    [ad_1]

If you’re not already following J.Crew creative director and head designer Olympia Gayot on Instagram, I highly recommend it. Not only is the ’90s-vibe catalogue content a treat, but her occasional office mirror selfies act give you a heads up as to which chic new J.Crew pieces you’ll want to jump on.

Obviously J.Crew is still busy giving us their classics: Easy denim, great-value cashmere knits, and loads of other quality basics to wear on repeat. But now we’re also seeing some buzzy collaborations and regular high-trend moments, such as this fall and winter’s slew of red and metallic pieces, the polished layer affectionately know as the “lady jacket”, and more Mary Janes than we know what to do with. Here are the chic pieces of the moment that you won’t want to miss.

Chic, Not Trendy: 27 Nordstrom Items for Effortless Style

    [ad_1]

So, my official mantra at the moment is ‘fewer, better things’, but if I’m allowed to have a second, it would be ‘chic, not trendy’. But look, as I write this I’m sitting here in my Sambas—so I’m clearly not anti-trend, nor am I immune to a bit of hype. That being said, I have been doubling (and tripling, even quadrupling) down on certain fashion styles and silhouettes for a few years now, and it feels like over the past few years, new iterations of these classic pieces continue to be shoppable each season.

Perhaps the algorithms have just learnt to keep serving me up more of the quiet luxury they’ve figured out I like? Whatever it is, there’s no shortage of fashion on the internet right now that feels timelessly chic, with just nod to this season’s trends. I’ve curated the best shoes, bags, apparel, and winter accessories from Nordstrom that capture this energy. Some picks are designer, some are a bargain, and all of them are very worth your time.

The Secret French Bag Brand Only Fashionable People Know About

Polène bags are stand-alone sculptural masterpieces, but once on the arm of the wearer, they become instantly reflective of taste and character. Started by three siblings, the French fashion house sources its leather from Spain and Italy, and production takes place in the Spanish town of Ubrique. Such inimitable, sleek shapes at an under-$500 price point are rare, so it’s no surprise fashion savants quickly recognized the brand as a street style staple. With some of the most popular silhouettes named after numbers (the Nine, pictured above, is a wavy pouch with flexible draping on the sides, and the Ten is a half-moon saddle bag with a long adjustable strap), it seems like there’s a purse made for every aesthetic and vibe.

According to Polène’s site, there are five best-selling bags that we’ve outlined below, which range in price from $210 to $500. Of course, there are special editions of each, from croc-nubuck treatments to canvas and even all-over shearling. They also come in different sizes, with minis and adorable micros in the mix.

As you’ll see from the outfit inspiration we’ve curated ahead, pairing any sophisticated and minimal Polène bag with wardrobe basicscasual denim ensembles, or night-out looks is easy. It’s that time of year… no, we’re not talking about the holiday season but rather the point when you begin to get the itch for massive change. With a new year on the horizon, it’s only natural to become dead-set on dramatically shifting your life. For most, that change comes from setting resolutions, but for fashion people, it means overhauling your look entirely. While there are multiple ways to go about this mission, not everything will give you that fix without regrets after. Dyeing your hair? You could come to hate it. Or cleaning out your closet? It’s too big an undertaking. Basically, some changes are a bit over the top, but not all hope is lost.

There’s one simple way to feel like you’ve done something without any of the pitfalls: swap out your jewelry. When in doubt, adopting a few new jewelry trends can freshen up your look without breaking the bank on an entirely new wardrobe. But if you’re unsure which jewelry trends will offer you that “shiny-new” feeling, don’t fret. We’ve got you. Ahead, we’re breaking down the six biggest winter jewelry trends based on their prominence in F/W 23 collections and S/S 24 collections that are sure to be instant hits. Trust us when we say these trends will indeed transform your life (or, at the very least, your style).

