SLIPKNOT Streams Their Entire 25th Anniversary Self-Titled Reissue – Metal Injection

Twenty-five years ago, Slipknot released their debut self-titled album that turned the Iowa nine from curious upstarts into the most feral cultural force metal had seen in years. Now, a quarter century later, the band are celebrating its legacy with Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition), a sprawling reissue that drags every raw demo, warped mix, and blood-splattered memory out into the daylight.

The box set is a feast for the faithful: six LPs bursting with 59 recordings — 40 of them previously unreleased — alongside unseen images pulled straight from the band’s archives and nine collectors’ photo cards. The Indigo Ranch demos are here in all their snarling, unpolished glory, while alternate mixes from the likes of Jay Baumgardner and Ulrich Wild make an appearance as well. Even test takes that reveal the chaotic decision – making behind one of metal’s most influential debuts. For Slipknot die-hards, it’s the sound of history mutating in real time.

Of course, this wouldn’t be Slipknot without a little bloodletting. A limited run of 100 vinyl LPs literally filled with blood appeared on their secret site, selling out in seconds and crashing the page. Other editions — a 6LP splattered box, 2LP colorways, 2CD sets, and digital streams — quickly followed suit.

The anniversary package includes remastered soundboard tapes that capture the carnage of 1999 Hartford, CT, when they were still clawing their way through clubs, and the following year’s UK onslaught, where that chaos had already metastasized into mainstage dominance.

The timing couldn’t be sharper. Slipknot‘s recent Here Comes The Pain arena tour—sold out across Madison Square Garden, London’s O2, Paris’ Accor Arena, and their own Knotfest Iowa homecoming — proved that the same fire still burns. Sets leaned heavily on the debut, a nod to the record that turned a niche Iowa act into metal’s unlikeliest revolutionaries.
