    Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has praised Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. While Kashyap said that he did not like a couple of dialogues in the film, he heaped praises on Dhar and his film.
    Kashyap called Dhar a top-notch filmmaker and wrote on Letterboxd, “A spy can not be a spy if he doesn’t have hate and angst against the enemy state. A soldier also cannot be soldier if He doesn’t have angst against the enemy state. On those two counts I have no issues. I have two sequences that I have a problem with. Madhavan saying – ‘Ek din aisa ayega jab jo desh ke bare me koi sochega’ and another in the end when Ranveer says ‘Ye naya India hai’. Take those two aside it’s a good film. In fact a brilliant film that entirely set in pakistan. (sic)”

    He continued, “I have known Aditya Dhar since his national award film Boond. It’s his politics. Genuine politics. Agree or disagree with it. Man is honest. Not an opportunist like others. all his films are about Kashmir. He is a Kashmiri pandit who has suffered. Either you argue with him or let him be. Filmmaking is top notch. If you love The hurt locker, zero dark thirty or house of dynamite. They are Oscar winning propaganda films about the USA. I ignored the two propaganda dialogues and loved the filmmaking and stubbornness of the film maker. And Ranveer Singh being my favourite performance. So secure. If I as a filmmaker have to argue about the politics of it, I will call Dhar. But significant film. (sic)”

    The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead, alongside Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi, among others. Designed as a large-scale espionage thriller, the film traces covert intelligence operations set against intelligence operations inspired by real events. Its second part will be released in theatres on March 19.

    Dacoit, starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, is slated to release in theaters on March 19, 2026. Ahead of its release, the makers unveiled the Hindi and Telugu teasers of the film, promising action, romance, and thrills.

    The teasers of Dacoit: A Love Story explore the dynamics between the two leads, who share a past. With the heat and chemistry between them never fading, the duo is engaged in a mission of a lifetime, turning into modern-day daakus or dacoits.

    The teasers also showcase several intriguing moments, with slick editing offering viewers a taste of the film without revealing too much of the plot. As Anurag Kashyap once again owns the screen as a deadly antagonist, the teaser also confirms Prakash Raj and Atul Kulkarni as part of the ensemble cast.

    A striking difference between the Hindi and Telugu teasers is the use of vintage songs. While the Hindi version features Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast from Akshay Kumar’s Mohra, the Telugu version uses Kanne Pettaro from Nagarjuna Akkineni’s Hello Brother.

    Dacoit marks cinematographer Shaneil Deo’s directorial debut, with the screenplay jointly written by him and Adivi Sesh. The project is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda along with Suniel Narang and presented by Annapurna Studios.

    Interestingly, the film was originally announced with Shruti Haasan as the co-lead, and the makers even released a promo featuring her. However, the actress later opted out of the project, with Mrunal Thakur stepping into the role.

    The movie is scheduled to release on the occasion of Gudi Padwa next year and will clash at the box office with films such as Yash-starrer Toxic and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2.

    Adivi Sesh was last seen in a cameo appearance in the Nani-starrer HIT: The Third Case, reprising his role as SP Krishna Dev IPS, also known as KD, from HIT: The Second Case.

    After Dacoit, the actor will be seen in G2, a sequel to his spy action thriller Goodachari.

    Meanwhile, Mrunal Thakur will soon appear alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi in the romantic drama Do Deewane Seher Mein, slated for release on February 20, 2026.

    Anurag Kashyap is one of the sharpest cinematic minds in India. Apart from being a fine filmmaker, he is an actor too who is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming web series Bad Cop. 

    Recently during an exclusive house tour with Pinkvilla, Kashyap revealed that he saw his life’s biggest screen at Ranbir Kapoor’s house.

    While giving a house tour to team Pinkvilla, Anurag Kashyap showed his screening room which used to be his bedroom earlier and was also shown in the 2020 film AK vs AK. The filmmaker-actor’s room is full of stacked film DVDs and he mentioned that most of them are yet to be brought there because his house has recently gone through renovation.

    There’s a big screen along with a projector, and comfortable sofas where he says that visitors can sleep over too. As Anurag opens up about watching films with his team, actors, and filmmakers in the room, he adds how he saw his life’s biggest TV screen at Ranbir Kapoor‘s previous home. “I don’t know abhi uska naya ghar dekha nahi main uske purane ghar ki baat kar raha hoon. (I haven’t seen his new home, I am talking about the one where he lived earlier),” he said.

    The Bad Cop actor also recalled watching films like Manmarziyaan, Kennedy, and Haseen Dillruba in his screening room.

    Anurag Kashyap and Ranbir Kapoor collaborated for the 2015 period gangster film Bombay Velvet. Also starring Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar, the film didn’t meet the desired fate at the box office. The actor-filmmaker holds immense respect for the actor and recently praised him.

    During an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, he said that Ranbir is “one of the finest actors,” while expressing his joy in watching his performances. “I see every film of his. I think he is one of the finest actors. I am delighted to watch him,” he said.

    Anurag Kashyap is currently working on an upcoming thriller as a director. The film will feature Bobby Deol, Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, and Joju George among others in the lead.

    Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal was a blockbuster at the box office and as much as it was praised, it also received a similar amount of criticism for its glorification of gore violence, and misogyny. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has now jumped in Vanga’s defense and has called out the hypocrisy of people slamming his movie.

    While speaking to Zoom recently, the Gangs of Wasseypur director admitted that he likes Vanga and has no problem with him. “Unlike a lot of people in the industry who pretend to be someone they are not, he is honest. The former kind, I think, is even more toxic. But Vanga is an honest man”, Anurag said adding he doesn’t like anything more than honesty.

