the 9 current Republican seats, it is likely that 4 to 5 will be cut as a result of this redistricting. This map would heavily impact the likelihood of a reelection for current Republican officeholders Ken Calvert in the Inland Empire, Kevin Kiley in Greater Sacramento, David Valadao in the San Joaquin Valley, and Darrel Issa in the San Diego area. All of which are in districts that are likely to turn blue under this redistricting plan.

The Democratic Party sees this proposition as an immediate way to combat the actions of the Trump Administration that are harming Californians, stripping billions of dollars in federal research grants, drastically cutting funds for Medicaid, and separating families through immigration raids.

This, however, does not mitigate concern for what could be to come in the future for redistricting in Republican led states. States such as Indiana, Florida, and Missouri are also considering redistricting plans to create more Republican seats in the House.

Indiana Governor Mike Braun, a Republican even mentioned in a local radio interview that if a state is not “getting involved as well as you can on the political side, you probably are not going to be the first call when it comes to the benefits”, demonstrating the fear that Republican states have about losing Presidential support as a result of staying out of redistricting initiatives.

    What do the polls say?

Many polls have been taken regarding this proposition, though all have come up with slightly varying numbers, the consensus demonstrates that Californians are in favor of this proposition. UC Berkeley’s Institute for Governmental Studies found in August that 48 percent of people polled were in favor of the proposal, while 32 percent opposed it. Similarly, polls at Emerson College show that 51 percent of people were in support of the ballot measure while 34 percent were against.

    What are people saying?

Governor of California Gavin Newsom says that California has no choice but to “fight fire with fire”  against what he claims to be Trump’s attempts to steal the 2026 midterm elections by redrawing state lines in favor of his party.

Former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger combated this idea during an appearance he made at the University of Southern California last month by saying, “I hate to get political here, but this is not political. This is more about democracy,” and “If you vote yes on that, we go backwards.” Providing a direct critique of this proposition.

He even suggests that people need to lose the idea of having to “fight Trump,” claiming that it doesn’t make sense to “become him” in order to fight him, specifically noting that “Two wrongs don’t make a right.”

What does this mean for democracy?

Schwarzenegger also fears that Proposition 50 is an attempt to try to “fight for democracy by getting rid of the democratic principles of California,” which Democratic Assembly member Mark Gonzales disagrees with, asserting that “We had to push back and create five seats of our own in order for us to make sure that we maintained democracy, especially here in California.”

  • Newsom Warns Trump’s Tactics Could End 2028 Election

Newsom told Colbert he is worried that efforts to manipulate election maps could threaten the fairness of future elections, including the 2028 presidential contest

California Gov. Gavin Newsom raised alarm Tuesday night over the integrity of future elections, telling Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, “I Fear We Will Not Have An Election in 2028.”

Newsom criticized President Donald Trump for attempting to “rig the midterm elections,” citing pressure on GOP-led states to redraw congressional districts ahead of 2026. These redistricting efforts are part of a broader strategy to help Republicans maintain control of the House of Representatives, Newsom said.

Newsom signed legislation in August calling for a Nov. 4 special election that would allow Californians to temporarily give lawmakers authority over congressional maps for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections. The measure, called the Election Rigging Response Act, would override the state’s independent redistricting commission, and Newsom hopes it will help counter these risks.

“As the Democratic Party, we have a lot of work to do to make up for our failures in the past,” Newsom said. “We got crushed in this last election.”

This act has received criticism and opposition from many, including former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. California should never resort to gerrymandering tactics, Schwarzenegger said.

“I’m getting ready for the gerrymandering battle.” Schwarzenegger wrote on a post on X while wearing a shirt that read: “F*** the politicians, terminate gerrymandering.”

However, many House speakers agree with Newsom.

“California will not be a bystander to Trump’s power grab,” Speaker Robert Rivas said. “We are acting to defend our state from his attacks by taking it directly to the voters. Californians believe in democracy and freedom, and we will not stand by while the House is hijacked by authoritarianism.”

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger warns America is approaching democracy ‘cliff’ after Charlie Kirk assassination

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Arnold Schwarzenegger shared his fears about the future of democracy as he reflected on the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

On Monday, the 78-year-old actor and former Republican governor of California joined the University of Southern California’s interim President Beong-Soo Kim for a live discussion as part of USC’s International Day of Democracy celebrations.

During their conversation, before an audience of university students and faculty members, Kim asked Schwarzenegger about his reaction to the murder of the conservative activist on a Utah university campus last week.

“I was very, very upset that someone’s life was taken because they have a different opinion. It’s just unbelievable,” Schwarzenegger said in a clip from the event he shared on X Tuesday.

