Awards season is going full steam ahead, and after a trip across the pond for the BAFTAs, it’s back stateside today—more specifically, a return to Los Angeles, for this evening’s SAG Awards.

The annual Screen Actors Guild Awards celebrate the best acting in film and television, as voted on by SAG-AFTRA members. Along with a shiny trophy, winning a SAG Award also comes with the honor of acknowledgment and recognition of industry peers. This year, Barbie and Oppenheimer each scored four nominations, leading the film pack in terms of the most nods. For television, Succession came in hot with five nominations.

The 30th SAG Awards kick off this evening at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California, and for the first time ever, will stream live on Netflix, starting tonight (Saturday, Feb. 24) at 8:00 pm ET. There will not be host for the ceremony, as has been the case for the past four years.

Before the main event, though, there’s the red carpet, which always delivers major memorable style moments. Below, see the best red carpet fashion from the 2024 Sag Awards.

  • Cinema Might Be the Secret to Personal Style

Cinema Might Be the Secret to Personal Style

    [ad_1]

We’re living in the heyday of fast fashion. TikTok microtrends are churned out faster than most brands can keep up with and toxic “dupe” culture has convinced us that it’s always better to pay less to participate in trends — despite the environmental and social impact of major fast fashion brands. Is getting one picture in a polyester dress really worth the hours of child labor that went into it, and the eternity that piece of plastic masquerading-as-fabric will spend in a landfill?

Fast fashion giants like SHEIN have convinced us not to think about those pesky problems. Instead, they draw our attention to their cheap prices and sponsored influencer hauls. In an age of hyperinflation, who can be blamed for seeking a bargain?

But there’s another consequence of the reign of TikTok style: everybody dresses like everybody else.

Personal style is a relic of the past. I used to spend hours in New York’s SoHo, window shopping and people-watching to get aspirational fashion inspiration. Now, all the stores and the shoppers look exactly alike. It’s algorithm fashion. Everybody is wearing the same trend-du-jour, paired with a different color variation of the Adidas Sambas.

While I too love to participate in trends that resonate with me (through vintage shopping as much as possible), I often find myself thinking: what is my personal style? I don’t want to dress how I did in college, but I fear that the past few years of social media trends has infiltrated my closet more than I think, erasing any sense of individuality and peculiarity from my closet.

It is after all, the unique and strange things about how you dress and how you style your clothes that make up your personal style. But now that I can’t turn to people-watching or even Pinterest for fresh, new style inspiration, I’ve gone back to basics: watching movies.

Personal stylists like Allison Bornstein or Tibi’s Amy Smilovic have amassed platforms — and both written books — about cultivating personal style in an overwhelming sartorial landscape. And both of them advise us to use three words as our anchors. The idea is this: pick three words that, when you go to get dressed, help you build an outfit that feels true to who you are. These words aren’t “pear-shaped” or “autumn color palette,” but rather words about your character and your inspirations. Words like “edgy,” “romantic,” or “pragmatic.” To find these anchors, I’ve started going back to my favorite movies to discover a whole new vocabulary.

How you dress is a reflection of who you are and what you like. This is why so many TikTok “cores” take inspiration from esoteric lifestyle ephemera, not just specific items of clothing. It’s about world-building. And where better to find worlds that inspire you than in movies and television?

I’m partial to 90s movies just like I’m partial to 90s style. Movies like Love Jones, 10 Things I Hate About You, Basic Instinct, and even Mary Kate and Ashley’s Passport to Paris (I was destined, it seemed, to have a toxic love for The Row) have a sartorial chokehold on me. The 2000s romantic comedy also can’t be ignored, so add How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Under the Tuscan Sun, andLove and Basketball to the roster. Plus anything Gwenyth Paltrow has ever been in, like Sliding Doors, Great Expectations, and The Talented Mr. Ripley.

When I think about it, the most generative content that has helped me navigate my life, and style, as an adult has mostly been television and cinema. As a former Tumblr girl, I am no stranger to analyzing film screencaps and making them my entire personality. And over the past few years, titles like Hulu’s High Fidelityhave actively influenced my purchasing decisions more than any influencer. And who wasn’t sartorially inspired by Euphoria?

Now that I’m looking for style inspiration in movies and TV, I see potential in everything I watch. A color palette from a Regency-era TV show, a silhouette from a 90s period piece, an unexpected styling choice by a quirky character.

