PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person was rushed to the Legacy Emanuel Burn Center after a fire broke out at a care facility in Northeast Portland Sunday afternoon, Portland Fire & Rescue said.
The fire only affected a single occupancy at the facility near 800 NE 122nd Avenue. But officials said another person in a neighboring apartment was being checked out medically.
The person taken to the burn unit suffered “significant injuries,” PFR said.
Most of the residents of the 2-story building were ordered to shelter in place, officials said. The facility has nearly 90 units, and most of them have limited mobility, officials said.
KOIN 6 News will have more information as it develops.
