(FOX40.COM) — Multiple pieces of legislation, authored by Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, were passed by the California State Assembly, including one that will invest in Sacramento transportation improvements.

“I brought these bills forward because they come directly from the voices of the people I serve,” Nguyen said.
According to the assemblymember, input from the community allowed her to craft bills that reflect the needs and concerns of everyday Californians.
“My hope is that these bills will bring real change to the communities I’m honored to represent,” Nguyen said.
According to Nguyen, AB 1223 will strengthen the Sacramento Transportation Authority’s ability to invest in improvements and deliver projects for transportation more efficiently.
“Every story, every concern, and every piece of feedback shaped these efforts. I’m grateful to see them move forward with strong support, because they’re not just policies on paper—they’re about making daily life a little safer and better for our families,” Nguyen said.
Among AB 1223, four other bills were passed with a majority vote in both houses of the state assembly. The assemblymember said the other pieces of legistaltion include:
- AB 1125: extends workers’ compensation for heart-related health issues to all peace officers employed at any of the five California Department State Hospitals.
- AB 1384: streamlines commercial unlawful detainer hearings, reducing costly delays for property owners and businesses.
- AB 1172: allows trained staff at adult day programs to administer intranasal emergency anti-seizure medication, preventing dangerous delays in care.
- AB 374: ensures classified school employees receive itemized pay stubs to clearly track their earnings.
All five of Nguyen’s bills now await the governor’s final approval.