And in 2023, the year that the SAG actor’s strike halted a season’s worth of press tours, this was the perfect year to find fashion in film rather than in promotional material. Good thing we had a glut of good movies with great style to choose from. Here are some fashion highlights from the best movies in 2023:

    Barbie

Barbie was a marketing masterpiece. Pretty much a two-hour advertisement for Mattel, the film didn’t pull any fashion punches. From Barbie’s custom Chanel to her cowboy two-piece and even the pink jumpsuits, every moment in this film was a masterclass in style. No wonder Barbiecore reigned supreme this year. Even Ken had his moments — the double denim, the leather vest, and, of course, the “I am Kenough” sweater.

    Bottoms

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Bottoms is proof that we should all be dressing like lesbians. It’s a menswear masterpiece for any gender. Lots of layers, lots of overalls, and an enviable collection of vintage tees were all major style moments in this film.

    Strange Way of Life

This stylish cowboy short film was the star of the Cannes Film Festival 2023. Some have called it filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar’s Answer to Brokeback Mountain. This queer Western, starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal, might seem like an odd choice — until you realize it’s styled by the fashion house Saint Laurent.

    Sharper

This Apple TV film was not talked about enough — despite its all-star cast of Sebastian Stan, Julianne Moore, and Justice Smith. A movie about con artists, how you dress and how you appear is a major theme of the story. So no surprise that, with all the talk of quiet luxury this year, Julianne Moore’s ensembles are a stunning rival to Succession style.

    She Came to Me

This odd indie film was a feast of perfectly crafted characters with fashion moments that felt so precise to the core of the characters. The female leads, Marissa Tomei and Anne Hathaway, are no strangers to iconic cinematic attire. Hathaway plays an uptight, wealthy therapist whose wardrobe is another quiet luxury dream for the Brooklyn townhouse creative class. But to me, nothing beats Tomei’s ensembles as a tugboat captain addicted to romance. The juxtaposition between her worker’s coveralls and her corsets is so sumptuous it’s a play I’ll be replicating in my own closet. Carhartts, you’re about to be dressed up with vintage lingerie.

    May December

This chilling character study is another film where appearance is everything. Natalie Portman’s character mirrors Julianne Moore’s character in her quest to embody her essence, copying her clothes and her makeup in a disturbing display. But most surprising is Charles Melton’s dad style in this film. The rugbies and New Balance combo is just at home on this tragic character as it is on fashion girlies in London and NYC.

    Scrapper

Starring Harris Dickinson as a young father, this might seem like an odd choice. But this was the year of Scumbag Style and Blokecore (hence all the football jerseys and sports sneakers you’ve been seeing around) and no movie better encapsulates this than Scrapper. Plus, I can’t get enough of Dickinson’s bleached blonde hair in this.

    Priscilla

Sofia Coppola’s genius is that of perspective and aesthetics. And with a subject as fascinating and fashionable as Priscilla Presley, this film was a fantasy for the Tumblr girl in me and for the year of “girlhood.”

    Asteroid City

It’s Wes Anderson. Need I say more?

    Daisy Jones & the Six

One of the great television triumphs of the year, this series was a feat of world building and nostalgia. It brought 70s style back and gave us some style moments that will likely go down in history. It’s our generation’s Almost Famous.

  • If You Trust Anne Hathaway and Sydney Sweeney, Buy This Anti-Skinny Pants Trend

If You Trust Anne Hathaway and Sydney Sweeney, Buy This Anti-Skinny Pants Trend

    [ad_1]

In all honesty, I’ve been anticipating a shift of the pendulum away from baggy pants and jeans lately. It’s been the reigning pant trend for quite some time now, and a shift seems inevitable, but Anne Hathaway and Sydney Sweeney just pretty much solidified that the time has not come for baggy pants to fall from favor. In fact, their chosen pants proved quite the opposite.

Both actresses have been in NYC promoting their latest projects this week and both were photographed wearing very wide-leg pants. The word “baggy” doesn’t even do these pants justice. Hathaway wore a pair of white wide-leg pants with a purple cardigan while Sweeney wore ultra-wide-leg jeans with a black vest and floor-length coat. The shoes they wore hardly matter because you can barely see them…

One theory I have is that pants will get as big as possible before we revert back to skinny pants. Or big pants might be here to stay. Time will tell. In the meantime, keep scrolling to shop ultra-wide-leg pants for yourself.

