SF man arrested in connection with shooting near UC Berkeley campus

(KRON) — A San Francisco man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly shooting near UC Berkeley’s campus, the Berkeley Police Department said. The man is connected to a “series of gunfire” that happened early in the morning of Oct. 26.

Police responded to the area of South Campus at about 12:15 a.m. for the shootings. Detectives spoke with witnesses, reviewed surveillance footage, identified a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.

On Nov. 7, BPD served a warrant at the man’s San Francisco home and arrested him. Police did not identify the 45-year-old suspect.

The man was arrested on counts of assault with a firearm, willfully discharging a firearm at an occupied building or vehicle, and other gun-related offenses.

BPD did not report any injuries from the shooting.

While serving the search warrant, police found nine handguns, three assault rifles and ammunition.
