Interactive storytelling game Episode XOXO () is Apple Arcade’s first release of 2023. The new entry in the franchise aims to bring a premium and curated Episode experience from Pocket Gems. It includes choose your own story drama, love, adventure, and more with eight original stories (Update: the store page incorrectly mentioned five before) available from today. More will be added in updates. These stories include: Little Star, The Royal Bachelor, No Time For Love, The Secret He Keeps, Road To Wonderland, and more. Check it out here on Apple Arcade.

Barring Episode XOXO, three notable games on Apple Arcade have been updated. Angry Birds Reloaded adds in 30 new levels as a part of “Daft Piggies”. LEGO Star Wars: Castaways brings in an exclusive Attack of the Clones event to earn minifigure parts inspired by Star Wars Episode II. A new photo booth feature has also been added for selfies and more. The final notable update is Solitaire Stories hitting 3.0 with a new remixed story, two special events: Year of the Rabbit and Wuthering Height. Apple has revealed (via GodisaGeek) the new games coming to Apple Arcade this month. The highlight is definitely Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On () from Pokemon developer Game Freak. Pocket Card Jockey is one of the best 3DS eShop exclusives. Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On releases on January 20th. I’m definitely interested in playing this when it releases later in the month. As of now, the links aren’t live, but they will be in the next few hours. Check out a screenshot from the game below.

In addition to Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On, BorderLeap is bringing Illustrated . I loved Patterned from them, so will be checking this jigsaw meets word puzzle game out when it arrives on January 13th. Developer Pocket Gems is bringing the interactive storytelling game Episode XOXO to Apple Arcade this Friday. The final new game of the month is Noodlecake’s Squiggle Drop featuring more than 100 puzzles. This has players trying to build up Squiggletown by unlocking buildings and more upgrades. Gameloft’s My Little Pony: Mane Merge () is this week’s new Apple Arcade game. It is an Apple Arcade Original from Gameloft arrives as the second Apple Arcade Original. My Little Pony: Mane Merge has you going on an adventure with mini-games, matching action, and more. It also includes sticker collecting with more than a 100 stickers available with weekly challenges. Check it out on Apple Arcade here. Check out the official website here. Alongside My Little Pony: Mane Merge, many games have gotten holiday themed updates on Apple Arcade.

SP!NG has gotten its final update of the year bringing in the No Way Home Theme based on the developer’s first Apple Arcade game, one life mode, 18 new lost levels, and more. SP!NG will also be updated in 2023. The Oregon Traile brings in The Chisholm Trail, a new character class: cook, eight new achievements, and much more today. Jetpack Joyride 2 brings in the sticker album, a new Santa skin, a new Pompom jetpack, and performance improvements today. HEROish brings in new cards for all factions in multiplayer, improvements to the abilities on existing cards, level cap upgrade to 50, cross platform multiplayer, and more.

Hanx101 Trivia brings in hot seat multiplayer with two to four player support on the same device today. Goat Simulator+ brings in MMO today into the Apple Arcade app. This includes five classes, many quests, and more from the Goat Simulator MMO. The final update of the week is Subway Surfers Tag bringing in the guard’s companion as an enemy in all arenas. Once you defeat Dog, you get outfit parts. This update also has enemies spawning in waves and batteries being replaced by health. Easy Come Easy Golf () from Clap Hanz is one of my favorite games on Apple Arcade. It has been updated quite a bit since launch bringing in new modes and improvements. It recently launched on Nintendo Switch as well. Read my Apple Arcade review of it here and Shaun’s Switch review here. Today, Easy Come Easy Golf has been updated on both Switch and Apple Arcade to version 1.9.0. The highlights are Stroke Standoff play and the new level cap. Instead of waiting for other players, you can now play each hole directly as of version 1.9.0 on Switch and Apple Arcade. This aims to make multiplayer faster and more casual. The other addition is the level cap increasing to 40. This level cap requires Albatross golf shots with a specific character. Easy Come Easy Golf is out now on Nintendo Switch for $19.99 here and on Apple Arcade here. Following the major update for Dead Cells on iOS and Android a few days ago, Playdigious has brought Dead Cells+ () to Apple Arcade. As an App Store Great, Dead Cells+ includes all prior paid DLC and content updates. It also has exclusive mobile leaderboards. Hopefully updates arrive simultaneously on iOS, Android, and Apple Arcade going forward. Despite already owning this on iOS, it is a great get for Apple Arcade. Alongside Dead Cells+, many notable games have gotten holiday themed updates. Crossy Road Castle version 8.5 is out now adding in the Sticker Book with more than 100 achievements to unlock all the stickers. Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure brings in 60 new puzzles, new tournaments, and new treasure trove items in today’s update. Angry Birds Reloaded gets into the holiday mood with Red’s Holiday Calendar, Pie Hard part II, and 45 new levels. LEGO Star Wars: Castaways brings in an exclusive holiday event letting you earn holiday-themed minifigures, a new winter look for the island hub, a new Holosims level, new enemies, and more.

