CULVER CITY, Calif. (KABC) — The Westfield Culver City mall was evacuated Thursday night after a fire at a Target store, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to the store around 7:30 p.m. when the fire forced shoppers to flee. The entire mall was evacuated as a precaution and closed early.

“Target is in the interior of the shopping center and connects, so the smoke that may have traveled from the fire location could have possibly impacted any customers inside the shopping center,” Culver City police spokeswoman Jennifer Atenza said.

In an update late Thursday, Culver City police reported firefighters fully extinguished the blaze.

    No injuries were reported.

Details on the cause of the fire are under investigation, but it appears to have started somewhere in the grocery area.

Arson investigators will be reviewing security video from inside the Target and mall.

Target’s store hours may be impacted Friday due to unspecified damage caused by the fire.

Los Angeles firefighters were called to help the Culver City Fire Department.

Culver City police advised the public to avoid the area as cleanup efforts are underway.