    Anurag claims that ‘impactful’ Animal made the action sequences shown in previous movies seem fake. He believes, “It changed so many things in terms of real action scenes, and it was an adult film of three and a half hours.” Addressing the same, Kashyap said that his film Bombay Velvet suffered a lot due to its run-time being chopped off vehemently by CBFC.

    “I should have been stubborn like Sandeep and fought back to keep my version. You can argue with his creative vision, and he gives space to argue. But what do we do in general? We only attack and cancel people. We don’t discuss or debate”, Anurag said.

    Anurag further added that he can understand people pointing out the bad things in Animal but why no one talked about the good things. He felt everybody was ‘isolating and attacking’ Sandeep instead of having a conversation with him.

    The Black Friday director in the same conversation called out the hypocrisy of “people who criticized Animal, abused and canceled the film, and then went and watched it, despite knowing what it’s about, and then double-cancelled it.”

    Anurag questioned why everybody was only attacking Sandeep Reddy Vanga for Animal and not other people associated with the project. “Also, the film is called ‘Animal,’ not ‘human being.’ Sometimes I feel we have become overly woke. We just form opinions and accuse people,” Kashyap signed off.

Kashyap recalled he had to take emergency medicine when a fan had gifted him a box of joints at a film festival.

    During a conversation on a podcast Flip the Script with Shubra, Anurag said, “Because I’ve made Gangs of Wasseypur and Raman Raghav, people think I’m a psychopath. People are initially very scared of meeting me. And when they meet me, they get totally overwhelmed because I’m completely opposite of their perception. I can’t change that. A lot of people think that I smoke up. Often, when I get trolled, people call me ‘ganjedi’ and ‘nashedi’. But I just roll my cigarettes; they don’t even know I’m allergic to it. I get serious asthma attacks even if I smell somebody smoking pot around me.”

    Recalling a fan story from the Toronto International Film Festival, the director said, “I was in Toronto for the festival, and somebody came and said, ‘I’ve got a nice gift for you’. He had a wrapped bag, with flowers on it. And because I’m allergic to it, I can smell it from a distance. I said, ‘What’s in that bag’. He said, ‘Something you’d love’. In an interview recently, the filmmaker said that he is actually allergic to the substance, and recalled a story about having to take an emergency antihistamine when a fan gifted him a box full of joints at a film festival.

    Anurag Kashyap recently dropped a streak of videos on Instagram, recording the reaction of the audience at the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival, just before the screening of Baahubali. The filmmaker observed that whenever there was an ad display before the start of the film, one of the spectators would start screaming ‘Baahubali’ which would soon be echoed by the others present, quite promptly. Anurag further added that he was surprised to see that it has become a ritual that occurs in almost every screening. The first time I thought it was a one-off and then it happened the second time.     Anurag Kashyap has been making a lot of headlines, but not due to his film but for his unconventional behaviour and statements. Just a day ago, he claimed how he approached South Indian superstar Chiyaan Vikram for his film Kennedy, which is screened at the Oscars in 2023, and said how the Ponniyin Selvan star never got back to him. And immediately after this, Chiyyan Vikram mentioned that he himself called him, but there was no response, the filmmaker as massively trolled after this. And amid all these allegations, Manoj Bajpayee, who shares a strong bond with the filmmaker, called him a mad and eccentric man for not shooting Shool.     Shool was written by Anurag Kashyap, and it is till date one of the best films of Manoj Bajpayee. Of late, Manoj, who has been promoting his latest release, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, spoke largely about Anurag and how he is still disappointed with him for not directing Shool. Calling him a mad and eccentric man for turning down the golden opportunity of directing the film, he spoke to a publication and said,” You will not find a more eccentric man. He had work; he was in charge; he’d written Shool, but he didn’t direct it. He’s stubborn, but more than stubborn, he’s mad.”.

    When asked if Anurag wasn’t happy with the changes that were made in Shool and hence left the film, Bajpayee said,” No, that wasn’t the case. He was the writer; he could’ve directed it if he wanted to. But he had a script for a film called Paanch. You will all know that he is a ‘dimaag ka tedha aadmi (slightly eccentric man)’.     In one of his interviews, Anurag mentioned that he wasn’t happy with the last-minute changes in the script made by the producer of the film, and hence he left it.     Sacred Games features Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Pankaj Tripathi in lead roles. It is directed by Anurag Kashyap in collaboration with Vikramaditya Motwane. The show took the internet by storm when its first season was released. Everyone eagerly waited for its second chapter but when it was released a section of society was disappointed while others still await the third chapter. However, the latest development updates that Netflix has shelved the show for reasons best known to them.     In a recent interview with Mashable India, Anurag Kashyap spoke of his popular web show Sacred Games and his interest in working on the third season. Anurag wished to do a lot of work in fact he did start but states OTT doesn’t have the courage right now, after Tandav everyone is scared. He said, “OTT ki aaj ke date me himmat nahi hai.     The director further revealed that he is no longer interested in working for OTT as he is not allowed to use surnames for characters, and not allowed to show stuff as they exist. If he can’t keep things real he would rather not do it. Anurag mentioned that he cannot do hygienic work and prefers to do work he enjoys.

    Tandav had ignited a lot of controversies ahead of its release. Across six states numerous complaints were filed claiming the show hurts religious sentiments. Tandav is Amazon Prime Video’s popular Indian political thriller web series. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar it stars Saif Ali Khan, Kritika Kamra, Sunil Grover, Gauhar Khan, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in leading roles.