  • Anne Hathaway Just Wore the Pant Trend That's Eclipsing Skinny Jeans

Anne Hathaway Just Wore the Pant Trend That's Eclipsing Skinny Jeans

    [ad_1]

Prepare to say so-long to your skinny jeans, because Anne Hathaway’s chic tapered cargo pants are about to take over. The actress was spotted wearing in New York City wearing a bright white Des Phemmes suit, complete with sparkly embellishments, Bulgari jewelry, and matching silver Jimmy Choo pumps. We’ve got to admit it’s one of our favorite celeb looks of the season thus far.

Cargo pants have made a comeback lately, but these aren’t the same baggy styles from the early aughts. Hathaway’s chic pants combine multiple pockets with a slim, tapered leg, allowing for a more flexible silhouette. Go big and blousy on top, or pair the pants with a cropped jacket or tank; it’s all about playing with proportions until you get a look that’s just right.

Ahead, shop 10 pairs of white cargo pants in an array of fits, materials, and price points. Keep it chic and simple, or bring on the bold sunglasses and bling. The accessorizing is totally up to you.

    [ad_1]

If there’s one thing Anne Hathaway has down, it’s being able to look effortlessly glamorous. No matter the occasion, we can always count on Hathaway to show up looking polished but not overly done up. Last week, Hathaway channeled this uncomplicated aesthetic at a special screening for her new movie, Eileen, at the Whitby in New York City.

To celebrate the release of the highly anticipated psychological thriller, Hathaway wore a ’70s-inspired brown sleeveless sweaterdress with fringe. To match, celebrity hairstylist Orlando Pita styled her hair in loose, undone curls. According to Pita, the inspiration behind Hathaway’s look was “70s undone glamour.”

Pita also shared the step-by-step breakdown of how he styled Hathaway’s hair for the event. Luckily, it couldn’t be easier to try at home. The products also happen to be on sale at Amazon for Black Friday with a coupon, so it’s the perfect time to try out Hathaway’s look using the exact products Pita used on her.

Mark My Words: Anne Hathaway’s Shiny Shoes Are the Next Big Trend

    [ad_1]

If you’d have asked me at age eight what my favorite pair of shoes was, I’m pretty sure they would’ve been a gleaming pair of patent leather Mary Janes. Thirty years later, that shoe choice would still make perfect sense. As you’re well aware, every fashion trend comes back around, and Anne Hathaway is the latest example of the return of this particular one.

While walking through New York over the weekend, Hathaway paired a long coat and cropped jeans with a pair of patent leather Christian Louboutin loafers. Our editorial team has been buzzing about the return of patent leather pretty much nonstop as of late, and it’s worth mentioning that two of the most important It shoes of the season (Miu Miu’s Kitten Heel Slingback Pumps and Saint Laurent’s Lee Slingback Pumps) are made of patent leather.

Given Anne Hathaway’s current status as one of the most stylish women in Hollywood, I think you can trust her taste on this one. With that, scroll on to shop the season’s best patent leather shoes.

  • Anne Hathaway Recalls Being Told That Her Career Would Fall Off When She Turned 35: “Something I Know a Lot of Women Face”

Anne Hathaway Recalls Being Told That Her Career Would Fall Off When She Turned 35: “Something I Know a Lot of Women Face”

    [ad_1]

Anne Hathaway is reflecting on how she was told when she was young that she would only be successful until she hit a certain age.

In an interview with Porter Magazine, the actress opened up about her decades-long career and major fashion moments of the last year, at the hand of stylist Erin Walsh.

“When I started out [in this industry] as a child, I was warned that my career would fall off a cliff at the age of 35, which is something I know a lot of women face,” Hathaway told the publication. “The thing that has evolved during [that time] is that more women are having careers deeper into their lives, which I think is fantastic.”

However, she acknowledged there is still progress to be made.

“Obviously, it doesn’t mean we should have a ticker-tape parade – someone said this to me the other day: ‘There’s so much to be proud of, and there’s so much to fix,’” she added.

Elsewhere in Porter‘s cover story, Hathaway also looked back on her long list of films from earlier in her career that resonated with people when they came out and still do to this day. From blockbusters like Brokeback Mountain and Interstellar to rewatchable coming-of-age movies like The Princess Diaries and The Devil Wears Prada, Hathaway cemented herself across several generations.

