CBD Provides Symptom Relief and Improvement in Gastroparesis – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

Pharmaceutical-grade cannabidiol (CBD) relieved symptoms in patients with idiopathic and diabetic gastroparesis and increased tolerance of liquid nutrient intake after 4 weeks of treatment in a phase 2 randomized double-blinded, placebo-controlled study recently published in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

There is “significant unmet medical need in gastroparesis,” and compared with cannabis, which has been used to relieve nausea and pain in patients with the condition, CBD has limited psychic effects with the added potential to reduce gut sensation and inflammation, wrote Ting Zheng, MD, and colleagues at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

The researchers assessed the symptoms of 44 patients (21 randomized to receive CBD and 23 to receive placebo) – each of whom had nonsurgical gastroparesis with documented delayed gastric emptying of solids (GES) by scintigraphy for at least 3 months – with the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society’s Gastroparesis Cardinal Symptom Index (GCSI) Daily Diary.

They measured GES at baseline, and at 4 weeks, they measured GES again as well as fasting and postprandial gastric volumes and satiation using a validated Ensure drink test. (Patients ingested Ensure [Abbott Laboratories] at a rate of 30 mL/min and recorded their sensations every 5 minutes.) The two treatment arms were compared via 2-way analysis of covariance that included body mass index and, when applicable,…

Anyplace Raises $5.3 Million to Accelerate Expansion of Remote Work-Friendly Rentals

    [ad_1]

Flexible-term rentals featuring a fully-equipped workspace available in major U.S. cities.

    Press Release

    Jan 24, 2022

Anyplace, a marketplace platform for flexible-term furnished housing, announced today that it has raised $5.3 million in Series A financing. The round was led by GA technologies; Jason Calacanis, Launch Fund, Keisuke Honda, and East Ventures also participated. Together with this latest round, Anyplace has raised a total of $8 million. With the inflow of new capital, the company will continue to expand its network of remote work-friendly apartments in major cities across the United States.

Over the last few years, remote work has become the norm, allowing millions of people around the world to experience a work-from-anywhere lifestyle. This newfound freedom has led to a surge in demand for flexible-term rentals. However, most of the accommodations available rarely guarantee high-speed internet or provide a comfortable workspace, making it difficult to confidently choose a place that can ensure the same productivity levels as a home office.

“As a remote team that embraces traveling while working, we had an inside perspective of this problem and saw the need for a solution,” says Steve Naito, co-founder of Anyplace.

“That’s why we created accommodations specially designed for remote workers called Anyplace Select. Every Select apartment has a fully equipped office setup unlike anything found in other rentals or even at coworking spaces. It includes a height-adjustable standing desk, ergonomic chair, 34-inch ultra-wide monitor, professional microphone, webcam, collapsible green screen, laptop stand, docking station, key light, and more. WiFi speed will never be an issue either, as all units have gigabit internet.”

Anyplace Select has launched in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and New York City. This round of funding will allow the company to aggressively expand its inventory to meet the rising demand in those cities, while simultaneously opening remote work-friendly apartments in additional locations in the United States.

“We aim to become the go-to accommodation platform for remote workers. Broadening the footprint of Anyplace Select is our path to solidify this position.”

Anyplace Launches Anyplace Select, a New Type of Accommodation Designed for Remote Workers

    [ad_1]

Featuring a fully-equipped workspace that no other accommodation platform provides.

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 16, 2021

Anyplace, a flexible housing marketplace, has launched Anyplace Select, apartments designed specifically for remote workers that include a fully-equipped office and gigabit internet in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City.

Due to the pandemic, remote work has become the norm, allowing people to experience the work-from-anywhere lifestyle without having to quit their jobs. However, hotels, vacation rentals, and other accommodation options do not cater to the needs of these professionals; they often have slow internet and don’t provide a comfortable workspace.

Anyplace Select is a new type of accommodation that makes it easy for remote workers to be productive while traveling and living in major cities across the United States. Select units are furnished apartments with a luxurious home office setup that is unlike anything found in rentals or even co-working spaces. The turn-key workspace includes an adjustable standing desk, ergonomic chair, ultrawide monitor, microphone, webcam, key light, green screen, keyboard, mouse, computer speakers, and a laptop stand. Each unit has ultra-high-speed internet with speeds up to 1,000 Mbps.

“The recent growth of remote work has made it possible for millions of people to work from anywhere, yet most people still work from home,” said Co-founder of Anyplace, Steve Saturo Naito. “One of the main reasons is that accommodations away from home often lack necessities that allow professionals to be highly productive, such as high-speed internet, ergonomic office furniture, and auxiliary monitors. We believe that remote work-friendly accommodations will be the standard in the future, and we launched Anyplace Select to accelerate that future. By expanding Select units in the United States and then around the world, we are one step closer to our mission: Make it easier for people to live and work where they want, when they want.”

Anyplace Select apartments are flexible-term, available for 30 days or longer without the requirement of signing a 6-12 month lease. Book now in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City. Additional properties will be opening in U.S. locations this fall.

LearningRx Shreveport Has Earned a Board-Certified Cognitive Center Designation

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: May 14, 2020

LearningRx Shreveport is the first LearningRx Center in the nation and the first center of its kind in Louisiana to become a Board Certified Cognitive Center (BCCC), granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

The BCCC designation is awarded to organizations whose staff have completed an evidence-based training and certification program focusing on autism, ADHD, anxiety, and dyslexia in school-aged learners. The Shreveport center has shown its team’s dedication to providing the best possible outcomes for everyone they work with by completing the IBCCES program.

