EXPECT THAT TO BE COMPLETED BY 2030. SIERRA COLLEGE IN ROCKLAND IS CELEBRATING THE OPENING OF NEW STUDENT HOUSING ON CAMPUS. IT WILL PROVIDE AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR 358 STUDENTS. THE PROJECT WAS FUNDED BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AND SIERRA COLLEGE. SIERRA COLLEGE SAYS THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT BECAUSE HOUSING, TRANSPORTATION AND FOOD INSECURITY ARE MAJOR ROADBLOCKS TO STUDENTS ENROLLING IN COLLEGE AND PURSUING THEIR CAREER GOALS. SOME STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO LIVE HERE RENT FREE, SO OUR FOUNDATION HAS PARTNERED WITH US ON AN ENDOWED BED PROGRAM AND LOCAL BUSINESSES AND FOUNDATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS HAVE CONTRIBUTED INTO THAT ENDOWMENT, AND IT ALLOWS THEM TO ENDOW A BED FOR THE LIFE OF THIS BUILDING, SO THAT EVERY YEAR A STUDENT CAN LIVE HERE RENT FREE. AND SO MANY OF OUR STUDENTS, YOU KNOW, WHILE WHILE THE RENTS ARE AFFORDABLE, SOME STUDENTS CAN’T EVEN AFFORD THAT. AND SO THIS IS GOING TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO THOSE STUDENTS. POSSIBLE.