“It is such a sweet feeling to know that you’re kind of woven into someone’s life,” she said. “I can’t describe the honor of knowing that I’m involved in the moments where people need comfort. It makes me really excited that my journey as a performer has connected with people. I love [when] projects have a life beyond their initial release.”

Last year, Hathaway starred opposite Jeremy Strong in Armageddon Time and Jared Leto in WeCrashed, among other projects. This year, the actress has two films that are hitting theaters almost back to back. She Came to Me, also starring Peter Dinklage and Maria Tomei, released Oct. 6, while William Oldroyd’s Eileen, in which she portrays a 1960s prison psychologist, launches Dec. 8.

In January, at the world premiere of Oldroyd’s psychological thriller, the actress recalled one of the first questions she ever got asked when she started acting was, “Are you a good girl or a bad girl?”

“I was 16, and my 16-year-old self wanted to respond with this film,” she said of Eileen. “Though I did not know that when I read the script, I think a part of me hoped for this exact moment.”

Anne Hathaway Solved the What-Type-of-Jacket-to-Wear-With-Fancy-Dresses Problem

    [ad_1]

I don’t know about you, but I find figuring out what jacket to wear with a fancy dress to be surprisingly challenging. In the winter you can just put on a long wool coat and look instantly chic but in the fall when you don’t need something quite as warm, what’s a person to do? Anne Hathaway has an idea.

While attending a screening in New York last week of her new film She Came to Me, Hathaway wore a pink sequinned bustier dress from The Attico with sheer sparkly pumps. It was a decidedly “fancy” look with no obvious type of light fall jacket style to pair with it. But Hathaway knew exactly what to do. Post-red carpet, she topped it off with a cropped denim jacket, and it looked cool and perfect. Denim jackets are as versatile as it gets, and I like how nicely they contrast with a dressed-up outfit.

Keep scrolling to see Hathaway’s look for yourself, and shop denim jackets that would look amazing with a gown (or anything else).

  • Anne Hathaway and Rebecca Miller on Creating a Giddy Love Story for Everyone

Anne Hathaway and Rebecca Miller on Creating a Giddy Love Story for Everyone

    [ad_1]

Being the hyper-organized person she is, what do you think draws her to someone like Steven, who feels a bit messy in life and his decisions?

AH: [Me, Rebecca, and Peter Dinklage] had a lot of conversations about that, about what it is, and the fact that their beginning would have been really messy. Falling in love with a patient is a really big deal. I actually called a therapist I know to say, “Walk me through exactly how this would work,” because I sensed it was a big deal, and she talked me through exactly why it’s such a big deal. They just got hit by this really strong need to be together, and I think they honored it and respected each other so much. They were ultimately such a safe choice for each other, [in] that they were both suffocating.

Peter and I had a lot of conversations about how do we have anti-chemistry, like in a way that brings the audience in. We don’t want to repel people with the anti-chemistry, but you have to be like, “Oh yeah—no, no, no.” Also not in a violent way. The way we usually think about people who shouldn’t be together is they’re miserable in these really toxic ways, and it’s like [Patricia and Steven] are not necessarily toxic. It’s not like that, but neither one is particularly thriving.

RM: They are functional as a couple.

AH: They are so functional. They are functional to the point of dysfunctional.

Can we talk about her faith and why she is so drawn to the Catholic church?

RM: I think that finally real faith is a bit of a mystery. I don’t think you can say, “I have faith because of this.” The way that I wrote her is that she has a father who is Jewish, her mother was Catholic, but she went to Catholic school. She’s a person with a big religious capacity, and some people are born like that. That was the religion that she finds herself more and more keenly drawn to. I don’t think there’s a logic to that, and that’s one of the things that undercuts her very logical secular life, is this other thing. It’s, in a funny way, this wild part of her, even though we don’t necessarily see religious faith as being that, but I think at its purest form it is.

AH: It’s funny. I was really lucky I got to go to the opening night of the opera in New York, and it was Dead Man Walking. I think we’re all familiar with the story, and in it, there’s an aria where the lead character is describing herself. She’s a nun, and she’s saying Jesus was a hothead, and so am I, and I just remember thinking, “Oh that’s funny. We don’t often think about it in those terms.” For Patricia, what Rebecca is saying is really interesting—that idea that she has these urges. She has these desires, and they are really out of step with what we understand to be a modern woman.