  • Maya Winston on the Inspiration Behind His Luxury Handbags and Maintaining Cultural Identity

Maya Winston on the Inspiration Behind His Luxury Handbags and Maintaining Cultural Identity

The 2020 racial reckonings heightened awareness across many industries, especially fashion, ushering in a new era where BIPOC designers were supported and given the voice they deserve. This push paved the way for more Black-owned brands to emerge on the scene, and one newcomer has managed to set themselves apart from the rest — Maya Winston. In just one year of business, the Jamaican-born designer, now based in New York City, has created a luxury accessory label that’s known for its viral handbags uniquely crafted in the Asia Pacific and the Middle East, including their small leather tote, most popularly worn by Angela Simmons, Tia Mowry, and Remy Ma.

“It’s just those Jamaican roots; we can make anything fashionable.”

Winston has since catapulted into the luxury bag market with a brand identity that’s just as rich as the quality of his pieces. At 11, he migrated with his family to the US, where he learned firsthand how to sew from his mother, a sought-after seamstress, establishing the foundation of the Maya Winston brand. “Growing up in Jamaica, my mom was always making everyone’s clothes, and as far as I could think back, I’ve always been surrounded by sewing machines, where I would often stitch my uniform whenever I messed it up,” Winston tells POPSUGAR. “It’s just those Jamaican roots; we can make anything fashionable. Take nothing and make it into something.”

With over a decade spent cultivating his love for design (even starting the men’s streetwear line Terry Winston in 2013, once worn by Teyana Taylor), the Bronx native transitioned to creating accessories for the elevated and confident woman, regardless of demographic. His highly-coveted bags have also captured the attention of major companies like Samsung, which resulted in an exclusive collaboration during New York Fashion Week that included a fireside chat with Winston and a billboard in Times Square. “I always told myself, I’m going to have a billboard one day. But I never stopped to think about what it would look like or its message,” he says. “It was surreal, and Samsung was the perfect company to get consumers to know the face behind the name; it just made sense.”

Ahead, Winston opens up about the future of his brand, cultural identity, the impact of racial inclusivity, and more. Keep reading for the full interview and shop his signature pieces.

  • The $15 Trend That In-the-Know Fashion People Are Wearing With *Everything*

The $15 Trend That In-the-Know Fashion People Are Wearing With *Everything*

    [ad_1]

If you’re simultaneously obsessed with the latest micro-trends and too intimidated to test them out, you’ve come to the right place. This is Ways to Wear, a monthly series where editor Eliza Huber offers a dose of outfit inspiration focused on current trends that feel intriguing yet overwhelming at the same time. Consider it your guide to actually wearing the coolest items of the moment, no matter how puzzling they might appear at first.

Even the chicest outfits can fall flat sometimes if they’re missing a certain level of oomf. Everything about them can be perfect, from the fit to the color combinations and so on, but without that finishing touch that ties it all together, the sartorial spark will never light. And right now, the easiest and most cost-effective way to fire up your outfits is with hosiery. Yes, I said hosiery, and no, I don’t mean pantyhose.

From red and burgundy tights to knee-high sheer socks, the world of hosiery is one full of possibilities. And of all the leg décor that’s trending among fashion people this year, the style making the most significant impact by far is fishnets. Once considered tacky and more than a touch costumey, in recent seasons, the latticed tights have received a dressed-up makeover, with brands such as Gucci, Tory Burch, and Victoria Beckham pairing them with elegant dresses and separates, adding a touch of intrigue to every combination. They balance out any outfit, ensuring that no ensemble ever risks being called boring.

  • I'm Convinced That This $20 H&M Accessory Is the Secret to Looking Rich

I'm Convinced That This $20 H&M Accessory Is the Secret to Looking Rich

    [ad_1]

There are certain items that fashion girls just know will take an outfit from 0 to 100, or better yet, from $50 to $5000. But unlike some people, I don’t like to gatekeep. In fact, I’m so gabby, I can hardly keep anything in for long. And of all the outfit-making pieces that myself and the rest of this industry swear by to elevate any and every ensemble, none do the job as well as a good belt—period.

