DENVER (KDVR) — After burning 1,557 acres, destroying five homes and leading to one person’s death since igniting on Tuesday, Boulder officials announced Sunday evening that the Stone Canyon Fire had reached 100% containment.

The Boulder Office of Disaster Management reported that after four days of no growth in the fire’s size, the fire’s true acreage was mapped by Geographic Information System specialists using information from the multi-mission aircraft flight at 30,000 feet.

The fire’s command has been turned over to Boulder County. Information on the fire’s response can be found through the Lyons Fire Protection District.

The fire started Tuesday near Lyons, leading to some evacuations for the town. The evacuations were lifted the day after they were implemented, although some homes did not have electrical service when residents returned.

Additionally, at least four firefighters were injured fighting the fire and the whole county is now under Stage 2 fire restrictions.

On Saturday, the Boulder agency announced that all evacuations for the fire had been lifted, while the blaze was at 90% containment. There are also no roadblocks still in place.

On Thursday, Boulder County officials said that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was assisting with the investigation into the cause of the Stone Canyon Fire, which officials said they believe was human-caused.

Information on the cause of the fire and the investigation into the associated fatality will be provided by the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. Officials have created a website to help assist residents with recovery from both the Stone Canyon and Lake Shore fires here.