Part of the reason that she is having a hard time opening up to them is because it doesn’t make sense to her. It doesn’t make any logical sense, and she doesn’t know what part of herself she has to deny in order to follow this path, but ultimately, it is a mystery. I think that there’s a very long, continuous streak of mystics in our species in our history, and she is one of them.

RM: It doesn’t match her life—it pulls her apart.

AH: She has such a mystical life, but it kind of bubbled up inside of her until she couldn’t repress it anymore.

Anne Hathaway Is an Incredibly Private Mom of 2; Here’s Everything We Know About Her Sons

    [ad_1]

You know Anne Hathaway as an onscreen princess (hello, “The Princess Diaries”!), but did you know she’s also a mom of two? Since marrying her husband, Adam Shulman, in 2012, the actor has welcomed two boys. Although Hathaway’s incredibly private about her home life, she’s shared snippets about her little ones here and there.

On July 24, 2019, Hathaway announced that she was officially expecting her second child. In an emotional Instagram post, she shared that it “was not a straight line” to either of her pregnancies, alluding to struggles conceiving, and encouraged other women who are experiencing infertility to hang in there.

In October 2022, Hathaway opened up about how having kids has made her pickier when selecting projects. “I have to say, the ‘kids’ thing has been the biggest shift,” she told SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show,” per People. “That’s kind of reprioritized everything, so it’s actually made me a bit choosier because something really has to be so excellent to spend time away from them because they’re so precious to me.” She added, “They’re the most sacred part of my life by a long shot. And then when I do accept something, it puts greater pressure on me to make it worth the time that I’ve spent away from them.”

Read on to learn everything we know about Hathaway’s sons so far.

    Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman

Hathaway and Adam welcomed their first child, Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman, into the world on March 24, 2016. Like some celebrities who enjoy their privacy, Hathaway doesn’t typically share photos of Jonathan on social media.

In a January 2021 interview with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show,” Hathaway said that staying home with Jonathan — or “Johnny” as she calls him — amid COVID-19 has been relatively easy. He “believes everything we tell him, and that’s adorable as well as very useful,” she explained. She also noted that his gullible nature made parenting around the holidays a breeze, especially when he refused to share with his little brother. Apparently, mentioning that Santa is watching his every move is “so powerful.”

    Jack Shulman

While we don’t know his exact birthday, Hathaway confirmed the name of her son Jack in an October 2020 episode of “Live With Kelly and Ryan,” saying, “Now I have a beautiful almost-11-month-old boy, but I was pregnant when I made ‘The Witches,’ so technically he’s all over that performance.” According to the mom of two, her sons couldn’t get along better. “Now Jack’s big enough to wrestle with, and that’s brought a new element to their relationship that’s really cute,” she said.

From her breakout roles in “The Princess Diaries” and “Ella Enchanted” to her recent performances in “Armageddon Time” and “WeCrashed,” Anne Hathaway has embarked on quite the impressive style transformation, today positioning herself as a connoisseur of all things glamour on the red carpet. With Bulgari and Versace campaigns under her belt and a taste for other high-end luxury labels such as Valentino, Ralph Lauren, and Armani, she is now expected to make a sartorial statement at any event she attends. Hathaway, 40, works with stylist Erin Walsh on her outfits, which have recently taken on an edgier tone thanks to touches of patent leather, shorter hemlines, and even ornamental embellishments like sequins or the beaded hood she wore to Bulgari’s high jewelry event in Venice, Italy.

Most recently, Hathaway marked her partnership with Shiseido as Vital Perfect global ambassador, and she slipped into an intricate gold vegan leather leaf paillette gown from CD Greene to mark the occasion. With a shimmering, sheer-paneled bodice that caught the light at every turn and a natural glow courtesy of makeup artist Gucci Westman, Hathaway turned heads. Her long, brown hair was swept into an elegant side part by Adir Abergel, and finishing touches came by way of strappy, minimalist gold sandals, Bulgari serpent stacking rings, and diamond-encrusted architectural earrings that cascaded from her ears just like the scale-like pattern on her dress.

Ahead, catch a glimpse of Hathaway’s recent appearance, then go back in time and admire how her looks have indicated a markedly different aesthetic through the years.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski’s relationship has been much-adored by their colleagues as well as the Internet. The banter and jokes they share seem to crack up everyone and netizens love to see them together: be it their fun or their emotional moments. Just like the time she dedicated her 2019 Screen Actors Guild Award to him and he got really teary-eyed.