“This was a great communicator, a great advocate for the right — for Republican causes. He had such a great way of communicating with the students that agreed or disagreed with him.

“It’s a human being. A human life is gone,” the actor continued. “And he was a great father, a great husband. I was thinking about his children. They will only be reading about him now, instead of him reading to them bedtime stories.”

Kirk was hosting a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University Sept. 10 when he was assassinated. On Tuesday, Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of fatally shooting Kirk, was formally charged with aggravated murder and felony discharge of a firearm causing bodily injury, two counts of obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering and one count of committing a violent offense in front of children.

Robinson, who was arrested Sept. 12 in Utah, will remain in custody without bail. Prosecutors have confirmed they will seek the death penalty in the case.

While speaking at the A Democracy Day Dialogue event, Schwarzenegger said he was “shocked” when he saw the news of Kirk’s assassination. He noted that, since the tragedy, there have been an “endless amount” of debates about how to stop political violence in the United States.

“We have to acknowledge that the cause of all of this is the social media companies that are dividing us, the mainstream media companies that are dividing us,” Schwarzenegger said.

“The political parties — the Democrats that are dividing us, the Republicans that are dividing us,” he continued. “We’re getting hit from so many different angles, and we have to be very careful that we don’t get closer to that cliff. Because when you fall down that cliff — down there, there is no democracy.

“We have to be very, very careful,” Schwarzenegger warned. “I think it is very important that we turn this around and that we show people power. Because the people can turn this around. The people have the ultimate power.

“And, so, this is why I recommend very strongly that people who say, ‘Well, what can I do? I’m just an individual.’ Each and every one of you in here can make a difference.”

“Imagine that you get together, and you start having communications together and solving problems together. You will have the media turn out in no time and cover that story,” Schwarzenegger said. “And you will be an example for the rest of the nation and for all universities, how you get together, how you not see the other side as the enemy. In the caption of his X post, Schwarzenegger, who was one of the first celebrities to publicly react after Kirk’s death, praised the crowd at the USC event.

“There’s something more important than my message in this video. It’s what you don’t hear. No heckling. No disrespect. No shouting,” he wrote.

“I know that social media shows us the worst of humanity, and a few people celebrating a death will get more attention than hundreds of respectful people,” Schwarzenegger continued. “Don’t let these companies and the rage influencers that profit from them convince you the worst of us are the most of us.

  • Charlie Kirk assassination: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Josh Duhamel, Jillian Michaels denounce political violence

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, celebrities on both sides of the aisle are calling for change.

Kirk, who was killed Wednesday during a speaking engagement in Orem, Utah, was a well-known conservative activist. Despite the often heated political climate in Hollywood, it seems one thing many can agree on is that there’s no justification for this type of violence.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, a former Republican governor of California who in recent years has been extremely critical of the party, took to social media following the shooting to urge people to come together in the wake of the tragedy.

“My heart is with Charlie Kirk’s family, and with the United States,” he wrote on X. “Politics has become a disease in this country, and it’s deadly. But don’t listen to the pessimists who say there is no cure. There is a cure. It is inside of us. We must find our better angels and walk back from the extremes. If we can’t agree on anything else, we must find agreement that we don’t solve our debates with violence.”

Schwarzenegger added, “This is a horrible tragedy. May it also be a moment for everyone to rediscover their humanity.”

Actor Josh Duhamel took a similar stance. He posted a photo of Kirk with his wife and two children on Instagram with the caption, “RIP Charlie Kirk. Please remember, no matter what your political beliefs, that this man had a wife and 2 beautiful children who no longer have him. Please pray for this madness to stop.”

Jillian Michaels, who told Fox News Digital that she’s personally “more centrist,” shared on X following the shooting that even though she and Kirk “did not see eye to eye on certain topics,” he still welcomed her to events and onto his podcast.

“The hatred that has seeped into our culture must stop,” she wrote. “If we give in to this anger, if we allow hate to breed hate, we lose not only lives but our very humanity. We have got to reject this darkness — in our media, in our politics, and within ourselves. Let’s take the pain of this loss as a solemn call to ensure it never happens again. All of our leaders on both sides of the aisle, of all colors, all genders, and all orientations need to set a better example. Come together. Choose empathy, understanding, and unity — in honor of Charlie, for the sake of our culture, and the well-being of generations to come. Rest in peace, Charlie.”

“We should all condemn political violence,” she wrote on X. “A young life cut down. A young family left to pick up the pieces. This is not just a tragedy for his family. This is a tragedy for our country. No matter where you are on political spectrum. This is something we can all condemn. This is a moment to stop, reflect, and reassess. Gun violence must be stopped. • The Real Reason Patrick Schwarzenegger Didn’t Invite His Brother From His Dad’s Affair to His Wedding

There was one person in the Schwazenegger family not invited to Patrick’s wedding. The White Lotus star married his long-time girlfriend, Abby Champion, in Idaho on Sept. 6, and his famous parents attended, but what about his half-brother Joseph?

