Search suspended after swimmer goes missing at Jordan Lake

A search operation has been suspended after a swimmer went missing in the area of Marthas Chapel Road and Farrington Road at Jordan Lake.

Randall Rigsbee, from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Office, stated that the search began following a call received Tuesday around 8:47 p.m.

Radio traffic audio stated a report to a drowning.

“Hispanic male possibly 52 years of age,” the audio said. “Callers flag down first responders advising a lot of cars are parked on the side of the roadway, saying its possibly he’s been in the water for over 20 minutes.”

Fire and water rescue crews are on the scene.