“Though we are proud of our results and the success our clients achieve with the help of our cognitive skills training programs, we know it’s important to hear what others in the scientific community have to say about our Brain Training Center,” said Donesa Walker of LearningRx Shreveport. “We are especially proud to be known as a Board Certified Cognitive Center because we are the best in the business and it is great to achieve the status so that others may know and come to love us as the best in the world at brain training.”

LearningRx provides clinician-delivered cognitive training to clients who range in age from 5 to 95. Their “brain trainers” sit one-on-one with clients and use a variety of hands-on manipulatives to train cognitive skills including working and long-term memory, visual and auditory processing, reasoning skills, processing speed, and attention.

“One of the core values that guide our daily performance is ‘excellence,’” reports Kim Hanson, CEO of LearningRx Brain Training. “We strive for excellence in customer service; excellence in program results; and excellence in the training of our team members—the Center owners, directors, and brain trainers who interact with our clients every day.” Hanson adds, “Our partnership with IBCCES allows us to expand that excellence by providing team members with a series of certifications that buoy their leadership abilities and enrich their competencies in ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia, and autism. • Autism Action Partnership Has Earned the Certified Autism Center ™ Designation

Autism Action Partnership Has Earned the Certified Autism Center ™ Designation

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 16, 2019

Autism Action Partnership (AAP) has become a Certified Autism Center™, making it one of only two organizations in the state of Nebraska to attain that designation. The CAC designation is granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

AAP is a public not-for-profit foundation founded by Gail Werner-Robertson and Scott Robertson. The foundation has been working to create and fund programs that fill critical gaps in Nebraska autism services since 2008. Pursuing this level of professional training and certification aligns with the Mission Statement of AAP, “To improve the quality of life of persons on the autism spectrum and their families through education, advocacy and support, thereby enabling them to be an integral part of the community.”

AAP’s diverse programming provides critical services to students needing to improve their social skills (Circle of Friends), adults securing permanent employment (PACE), families seeking enrichment opportunities (Making Memories), professionals wanting to promote the safety of those with autism (BE SAFE, Project Lifesaver), and businesses and community venues looking to be more inclusive. The certification process involved concerted professional development to ensure a level of expertise for all staff, in providing the above services. Four AAP employees now carry credentials as Certified Autism Specialists, and one holds an Autism Certificate.

“Autism continues to become more and more prevalent in our society, with 1 in 59 children (CDC 2018) being diagnosed. As such, it is critical for communities to advance their understanding of autism and create more inclusive practices and environments. Locally, AAP has seen an increase in the number of businesses and community members seeking education about autism and guidance on how to become more ‘sensory-friendly’. In response, AAP determined that all staff should maintain an expertise in these matters and that this expertise should be measured and verified by an external authority,” said Justin Dougherty, AAP Executive Director. “IBCCES was the obvious choice for both their in-depth training programs and worldwide recognition. We are extremely proud to have earned this certification and are confident that our collective expertise was advanced through this process.”

For almost 20 years IBCCESS has provided training and certification for education, healthcare, travel, law enforcement, and corporate professionals worldwide who aim to provide quality care to those with special needs. IBCCES is the only training and certification program endorsed by Autism Society and focuses on working with industry leaders to ensure professionals who work with individuals on the spectrum are trained and certified in autism and other cognitive disorders.

“The continued growth of our partnerships with public not-for-profits like Autism Action Partnership (AAP) is a positive sign for the communities served by these organizations,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman. “We are excited AAP has taken the necessary steps to achieve the CAC designation and are proud of the work that they do.”

Over that time, the diagnosis and prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has grown significantly, worldwide and locally. Press Release

    updated: Nov 15, 2018

Zoo Miami is committing to ensure all visitors, even those with sensory needs or on the autism spectrum, have an amazing experience. As part of this commitment, the Zoo recently earned the Certified Autism Center designation, which is awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to organizations who have completed a training and review process with the goal to better serve individuals with autism and other sensory needs.

“Zoo Miami aims to provide each guest with an enjoyable visit and is proud to be designated as a certified autism center. Our staff has undergone training to be able to better serve guests with autism and other special needs,” said Carol Kruse, Zoo Miami Director.

Zoo Miami aims to provide each guest with an enjoyable Zoo visit and is proud to offer specialized services to guests with autism and other special needs. We have highly trained staff to serve the fastest growing population of developmental disorders.

    Carol Kruse, Zoo Miami Director

Parents with children on the autism spectrum often find new experiences and traveling to new destinations a challenge due to sensory needs, dietary restrictions and safety concerns. For almost 20 years, IBCCES has been the industry leader in autism training for licensed healthcare professionals and educators around the globe. IBCCES recognized that many families with children with special needs have limited travel options and created programs specifically for the hospitality and travel industry.

“We believe it’s important to ensure all guests can experience the world around them in a safe way,” said Myron Pincomb, IBCCES Board Chairman. “Our Certified Autism Center designation is awarded to premier organizations who have completed rigorous training and meet the highest industry standards, and we’re so excited to work with Zoo Miami on this initiative.”

In addition to the certification, Zoo Miami is working on creating sensory bags for special needs guests that contain noise-canceling headphones and fidget toys or stress balls before the end of the year. Quiet places will also be identified within the zoo by the first quarter of 2019. In preparation for Autism Awareness Month in April, Zoo Miami will also provide Zoo Sensory Guides to ensure the best possible experience for guests with disabilities.

Rather than relying on the growing number of organizations promoting “autism-friendly” options that can vary widely, more parents are now seeking out destinations that have completed research-based training and professional review. IBCCES also created AutismTravel.com, a free online resource for parents that lists certified destinations and connects families to other resources and each other. Each destination listed on the site has met Certified Autism Center requirements.