While there have been countless fun and hilarious moments between Blunt and Krasinski who got married in 2010, one fun moment was when he joked that he only married Blunt because Anne Hathaway was not single but married to Adam Schulman. Here’s what The Office star said about the moment and what the context of the amusing joke was.

Anne Hathaway Wore the Anti-Trend Outfit Every French Girl Owns

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen as many French-girl signature items in one non-French-girl outfit as the one Anne Hathaway just wore while visiting Venice, Italy. Hathaway, who has been in town for a Bulgari event, dressed for the rainy weather earlier this week in the most low-key French girl-inspired outfit you’ll ever see. Burberry trench coat? Check. Striped sweater? Check? Oversized sunglasses? Check? Silk neck scarf? Check? Block-heel boots? And check. See what I mean?

While a French girl in a trench coat and striped sweater may seem a bit cliché, some clichés are true. I’ve found that many people who live in France have a classic aesthetic, and Hathaway’s outfit exemplifies it to a T. Hers is a classic, versatile outfit that will truly never go out of style. • The Girls are Girling. The Mothers are Mothering.

The Girls are Girling. The Mothers are Mothering.

    [ad_1]

At the Bulgari jewelry show in Venice, Italy on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, nobody was looking at the accessories. After all, what good are jewels when the girls are the girling?

All eyes were on the parade of party guests, pulling out all the stops in custom designer gowns. I don’t know what it was about this jewelry launch, but the crowd of celeb guests was dressed to the nines. Some of these looks rivaled the Met Gala 2023 looks — which is why they instantly went viral.

Case in point: Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Priyanka Chopra.

As Bulgari brand ambassadors, the trio brought their best — posing for a flurry of now-viral photos while they were at it.

The photos were giving peak Hollywood glamor — no subdued Sofia Richie style in sight. Bold cuts and bright colors were paired with big Bulgari statement pieces. They are the moment. They are the It Girls.

Anne, who is still sending her major fashion renaissance and prepping for a film with Michaela Coel, continued her streak of custom Versace looks. She donned a Donatella Versace design, just like she did at the Karl Lagerfeld-inspired Met Ball. In contrast to the white tweed of two weeks ago, this look was metallic gold and silver with a boho-inspired hood.

Priyanka Chopra — whose latest role is a sexy spy thriller Citadel, starring her and Richard Madden — wore her signature red lip with a deep pinkish, almost-red gown.

In contrast, Zendaya wore a black, sleek look inspired by old Hollywood glamor. Zendaya’s elegant custom Richard Quinn gown made us anticipate the Dune press tour even more — if that’s possible.

Also dressed in bold black, Lalisa Manobal (aka Lisa from Blackpink), who is another Bulgari jewelry ambassador.

All this to say — mothers are mothering. And if this is what red carpet summer looks have in store for us, I can’t wait.

7 Controversial Airport Outfits Celebs Manage to Pull Off Flawlessly

    [ad_1]

Celebrities, they’re just like us. Except when they’re not at all. When jetting to and from their red carpet appearances, traveling to film on location, or simply heading on their own vacations, the Hollywood crowd plays by a set of rules all their own, at least when it comes to what they wear to the airport. You’d think that some of the most well-traveled A-listers would have their travel style down pat, but the styling choices we’re about to dive into here say otherwise.

Yep, today we’re discussing all the daring, controversial, and downright risky fashion choices celebs have been making while heading to the airport, from boldly wearing an all-white ensemble to stepping out in tall stilettos and even donning heavy-duty leather pieces. There’s no question that the seven looks below are anything short of flawless, but I’ll be the first one to say it: the idea of recreating them for myself makes me, well, squeamish. And sure, if you’re a celeb catching a flight you’re probably not roughing it like the rest of us in the main security checkpoint or even heading to a major airport if you fly private, but nonetheless these outfit choices are puzzling ones for any kind of air travel.

  • Your Favorite Celebrity Was Styled By Law Roach…Now What?

Your Favorite Celebrity Was Styled By Law Roach…Now What?

    [ad_1]

Last week, the fashion world was taken by surprise as Law Roach noisily retired from styling. The famed stylist is known for saving the fashion careers of many celebrities, pulling them out of tone-deaf, trendless outfits and into the world of serving absolute looks. If you’ve loved what a celeb is wearing, Law Roach probably styled them.

