Sacramento Weather Forecast

[ad_1]

Heat Advisory Friday through Saturday with major heat risk for parts of the valley and foothills. Thunderstorms for the Sierra.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — Sacramento hit 102° on Thursday afternoon. That’s tied for the hottest temperature we’ve had so far this year.

The heat continues to be widespread Friday and Saturday with major heat risk hitting more areas and an afternoon dose of dry and warming northwest wind. Much of the valley is back near 102°.

Major heat risk is forecasted for the valley and foothills. The ABC10 Weather Impact Team has a Weather Impact Alert through Saturday due to the elevated heat related risks.

A Heat Advisory is in place Friday and Saturday with highs ranging from the upper 90s to near 105°. Overnight lows in the foothills will stay warm in the low to mid 70s.

Impacts include moderate to major heat risk. Moderate heat risk affects most people who are sensitive to heat. Major heat risk affects anyone without effective cooling and hydration.

Be weather ready. Stay hydrated and take shade breaks often if outdoors. For those with access to air conditioning, make sure to use it during this heat event. Fans can be helpful but not as effective as air conditioning.

Beginning Friday and really ramping up on Sunday, Sierra showers and thunderstorms make a return to the forecast. The lightning will pose a risk for new fire starts, but many high elevation locations may actually pick up anywhere from a quarter to a half-inch of rain — quite beneficial for this time of year!

Check on others, especially children and elderly. Also, keep pets in mind.