According to TMZ, Patrick’s half-brother was not invited to the nuptials because they aren’t close. Sources told the gossip site the snub wasn’t a surprise given that “he has no relationship with that side of the Schwarzenegger fam.”

Joseph is the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and his housekeeper, Mildred Baena, and was born in 1998. The affair had reportedly ended the marriage between The Terminator star and his wife Maria Schriver. “As I sat on the hotel room floor in the dark, terrified and alone with tears streaming down my face,” she wrote in an excerpt of her memoir I Am Maria, obtained by People, “I thought to myself: Maria, this doesn’t have to be the end of the you. It can’t be the end of you. Make it a new beginning of you.” She added that she was “consumed with grief and wracked with confusion, anger, fear, sadness, and anxiety.”

“I have caused enough pain for my family because of my f–k up,” he said about his affair in his 2023 documentary Arnold. “Everyone had to suffer. Maria had to suffer. The kids had to suffer. Joseph. His mother. Everyone.”

Those who attended Patrick and Abby’s wedding included Laura and Greg Champion, Patrick’s brother-in-law, Chris Pratt, (through his marriage to Katherine) and Patrick’s The White Lotus co-star, Jason Isaacs.

Sources close to the former California governor says he and Joseph “are very close.” However, the same sources told Page Six that he doesn’t have a relationship with any of his other children. “But, to be honest, the other kids don’t love Joe. It’s a shame as he’s a really good kid, and Arnold has always treated him like all his other kids — very fairly. But for whatever reason, the other kids take [the affair] out on Joe.”

Joseph also explained why he uses his mother’s surname instead of his father’s. “I think the main thing is I’m trying to do things on my own,” he told Good Morning Britain. “My family is very big in supporting from afar and not being so hands-on, I really appreciate that. I think it’s really important growing up as a man to do things on your own. To figure it out, that’s what I’ve been doing,” he said.

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Ready To Take On Gavin Newsom

In these divided times, Californians of both stripes have been comforted by how readily its most recent Republican governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and current Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom have come together—especially when it came to standing up to (Republican, as if you didn’t know) President Donald Trump. But that Golden State alliance ended this week, after Newsom announced a plan to redistrict California in response to a Trump-inspired gerrymandering scheme in Texas.

For months now, Trump’s team has been lobbying GOP lawmakers and governors to redraw state maps to ensure a Republican House majority in the 2026 midterm elections. In Indiana, for example, Trump asked Gov. Mike Braun to call for a special legislative session to redistrict the Hoosier state, even sending Vice President JD Vance to implore leaders to convene.

Braun—who Trump relegated to the kids’ table during his star-studded inauguration—has yet to make a decision on the matter, but his counterpart in Texas, Greg Abbott, is all in on the plan, with a special redistricting session planned for this week that could net the GOP five more House seats.

In response, Newsom announced his own redistricting proposal Thursday, saying via X that he will call a special election “to redraw our Congressional maps and defend fair representation.” At a press conference on Thursday to promote the November 4 vote, Newsom explained that redrawing California’s electoral map would generate five Democratic house seats, effectively negating any Texas gains. It’s a move that the state must make “in reaction to a president of the United States that called a sitting governor of the state of Texas and said ‘find me five seats,’” Newsom said.

“I know they say don’t mess with Texas. Well, don’t mess with the great Golden State,” Newsom said, even as Trump appeared to do just that: Armed and masked ICE agents assembled just outside Newsom’s press event to promote the redistricting effort, a show of force that LA Mayor Karen Bass described as “completely unacceptable” and Newsom pointed to as proof that California’s redistricting is the only way forward. The ICE agents’ presence was “pretty sick and pathetic,” Newsom told reporters, describing it as everything one needs to know “about Donald Trump’s America.”

That scene must have sent chills down the spine of Newsom’s fellow Californian, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Terminator star, who had Newsom’s current job from November 17, 2003, to January 3, 2011, was born shortly after World War II to a member of the Nazi party—a group that, under Trump, has experienced a significant revival. “My father was, and so many other millions of men were, sucked into a hate system through lies and deceit. And so, we have seen where that leads,” Schwarzenegger said in a 2023 interview.

THE WAY WE WERE: Then-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom joke around at Schwarzenegger’s ceremony to sign the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 to reduce greenhouse emissions. Though the GOP has threatened to roll back the many of the protections promised in that act, Schwarzenegger remains a member of the Republican party.

