Suspected drunk driver strikes patrol vehicle, injures 2 deputies following pursuit, Precinct 4 says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Two deputies were injured, and one was taken to the hospital, after a suspected drunk driver led police on a chase on New Year’s Eve, according to Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office.

Investigators said the incident started in the 20000 block of Kenswick Drive near Humble, where the suspect first hit a Constable patrol car and then drove away.

Pct. 4 reported that during the chase, the suspect hit and injured two deputies before crashing into another patrol car nearby.

Deputies said they quickly caught the suspect, who showed several signs of being intoxicated.

Herman’s Office said both injured deputies were treated at the scene, and one was taken to the hospital for more care.

Investigators said the case is still under investigation and more details will be shared when available.

Herman’s office did not say how serious the deputies’ injuries were or whether they were in a vehicle when the suspect hit them.
