(FOX40.COM) — A 26-year-old male daycare worker was arrested after a mother made a report of her 6-year-old child possibly getting sexually abused, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
SCSO said the mother made the report on July 28 and claimed her daughter might have been sexually abused while attending Mather Childcare Center, a facility that primarily serves members of the Turkish immigrant community.

The Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau and the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division opened an investigation and interviewed the child, discovering that there may be additional victims who are current and former attendees of the daycare.
According to the sheriff’s office, Gokhan Bagci, a Turkish national, was arrested on Aug. 22 on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 by force or fear.
Officials said that Customs and Border Protection had removed Bagci in November 2023 and again in September 2024. The Sheriff’s Office requested that he be held without bail because of his immigration history and risk of flight.
The request was granted, and the suspect is currently in custody at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
“Child sexual abuse is significantly underreported, and cases within immigrant communities are often even less likely to come forward,” officials with SCSO said. “Detectives believe there may be additional victims connected to Bagci and the Mather Childcare Center and strongly encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau at 916-874-5191 or by email at childabuse@sacsheriff.com.