He’s the wizard who turned Zendaya into Cinderella for the Met Gala (
who also styles her boyfriend, Tom Holland), he’s the maven who re-branded Celine Dion’s style. But the fashion industry is both cutthroat and rarely without drama. Law took to Instagram to announce he was retiring for good, and that the industry had seemingly “won.”

But retirement can mean so many things. Tom Brady has retired from football twice now. So it’s safe to say that people have questions when it comes to Law Roach’s sudden retirement post.

    Is Law Roach Retiring?

People love giving credit where credit is due – and as such, stylists have their very own fan bases.
The Guardian likens this phenomenon to Rachel Zoe’s Zoe Bots, which spawned her own spinoff show and fame in her own right, and not just for styling Lindsay Lohan.

This just means Law Roach will be fine if he’s not styling everyone anymore – he’ll be sitting on a million Instagram followers and a networking catalog that most would kill for. He has some of the biggest names in Hollywood behind him like Zendaya herself. In other words, Law Roach probably isn’t going anywhere.

The dramatic, shady Insta post wasn’t Law stepping away from fashion altogether, as he told
Vogue. And it most definitely isn’t due to the fact that Zendaya didn’t save him a front-row seat at Fashion Week this year – or that he asked Emma Stone to give up hers. Law Roach is taking his career into his own hands, far away from “the politics, the lies, and false narratives” that Roach credits for his retirement from celebrity styling.

    Law Roach told
    AP,

“I just wanna breathe. I wanna fly. I wanna be happy,” Roach said. “I wanna figure other things out.”

    Who Has Law Roach Styled?

His looks have been seen on Anne Hathaway, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ariana Grande, and Bella Hadid. Law has created a multi-million dollar empire styling clients for photoshoots and red carpet appearances, while collaborating with some of the biggest fashion houses in the world.

This year’s Oscars showcased Megan Thee Stallion, Hunter Schafer, Kerry Washington, Eve Jobs, and Hailee Steinfeld, all dressed by Roach. Most of which ranked as the most talked about looks of the evening – so who’s going to style them now?

Law Roach and Zendaya at the Met Gala 2019

    David Fisher/Shutterstock

And while each and every look was a slay and a serve in their own respect, no two looks were similar. In fact, each look was praised in their own ways, for different reasons. It’s something Law Roach talks about with The Cut.

“It’s always the narrative of, “Oh, he’s never gonna treat you the way he treats Zendaya. You’re gonna get what she doesn’t want.” And that’s not true, because none of my clients ever look the same. Like, I don’t use edits.

I don’t walk around with suitcases of edits that Zendaya didn’t want and offer ’em to other people. It’s always those narratives, and I’ve lost a bunch of clients that I really care for and really wanted to work with because of the gatekeepers.”

Law even styled Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, who told People that a stylist (seemingly Roach) informed her she wasn’t “sample sized.” While Law Roach told The Cut that this conversation didn’t happen in the way she framed it, it was an example of the false narratives he cited in his retirement.

    What’s Next For Law Roach?

More recently, Roach was spotted making his modeling debut for Boss. Law Roach strutted the runway in good company amongst Pamela Anderson, Naomi Campbell, and Precious Lee. He told Vogue,

“I don’t think I have any challenges. I’m a fucking diva! Even if they were to put me on a 10-inch high heel I would be walking that runway. The little gay boy in me—I’m living out a dream! The hair, the makeup, the look they chose for me: it’s literally a dream!”

  • Anne Hathaway’s Next Movie Role Involves More Fashion And Music

Anne Hathaway’s Next Movie Role Involves More Fashion And Music

    [ad_1]

    By Miguel A. Melendez, ETOnline.com.

ET can confirm Anne Hathaway is set to star in the David Lowery-directed musical “Mother Mary”.

The Academy Award-winning actress will star alongside Emmy winner Michaela Coel for a film dubbed as “a pop melodrama that follows a fictional musician, played by Anne Hathaway, and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer, played by Michaela Coel.”

Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX are set to write and produce original songs for the upcoming film, which is also written by Lowery. Toby Halbrooks, James M. Johnson and Lowery will produce alongside Jeanie Igoe of Homebird Productions and Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo and Jonathan Saubach of Cologne-based augenschein Filmproduktion.

“Mother Mary” will be filmed in Germany. Deadline was first to report the casting news.