LEGO Brawls also has a holiday update out now with the Jingle Brawls season returning with limited-time unlocks. The final update of the week is Zookeeper World celebrating its Christmas 2022 event with new puzzles and rewards. Old Man’s Journey+ () from Broken Rules is out now on Apple Arcade as an App Store Great. Old Man’s Journey+ debuted five years on iOS, Android, and PC platforms. The puzzle adventure game about life, loss, and hope had gorgeous visuals and is a game I enjoyed revisiting on console. If you’ve not played it yet, read our review of the original here. Alongside today’s new release, a few notable games have gotten updates. Skate City has added a new level in Venice beach. This adds 21 new challenges with a new tutorial. There are also 30 new goals included in the update. Simon’s Cat – Story Time brings in 300 new levels with 25 new levels coming each week with 1.20.0 out now. What The Golf? is celebrating Thanksgiving with the “Don’t Stuff Me Now” pack and more. The recently released Stitch. adds 7 new hoops, left hand mode, improved visibility and contrast options, and some balance adjustments. Taiko no Tatsujin Pop Tap Beat brings in seven new songs including Mobile Suit Gundam music and more.

Following its recent announcement to be added to Apple Arcade, Mika Mobile’s amazing action RPG Battleheart Legacy+ () has arrived on the service as an App Store Great. If you’ve not played it yet, make sure to try it out on the service for its excellent strategic combat and customization. We chose it as our Game of the Week when it released back in 2014 and gave it 5 stars in our original review. While Apple has been bringing many classics to the service as App Store Greats, Battleheart Legacy+ is one of the few I feel like not many people talk about lately. Hopefully with it being in the service it gets a lot more people playing it. Watch the Battleheart Legacy+ trailer below:

Alongside that, many notable games on the service have been updated today. As revealed recently, the big Mini Motorways Endless & Expert update is now live. This update is the biggest one yet for the game bringing in the new Endless Mode, Expert Mode, manual zoom options, and a lot more. Read about it here. Garden Tails, the match puzzler, brings in a new garden, 115 levels, a daily login reward, and more in today’s update alongside a hints toggle option. Gameloft’s SongPop Party has a Thanksgiving event on right now with new playlists to unlock Butters the turkey as a character. Gibbon: Beyond the Trees has an unlockable encyclopedia with today’s update, new story content, new levels in the Liberation and Daily Run modes, and more.

Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins has another update with the Sky Ruins, the game’s sixth dungeon, new costumes, records, and treasures. A checkpoint system has been added to boss stages as well with some stage changes in other areas. The final notable update of the week of Crayola Create and Play+ also celebrating Thanksgiving with a lesson to teach you to draw your own turkey, the Fall Feast seasonal event, and new Dinosaur Craftables. Embroidery puzzler Stitch. () from Lumen and Tint developer Lykke Studios is this week’s new Apple Arcade release. This week’s Apple Arcade Original has you filling in levels’ areas with no gaps to complete Hoops. Stitch. features a lovely embroidery aesthetic and more than 50 regular Hoops at launch. It also ships with support for Weekly Hopes that are available every seven days, a free stitch mode, challenges, and accessibility options. It looks and sounds very relaxing. Alongside Stitch., many games have gotten updates with new content and some have gotten Halloween-themed updates this week. Angry Birds Reloaded adds in 45 new Halloween-themed levels, the Haunted House featuring Ghost Blocks, 8 new costumes, and more. Cooking Mama: Cuisine! 1.2.0 lets you make more combinations on Thursdays, a new recipe book, new achievement goals, and more today. Red Games Co’s Crayola Create and Play+ has new limited-time goodies, a Playful Pet Costume Party, the Halloween Carnival, and much more to celebrate the spooky season.

Today, Goat Simulator+ from Coffee Stain has added in GoatZ to the Apple Arcade version of Goat Simulator. GoatZ has zombies, crafting, a big map, survival mode, many new unlockables, and more. The final update of the week is Spire Blast from Orbital Knight. Spire Blast has added in 20 new levels and more as with prior updates to the game. Mini Motorways on Apple Arcade has been updated regularly since launch, and it has since hit Steam and Nintendo Switch bringing in new content and features. The Mini Metro spin-off that has you planning complete road networks with elegant visuals is getting a big update on November 3rd across all platforms bringing in quality of life improvements and new game modes. The new modes are Endless Mode and Expert Mode. The former lets you start a new city in Endless Mode or continue after a Game Over playing at your own pace. The latter features tiles and upgrades being permanent. An upgrade also cannot be selected twice in a row here. The Expert Mode has its own leaderboard for each map. The quality of life improvements include a new multi level zoom option coming to the game. I’m still hopeful that we can get cross platform save syncing across Apple Arcade, Steam, and Nintendo Switch in the future. This week, NBA 2K23 Arcade Edition () hit Apple Arcade as the newest game on the service. While games usually launch on Friday, this one arrived earlier in the week featuring new content, the ‘Greatest’ mode, controller support, and more with the updates still hitting the store today. Many notable games on the service have gotten big updates with some being halloween themed. Let’s get into them then. MasterChef: Let’s Cook celebrates Halloween with a time-limited event featuring challenges alongside special Halloween recipes and customizations. Grindstone brings in 40 levels, blueprints for the Osmutational Arrow, Cosmic Mirrow Sword, and Lighting in a Bottle Potion with today’s update. Gear Club Stradale gets its sixth update today with a new Trackday game mode, 4 new tracks, the Car cCollection feature, new achievements, and much more.

Chameleon Run+ gets its first update on Apple Arcade bringing in 4 new levels. The final notable update of the week is Air Twister with its new limited time event from now until November 25th bringing in a new weapon skin and outfits. This update also adds the extra-long Fluffy stage: Cyber.
