According to a witness at the scene, the teen suspect was observed pouring out apparent alcoholic beverages.
San Rafael officers performed a field sobriety test and concluded that the 18-year-old was driving while under the influence at the time of the crash. The driver was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for DUI after being medically cleared.
“This serves as a reminder that driving while under the influence is extremely dangerous and illegal,” San Rafael PD wrote on social media. “Drive sober, designate a sober driver, use ride share services, or use public transportation.”
