Julie, a graphic designer in Washington State, volunteers for the Benton-Franklin Humane Society. Julie met the shelter’s longest resident, Snoopy, an elderly deaf dog. Snoopy has been there for 653 days!
A year ago, Snoopy was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease which has affected his hearing and vision. Julie takes Snoopy out of his kennel to play in the yard. She became attached to him rather quickly but knew he would be hard to place. He’s a happy, go lucky dog but is overlooked because of his age and health issues. Julie says in the video, “He enjoys simple joys.” The pup adores his toys and blankets, even suckling on them for comfort.
While Snoopy still can’t find a home, people have stepped forward to donate things for his kennel, such as a comfy orthopedic bed. But because of his age and health, Snoopy is still overlooked by potential adopters. While the vet says he will do well with treatment and likely have several more golden years left, he needs frequent vet visits and expensive medication. In fact, over the course of 653 days, Snoopy has only had one meet and greet that never panned out.