  • OpenAI picks labor icon Dolores Huerta and other philanthropy advisers as it moves toward for-profit

OpenAI has named labor leader Dolores Huerta and three others to a temporary advisory board that will help guide the artificial intelligence company’s philanthropy as it attempts to shift itself into a for-profit business.

Huerta, who turned 95 last week, formed the first farmworkers union with Cesar Chavez in the early 1960s and will now voice her ideas on the direction of philanthropic initiatives that OpenAI says will consider “both the promise and risks of AI.”

The group will have just 90 days to make their suggestions.

“She recognizes the significance of AI in today’s world and anybody who’s been paying attention for the last 50 years knows she will be a force in this conversation,” said Daniel Zingale, the convener of OpenAI’s new nonprofit commission and a former adviser to three California governors.

Huerta’s advice won’t be binding but the presence of a social activist icon could be influential as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman attempts a costly restructuring of the San Francisco company’s corporate governance, which requires the approval of California’s attorney general and others.

Another coalition of labor leaders and nonprofits recently petitioned state Attorney General Rob Bonta, a Democrat, to investigate OpenAI, halt the proposed conversion and “protect billions of dollars that are under threat as profit-driven hunger for power yields conflicts of interest.”

OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, started out in 2015 as a nonprofit research laboratory dedicated to safely building better-than-human AI that benefits humanity.

It later formed a for-profit arm and shifted most of its staff there, but is still controlled by a nonprofit board of directors. It is now trying to convert itself more fully into a for-profit corporation but faces a number of hurdles, including getting the approval of California and Delaware attorneys general, potentially buying out the nonprofit’s pricy assets and fighting a lawsuit from co-founder and early investor Elon Musk.

Backed by Japanese tech giant SoftBank, OpenAI last month said it’s working to raise $40 billion in funding, putting its value at $300 billion.

Huerta will be joined on the new advisory commission by former Spanish-language media executive Monica Lozano; Robert Ross, the recently retired president of The California Endowment; and Jack Oliver, an attorney and longtime Republican campaign fundraiser. Zingale, the group’s convener, is a former aide to California governors including Democrat Gavin Newsom and Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“We’re interested in how you put the power of AI in the hands of everyday people and the community organizations that serve them,” Zingale said in an interview Wednesday. “Because, if AI is going to bring a renaissance, or a dark age, these are the people you want to tip the scale in favor of humanity.”

The group is now tasked with gathering community feedback for the problems OpenAI’s philanthropy could work to address. But for California nonprofit leaders pushing for legal action from the state attorney general, it doesn’t alter what they view as the state’s duty to pause the restructuring, assess the value of OpenAI’s charitable assets and make sure they are used in the public’s interest.

“As impressive as the individual members of OpenAI’s advisory commission are, the commission itself appears to be a calculated distraction from the core problem: OpenAI misappropriating its nonprofit assets for private gain,” said Orson Aguilar, the CEO and founding president of LatinoProsperity, in a written statement.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Detained in Customs, Fined Over Watch | Entrepreneur

He will most certainly not be back.

Actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was detained at Munich airport over the weekend due to an extremely expensive watch he neglected to declare at customs while traveling to the country.

The watch, which was supposed to be auctioned off at a charity event in Kitzbuhel, Austria on Thursday, delayed the “Terminator” star by three hours. He said he was not given the proper form before entering to declare the possession.

Schwarzenegger reportedly agreed to prepay over $10,000 in taxes on the watch but due to customs being unable to process his credit card, he was forced to withdraw money from an ATM, which then hit a withdrawal limit.

Authorities then tried to take the 76-year-old to a bank only to find that it was closed, so another officer brought in a new credit card machine, which eventually worked.

And no, this was not the plot of a new Schwarzenegger movie.

“He cooperated at every step even though it was an incompetent shakedown, a total comedy of errors that would make a very funny cop movie,” an unnamed source told PEOPLE.

Schwarzenegger’s nonprofit, the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, plans to properly report the watch once it’s auctioned off on Thursday at the Dinner & Auction for Environmental Protection at the Stanglwirt.

The Munich Main Customs Office, meanwhile, said that it has initiated criminal proceedings against the actor for tax evasion since he did not claim the item at customs, per TMZ.

According to the German customs website, travelers must “declare funds of 10,000 euros or more” even though personal possessions brought with passengers are exempt if they are considered personal property.

However, the law states, that for “valuable objects such as jewelry, expensive digital cameras, and so on, you may be asked follow a special procedure.”

Still, the actor seems to be in high spirits.

“All is well and we look forward to a very successful charity event,” a rep for Schwarzenegger told PEOPLE.
