    A Hollywood man beat a pedestrian with a metal object and then ran them over with his Tesla Model Y in a bizarre, violent fit of road rage that landed him behind bars Tuesday, police said.

    Enrique Agustin Santana, 35, is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, first-degree attempted homicide and leaving the scene of a traffic crash with serious bodily injuries, Hollywood police said.

    Shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday, a 46-year-old man and a woman were walking on Johnson Street toward North State Road 7 when an argument kicked off between Santana and the man, an arrest report read.

    Santana hopped out of his Tesla and beat the man with a “metal object” before getting back in his SUV and driving away, according to police. The man kept walking with the woman when they noticed Santana’s grey Tesla barreling toward them, officers reported.

    Santana drove onto the sidewalk, slammed into the 46-year-old man, who flew over the car and hit the pavement, and then fled, the report read.

    Hollywood officers rushed to 911 calls about the altercation and the victim was taken to the intensive care unit at Memorial Regional Hospital due to “several skull fractures and brain bleeds,” police said.

    Detectives found Santana thanks to eyewitnesses and having the Tesla’s license-plate information, police also said. When officers went to his home to arrest him, his Tesla was damaged with fluid leaking underneath it, they said.

    A fugitive who stabbed a man in the neck on the sands of Miami Beach late last year was arrested Thursday night after weeks of searching and pleas for the community’s help, authorities say.

    Jack Daniel Gutierrez, 24, is facing a charge of aggravated battery with great bodily harm. As of Friday night, he was still behind bars without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, jail records show.

    On Oct. 23, an unnamed man took a stroll on the beach and sat near a lifeguard tower near the 1700 block of Miami Beach, according to an arrest report.

    According to police:

    Gutierrez approached him and asked for a cigarette, the man told him he didn’t smoke.

    Undeterred, he asked if he could use the man’s cellphone; the man refused. He thought Gutierrez walked away, but he instead suddenly ambushed him with “a knife or bladed weapon.”

    He tried to fight off Gutierrez, but he felt a puncture to his neck before Gutierrez ran off, leaving him profusely bleeding. Miami Beach police were called and officers saw the man had a “large laceration along [his] neck from ear to ear,” the report read.

    The man was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

    Detectives spent the next weeks combing city cameras, which captured Gutierrez walking behind the man before the attack and running away after, the report said.

    A flyer was sent out citywide using the surveillance video. In early December, police found and temporarily held Gutierrez. It’s unclear why he was released or when he was later put in a photo lineup, which was shown to the victim, who identified Gutierrez as his attacker.

    He was subsequently arrested on Thursday.

    A man was sentenced to 27 years in prison in a shooting that left one dead and another injured, New Mexico officials said.

    In June 2024, Jamil Lewis was with two friends when they ran into brothers, Gerald Ibuado and Edward Ibuado, in Albuquerque, the Bernalillo County district attorney said on Facebook.

    Gerald Ibuado punched a man who owed him money, and his brother “rushed over to help,” prosecutors said.

    That’s when Lewis pulled out a gun and fired, fatally shooting Gerald Ibuado and wounding his brother, officials said.

    Lewis was arrested a month later on unrelated charges when he was accused of trying to steal a holster, officials said.

    He pleaded guilty in June to murder, aggravated battery and being a felon with a gun, officials said.

    A habitual felony offender and prison releasee reoffender was convicted again in Central Florida.

    After a two-day trial, a Volusia County jury found defendant Don Murphy III guilty as charged of Aggravated Battery and Robbery by Sudden Snatching.

    On February 15, 2021, a woman was walking to her boyfriend’s house in Daytona Beach when she ran into Murphy and another woman on Dr Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard.

    The victim told detectives that Murphy asked her for a lighter, which she declined. The defendant then tried to take her purse. Video surveillance shows he pinned the victim to the ground and punched her multiple times before leaving the scene with her purse.

    The victim received life-threatening injuries including several internal bleeds, a collapsed lung and fractured ribs, but recovered at the hospital. Murphy was identified by the victim and was arrested.

    Immediately following the verdict, the defendant was sentenced to 30 years in prison as a habitual felony offender and a prison releasee reoffender.

    The case was investigated by the Daytona Beach Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Helen Schwartz successfully tried the case for the state. The Honorable Elizabeth Blackburn presided over the case and pronounced sentence.
