A man who threatened to kill his mother inside a car was arrested in Lakeside using GPS tracking Saturday afternoon, police said.
Officers were called about 11:45 a.m. to assist a neighboring agency with a domestic disturbance, Lakeside police said in a social media post.
Police said a 911 caller reported hearing a man screaming at a woman, “threatening to kill her.” The woman was later identified as the man’s mother.
Using GPS data from the woman’s phone, police determined she and the man appeared to be in a vehicle, police said.
Officer C. Thibodeaux, who did not have information regarding the make and model was able to intercept the vehicle, after seeing a woman in the back left seat of a black Nissan Rogue, “hanging out of the window and waving frantically in distress, screaming for help,” police said.
Thibodeaux stopped the car, arrested the man and rescued his mother and a small child who were inside, police said.
The man is facing charges of aggravated assault causing serious injuries and unlawful restraint. He also has had multiple felony warrants from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, police said.
Police did not release the man’s name after his arrest.
“The actions of Officer C. Thibodeaux exemplifies the best of law enforcement professionalism and service and we would like to recognize his heroic actions,” Lakeside police department said in the post.

Sep. 25—WILKES-BARRE — A Wilkes-Barre man made the choice in June when he opted for a trial before a Luzerne County jury instead of accepting the “best plea agreement.”
Luis Angel Soto Madera, 56, was acquitted earlier this week on a felony charge of aggravated assault and two misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment stemming from a shooting inside his Sambourne Street, Wilkes-Barre, house on June 20, 2023.
Court records alleged Madera was angry that his stepdaughter made a noise that awakened him and he fired a shot in the direction of the woman and her boyfriend.
The shooting resulted in a several hours standoff that involved troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team. When the house was breached, Madera was not inside resulting in police labeling him “armed and dangerous.”
Madera is not out of the clear just yet as he faces a firearm offense — illegal possession of a firearm, from the same incident.
Madera was presented with a plea agreement from prosecutors on June 18, which was described as the “best plea agreement.”
Madera rejected the plea offer and opted for jury trial, which was held Tuesday before Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr.
The jury deliberated for nearly 90 minutes before finding Madera not guilty on charges of aggravated assault and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.
Attorney James J. Scanlon represented Madera.
Madera’s next court appearance on the firearm offense is scheduled for Nov. 3.
The judge determined there was enough evidence to proceed with charges of rape, false imprisonment, and aggravated assault against Muhammad Muhammud, who has been held without bond in Fulton County Jail since his arrest last month.
The judge’s decision was influenced by the officer’s admission of having sex with the alleged victim and his presence at the scene without being dispatched, according to Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes.

Muhammad Muhammud, a former Atlanta police officer, was arrested following an incident on June 5th where he allegedly raped a massage therapist at his apartment while on duty.
Investigators reported that Muhammud called the alleged victim to his apartment for a mobile massage, which took place on a mattress on the floor as the apartment was empty except for a large TV.
The alleged victim claimed that Muhammud agreed to pay $160 for an hour but sexually assaulted her a few minutes into the session.
After leaving the apartment, the alleged victim called 911, and Muhammud reportedly climbed into her ambulance while she was speaking to first responders, prompting her to yell ‘rapist’ and become unable to speak.
The judge noted that the main issue in the case is consent, along with the events surrounding the alleged crimes.
The incident took place in the 1000 block of S. Charles Street in Baltimore, Maryland, after the Ravens beat the Commanders on Oct. 13.

PLAINFIELD, Ill. — A Plainfield man accused in a violent attack against his girlfriend is facing a handful of charges, according to Joliet police.
Officers say 52-year-old Jonah Madia has been charged with domestic battery, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, unlawful possession of ammunition, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm, endangering the life or health of a child, manufacture and delivery of cannabis, possession of cannabis, and possession of explosives.
Authorities say the charges were handed down after Madia allegedly beat his girlfriend and threatened to shoot her at a home in Plainfield on Friday night.
Joliet police say officers were first called to the home in the 6300 block of Clifton Court, just before 9 p.m., after reports of a loud disturbance.
Officers say when they arrived on the scene, they were let into the two-story home by a 6-year-old child and after entering the residence, officers immediately heard a disturbance on the second floor.
Officers say they went upstairs and found Madia in a bedroom of the home where he was detained. His 38-year-old girlfriend was then located in another bedroom.
According to police, an investigation then revealed that Madia had allegedly grown angry with his girlfriend, grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head against a wall several times, causing her to fall to the floor.
Authorities say following the alleged attack, it is believed that Madia allegedly retrieved a gun from a bedroom and pointed it at the woman while threatening to shoot her. He then allegedly fired the gun two times into the bathroom floor and once into the bedroom floor.
Officers say the woman was not struck by gunfire.
Following an investigation, officers say they retrieved a loaded gun from the bedroom.
While taking Madia into custody, authorities say they spotted suspected cannabis and narcotics in the home.
After securing a search warrant, detectives searched the home early Saturday morning and allegedly recovered over 800 grams of suspected cannabis, suspected LSD, commercial-grade fireworks and ammunition.
Authorities have not provided details on how the child is related to the suspect or the victim.
