MOORE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) — A school bus was involved in a crash with a truck on Wednesday afternoon in Moore County.

It happened about 4:10 p.m. at Vass Carthage Road at Lees Branch Drive, near Whispering Pines.

Bus 301 was heading west on Vass-Carthage Road when a truck pulling a trailer with a tractor coming from the other way lost control.

The truck ran off the right side of the road and overcorrected, causing the trailer to fishtail. The truck then crossed the center line, struck the bus, and flipped over on the roadway.

The bus, which was carrying 20 students from Union Pines High School, went off the right side of the road and came to rest in a ditch.

There were no major injuries, but four students were taken to Moore County Regional Hospital by ambulance.

Several other students were taken for medical treatment by their parents.

The bus driver said he would go to an urgent care center to be checked out. The truck driver was evaluated by EMS and said he would take himself to the hospital.

Vass-Carthage Road was closed for nearly three hours.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Moore County Schools Police are investigating.
