Spotify enhances parental controls for kids' music experience

[ad_1]

(FOX40.COM) — Spotify is expanding its parental controls, allowing premium account holders to manage their kids’ music experience.

Following a pilot test that happened last year, Spotify said it’s now allowing parents to filter out explicit content, block certain songs and artists, and hide the videos that sometimes play while users listen to tracks.

A part of the Premium Family plan, Spotify announced that managed accounts offer additional value to plan managers to provide a music listening experience for younger listeners. Children managed under this account will be able to create playlists, receive Spotify’s personalized recommendations and enjoy regular Spotify features.

Via settings, Family Plan managers can control the Explicit Content Filter, playback of specific artists/songs and a toggle to hide video and Canvas (short looping videos accompanying songs). Interactive features like messages can also be limited on managed accounts.

Spotify said “every child is different, and every family’s journey is unique, so we’ve been evolving our tools to help caregivers share music in a way that feels right for them,” encouraging parents and kids to listen to music together.