Hathaway, who put her fierce fashion style on display in Paris back in January, is no stranger to the fashion and music world with brilliant performances in “The Devil Wears Prada”, “Ella Enchanted” and “Les Misérables”, which earned her an Oscar and a Golden Globe in 2013 for Best Supporting Actress.

Coel, an actress and screenwriter, was the first Black woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series in 2021 for “I May Destroy You”. Nobody will ever forget her stunned and speechless reaction after making history at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards.

  • Mother! Michaela Coel and Anne Hathaway to Star in “Mother Mary”

Mother! Michaela Coel and Anne Hathaway to Star in “Mother Mary”

    [ad_1]

There are some things you know instinctively: when to avoid an empty subway car, when to cut a toxic person right out of your life, and when you’ve decided to adopt a movie as your entire personality before you’ve even seen it.

The latter, I sensed about Tar. I know it about the forthcoming Barbie film. And now, I’m sure about the recently announced film, Mother Mary, starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel.

A24’s upcoming feature film was just announced and they’re not sharing very much. But what they have revealed has us on the edge of our seats yearning for a film that hasn’t even started shooting yet. Picture me – like Nicole Kidman in that AMC ad — staring at the screen in awe, practically drooling. I don’t know what awaits me, but I’m certain it will change me.

    via AMC

Here’s what we know so far:

The plot: The film has been described as “an epic pop melodrama following a fictional musician (Hathaway) and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer (Coel).” I have no clue what this could mean but I’m already on my knees, begging for more. Will it be a fun, lighthearted blockbuster like the underrated Tracee Ellis Ross x Dakota Johnson feature, The High Note (2020)? Or will it be a tortured portrait of an artist and their muse? Most importantly … will it be sapphic? These are the questions, people!

The screenplay was written by David Lowery, director and frequent A24 collaborator behind The Green Knight and A Ghost Story. He also recently wrote and directed Disney+’s forthcoming Peter Pan & Wendy. His repertoire’s mixed bag makes me curious about the tone of Mother Mary, and what will come of this high-budget experiment.

The music: As an “epic pop melodrama,” it seems obvious that the music of the film will be critical. Which explains why Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX — two of the hottest names in pop music — have been tapped to pen its pop hits. I see Oscar noms for Best Original Song in their future.

Rightfully so, the internet is freaking out. A cry of “mother!” was heard around the world when this announcement dropped. I mean, the word “mother” is literally in the title.

I, for one, am so excited to see both Coel and Hathaway return to campy, energetic roles — this after being immersed in dramatic films for the past few years.

Hathaway was most recently in Eileen, a psychological thriller based on Ottessa Mosfegh’s novel of the same title. And then there’s Mother’s Instinct alongside Jessica Chastain and The Idea of You on Amazon.

Coel is best known for her intense drama — I May Destroy You — as well as her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. But I adored Coel singing and dancing in the British indie film Been So Long — so I hope we get to hear her voice in this film, too.

Whatever they give us, I’ll eat it up. Mother Mary is slated to begin filming in Germany this year — and it can’t come soon enough.

“Listen—no time to explain, but in 2027, someone known as ‘Mr. Beast’ is nominated for Best Director for a film called Coincidentally Spearman. He must not win! If this happens, a timeline is created wherein billions will perish. I have to go—I’ve used all of my time credits on this final jump, and if I stay around any longer, the multiverse will implode.”

Anne Hathaway Wore the Pretty Shoe Trend Everyone Will Wear With Jeans This Year

    [ad_1]

New(-ish) fashion icon Anne Hathaway is in Paris for Couture Fashion Week, and she’s been keeping us on our toes with one incredible look after another (see here and here). One of her most casual looks of the week thus far featured a pretty (and somewhat flashy shoe trend): metallic shoes. Hathaway paired silver Western boots with wide-leg jeans and a peacoat, with the boots providing just the fashiony jolt the look needed during Couture Fashion Week.

Metallic shoes have been popping up more and more on the market and in my Instagram feed, and other chic celebrities (like Katie Holmes) have also worn the trend as of late. Not only that, but they were also worn by half of all of the models that walked in Chanel’s couture show this week (a gold cap-toe sock boot, to be exact). I happen to think that metallic shoes are the perfect match for jeans and I highly recommend investing in a pair if you’re a regular denim wearer (or not—they kind of go with everything).

Read on to see the aforementioned metallic boots in action and shop some of the internet’s chicest pairs.