Because of my sharing nature, this story was my first stop after I stumbled across what I can only describe as the chicest and most designer-looking belt on the market, an item that just so happens to cost only $20 and be in stock in every size. Courtesy of H&M, the belt in question is crafted out of a subtle croc-effect black faux leather with gold, Western-style hardware. And while it only just dropped, given how nothing lives on the shelves at H&M for long—trust me, I’ve been burned by the retailer’s speedy sell outs more than once—it is essential that you and I both act fast if scoring the below waist embellisher is a priority, which it certainly should be. Scroll down to snag one before it’s too late.

The 10 Best Sunglasses on Amazon to Suit Every Style and Budget

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

No matter the season, sunglasses are a staple accessory that completes our every look. Whether your drawers are overflowing with sunnies of every shape, style, and color, or you’ve been relying on the same trusty pair for a decade, we can all unanimously agree that they’re both stylish and practical. According to the American Optometric Association, a good pair of sunglasses is key to preventing eye and vision problems caused by ultraviolet (UV) rays. According to their guidelines, an effective pair should snugly fit the face, block out 99 to 100 percent of both UVA and UVB rays and boast lenses with consistent coloration.

However, not all sunglasses on Amazon may meet these safety standards, especially among the most affordable options. The hardest part is choosing a pair that strikes the right balance between safety and style while aligning with current sunglasses trends. To help, we curated a list of 10 popular, highly rated styles on Amazon at a range of price points, starting at $9. We included a mix of styles, from narrow, rectangular frames to oversized ones, and even brand-name favorites from Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Maui Jim, among others. Keep scrolling to shop our selection, and remember: for expert suggestions tailored to your eye health, speaking with an optometrist is your best option.

I can’t be the only one who’s feed on every social media platform is currently home to a seemingly endless assortment of ’90s Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy photos. Chic, sophisticated, and always dressed to the nines in a seemingly effortless manner, Bessette-Kennedy is the modern woman’s style icon for a reason. So anytime that I find an item that’s even remotely similar to one she frequented back then, I have to buy it. End of story.

Well, that’s exactly what happened today when I was scrolling through J.Crew and stumbled across a $25 tortoiseshell acetate headband that looks shockingly similar to the style Bessette-Kennedy wore on repeat, either with her corn-blonde hair worn straight and down or tied up in her signature chignon. Bucket bags are back like they never left and Hollywood’s most stylish celebrities are embracing the unique silhouette in a whole new way this season. What started as an obsession with the sleek, wear-with-anything crossbody from the likes of Mansur Gavriel and Loewe quickly escalated into a statement-making competition. Now, when ladies shop for bucket bags, they’re reaching for the most unique variation they can find — think quilted denim with a nod to ’90s fashion, floral embroidery, and pom-pom add-ons all included.

Taylor Swift styled a croc-embossed bucket bag from Stella McCartney on a recent girl’s night outing in New York City alongside Selena Gomez and Brittany Mahomes, while Katie Holmes capped off her summer wardrobe with a raffia bucket bag in tow. Karlie Kloss and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have made their affinity for bucket bags well-known over the years. And in any given street-style roundup, you’re bound to find a few A-listers rocking one of Mansur Gavriel’s (many) iconic bucket-bag silhouettes.

As for this season’s styles, the bags aren’t meant to blend in — but that’s not to say you can’t find designs that go with the bulk of your wardrobe. Avant-garde shapes in plain colors are just as eye-catching when they come complete with oversize circular handles or raffia finishes. The satchels we’ve gathered below aren’t typical, but they do appeal to a wide range of styles, which only means one thing: you’re bound to be swinging a brand-new bag in no time. Ahead, we rounded up the best bucket bags to shop this season — from affordable Amazon styles to coveted designer pieces and more.
