South Charlotte death now a homicide, CMPD says

The person was found dead on Werburgh Street near Park Road and Tyvola Road.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person’s death in south Charlotte on Sunday is now being investigated as a homicide, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. 

CMPD officers found the victim dead along Werburgh Street around 1:30 p.m. on July 14. Investigators didn’t say where the victim’s body was found, but multiple CMPD vehicles were spotted at a townhome community in the area of Tyvola Road and Park Road. 

CMPD said the case was ruled a homicide after consulting with the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The nature of the person’s death has not been released and CMPD hasn’t identified the victim. 

No suspect information has been released and CMPD hasn’t announced any arrests in connection with the case.
