  • Box Office Trends: Jolly LLB 3 set for another jump on Sunday; Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi film aims at Rs 52 crore in 3 days

    The Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi led Jolly LLB 3 is continuing with its solid run at the box office in India. After collecting Rs 31.50 crore in 2 days, the Subhash Kapoor directorial is looking to collect in the range of Rs 20.00 crore to Rs 21.00 crore on the third day as per the very early box office trends, taking the opening weekend collections to Rs 52.00 crore.

    The film will end up recording a surge in collections despite the India v/s Pakistan match, and this is reflective of the positive audience word of mouth. With almost Rs 52 crore in the bags over the weekend, Jolly LLB 3 will now be looking at a good hold in business on Monday, and aim to rake in Rs 25 crore over the next four days. This would take the first week collections around the Rs 80 crore mark, and then begins the journey to emerge as the #1 film of the franchise, topping Jolly LLB 2 (Rs 108 crore).

    The weekend trend ensures the HIT tag for Jolly LLB 3, as the film is sure to zoom past the Rs 125 crore mark, and the hold on Monday will give an idea about how far can it go over the coming two weeks. The plus for Jolly LLB 3 is the fact that the film has begun to gain some momentum in the mass belts too, and this should help it leg out better.

    Jolly LLB 3 will be the third success for Akshay Kumar in 2025, and probably the first hit of the year – helping him get back the momentum of doing well at the box office. The success of mid-size films is a must for survival of the Hindi Film Industry, and 2025 is turning out to be the year where films from across genres are tasting theatrical success.

    These are just estimates based on very early trends, and the actuals could vary upside or downwards depending on the hold in business in the shows post 7 PM.

    The Khiladi of the Hindi Film Industry got his Indian Citizenship on August 15. He took to social media to inform the world. He posted a picture of his Indian Citizenship with the caption, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!”

    Some years ago, personal circumstances made him opt for Canadian Citizenship. However, despite that he has been among the highest taxpayer in the last decade. Canadian Citizenship made him face taunts and hate over the years on social media, but now, he is finally an INDIAN on paper too.

    Akshay Kumar riding high on OMG 2 success

    Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is currently riding high on the success of his recently released social dramedy, OMG 2. The film features him along with Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam and is all headed to enter the Rs 100 crore club soon. His next is The Great Indian Rescue, which is a biopic of Jaswant Singh Gill. His other projects include KC Shankaran, Sudha Kongara’s next, and the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

    The Khiladi of Hindi Film Industry, Akshay Kumar, is at present on a tour to the US for his live concert titled The Entertainers. Soon after, he will air dash to Europe to commence work on the international schedule of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The actor will be shooting for this Ali Abbas Zafar directorial with Tiger Shroff through summer and call it a wrap by end of April.     “Akshay Kumar is teaming up with Dinesh Vijan for the first time on an aerial action drama titled Sky Force. The actor plays the role of Indian Air Force Officer and the film celebrates one of the biggest victories of Indian Air Force. The story is based on true events and the team is looking to start working on Sky Force from May 2023,” revealed a source close to the development.

    The pre-production work is currently going on in full swing, and according to sources, Sky Force will also introduce a fresh face to the Hindi Film Industry. “It has Akshay Kumar as an Indian Air Force Officer and he will be joined by a new comer playing his junior. The film has an interesting track of mentor and protegee, side by side all the action and drama,” the source added.

    Akshay Kumar to play an Indian Air Force Officer

    In Sky Force, Akshay will be seen as an air force officer for the first time and the film will be an ode to the IAF. “There’s lot of research that has gone into the script and the team wants to celebrate the Indian Air Force with ample of responsibility. Even the action sequences in the film will be heroic but rooted in realism,” the source concluded.

    Give how the advance booking had proceeded, both the trade and film industry didn’t seem too optimistic of the Ram Setu box office collection going into Diwali, but Ram Setu has managed to spring a major surprise at the box office, as the film has blown away all expectation in mass belts. The numbers for the Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer are pretty decent in A centres, too, but it’s mass belts that have really driven the collections, giving the trade something to cheer about, especially with a long Diwali weekend in the offing.

    As per early reports in the trade and our tracking of the box office, it looks like Ram Setu is set to open at ₹15-16 crore nett, and could even go a little higher once the fnial number come in. From the morning shows itself, the movie sprang a huge surprise, registering an all-India occupancy of 30-35%, which, as mentioned before, was not expected given the state of advance booking. Several shows of the Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer ran housefull in UP, MP, Bihar, Gujarat and Rajasthan from noon onward while big-city multiplexes were decent throughout the day.

    Ram Setu takes second best opening for Bollywood in 2022

    The Ram Setu box office collection day 1 pegs it as the second best opener of 2022, way below Brahmastra, which has collected ₹36 crore nett, but just ahead of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which had collected ₹14.11 crore nett. In fact, in a territory like CI, the film has collected even more than Brahmastra – inconceivable up until yesterday morning.
